Chapter Text

Classes began as normal as it can get; both arrived mere minutes before being considered late and they were scolded by Ida for not being fifteen minutes early. It was an interesting sight to take in. Bakugo charged in with an unapologetic vibe radiating off of him while the smaller figure of the two, Ochako snuck behind him, trying her best to conceal her pink butterfly blush. Her walk was almost similar to a dog with its tail hanging between its legs in a frightened state; she felt everyone’s eyes on her. But they were in fact on Bakugo. Specifically, his face.

“I thought you guys weren’t going to make it!! As heroes in the making, pro heroes in the making, you guys have to be here before time!! How unbecoming of you two!” His limbs and hands were perfectly straight and his movements were robotic. It was unbelievably dorky but endearing.

Bakugo didn’t even bother humoring him by arguing back, making his way to his seat. Kaminari, Sero, and Mina were way too busy snickering to care that Bakugo wasn’t talking back to Ida; he never backed down from bickering with Ida.

“Looking a little rough there.” Mina giggled.

“Awww, bakubro, did someone steal your lunch money?” Kaminari sneered.

“What. a. shiner.” Sero whistled.

Kirishima was just curious as all hell about how that happened.

“I wonder if the person who did that is still alive, blasty,” her pink, shitface grin made Bakugo actually acknowledge the little comments coming from the peanut gallery by darting his eyes back at her and that was enough to make the whole Bakusquad eye each other, mischievously.

Mina was the only one who got away with teasing Bakugo the most compared to the rest of the squad; she knew it and she always pushed it. Her amber eyes flicked up to Ochako with curiosity, she leaned forward, “it looks like she’s still alive, softie~,” Mina hissed adorably in his ear. A little smirk plastered across his face, watching the pain in the ass lean back into her seat who was peering over at Ochako. A chorus of hushed, ‘oooh’s formed between the guys overhearing Pinky’s roast as class was beginning.

Only a soft, “shut it, raccoon eyes,” left his mouth.

His nonviolent reaction only intrigued her more because she’d never suspected blasty and miss mochi to be anything more than classmates/acquaintances. Her mind immediately went to assuming a fight or a feud was afoot, but she didn’t suspect Bakugo having serious feelings for the cutie. It didn’t seem like anything that would ever happen, at least, in this lifetime. Her conclusion came from her confidence that he’s not Chako’s type and she would never give Bakugo a chance.

The giggling and teasing continued for the majority of the day because of the freshly noticeable red mark on his cheek from the slipper Ochako threw at him. She apologized and apologized and apologized; she apologized on the way to class for doing that, claiming she didn’t know her strength, but he never responded to her. She even shot him six texts apologizing, but he was struck. He was hurt. He was most certainly pouting from the well-deserved hit.

Nonetheless, they went through homeroom, English, and global history with little to no issues. Ochako tried to focus, but all she could think about was him and how soft his lips were; it was like she was in another world. She didn’t even notice how intensely Bakugo was staring at her… even Deku was watching her. His green eyes gazed slowly back and forth between Ochako and Kacchan; it was weird that they both were later than usual and at the same time. Especially since both of them, mostly Ochako,  looked flustered, entering the room.

Ain’t no way I’m the only one who noticed this?? Wha—

Deku was extra attentive and what some would consider nosey for what occurred; he always had a hunch Bakugo had a little crush on Ochako since she was the only one he would listen to when she would correct his attitude or fearlessly told him off. Yet, it was written all over Ochako’s face. She was extremely deep in thought. Although her head was a complete mess, she was scribbling notes and listening to the lecture, but she wasn’t comprehending it whatsoever. It was going into one ear and out the other. Sadly, she wanted to throw her head down on her desk to kill the last brain cell she possessed to stop daydreaming and fantasizing about what happened and how much further she wanted it to go. On the other hand, Bakugo hid it extremely well; people only assumed he was in a good mood, minus the faint bruise slowly making an appearance on his face. He wasn’t as quick to yell at his classmates.

