Chapter Text
As time passed, Dream felt more and more comfortable coming to Karl when he had urges. Karl was his safe person and knowing that he wouldn’t tell Sapnap also made Dream feel more comfortable expressing his emotions. He did have a few slip ups he didn’t necessarily want to admit to, but he knew telling Karl was the right thing to do.
He knew it was hard on Karl not to tell Sapnap what was going on, but Karl respected his friend’s privacy, not wanting to break his boundaries and possibly lose his trust. All Sapnap knew was that Dream’s mental health wasn’t that greatest, which wasn’t a lie, but also not the whole truth.
But everything could only stay this way for so long. Sapnap was bound to find out eventually.
It was a Saturday night and Dream and Sapnap were bored in their dorm room. After being pretty productive during the day and getting their homework finished, they decided to go over Karl’s and order some delivery for dinner.
“We literally had Chinese last time Sapnap I want pizza!” Karl whined.
Dream stayed out of the conversion, not wanting to be picky, but also because he loved watching Karl and Sapnap argue over the petty things.
“Fine I guess we’re getting pizza Dream” Sapnap huffed out, dialing the number and placing their usual order.
While they were eating their food, Karl got a text from one of his friends, Alex, about a party at the Baseball team’s house.
“Hey guys would anyone be up to party tonight?” Karl questioned, knowing the boys had nothing better to do.
“I mean yeah, it’s been a while, what about you Dream?” Sapnap asked.
“Umm.. yeah, I’ll go maybe” Dream said, not convincingly at all.
“I mean you guys don’t have to but Alex said it’s going to be a good one since the team just won today” Karl explained.
“Yeah, yeah, we can go, I haven’t seen Alex in a bit and it’ll be nice to get out” Dream said, a little more convincingly this time.
“You have alc right Karl?” Sapnap asked.
“Yeah I have some but Alex will also probably be able to get us stuff at the party”
“Sounds good” Sapnap said.
After about an hour of pregaming at Karl’s dorm, the three took and Uber to the house. The party was already going and Dream was the most drunk he had been in a while.
“Hey Alex!” Dream said once he found him in the kitchen, “Congrats man on the big win today”
“Thanks, it was a good game, I haven’t seen you in a while, how have you been?” Quackity asked.
“Pretty good” Dream lied. A party definitely wasn’t the place to get into his issues, especially since he didn’t want to worry Alex. Alex knew that Dream didn’t have the best past with his mental health so he understood why he was asking.
“That’s really good, I’m always here for you man” Alex assured with a smile, “You want a drink?”
“Yeah, anything you have is good” Dream responded.
Alex passed him a red solo cup of something sweet, and Dream gladly accepted it. The party was packed, but everyone was having a good time.
At a certain point Sapnap and Dream had went into the bathroom together. As Dream went to the bathroom, Sapnap noticed something red on his hips. Usually Dream has extra careful going to the bathroom around anyone, making sure his waistband stayed covering his hips, but in his very drunk state, it just slipped his mind.
Sapnap just stood there, seeing a few fresh cuts amongst some white scars on the sliver of Dream’s skin that was visible. He was going to talk to Dream about it later, but he knew right now was absolutely not the time.
Sapnap must’ve had a weird look on his face because Dream asked “You good man?”
“Yeah, yeah , sorry just thinking” Sapnap said, blowing off the question. This just made him so much more concerned about Dream.
Eventually Sapnap and Dream split up and Sapnap found his way to Quackity.
“Hey Sap, it’s been a while” Alex said, patting him on the shoulder.
“Yeah Alexxx..” Sapnap said.
“You okay?” Alex questioned.
“Yeah it’s just, I’m s-sorry if I’m over sharing right now but I’m just concerned about Dream. He just.. it’s a long story to explain but I’m just .. scared. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost him” Sapnap slurred.
“Woahh slow down there Nick, I’m sure he’s gonna be just fine. I think you’ve had a lot to drink, and I think you should talk to Dream tomorrow. Just relax for a minute” Alex said, confused but trying to comfort drunk Sapnap.
“Yeah, thankss man” Sapnap sighed.
“You want me to find Karl and tell him you’re ready to go?” Quackity asked.
“Yeah I think y-you should” Sapnap answered.
Eventually the three boys meet back up Ubered back to campus. Usually Sapnap spend the night at Karl’s on weekends, but he didn’t want to leave Dream alone drunk in their room. He was concerned about the cuts he saw, and wanted to ask him about it in the morning.
All three boys made it back to their beds safely and fell asleep instantly, except Sapnap. He sat up in his bed, thinking about Dream. We wondered if anyone else knew about his cuts, did Karl know? If Karl knew, why didn’t he tell Sapnap? How did Dream hide it this long. A million questions were running through his head, but he knew staying awake wouldn’t help answer them. Eventually he feel asleep, still anxious about what the next morning’s conversation would bring.
