Chapter Text
Izuku hated staying with his dad for a few reasons: His father’s girlfriend, Leslie, A.K.A the most annoying person in the world, and the most important reason: They we’re both the most homophobic bitches he’s ever met.
He hated the little comments his father would throw his way, faking he didn’t meant it that way, bullshit. He was sick of being just a decoration to the house. Every time he was there, the house would remain cold and lonely due his father locking himself in his room with Leslie, doing God knows what. Izuku feels even more alone than he feels at home. He feels not wanted, so when he saw Katsuki left… his heart just broke a little more than before.
Katsuki showed up at his doorstep looking extremely handsome, more, if that was even possible. He was dressed with black pants and a grey button-up tucked in his pants; his hair was the same and he spotted a silver watch on his wide wrist. Absolutely stunning.
He looked at them interact in the car, the blonde was trying to be less rude when around her. He watched them exchange a few conversations without the blonde man blowing up or telling her to shut it. All while he was just expecting from the back seat, wishing it was him.
He ignored when his eyes turned glassy.
He wanted to ask Katsuki why, ‘Why not me?’ But… he knows why, he knows that Katsuki hates him. Besides, he’s not a girl with smooth legs or boobs or any of that. He’s okay with his body, but a part of him wonders if Katsuki would turn his gaze to him if he was a girl… ‘would he still treat me this way?”
There’s a rustling that snaps him back from his thoughts, green eyes look up to see Leslie standing in front of him with a tight lipped smile.
“Leslie” He stares at her with wide eyes and he can tell she has to resist making a face. She never liked him.
“Hi! Izuku.” That’s all that comes out of her mouth.
After a moment of awkward silence, Izuku spoke.
“Is… is there something you need?” He asked quietly, his dark brows furrowed ever so slightly. Leslie just looks around and takes a piece of her red hair between her slim fingers. The silence started to make Izuku nervous, did he said something inappropriate? Hurtful?
But then…
“I heard you got accepted in an agency already.” She forced out the words, looking around the beautiful house. Izuku smiles brightly, thinking maybe Leslie was ready for a change after all. Usually they don’t talk that much, it’s only when his father is around and Leslie puts on her plastic smile and asks him about his day or his likes, but once Hisashi lefts the room, she huffs or rolls her eyes at Izuku, not wanting to endure a conversation with him. So he tries. He tries for his father.
Even though he does not deserve it.
“Oh, yes!” Izuku vibrates with excitement when talking about his passion. “I got accepted in Mirko’s agency” he shyly smiles at the woman standing awkwardly in front of him. She says nothing and just nods and in that moment Izuku wonders why is she doing this even though she clearly doesn’t want to. She looks annoyed but when a door opens at the other side of the room, her face shines and a genuine smile appears on her face.
“Oh, I see you two are getting some quality time. Am I interrupting?” His father says with a wide grin and walks over to his wife, sneaking an arm around her waist in a protective manner.
Leslie just leans and smiles up at him. “You’re not interrupting anything, darling.” She coos at him and Izuku stares awkwardly at the happy couple standing in front of him. “Izuku was just telling me about his new job as a sidekick. Very impressive.” She says with a hint of distaste at the end, but Izuku is used to it.
“Oh yeah, that. Pretty impressive, Izuku!” He says it but it doesn’t sound genuine. It pains Izuku because he’s worked so hard for this, risked his own life, actually. But it’s okay, Hisahi never cared. “By the way, you should call Katsuki and Ochacko. We would like to have some company tomorrow for dinner. What do you say? Tell him it’s me who says it.” Izuku looks at him for a moment, he doesn’t know why his father has been so insisting on bringing his friends for dinner tomorrow, but he asks anyway.
Ochacko replies quickly, she’s coming to dinner. On the other hand, Katsuki takes his time. He had seen it, but he hadn’t replied yet, making Izuku weary. Did he fucked up? Was he in any position of asking Katsuki to hang out? He knows he’s not, but he tried anyway, and when Katsuki replied his text with a simple ‘What time?’ He smiles and tries to steady his little fluttering heart against his rib cage.
…
Everything was set up. The table was adorned with beautiful jars filled with bright yellow flowers, the chairs where perfectly placed, the candles, the delicious food, slightly steaming; the plates… everything was so perfect for just a simple dinner.
And it made Izuku’s stomach turn. There was something up.
He knows something’s up because usually, when he stays with his dad, they never do something nice for dinner, they just sit there and chat for a little bit and that’s it, so yes, something’s was up.
“Izuku, go get the door!” Hisashi tells him harshly, snapping him out of his mind and he heard the door being knocked. “Sorry!” He squeaks and goes running to the door.
When he opens the door, Ochacko is standing there with a bouquet of pink flowers. She’s wearing a pink blouse and black jeans, and Izuku thinks she looks stunning with her ponytail.
“Chacko!” He greets happily as he wraps her in a hug, finally someone nice to be around.