His red eyes couldn’t stop watching her; he wanted to devour her and leave her shaking and begging for more. Sex wasn’t anything new or foreign to him; he enjoyed it. He wanted to enjoy it while he was young, however, he wasn’t the type to lead girls on and lie to get them into bed. His approach was always being straightforward about what he wanted and leaving it up to them to decide if they wanted to make the mistake of hooking up with him. Of course, he talked game to each of them, to the point he had a rotation of the young women he liked being physically involved with. That’s all it was. It was purely sex for him. Safe sex , specifically. He would never raw dogged his hookups, no matter the temptation, offers, or reassurance of birth control and being std/sti free. He even tested on a regular basis or immediately after having sex with someone new.

His feelings were hitting hard; he was in the middle of the school day, contemplating hanging up his thot shorts and retiring from the streets to start cleaning up his image for her . There were never any feelings involved on his end, for the obvious reason, his heart was reserved for Cheeks only.

He kept groaning to himself, replaying over and over in his head her begging him for more. Being the more experienced one of the two in that department, he should have had more discipline in controlling his mind, but it didn’t feel real. He wondered how long they would have together before she had to go to that stupid girls’ sleepover. That was if he could spend some time with her.

The bell rang, dismissing class, which meant it was their lunch hour. Bakugo saw Ochako walking by herself and was ready to swoop in and ask her if she wanted to spend lunch with him…. his table of friends. However, that’s what Deku did. He knowingly cut Bakugo off, pretending he was innocent, “hey o-ochako! I was wondering if you’d like to sit with Ida and I today? It’s been a hot minute.” The blond’s left eye began to twitch, but he was trying to refrain from causing a scene and outing himself and his feelings to Ochako. How fucking dare he! Red eyes followed Deku and Ochako walking together down the hall until they were out of sight.

“If you stare any longer, you’re gonna burn a hole into the back of his head.” Kirishima stood next to him the entire time observing the situation.

“I could only fucking dream.” He spat out with a wicked little snarl.

“I guess something did happen between you two?” Kiri basically made a le lenny face.

“Yeah, kinda,” Bakugo started to walk to the lunchroom with Kirishima following him, quietly telling him in questionable detail about what occurred between the two this morning.

“That’s why she yelled she doesn't gotta shit. You’re cruel.” the redhead howled, but he needed to comment on the bigger news he heard. “So you didn’t listen to me.”

“Wha”

“I told you not to advertise yourself as a free fuck. She may not expect it to be more than a casual thing. Kinda messed up you teased her like that, but I mean, I guess that worked in your favor.” He panted a little.

“You think so?” Bakugo slowed down his pace so he didn’t make the other run to keep up.

“Yeah! She looks so distracted… I bet that’s all she’s been thinking about.” He reassured his buddy, “but Mina may start catching on and I don’t know if you want Mina involved.”

“How about you worry about getting involved with Mina.”

Shots fired.

“Whooaaa I thought we declared a truce last night.”  Kiri dramatically threw his hand over his mouth jokingly.

“Like hell we did.” Bakugo snapped.

“All I’m saying, as your best friend—“

“I didn’t know we were even friends.”

“—hilarious. Anyways, before I was rudely interrupted… as your best friend , she’s either going to meddle or out your feelings to Ochako before you can… OR both.”

“I hate how right you are…” He stopped in the middle of the hallway, “I don’t like leaving Raccoon Eyes out of the loop. I know she feels some type of way when we don’t include her and I don’t want to deal with the backlash of her finding out from anyone besides us.”

“Wait. You consider her more of a friend to you than I am to you??”

“You can’t compete where you don’t compare.” The blond nonchalantly shrugged.

“Awwww… fuck you.” The two boys laughed before they rushed off to get lunch.

