Work Text:
Regulus's grinning, and Lily thinks he's the brightest star.
She swoons when he says, "nowhere near as bright as you."
With him, there are no misunderstandings, no arguments, no tears. With him, she doesn't need any words; he can hear every thought, sense every need.
"Lilly, don't conceal, don't stow things away."
She thinks about love. She thinks about secrets. She thinks of kisses she'd rather not forget. She wants to tell him she is sorry, that there can be no place for them.
He laughs and pulls her into his arms, "this is now, let's not question, let's just savour, let's just be." And it's strange how when he says it lightly, her easy heart can soar with his.
In the grass, he lies back and holds her close. Safe in his embrace, she rests her head against his heart. Under the deepest of deep blue skies, he says, "all this is ours," and gently kisses her.
When gooseflesh spreads across her shin, she thinks there are always shadows, deep dark shadows deep inside.
He caresses her hair softly. "Please, Lilly, stay with me; let me love you today. Let me go at twilight, and I'll light your way."