“Izuku!” She returns the gesture and they smile at each other lovingly, ignoring the look Hisashi throws and her wife with a small smirk across his face.
“Oh, let me help you with that.” He tools the flowers and guides her inside. Leslie smiles at Ochacko and the brunette smiles back in a polite manner.
“Hi! You must be Ochacko,” Leslie says excitedly. “So nice to finally meet you, I’ve heard so much about you.” She acts like she cares and that makes Izuku a bit uncomfortable because deep down, she doesn’t give a shit.
“Ah, well, I hope just nice things.” The brunette laughs awkwardly.
‘This is going to be a long night’ Izuku things as he closes the door with an awkward smile.
…
Katsuki kept thinking about those eyes. He can’t stop thinking about the reddens outlining the greenette’s eyes and the way he looked so sad when he left with Kairi, and he hates that he feels guilty. He hates thinking about Deku.
But he knows Izuku’s relationship with his dad is extremely complicated and he knows how much Izuku cares, even if he says he doesn’t.
He remembers when the man left, leaving Inko and Izuku behind when he started picking up that the freckled boy was gay. He witnessed how Inko grow to resent Izuku a bit after her ex husband left and how Izuku would always go to his house to get away from his. He was there when Izuku cried, curled up in a ball as he asked him what was wrong with him. He remembers, he remembers it all but what stuck with him the most was that damn day.
It was one day when Izuku and him where studying in Katsuki’s room. Izuku was laying on his bed, his hands were crossed over his stomach and he was looking directly at the celling.
“Oí, Deku.” He called but the boy didn’t answered, he just laid there, eyes distant and glassy. Worry quickly took over the blonde and he sat on the bed to look at him. “What’s wrong?” He asked again but there was no answer. He stared at Izuku’s delicate face and he knew then, Izuku was trying not to cry. “I won’t leave you.” He said in a stern voice. “If that’s what you’re thinking. I ain’t leaving you.” He remembers the way Izuku looked at him then, eyes full of admiration, cheeks warm and a small smile on his face.
“Thanks, Kacchan.”
He didn’t kept any of his promises, non. of. them.
So he says to himself, this is one promise he’s gotta keep, so he goes to that damn dinner.
…
The blonde arrived at the house and prepared himself to look Izuku in the eye, because he feels weird to pretend he’s friends with the nerd when he’s not. It feels weird to look at Izuku right in the eye knowing damn well that they had a story but he decided to ignore it all. It was never explicit but Katuski always knew there was a spark between them. Always.
So he took a few deep breath’s and got out of the car, heading towards the door.
“Ah, Katsuki” Hisashi was the one to answer the door. “Finally! Come in, come in.” He greets him with a large grin and a short but firm hug. “It’s so nice to see you again, I thought you wouldn’t make it.”
“Had a few complications on the way but… I’m here.” He says with a light shrug and walked to the already set table, eyes on him immediately.
“Ah! You must be the famous Katsuki,” The woman stands up and goes to greet Katsuki, this is Izuku’s step mother.
“Nice to meet you.” He keeps it short, sometime inside him feels rejection towards her. He turns his head and catches Izuku’s big doe eyes staring at him like some puzzle. Uraraka looks just as shocked. Fucking losers.
“Kacchan…” he says with a breathy voice and Katsuki hates it. He hates him. “Thought you wouldn’t come.” His eyes then look around the house and then he starts with that damn muttering he hates so much.
“Well, I’m here.” He states dryly and he sees the way Izuku’s expression changes into something more distant and sad.
“A—Ah, sure. Sorry.” He apologized and Katsuki just stares at him with a single brow up.
“Nice to see you around, Bakugou-kun.” Round face says with a small smile and Katsuki just nods at her. He doesn’t listen to much after that, until…
“So, Uraraka.” Hisashi speaks after a sip of his drink, his wife sitting beside him with her hand on his leg. “Tell me how’s my son doing.” He says with a sly smile and he wiggles his eyebrows a bit. Katsuki finds him annoying as fuck. “He barely tells us anything.” Katsuki wants to laugh at that because he’s sure that Izuku stopped telling him stuff when he stopped to care.
“He’s amazing!” Uraraka smiles brightly at Hisahi and then looks at her friend with understanding in her eyes. The blond just watches as the girl tells story’s about Izuku and Hisashi and Leslie pretend to give a shit with their plastic smiles and fake laughs. He just watches as Izuku’s face looks distant, with a barely smile there.
“He just got accepted in Mirko’s agency!” She says excited as she talks and talks about her best friend and the blonde sees Izuku’s expression soften at the things her friend says about him.
“And what about you, Katsuki” Leslie opens her big mouth and points at him with her fork. “Any agency?” She asks with a smile and all the attention turns to him.
He swallows his food and nods his head. “Yeah, going with Endevor” He admits and immediately Izuku’s eyes shine with excitement.
