Chapter Text
“How long do we have to stay at this party? I have plans that involve removing every item you’re wearing until the only thing you’re left with is your ring,” Fitz growled into her ear before pressing a kiss to her neck.
Olivia laughed and pushed back into Fitz who tightened his arms around her and squeezed lightly before he loosened his hold. “You’re the one who insisted on throwing this engagement party--rather hastily I might add.”
“The more people that know I’m claimed by you the better. I want there to be no doubt that you’re my partner in every way that matters,” Fitz stated matter of factly. She felt his smile against her neck.
“Keep talking like that and I just might agree to ditch our party,” Liv said, turning around to face him.
‘“Let’s mingle. The sooner we make our rounds the sooner we can get started.” He pressed a quick kiss to her lips and interlaced their fingers.
As they worked their way deeper into his parents’ home they were greeted by a man who could have passed as Fitz’s brother. He stood inches over six feet with blond hair and green eyes.
“Fitz! This must be your beautiful better half. Pleasure to meet you, I’m Kip Grant.” Kip grabbed the hand that Lex offered and pressed a small kiss to the back of it which drew a growl from Fitz.
“Don’t mind your cousin, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Olivia but call me Liv.” She couldn’t help trying to catalog the similarities and differences between him and Fitz. “I almost thought you were brothers.”
“We get that a lot. Our fathers are twins so we’re close. My actual twin, Jackson, is somewhere but you’ll be able to tell since he’s the ugly twin,” Kip joked and he showed off a deep dimple in his right cheek. They all laughed at his comment.
“Stop flirting with my Livvie. Get a woman of your own,” Fitz joked. He grunted as he elbowed him.
“In due time, cousin. Do you have any sisters, Liv? A twin, perhaps?” Kip raised his eyebrows suggestively and winked.
“I don’t have a twin but I have a younger sister. She should be arriving soon,” Liv offered.
“I’ll be on the lookout for her then, I’ll let you two enjoy the party. I think I’ll go and get some fresh air,” Kip stated. He gave them a quick wave before he walked toward the back of the house.
“We should save your sister the trouble of dealing with Kip.”
“He was nice and shares your genes so you know he's good looking. I’d be more worried about him having his hands full with Brooklyn.” She shook her head as she imagined the fireworks.
“Enough worrying about my cousin and your sister, let’s get through this as quickly as possible. I’m getting more creative as time drags on,” Fitz promised.
Livvie laughed at the seriousness in his tone and a small shiver went through her. She knew their private afterparty would be memorable. They were one step closer to officially starting their forever and she knew that she had the right partner for the journey.
