Chapter Text
You gripped your friend's hand, running through the dark woods as howls ripped around you both.
You and her had no business messing with a spell book - why had you done it? These things weren’t real, they couldn’t be. What had originally been harmless fun had turned into waking up in dark woods, both filled with terror and confusion.
You didn’t know where you were running, and she didn’t, either. You didn’t know where you were or what was happening. All you knew was your heart felt like it would explode from your chest as your converse hit the ground with speed. Your hand was sweating in your friend, Ochako’s hand.
The howling got louder, and your ears picked up the sound of heavy footfalls. You heard Ochako gasp, faltering for moments as she tried to look back.
“Don’t…just run!” You screeched out desperately, trying to ignore the sound of closer growls and footfalls. You pulled her along, but you could feel your pace starting to slow. You’d never been a strong runner and that was fine - until your life depended on it. Perhaps it was the panic, but you absurdly found yourself regretting every chocolate bar you’d ever carelessly shoved in your face and the excuses you’d made to get out of lifting weights and doing cardio.
Too late now.
Your thoughts were abruptly cut off as you were aggressively tackled, feeling like a car slammed into you as you both screamed in fear. Your face was pressed into the ground as you squirmed under the weight pinning you down, desperately turning your head to the side and shrieking when you saw a large man with shining emerald eyes, fangs and fuzzy ears holding a terrified Ochako around her waist. Her legs were flailing as you stared at the muscled, shirtless man in horror. The fluffy, white ears on top of his head were twitching with every scared shriek from Ochako, his admittedly sculpted face pulling into a frown as his spare hand clasped around her mouth, your eyes widening at the claws that were his fingernails.
“LET HER GO, YOU BASTARD!” you screamed, struggling as you felt a vice-like grip on your wrists, ripping you up easily with terrifying strength.
You whipped around, kicking at the yellow haired man that had you in his grasp, seeing he was just as frightening as the other male. But his ears were brown. His fangs gleamed as he easily overpowered you, hoisting your body onto his shoulder and having the audacity to sigh when you squirmed like a fish.
“I’ve never seen humans in dress such as this.”
You barely heard the growling voice of the man below you, wriggling and trying desperately to pull your hands from his iron grip.
Humans? What…what the fuck were they? Nothing good, and you knew it. Every human instinct in your body was screaming in terror to get away - get away.
“We should bring them before our queen. They look different than other humans, perhaps she knows what they are.”
“They smell human,” the voice under you grumbled, making you freeze in terror before you began wriggling again. “Stop moving, stupid girl! You’re very annoying.”
You gasped, feeling indignant.
“LET US GO!” You screeched, squirming and looking frightened when you saw Ochako had given up, hoisted on the other man’s shoulder as her scared eyes stared at you, but she didn’t struggle.
She knew it was useless. But you couldn’t stop from wriggling as he began walking as though you weighed nothing, jostling you harshly every time you squirmed and whimpered in fear.
After a while, you began to lose your vigor. Your muscles protested weakly as you stared out at the woods over his back, your body going limp as you trembled, faintly hearing Ochako quietly cry on the males shoulder in front of you. You wanted to comfort her, tell her it would be okay…but you knew that wasn’t true. You were too scared to open your mouth, knowing the only thing that would escape would be a choked sob.
You saw the trees beginning to thin out, your heart thundering as you were carried into a cave lit by torches. It went on for what felt like hours, the only light was from the flickering orange of the flames. Almost absurdly, you felt exhaustion take over your body as you actually fell in and out of sleep. You wondered if Ochako had fallen asleep, as her sobs had quieted a while ago.
You were jolted out of your sleepy daze when you were suddenly flung to the hard ground, a shriek leaving you. Ochako was laid next to you by the green haired man, his face looking mildly concerned as she slowly shuffled away from him.
You looked up to the arrogant golden eyes looking down at you, your foot coming up and kicking him in the shin with all your might. To your surprise, he barely flinched as you stared at him hatefully, Ochako scooting to you and holding your arm.
A bark of laughter suddenly rang from the man as he looked down at you as though you were some kind of an adorable kitten. “You know, I somewhat like her - she’s fiesty.”
You grumbled and kicked out your leg again, but he dodged it, laughing deeply to himself. If he hadn’t just kidnapped you, you may have thought he was handsome.
“Denki, stop it.”
The strong, feminine voice had you and Ochako whipping around to stare behind you. There, on a wooden throne, sat a woman with ash blonde hair. She was beautiful with black ears and red eyes. Her white dress hugged her curvy frame as she looked down at you impassively.
Your (e/c) eyes snapped to the male standing next to her. He was muscular and shirtless like the other two males, but significantly more handsome. Your breath caught as he stood proud - his glowing, crimson eyes boring into you and making a shiver go up your spine as a scowl lingered on his handsome face. His black ears were up and alert, his chiseled face snarling and revealing gleaming white fangs that shined in the dim light. It made you shiver once more. He had unruly, ash blonde hair that matched the woman beside him. His thick arms and chest were heavily tattooed, and he was wearing black trousers and black, fur boots.
You heard the males behind you beginning to speak, but you couldn’t focus on it or take your eyes from his imposing figure. His expression, more specifically. He was staring at you and Ochako like you were trash - bugs that needed to be squashed immediately. Fear tickled your skin at the disgust in his expression, and you suddenly became thankful that the woman was there…or you’d both surely be dead.
“…I’ve never seen such clothing before.”
Your eyes finally snapped to the woman, who was speaking in an interested tone. You were thankful that she didn’t seem particularly wrathful or angry. The same couldn’t be said for the intimidating man next to her.
You briefly looked down at your black tee, jeans and converse. Your eyes flicked to Ochako, who was trembling in her blue dress as you finally realized how tightly she was holding your arm.