Ochako sat down at their usual spot with a tray of food with Deku and strangely only Deku; Ida didn’t know about the invitation of Ochako and he already made plans to sit with the girls from class. As awkward as the situation was, she didn’t care anymore about her hurt feelings while Deku did feel some type of way. It irked him how quickly she moved on from her crush on him and suspected it was Bakugo, his childhood friend. Caring less if it was a childhood friend, he still was bothered and wanted to approach it carefully. Maybe it was selfish, but he still cared.

“Soooo… How are you feeling?” He sheepishly asked, drinking some water.

“Oh, I’m great. How are you?” She responded not realizing right away what he meant by asking if she was okay. “Look. I may have overreacted. I don’t want to lose our friendship over something dumb like that.” Her tone was so sincere and kind, but he felt his upper lip twitch, forcing a smile. She was playing with her food, resting her face in her hand and feeling her neck beginning to burn from thinking about the sensations she felt earlier from the jerk that is Bakugo.

“That was awfully quick…” he nervously laughed.

“What do you mean?” Her embarrassing thoughts were cut short.

“I mean… You moved on pretty quick.” Bitter thoughts floated in the back of his mind, but he knew those thoughts he was thinking were wrong and ignored them.

“What? Did you want me to beg for you?” Her voice became tense.

 “No. I’m sorr-“

“No. I’m sorry I inflated your ego so much that you think I should fight for you while you’re dating another girl.” She calmly interrupted him.

“Ochako. Let me explai-“

“Maybe this was a mistake. I thought our friendship would go back to normal and now you’re being weird about it.” She was ready to start grabbing her stuff.

“COULD YOU LET ME SPEAK?” He blurted out, leaving Ochako to pause and glare at him. “I agree it was petty and messed up that I brought it up like that. I’ll be honest. Again. I did have a crush on you too and I had no idea you liked me. So seeing you and Bakugo together like that kinda… stung. I have a better understanding of how you felt because of Melissa and me. I guess I wanna apologize again because of it, but… I won’t lie, I’m a little jealous.”

“What?” Her amber eyes blinked at Midoriya like she was a deer in headlights.

Bakugo finally sat at a table with his gang where he had the perfect view of her and Deku; it cluttered his mind to the point he was neither eating nor interacting with his friends, just staring at her face. He missed most of it and he wondered what it would be like to be a fly on the wall to hear what they were talking about.

“You’re jealous? Of what?” Her voice was full of confusion.

“You, my friend and former crush, and… Bakugo, my childhood friend.” He spoke slowly as his face turned bright red.

“There’s nothing going on between Bakugo and me.” She denied it since it was too soon to make that assumption.

“Uh huh… You’re telling me Bakugo, who shows up to class a half hour early every day, managed to be barely on time with you following him shortly after?” He squinted his eyes, “your face was bright red when you walked in… and you're saying there isn’t anything going on?”

“H-He was just helping me.” Ochako suddenly started to feel a gaze burning a hole in her forehead; she saw red eyes from the corner of her eye and he was staring at her. She was getting flustered and tried to relax her expression.

“Helping you?” Midoriya didn’t mean to sound disrespectful, but… he was skeptical.

“Yeah!” He’s very helpful.” She continued to play it off.

Green ruffles of hair leaned towards her over the lunch table and whispered, “is he helping you… orgasm?” Red blushes formed across both of their faces; Bakugo slammed his fist against the table and was ready to bolt over there to kick that nerd’s ass. Eventually, Denki, Kirishma, Mina, and Sero were taken aback and all staring along with him, mortified by the tension, but curious. That nerd sat back and nervously laughed, seeing how Ochako’s face said it all without her saying a word, “You don’t have to deny it. There’s nothing wrong with having a little fun.”

“What did he say?!” He raised his voice, having zero clue what they were talking about.

“Are… you jealous?” Mina tore her eyes away from Deku and Chako to look at Bakugo and it was unbelievably silent between the teenagers until he subconsciously growled in response.

