Work Text:

You slump against your door after a long walk to the House of Lamentation.

It was, in reality, a short walk, but with the amount of turbulent thoughts bouncing around your mind, you find yourself walking slower than you usually would, considering you’re always in danger of being eaten by demons.

But does that danger really compare to the entire Devildom going into chaos because of one human?

Your thoughts reek of confusion, guilt and so much more as you find yourself overwhelmed. Clutching your head in your hands, you curl up as you wonder what you’re going to do now?

Solomon, earlier, during one of your study sessions with him doing magic, had brought up to you the prospect of overtaking the Devildom. Rip the crown off of Diavolo’s head and sit on the throne.

Show them that humans aren’t just food for them, and that they should be trembling at the sight of him.

And wouldn’t it be nice for you to rule all of that with him?

“Mortal things, you and I. Wouldn’t it be nice? Give you a whole kingdom of demons, and you don’t need a pact to control them like we would now. I can protect you from all these demons, (name). You don’t need to go walking down the streets of the Devildom without having one of the demon brothers protecting you.”

Solomon says, a smile on his face and a manic look in his eyes that tells you he’s serious.

You’d hoped it was a joke, but you know Solomon. And you know exactly when he’d tell the truth. Unfortunately, this was one of those times.

You consider telling the demon brothers for a minute, but they’re all out on student council business right now, and they all said it was important and urgent. But… this was important business too, maybe even more, right?

With renewed vigor and a shaky breath, you tidy up your disheveled clothes and get a jacket to brave the cold breeze passing through the Devildom. Briskly, you get your D.D.D. and shoot a quick message to Satan saying that you’re coming over to RAD and you have something important to tell them.

You figure that he’s not going to read it until later, so you go ahead and make your way out your room down to the front door.

You’re walking with such renewed purpose, that you don’t expect to be greeted at the front door by the one person you’ve been wanting to avoid.

“Solomon.” You say nervously as you take a few steps backward.

“Hello (name), do you mind if I come in? I just wanted to talk to you about earlier, won’t you reconsider?” Says Solomon as he puts on a charming smile that has something severely sinister behind it.

It sets off alarms in your head and you immediately think to just wait for the brothers instead of dashing out where Solomon could follow you and commence his plan of overtaking the Devildom.

“Sorry but no.” As you’re about to shut the door on Solomon, he puts a hand between the gap of the door and the door’s frame, then he pulls it wide open again before welcoming the rest of himself in.

“Well, I’d have hoped you’d been more cooperative and give me a chance to say something.” His sinister smile doesn’t drop, and it isn’t the kind of smile that makes everyone think he’s shady, but you know that he doesn’t mean it. It’s the kind of smile that would send shivers down your spine and he looks like a predator, crazed with lust and hunger.

Without another thought, you run up the stairs as fast as you can and hide in your room. As you shut and lock your door, miraculously, Solomon hasn’t caught up.

He simply walks briskly with much urgency, letting his prey (you), get a head start. Because in the end, you will still be his for the taking.

“Come on darling, don’t run from me like that.” He says dotingly as he places a palm on the door to your room.

“I know you’re scared of me and what I would do but it’s all wonderful my love! Just come out, please?” He smiles, and even though you can’t see him, you can hear it in his sinister and overly honeyed voice.

“Stop it Solomon, I’ll summon the demon brothers with my pacts if you don’t leave me alone!” Solomon sighs.

“How rude of you, has spending time with all these demons make you lose your mind?”

“I’d ask you that Solomon! Have you gone mad trying to collect pacts from demons? Thinking of everybody as if they’re a toy!” You shout to him from behind your door, and every last drop of courage drains from you after that, as you pale and tremble.

“Oh dear, your precious demons must’ve really gotten to you. I don’t think you’re a toy, (name). The demons have really brainwashed you… but that’s okay! All is forgiven! It’s not your fault!” He says it so cheerily, to the point you’re convinced he’s lost his mind. But he convinces himself that he’s still well and sane.

If he could give all the realms to you, if he could just tear them all down and burn them to the ground for you, oh he would. He would at any cost.

“Let me let you in on a little secret. I can’t express in words how overjoyed I was that you let me become your teacher in magic. After all those times being pulled away from the demon brothers because I was…suspicious and shady, as they say, then finally I had you in arms reach, and the demon brothers couldn’t interfere.” A light laugh comes out of his mouth and you shiver, as he says “suspicious and shady” with such mockery in his voice.

Where was the Solomon that was calm and understanding and encouraging and supportive and not sinister, overbearing and out of his mind?

“And I can’t let that slip away from me now, with how they’ve…got you and convinced you that you’re supposed to be on their side. They’ve been using you (name), can’t you see?”

You hear his footsteps pace around your door and you crawl on your knees away from the door to your bed. You think, no, they would never use you. Even if a bud of doubt blossoms in your chest and in the back of your mind, you know they wouldn’t, and you couldn’t trust Solomon’s words.

“I have a plan (name)! And you’re the key to all of it! So please, won’t you agree and come rule with me? You won’t have to go around the streets of the Devildom scared anymore! No one will come eat you and everyone, every single being of the realms will bow down to us!” Solomon breathes heavily with a manic look on his pale face and malice glinting in his yellow-blue eyes.

“I’m all that you need darling! I can set you free from fear!” He presses himself against the door and it only serves to make his voice louder and his insanity much more evident.

“We’re meant to be, love! You with your seven, loyal and faithful demons wrapped around your little finger and your magical prowess that surpasses even mine! And me, the strongest sorcerer in all three realms. We can be immortal together! We can rule together for eternity and nothing will stop us!” He goes silent for a while as he takes a deep breath before continuing.

He knows what he’s doing.

Be kind and gentle to your prey. Be a wolf in sheep’s clothing, because sympathy is key. He’s just like you! Another human who’s simply trying to survive being conquered by a bout of demons. You both are only heading towards the same goal, right? It makes plenty of sense for you to join him!

Not to mention, shouting at you and screaming won’t do much, now would it?

“(name), open the door, please. Let’s not argue anymore, alright? I won’t hurt you.” He receives only your silence. Not even a heavy breath or a stumble or a creak of the floorboards. He puts on another crazed smile, as he lifts a hand to your door knob.

“(name), don’t make me open the door for you.” Silence.

“I’m going to count to three!” He says in a sing song voice, an tone he’d rarely use, as he starts to work his magic on the door knob.

“One…” A glance at your door knob and it starts to move. “Two…” You haven’t called your precious demons yet, how amusing. Oh, you sweet little sheep. You really just need him. You wouldn’t need to be afraid if you had him, right?

He doesn’t say three as he slams the door open and looks around, expecting you somewhere in the room, but you’re nowhere to be.

A breeze passes through your open window and Solomon immediately figures where you’ve gone to as your D.D.D. lights up with a message from Satan.

“So you want a chase now?” He laughs softly. “I’ll give you a chase then, my little sheep. And I’ll prove to you that I am the one you need, right then and there..” Another sinister chuckle rumbles in his chest. It just proves him right all the way, that you do need him. And you will join him.

You just need a little encouragement to spur you on.

And even as you’re running to RAD, you could feel his sinister laugh and chilling words rattle your very core.

Notes:

jd solomon starts singing after “Oh dear, your precious demons must’ve really gotten to you. I don’t think you’re a toy, (name). The demons have really brainwashed you… but that’s okay! All is forgiven! It’s not your fault!” He says it so cheerily, to the point you’re convinced he’s lost his mind. But he convinces himself that he’s still well and sane."
