Chapter Text
They were at the Sushi restaurant they went to on their first “unofficial-official” date. Jakey was wearing a yellow dress different than but similar to the one she wore that first time, this one a little more grown up but still made Scotty want to get her out of it quickly, paired with the black heels that made her already long legs seem longer.
Scotty never expected Jakey to set her world aflame when they first started talking - shortly after Jackey was drafted. But then she met her and Scotty knew she was done for.
Three years later, Scotty found the perfect ring for her and bought it without a second thought. The gold setting made the opal seem to shine brighter and it had screamed Jakey.
Scotty had arranged for a more private table, she didn’t want everyone in the restaurant to see, she wanted this to be for them, and she chewed nervously on her lip as she looked over the menu pretending like she wasn’t going to order what she always ordered.
Once they placed their orders, Scotty took Jake’s hand as she sank to one knee.
“YES!” Jake exclaimed and Scotty laughed.
“Jakey…”
“Sorry. You can ask now.”
Scotty laughed and mentally threw away the speech she had prepared and just said, “Marry me, Jake Neighbours?”
“Yes,” Jake smiled, kissing Scott sweetly, letting Scott slide the ring on as she dug something out of her purse. Opening the box to reveal the smile blue topaz ring, she asked, “Marry me, Scott Perunovich?”
“Yes,” Scotty grinned, kissing her again.
When they got home, they both posted a photo of them holding hands, their rings the center of attention.