“It’s not like that!” He realized what she asked and scoffed, but he was jealous.

“I don’t know man. It looks like maybe they're an item… Maybe I’m wrong…” Sero casually suggested, lowkey, trying to egg Bakugo on.

“No one asked you, flat face.” Bakugo bitterly spoke, trying to keep his cool.

“Midoriya is flexing a better game, bakubro,” Kaminari followed Sero, “it’s okay to take the loss and keep it moving. You can get four hotter women in one night.”

Mina side-eyed the whole squad, “what do you guys know that I don’t?” She especially glared at Kirishima, “is this an inside joke I’m not in on?”

Sero scolded Kaminari with only a glare, ready to strangle him for going too far, but fixed his face turning to an upset Mina for being left out of the Bakusquad tea. “Pinky, we try not to talk shop in front of you, out of respect for you.”

“Talk shop? That’s never been a problem with us before, especially Bakugo whenever he talks about his ungodly hookups and who gives the best head.” The pinkette crossed her arms, “you mean you don’t talk about your crushes?” Her face read disappointment, “you have that little trust in me?”

“No. Mina, it’s not like that at all.” Kirishima tried to reassure her.

“Oh yeah?” She raised an eyebrow, “Then who’s your crush since you say you guys trust me?”

The guys all felt a wave of panic, considering she was asking the guy who had the biggest crush on her who his crush was; Kaminari covered his face with his hands, trying to contain his laughter because he knew it was going to be a big disaster.

“Uhm… Uh…” Sero waved his hand behind Mina to try to communicate to Kirishima to tell her or she’ll kill them all for keeping her out of the loop; he was trying to think of someone who either resemble Mina in looks or personality, “Set—“

“He's just being shy, Mina babes. Him and I, both have a huge crush on you!” Sero interrupted her intense gaze at Kirishima and tried to help his bro out by NOT naming some other chick. “You can’t corner the poor guy like that when you’re the only chick he gushes about.”

“What?!” Mina‘s pink cheeks turned bright red, “you two have a crush on me?? I’m sorry! That was wayyyy more than I need to know!” Her hands cupped her cheeks with a cute, eyes-closed smile drawing out how flattered she was.

“Exactly why you don’t need to know everything we talk about…” Bakugo mumbled with a little smirk on his face, examining Kirishima who looked undoubtedly confused by her response. As much as he was irritated, he was also content knowing Kirishima got outted for his crush on Mina.

“Yeah… well.” Kirishima’s face shrieked in humiliation, particularly with how she took the news of him and Sero having crushes on her. Poor guy was left wondering if she was happy Sero liked her.

“We’ll talk later. Change of topic. So Bakugo, you and cheeks…” she grinned mischievously, “what’s going onnnn? Spill! I had no idea you had feelings. You’re such a big hoe, I’d never thought you’d be going after her!” She was lucky the lunchroom was packed and with all the racket going on, Ochako would be barely able to hear their conversation even with them being only a table over.

“I never said I had feelings for her!” Bakugo got defensive.

“You didn’t have toooo~. You talk about all these girls and I can’t even keep up with who's who, but you're scared to talk about her? Tells me she’s more than a hookup. You should just ask her out! Stupid Deku messed it up!”

“Wait.. you know what happened between those two?” Bakugo blurted out, actually starting to eat his lunch; he was genuinely happy that Mina discovered his little crush on Cheeks because he always respected and appreciated her feedback and advice.

A smile slowly formed across her face as all the guys leaned in, wanting to know the deets too. “You guys are worse than girls when it comes to gossip.”

“No! No. No.” Kaminari shook his head, “well… yes. Yes. I’ve been dying to know”

“I won’t lie... I need to know!” Sero dramatically whimpered. “I’m a gossip whore, please, satisfy my itch with some juicy deets.”

“C’mon… spit it out!” Speaking with his mouth full, Bakugo was impatiently waiting.

