Chapter Text
They had successfully got a few cities into bunkers when the explosions began. Yamcha stared upwards, watching as a large skyscraper toppled, imploding on itself as a single person flew through it. His eyes caught those of the one above them. Fear filled him. This wasn’t the Goku he knew… This was the one called Kakarot.
Bulma walked up behind him, only for him to push her back into the bunker. She screamed banging on the door. But no one would allow her outside.
Nappa, Raditz, all of the remaining z fighters were taking in something truly horrifying. A family was running towards them, but Kakarot’s arm was focused in. They had no time as the blast was made, leaving nothing but scorch marks on the ground. “What is an ant to a man.” Nappa said. Those dark eyes glared down at them before landing. A sadistic looking grin stared back at them. There was no hesitation in those eyes.
“Goku?” Krillin asked, wondering where this person had come from. When Yamcha had said that Goku would be the one to attack them, he didn’t think his friend would be this twisted. Goku showed his rage to his enemies, never his allies.
Kakarot only chuckled. “That name. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it.” It felt like his emotions had been wiped clean. His thoughts were only on Vegeta locked in that cage. “It’s no matter. I will end it quickly.”
“Did that Vegeta guy do this to you!” Krillin shouted.
“You dare to use his name!” Kakarot snapped. He felt the hair stand on the back of his neck. He didn’t know how he had even shown affection to those before him. The earth saiyan charged an attack in his hands. His scowl growing. “Only I get to use his name.”
“Krillin move!” Raditz shoved the shorter man out of the way, taking the hit. He hunched forward, blood shooting out of his mouth. He held onto the wound, finding the blast went all the way though him. Raditz coughed. When did Kakarot get this strong?
Nappa’s eyes went wide. “We need a medic now!”
“We don’t have one.” Tien answered, all of them looking fearful. This was it. They were all going to die.
Kakarot stalked closer. “Trying to be brave, I see. How very, honorable.” He almost flinched, memories coming back to him, but he brushed them off. The danger was still real. His love was still locked away. Possibly even dead at this point. He refused to stall.
Krillin had dove in closer to Raditz, taking the dying saiyan’s hand. “You’re not allowed to die. We had plans remember?”
“I…I can’t help that now.” Raditz coughed again, his eyes finding his brother’s “You can’t kill him. He’s mine.”
“I’ll kill who I wish.” Kakarot snapped, enraged. “Falling for my scraps I see.”
“Goku, I could have never loved you.” Krillin stated, feeling horrified at the person in front of him. “I love Raditz.”
Kakarot only chuckled. “Spare me. You have no idea what love feels like. What true connection feels like.”
“What is a man to a king.” Nappa said, standing in front of the couple. “If anyone understands, it would be me. The mating bond is powerful, Kakarot. It will make you do things you would never dream of. The prince is in danger. He has to be if you’re like this.”
“Don’t pretend.” Kakarot began.
“I lost my mate at the hands of Frieza, Kakarot. He cannot be trusted.” Nappa said, his eyes misty.
Kakarot raised his hand. “Then you understand why I must do this. Why you all must die.”
Krillin looked up in horror. “You spent months trying to find us, to save us…just to kill us now?”
“Yes.” Kakarot stated. Raising his hand once more. It would be quick, then he could move on to the bunker. This was his only option. The life Vegeta had promised him, he wanted that more than anything. Not even the fires of hell could stop him now.
Vegeta pushed against the glass. It was tempered well, he had to admit that. But everything, no matter what it was, had a weak point. He just had to find it. Frieza had left him here to die, with the Ginyu force as his bodyguards. He glared at them, the water drawing up to his stomach. It was leaking in faster than Frieza had said it would. He already knew the frost demon’s plan. He had heard him when he left. All he could think about was the torture that his mate was going through. Having to kill the people he had once saved. This was Kakarot’s home.
To have it sullied this way wasn’t right. They were supposed to rebuild their lives here. They would fix up Kakarot’s home. Add on as they had children, watch them grow, grow stronger, fall more in love with each day, grow old. Vegeta snarled. He was too close. There was no way he was going to allow anyone to pull this life away from him. The life he and Kakarot deserved. He punched the glass, finding it still whole before him. The Ginyus laughed, but he kept up. The water inched up towards his chin. His hair hanging down around his shoulders as he continued, refusing to give up. He hit a new spot above him, seeing the glass crack. He grinned. Hitting the spot again on repeat. Glass cutting his hands as he made his prison shatter around him.
The Ginyus moved preparing to attack. Jeice and Recoome diving forward, only for the prince to dodge their attacks. Vegeta twisted around, landing a galic gun in Guldo’s face. The short man, falling over dead. He snarled. It appeared that Ginyu had left to inform Frieza. Leaving him with the 3 remaining squad members. “Let’s end this.” All 3 shot energy blasts his way, but something told him not to move, instead he blocked them as if they were nothing. “Where is my warrior?” he asked, confusing them as he jetted forward, shoving his arm through Burter’s chest.
Jeice and Recoome stared in horror. There was a twisted looking grin pointed their way. “We don’t know what happened to your lover?” Jeice began, only for the prince to shove his knee into the alien’s chest. Blood sprang free from the alien’s mouth as Vegeta twisted around, hitting Jeice in the back of the head with a galic gun, disintegrating him.
The prince turned to face Recoome, but the redhead had run off. He growled, then closed his eyes. Using the bond, he wondered if he could find his mate. He pushed out trying to sense where Kakarot could be. Hopefully, he wasn’t too late. He rushed as he felt a powerful presence in the east. It was malicious. Meaning it could be Frieza, but he was willing to take that chance. His Kakarot wasn’t a monster, but under the stress of the bond, that could change. He moved faster becoming a streak across the sky.
