Chapter Text
Will’s first clear thought in days is warmth, soothing instead of overbearing and music drifting from downstairs. The piano and a violin, starting and stopping periodically, one or the other playing alone for a few notes. He rolled over and buried his face into the cool pillow, giving a pleased hum at the smell of Hannibal’s shampoo, probably some ridiculously priced, hand blended concoction the man had imported like his cologne. He stopped as he heard the door open, his face tinting as he froze. The soft barely there static of Hannibal’s mind made him relax.
Will rolled over onto his back and stretched, giving a groan as several joints and vertebra cracked before he sat up, glancing up at Hannibal. His face turned scarlet when he locked eyes, the blush covering his ears and spreading down his neck to disappear under the collar of his shirt.
What a breathtaking sight, I wonder how far down that color goes. Hannibal gave a mental chuckle as Will broke eye contact, his mouth giving the smallest of quirks as he entered the room with a tray, a steaming bowl of grits next to a plate of waffles topped with pecans. A small bottle of syrup and a coffee cup next to a tiny plate with bacon. He placed the tray over Will’s lap as the younger man looked around the room.
“W-what am I doing in your bed?” The blush that had been receding from the profiler’s cheeks returned quickly as he realized if he was in Hannibal’s bedroom, he was in Hannibal’s bed. As embarrassed as he was his traitorous body apparently liked that notion as he felt arousal start coiling in his gut.
“You have been sleeping here for the last two weeks Will. Shortly before treatment started you got into bed with me and Harrison. I saw no need to make you leave.” Hannibal finished setting the tray up for Will before leaning over to press his lips to the profiler’s forehead at the hairline. He inhaled, smelling his shampoo with the other man’s natural scent pleased him greatly.
“Did you just smell me?” Will asked wide eyed and suddenly stiff.
“Quite unavoidable, eat your breakfast before it gets cold, I have to check how the boys are doing.” Hannibal left the room in no hurry, seeming unfazed by the intimate interaction. He passed Winston in the hall and paused for a moment when the dog looked up at him and gave a soft whine. Hannibal tilted his head in thought for a moment before giving a single nod. “You may go in, stay off the bed.”
Winston wagged his tail as he moved into the room to sit next to the bed, his tail thumping on the floor as Hannibal made his way back downstairs humming.

Two days later Will woke screaming from a nightmare in Hannibal’s guest bedroom drenched in sweat. He stripped and put on dry clothes, was about to do what he always did at home which was to lay down a towel when Winston whined at the door. “Alright bud, lets go outside then.” He opened the door, expecting the dog to make his way downstairs.
Instead, Winston made his way down the hall and sat outside the master bedroom, his tail thumping softly against the carpet. Will shook his head and pointed back towards the guest room. Winston cocked his head to the side and stood, turning towards the door to Hannibal’s room and nosing it open before slipping inside.
“Winston!” Will whisper shouted, groaning when his dog didn’t come back out of the room. He silently made his way down the hall, freezing when Harrison’s door opened. The little boy rubbed at an eye with his free hand, the other holding RS to his chest.
Emerald eyes looked blearily at Will for a moment before padding over and taking a hand. Will followed the smaller boy to Hannibal’s door, needing only a small tug cross the threshold into the dark room. He was led to the edge of the bed and watched as Harrison climbed on and snuggled against Hannibal’s side.
Will stood, frozen for a moment before he looked around the room, the tension in his shoulders melted when he noticed Winston laying on a plush dog bed at the foot. He slapped a hand to his face as several of his smaller dogs padded into the room and settled.
“No need for the mental gymnastics Will, get in the bed, “ Hannibal murmured, maroon eyes tracking the movement of the profiler. He watched as Will deliberated for another moment before cautiously climbing into the bed. He reached out across Harrison’s body, the little boy already fast asleep and took hold of Will’s hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing the palm. “If I had not wanted you in here, I would have set wards to keep you out while you had been recovering, or set them to keep you in your room.”
He listened as Will’s breathing hitched momentarily as he used magic to aid in tugging the other man closer and settle the blankets over him. “I want you here, no matter the capacity in which you choose.”
Will bit his lip and looked down at the little boy between them before he shifted a little closer before getting up on an elbow just enough to lean over and press his lips chastely to Hannibal’s. His cheeks flushing a dark red, “ok?” he asked softly.
As the profiler retreated Hannibal let go of his hand placed it on the back of Will’s head to draw him back down for a soft kiss before allowing Will to draw back and settle on the bed.
Will fell back to sleep, cheeks red but content at the hand gently scratching at his scalp.
The next morning, he woke as Hannibal was getting out of bed as Harrison shifted in his sleep and crawled on top of Will, the stuffed Raven stag slamming into the side of his head. He let out a soft oomph even as his arms wrapped around the smaller body.
Hannibal smiled and leaned over to kiss Harrison’s head first, moving the stuffed animal he slowly leaned in to press a kiss to Will’s lips. “I will let the dogs out; you rest with Harrison.” Another quick peck before he went about getting the dogs down stairs.
I have a boyfriend now? Cringing at the use of boyfriend in relation to Hannibal, the term seemed much to juvenile. His cheeks reddened and he smiled, I have a boyfriend.