“Didn’t you tell me to shut it in class today, blasty~?”

“Raccoon eyes, this isn’t the time.” Cue the death glare, more like glares.

“Ok. Ok. Ok. Jeez, what a tough crowd.” The alien giggled, signaling the squad to huddle closer as if anyone was eavesdropping, “so. I saw Ochako in the bathroom, clearly devastated and acting like she wasn’t just crying at our last. school. dance.”

“I’ll kill that nerd.” Bakugo interrupted.

“Blasty shhshhhhhhsshshshshshsh.” Kaminari nudged him and shockingly, he didn’t attack him for touching him. “Go on."

“So I was like Chako, babe, what’s going on? This isn’t you. Go have fun. Go get your man! Make a move!” Bakugo rolled his eyes, watching Pinky talk with her hands. “And she said, ‘he’s not my man.’ So I said, ‘what do you mean? He ain’t gonna be your man if you’re sulking in the bathroom.’ Then she didn’t respond so I pushed her a little by saying ‘did something happen?’ and she told me that she was trying to confess her feeling to Deku and Deku told her he did have feelings for her… But he started dating Melissa!” All the boys gasped. “Can you believe it? I know I can’t!”

“What? Melissa? That blonde chick?” Kaminari was confused, “I would’ve never thought her over Chako in a million years! #teamchako!”

“She’s cute, but I always thought Ochako and Deku were end game honestly.” Sero leaned back.

“Shush! We don’t pin girls against each other.” Kiri stopped the team Melissa hate, “Deku is the one in the wrong.” Mina flashed a little smile of adoration at Kiri when he spoke. “If he liked her, instead of leading her on and dating some other chick, he could’ve told her. You know spare her feelings in some way? At least, before or after the dance so she wouldn’t be hit with a train of emotions and rejected on,” he began to mock Mina, “our. last. school. dance.”

“I was thinking more that he should’ve spoken to her about it the second he felt his feelings changed because how stupid is he to not realize she has the biggest crush on him? However, I agree. The time and place was wrong. He could’ve even told her ‘we should talk about this later, I’m overwhelmed with this being our last dance.’ And I’m certain she wouldn’t feel any offense to it.” Mina added.

“There would’ve never been a perfect time or place to reject someone. He didn’t expect to break her heart like that and probably didn’t think she felt the same way about him. I can’t blame him. If I was him, I’d think she was out of my league too.” Bakugo chimed in. “Could’ve he done it differently, yeah sure, but we gotta be a little fair in saying, ‘we all suck at feelings and communicating’ so who are we to judge?”

“How… insightful, especially coming for you…” Kaminari side-eyed the notsoexplosive blond.

“That’s because Ochako is up for grabs and he’s trying to get her to fall under his spell.” Sero jabbed Kaminari.

“More like hop on a spell…” Mina teased, “soooo… what happened between you and Miss Mochi over there? Why were you guys barely on time? Did you hit it??”

Bakugo rolled his eyes, “It’s a long story….”

“He's clearly practicing his voodoo to get the girl he's had the biggest crush on since first year." Sero interrupted.

"Since first year?!" Pinky exclaimed, "you kept me out of the loop since first year? How cruel! I could've been got you set up with her!!"

Her soft voice asked, “what about Melissa? What’s going on with her? How’s the long-distance treating you?” Playing it cool, Ochako didn’t want to cross a boundary, but there was no ignoring the elephant in the room.

“She's been upset with the distance.” He wasn’t lying. “She’s also been less responsive to my texts and I don’t know what to do to reassure her. I told her I’ll head out to be with her once I graduate so we can be together and I can pursue my career with her by my side.”

“Oh. I had no idea. I’m sorry she feels that way about your relationship. I think it’s nice you’re willing to uproot yourself from everything and everyone you’ve ever known to be with her. It sounds romantic.”

