“Alan for god’s sake…”
Tori can’t hide her smile even as Ellie yanks Alan back into the rut they’ve hidden in, hoping that this time they’ll get away, somehow. Ellie’s always been the one to get Alan to behave himself, even if she can’t help loving them both equally. Alan’s sweet nature and natural nerdiness have charmed her, but she has to admit she’s hoping they won’t die. Not yet.
“Babe, can you quit stressing our wife out?”
Tori’s voice is low as she risks looking over the top of the rut.
“Time to run.”
Ellie sighs but follows and Tori grins when they make it to the next dent just as something comes out of the trees further down the field they’ve managed to get stuck in. It’s a slow start, but they will make it home.