He sped through a city, finding the carnage. This wasn’t the work of Frieza’s men. These deaths were fast, swift, but gory at the same time. He felt a stirring below. Who would have thought…his Kakarot had this in him. He shook his head. Now was not the time to be getting aroused. Fires burned around him as he caught a hint of orange in his sight below him. He drew closer, finding the midget holding what looked like a dying Raditz. The humans looked terrified. Smoke filled the sky as fires grew. His eyes zeroed on his warrior. His eyes dark, serious…sexy as hell. This wasn’t just his warrior. This was what the angel of death looked like. Pure heat consumed the prince. He had always known there were two sides to his lover. The fun loving Goku and his warrior Kakarot. He listened in hearing just how harsh his mate’s words were. The level of devotion was striking. The prince purred.
He knew he wanted to be with Kakarot forever, but this was overwhelming. He dove forward, his hair still damp as he landed in front of his mate, grabbing the warrior’s hand containing the energy he planned to fire at his comrades with one hand and the front of his warrior’s gi with the other. He tugged down Kakarot’s gi, forcing their lips together, while making the energy in the other go skyward. The sky lit up as Kakarot registered who he was. Kakarot’s lips were fierce, as if trying to make sure this wasn’t an illusion. As the energy dissipated, Vegeta removed his hands from both spots, bringing them together around his mate’s neck. At the same time, he felt those strong hands dragging him as close as possible.
There was a whistling sound that stunned them for a moment as they both turned red. Vegeta from embarrassment and Goku from his actions. They didn’t let go of each other though. Instead, the two of them only faced the others.
“Thank Kami.” Yamcha said, trying to splint Tien’s leg. They were all as good as dead a moment ago.
Raditz was still pale, but with Nappa giving the all clear, Bulma ran out with a bag of senzu beans. They had planned as well as they could. All eyes stared at the newcomers. Raditz even pulled Krillin onto his lap in an effort to protect him. There was a new fear now as they stared at Goku.
Goku fidgeted. “Um…”
“Come on now, apologize!” Krillin spat.
Vegeta let out a snarl. “He has to do no such thing.” The prince still had a lot of hatred for this one. He scanned the group finding Raditz trying to hold the smaller man back. “Raditz, control your boy toy of the week.”
This time Raditz growled back. “You’re one to talk!”
Goku snarled, but Vegeta placed his hand on Kakarot’s chest. “Unlike you, we are bound. Till the day our lives end, he is mine and I am his. Can you spout the same?” The prince stated clearly.
“Stop fighting!” Yamcha spat, getting everyone’s attention. “We still have a problem. That Frieza guy is still out there, and I doubt he’ll be happy to find this planet still occupied.”
Vegeta stared at this human. “He’s most interested in me and Kakarot.” The prince stated. “He learned of our attachment and used it against us.”
“I didn’t expect him to be a peeping tom.” Goku answered, turning red.
Raditz glared at the two of them. “Let me get this straight. While all of us were prisoners, the two of you went through with the mating bond. The wave of endless lust. You gave in and let us rot!” He stood feeling furious.
Goku glared back at his brother. “Like your one to talk. You may have been locked up, but we’ve been fighting. Both of us almost died more than once. Don’t get on your high horse!”
“What’s a horse?” Raditz said, getting a shrug from Nappa. Goku turned back to Vegeta and found the prince also confused.
“I’m still trying to find out what a peeping tom is.” Nappa said.
Bulma giggled. “A horse is an animal you ride. A peeping tom refers to someone watching you being intimate or naked without your consent.” The saiyans nodded at her. “Look it doesn’t matter who suffered more. You guys got to work together to get rid of Frieza. If we don’t do that, we’re all dead.”
“Listen to Bulma.” Tien and Yamcha said together.
Raditz grumbled. “Yeah, that bitch is a fucking treasure.” She began to shout at him. “I know you don’t approve of me and my lover, but you’re a hypocrite. Being so about my brother’s wellbeing and feelings and disregarding Krillin’s.”
Bulma glared at Raditz. “Don’t get me started on you two.” Then she turned to Goku with a smile. “So, this is the guy?” She looked over Vegeta, noting how the prince refused to let go of Goku’s hand. Their tails were still intertwined. She giggled. “I will say your taste in men has improved.”
The prince grinned back at her. He was going to like this woman. “I believe I told him the same.”
“Confident too.” Bulma said, “I’d say he was made for you, Goku.” She said looking Vegeta over.
Goku blushed as his prince gazed up at him. “Yeah…you could say that.” He smiled.
Radtiz made a retching sound as Krillin glared at the two of them. “I told you hypocrites.”
Krillin sighed. “We just have to prove them wrong then.” He found himself annoyed with the prince. Something about how Vegeta glared at him made his skin crawl. As if the prince wanted him nowhere near his precious warrior. Didn’t Vegeta know that Goku almost killed them all? Besides, Krillin wanted nothing to do with Goku in his bed. The prince’s gaze changed looking towards the sky. They all followed suit.
“He’s coming.” Vegeta said it so clearly. “Ginyu and Recoome are probably with him.”
Goku nodded. “We’ll have to remain focused. It was how we were caught earlier.”
“Yes, one wrong move and he’ll destroy all of us.” Vegeta began to think of a plan. The others should focus on Ginyu and Recoome. We can go after Frieza.”
“Why you two?” Krillin snapped.
Vegeta turned back, sending a dark glare the short man’s way. “If it is anyone but Kakarot and I, we might as well prepare our graves.”
With that the prince and Goku walked away from the group, towards whatever fate lay before them.
