pale fingers gently detached from sapnap’s more tan ones. florida sun was very good to their boyfriend, george thought. it wasn’t nearly as good to them, but sapnap looked very good when he was kissed by the sun so the brunette couldn’t complain. “nooo hold ‘m hand.” sapnap complained softly as his lover’s hand was pulled away from him. “angel i need to make our crowns.” george reasoned softly, gazing at the flowers around them and only picking the healthiest looking ones. they liked the older and more dead flowers, but sapnap was full of light and he deserved the most alive flowers to replicate the kind of person he was.
“but i wanna be close.” he whined softly to his partner, using his killer puppy dog eyes to get what he wants. “you can lay your head on my lap while i do it.” george gave in all too easily, much more susceptible to the puppy dog eyes than they’d like to be. their boyfriend seemed to like this solution because he’d almost immediately laid down in their lap. “can you play with my hair?” sapnap sounded all too excited for them to completely say no, but george’s fingers were already plucking flowers gently so it was obvious that they were occupied. “baby i’m busy, i promise i’ll play with your hair after. how’re we supposed to be kings if you don’t let me make our crowns, hm?” he nodded at that, watching as george’s fingers delicately began forming their flower crowns out of wildflowers.
they were currently in the field behind sapnap’s house since george lived much further in the city and they’d be lying if they said it wasn’t a peaceful change. the city was always busy, people pushing by one another without so much as a glance in their direction. sapnap’s field (which his family didn’t actually have ownership of) was the perfect summer spot. every year during the summer george’s family would stay with them and it gave the couple a chance to be together for a longer period of time. during the school year george lived in the city, but here is where they truly felt at home.
sapnap was their home, george thought.
people always said home was where the heart is, but for george sapnap was their home. they were only sixteen and yet the brunette was sure they’d never love like this again.
maybe they were just drunk off of the happiness the summer gave, but they couldn’t help but feel that the summer was their season. the winter was cold and bitter, the pair barely getting to see each other except for on christmas when george’s family drove down to pay them a visit. the summer was warm and hopeful, full of nights of lying in bed together during a warm summer night and catching fireflies for each other. the wildflowers in george’s nimble fingers wove around one another as expert hands fiddled with them until they were to their liking. “i’m really glad you’re here.” george looked down and smiled at their boyfriend whose eyes were shut peacefully, letting the sun warm their face.
they had to fight the urge to lean down and leave kisses all over his face, forcing themself to focus on the task at hand instead. “i’m glad i’m here too. i’ve missed you.” the brunette spoke with sincerity and sapnap acknowledged that. a thing for the pair was this constant unspoken longing, they longed for each other the entire year and now that they were finally together they couldn’t help but be a bit all over each other like they were now. “same here. kiss?” they did just that, leaning down and pressing a kiss to the other’s lips which were cracked because he always forgot lip balm. sapnap’s hand gently came up and framed george’s jaw, holding them gently as he leaned further into the kiss that was cut short a few minutes later.
“let me finish and you can get all the kisses you want, i promise.” he ignored that, going back in for another kiss and grinning as george allowed him to do so. they were like putty in the brunette’s hands and george couldn’t even bring themself to complain about it. they melted into sapnap’s hold, flower crown now forgotten as both of sapnap’s hands came to frame the other’s face, now thoroughly entrapping george in his hold. george always kissed like they’d never be kissed again while sapnap was lazier with it, taking his time to take george apart and bring them back together again. with this george let him lead, entire body relaxing as the boy in their lap treated them like glass.
“still wanna do the crowns?” sapnap was far too smug but george’s brain was already too mushy to even care, instead leaning back in and nosing along the boy’s collarbone. “shirt’s are stupid.” the brunette complained, pushing sapnap’s own out of the way so they could press light kisses to his shoulders as well. “i agree, but i need your mind to be a bit less foggy right now cause there’s something i wanna talk about.” that definitely caught their attention, lifting their head and eyeing the boy in their lap curiously. “nothing bad. just about, like, colleges. i think i wanna go to college in the city, and i know that's a few years away but i thought i’d throw that out there.” it warmed george’s heart to think sapnap also believed he’d never love like this again, so much so he was thinking far into the future and factoring their relationship into things.
“well obviously i’m gonna go to college in the city, i don’t really know what college but we have all the time in the world to figure that out.” talking about the future scared george a little, the brunette picking up the nearly completed flower crown in their hands beginning to finish it in order to avoid eye contact. “my love we have two years, but if you aren’t ready that’s okay. finish our cute little flower crowns so i can kiss the sense out of you again.” with the promise of being kissed senseless george worked at a faster pace, finishing the first flower crown and doing the second in about half the amount of time. sapnap was mostly silent as they did so, basking in the sunlight until he felt something being placed atop his head.
“finished?” he questioned, smiling as george’s own crown was placed atop their head. “finished. you like it?” he simply nodded at that, sitting up from george’s lap so he could view them properly. “god you’re pretty, you know that?” they flushed at that, rolling their eyes at sapnap and dismissing the compliment quickly. sapnap frowned at that, refusing to let them believe otherwise. “george you’re so very pretty. my pretty boy. and girl, and other. all of it, you’re all of it.” he tripped over his words as he spoke but george found it extremely endearing, fighting the urge to bury their head in his chest to hide the redness spreading across their cheeks. it wasn’t that sapnap didn’t know the terms george was comfortable with, he just knew they liked them all so he’d decided to use them all.
“you’re an idiot, you know that?”
sapnap did indeed know that since george told him every day, but they’ve been together long enough for him to know that was their way of expressing affection.
“i love you too.”