“Why are you apologizing? I’m sure her feelings of uneasiness or doubt will pass. I think she sucks at expressing them,” his digits danced in his hands, nervously, “so you and Bakugo?”

“Deku…” she groaned. “Aren’t we talking about you and Melissa right now?”

“I’m sorry. I won’t pry.” The lunch between the two became quickly awkward, “you’re right, we were. Well, she isn’t really talking to me or opening up right now and I don’t know what to do.”

“Have you messaged her about how you feel?”

Green locks of hair followed the soft shake of his head to indicate a no . With a crisp look of certainty, “I did message her, but I don’t want to push her too much. I’m worried she might be losing feelings for me.”

“You think she stopped having feelings overnight because of the long distance?” He pondered that question for a moment as she scowled at him, “no. She didn’t. Melissa is allowed to be upset and take the space she needs to process her emotions, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reach out to talk to her about it. Don’t abandon her in her head while it’s flooding with doubts.”

It was quite the parallel for her considering how she was just Melissa, trying to process her hurt and emotions for him. Still didn’t make this shit right and she shouldn’t give any advice to someone as dense as Midoriya about women, but she still considered them friends.

“Maybe actually talk to her. I’m sure she’s waiting for you to reach out with substance about the relationship you guys have instead of being like, "oh well she hasn’t responded to my ‘ wyd are you ok fine don’t talk to me ’ texts. I guess it’s over.” That’s not how you treat someone you care about,” She adorably mocked his voice for the moment, “you can do better by communicating. Talk about how you miss her and things will fall into place after you graduate. Tell her how you feel about the relationship and maybe actually call her and talk on the phone so nothing gets miscommunicated.”

"I'll try that... thank you, Ochako," Deku couldn't help but to start feeling better about their friendship, which the feeling was mutual.

Class 1-A’s second to last class for the day was rescue training, which was Uravity’s time to shine, and that she fucking did. Every single time there was a rescue course or training, her quirk definitely reigned supreme with her ability to float rubble to find and get civilians out of danger. Her personality always reigned supreme too with her smile and reassurance to make them feel safe; of course, he loved watching her run the course when they weren’t on it at the same time. He was constantly mesmerized by her confidence and how badass she was. There wasn't a single doubt in the blond's mind that she'll be an amazing hero and he looked forward to the future of working with her in the real world with real missions.

The last period was a free period to practice moves, hang out, or even head home, but for the most part, the entire class would always hang around the training area/course and practice or suggest different moves to test out to each other. The blond never missed the opportunity to practice, but today, he was obviously distracted. He stood back and watched Ochako hang around and practice with Jirou, Froppy, and Momo while shockingly, Mina pulled away from her girlfriends to steal Kirishima from him to practice with. He knew Raccoon eyes felt the same about Kiri, it was only a matter of time before she found out and started torturing him. Bakugo’s gaze went from his two friends to Cheeks, again and this time, he felt inspired to write a little love note to her. He stole one of the blank sign-in sheets under the used ones, after Aizawa left, and the pen, beginning to scribble a little poem.

the entirety of the galaxy and stars are held in your eyes, warm and bright.

never once could i have fathomed we’d collide, but we did.

and the entire universe lit up, vivid.

Pondering and humiliated about how to give her the little note, he considered discarding it since it was too soon to start leaving her love letters. Instead, he decided to head out early and got changed out of his hero suit to his uniform, and snuck out. Being one of the few to return to the dorms, he folded the paper and gently slide it under her dorm room door. He'll deal with the consequences later after she reads it. Until then, he went to his room and started some schoolwork, keeping an eye on the clock. Bakugo was a man of his word and he was going to text after the school day ends.

Fifteen minutes.

Notes:

i'm determined to complete or semicomplete this fanfic since it's a year old.

Notes:

I already started the second chapter! Any constructive criticism is welcomed. I do plan on keeping this a slow burn kinda fanfic and I'll add tags as I go along. NOT 100% sure where I'm going with this, but I have an idea!