“Kacchan! That’s pretty impressive,” his eyes spark with joy and proud and Katsuki has to look away. “I’ve always knew you would get in with the number one!” Katsuki then looks back at him and sees the large grin spread all over freckled face.
“It’s all right.” He says and Izuku’s smile flatters a bit.
“That’s more than impressive!” Hisashi’s voice booms and he looks at him like he is his pride and joy. It makes him uncomfortable. “That’s something to celebrate, have you told your parents already?” Obviously, old fart.
“Yeah, I have.”
The conversation moved to a not better topic.
“So You’re going out with… what was her name?”
“Kairi.”
“Taking this serious?”
“She’s so beautiful.” Leslie says and the questions and small talk keep going back and forth while he stares at the green eyed boy who looks like he’s about to burst in fucking tears at any moment. Fuck. He just wishes they would shut the fuck up already.
But that’s not the worst, no. Hell no.
The sound of a spoon hitting the glass caught the attention of the three teenagers. Leslie was standing along with her husband and slowly, Hisashi was looking at intensely at Izuku but then replace it with a big smile, his hands sneaking to grab her wife by the waist.
“We got an announcement.” She says, giving small and short jumps. They were both grinning like idiots and Katsuki felt his stomach hurt. He looked at Deku, who was just as confused and he could see the fear laying behind those green eyes. Ochacko was grabbing his hand tightly and she was trying to look normal.
And then.
“We’re pregnant!” The both yelled and started hugging and smiling like idiots. The handed Izuku a small box with a small stick that read “positive.” He saw Izuku’s world come to a halt as he stared at it.
Uraraka got up and gave each one a short hug and a simple ‘congratulations!’ But Izuku wasn’t having it, and they all noticed it by the way his chest started to move heavily and his eyes started to water. Katsuki felt genuinely worried, but he won’t say it.
He didn’t say anything, just stared in shock at the stick. Izuku is having a sibling.
They noticed the trembling hands and the quivering lip and the slowly stopped their shitty act to look at Izuku. Leslie looked unamused, her arms crossed over her chest and she looked away with a brow up.
“Izuku?” Hisahi asked with a nervous smile. He approached his son but stayed a few steps away, waiting.
“Why wasn’t I enough for you to stay?” He quietly mumbles. His small hands are gripping the stick with so much force that the blonde thinks he’s going to broke it.
“Izuku.” Hisahi huffs with a tired voice. “We’ve have this conversation before, I thought you would be happy for me, for us.” Katsuki gets it, he gets why Izuku isn’t happy about the news. The boy barely spend time with his father and now he has a new baby on the way. His dad would be there for another kid but he ditched the green haried one. He feels anger boil in his stomach and his jaw clenches while he stares at the scene. He feels like this because he knows how much this affects the boy and even if they’re not friends anymore, he cares, deep down and he can’t pretend that Izuku is just a stranger.
Izuku is the boy who would always bake him cookies when he was upset, Izuku is the boy who would help him with maths, the boy he knows since childhood, the boy that would take care of his wounds when he got in any fight. The guy who would massage his hands due his quirk. The boy who did everything to make him happy. He couldn’t just ignore that.
“You treat me like I’m being selfish when the only think I’ve ever asked you was to stay!” The yelling snaps him out of his thoughts and he can clearly see slaty tears start to flow down freckled cheeks. He watches as Hisashi tries to speak but the boy interrupted quickly. “I’ve only asked you to love me!”
“Sorry I wasn’t the son you would’ve want but I always have tried my best for you to like me.” He says this more quietly as he chokes on his tears and the blonde just wants to clean his rosy cheeks.
“I tried to get along with your wife because I wanted to be okay with you but you just never cared about me,” his voice is wobbly and his shoulders shake harshly at every word he says.
“No one was there when I got named as the best student at UA! Yagi was the only one!” He remembers that day, the way the disappointment showed in his face was heavy.
“You weren’t there where my heart got shattered for the first time! Uraraka was there!” He yells with a broken voice and tears fall from his face angrily.
Katsuki wants to know who broke his heart, he wants to beat the shit out of that asshole because Izuku is such a pure soul and he didn’t deserved any of that. As a friend, Katsuki thinks.
“You weren’t there when a nearly died last year!” His chest convulsed and everyone stares at him.
“You weren’t there… so tell, me. Why I couldn’t have my father and this kid does?” He cries harder. “Where did my dad go…?” He says, eyes full of betrayal. “Why did you stopped loving me…? Am I that unlovable? Am I really that… useless?” He says quietly. Katsuki feels his heart squeeze, only distracted when he sees Uraraka cry and run to Izuku, shanking as she holds him in a protective embrace. Hisashi tough, looks like he feels guilty, but that he doesn’t really feel bad. It makes
Katsuki’s blood boil, because he knows this is his fault too, that Izuku feels this useless and annoying.
And he need to do something about it because he feels more like shit when he sees Izuku stare at him with eyes full of tears and decides that he can’t stand that view.