“Where are you from?” The blonde woman asked, her glowing eyes boring into you as Ochako whimpered next to you.
“Ummm…(hometown).” You stuttered out, seeing her brows raise in surprise and confusion.
You jumped when a deep growl suddenly sounded from the male next to her. He was glaring, his fangs bared and looking thoroughly pissed.
“She is lying, making up places. What do we care where they’re from? They’re human,” he spat, as though the term was some disgusting swear word. “This is pointless and I want to go back to sleep!”
“Shut your mouth!” The woman suddenly looked angry, raising her voice at him and making you and Ochako violently jump. “I can sense lies and they are not lying, boy.”
He frowned, baring his fangs and crossing his muscular arms across his chest. A displeased huff left him as he angrily looked away, his jaw ticking in restraint.
“W-we mean no harm. We’re just lost and want to go home!” You said immediately, seeing her brows rise again at the desperation in your voice, wrapping your arm around Ochako.
“We found this with them.”
Your eyes widened when the green haired male took forward the book that caused all the trouble in the first place.
It…it came with you? But you both ran, and you didn’t see it. You glanced at Ochako, seeing her look as surprised as you were. When you’d finished reading the words, your world blacked out and when you woke, you were laying on the ground with Ochako in the woods.
The woman immediately stood, grabbing the old book. She looked over the cover, opening it and flipping through the pages. She paused on the page you and Ochako had bookmarked, her eyes wide in shock as she slammed the book close, her eyes snapping up to you. You jumped, although she didn’t look angry…she looked amazed.
“Where…did you get this?” She asked quietly, her voice forcibly calm.
“I…picked it up in a used bookstore,” you muttered, more shock going over her features. “We were reading it and…ended up here. We don’t know what happened.”
Your eyes flitted to the male next to her, seeing him strongly approach and look at the book she was holding. His brows furrowed in confusion as it was clear he didn’t recognize it, and he angrily looked to her, waiting for answers.
“You’re…from another realm,” the woman whispered, the man's eyebrows shooting up in shock and his angry, vermilion eyes cut to you, making you look back at the woman in fear.
“I…what are you?” Ochako spoke up finally, her voice small as you tightened your arm around her to comfort her.
“Lies!” The male barked, looking royally pissed. “Trying to save their pathetic lives by pretending they don’t know what we are. Mother-“
“Shut up, Katsuki…” the woman said in a firm voice, looking at you with wonder. “They’re not lying. They’re telling the truth. This book was written by Lycaon, the first.”
Your brows furrowed in confusion as shock graced the absurdly handsome males face. Then, disbelief followed.
“It is filled with everything he had learned throughout his life…we thought this text was long lost to our people; even our ancestors could not find it. And now, two humans have brought it directly to us,” she whispered, awe in her voice. “No one is said to be able to wield the power in this book, not even us, his direct descendents.” She tilted her head, looking curious. “So, how is it that humans were able to shift their reality with it?” She flipped open to the page you and Ochako had bookmarked, raising her brow. “How did you do it?”
Your throat felt dry as you shook your head, seeing the woman stare at you intently. But there was no mistake, she was demanding answers.
“We just…read the words. We didn’t believe anything would happen!” You explained, waving your hand. “Magic isn’t real where we’re from.”
“…if I allow you to attempt again to get home, will you willingly leave this text?” She asked calmly as you and Ochako nodded immediately.
After this experience, you never wanted to see that fucking book again. You’d burn it if you had half the chance. By all means, they could fucking keep that cursed thing.
She smiled, her fangs gleaming. “Very well. I am queen Mitsuki and this is my son, prince Katsuki,” she gestured to the angry male next to her as you and Ochako nodded, but the male didn’t react and continued glaring at you both.
“I’m (y/n) and this is Ochako, my friend,” you said shakily, seeing her cock her head in interest as though your names were odd.
“Hmm, though I’m reluctant to let you leave…” she trailed off, making you tense. “this book…its power? Well, it has a will of its own. It wanted you, specifically, to find it.” You felt shock and doubt, but remained quiet as she continued. “Although I'm curious to know why, I’m thankful to have this relic with our pack and will not make you stay in a place that is not your home.”
“Thank you.” You blurted as she smiled, her canines showing as she opened the book to the page you had left it open at. Her tall figure approached, holding it near your face. It seemed she didn’t want to let go of it, in case you tried to take it with you. Well, she could rest assured that wouldn’t happen.
Once again, you looked at the strange scrawl and struggled to read the unknown words.
“De ah vey…uh…ex shirma ses boy…las?” You looked around, frowning as panic began to well inside you as you read it again.
The silence around you was uncomfortable as Ochako squeezed your arm tighter, and you tried once again. This time, Mitsuki sighed. “It’s as I thought…it will not let you leave.”
You felt the childish urge to slap the book to the ground, but gritted your teeth to stop your inner panic from spilling over. “But…why?” You groaned, unable to stop the worry welling within you. What…what the fuck were you and Ochako supposed to do here?
“I don’t know why the book thought two humans should reside along werewolves, but in time, it may change,” Mitsuki said casually, though, that explained the ears and fangs…it - they couldn't exist, right?
“You know of werewolves?” She asked, tilting her head and taking in your expression.
“I-werewolves don’t exist where we’re from. They’re considered purely myth. Only humans-“
“What a shithole that must be-“ a resounding pop cut the prince off as his mothers hand wacked him in the back of the head, cutting off his angry words.
“Don’t be rude, Katsuki!” She growled, raising her fist at him as he looked like he was about to be engulfed by rage.
“You can’t possibly allow them to stay here with us!” He growled, his venomous words of disgust making you flinch. “This shit has nothing to do with us!”
“This has everything to do with us! We’re direct descendants of Lycaon!” She seethed. “They we’re sent here; we just don’t know why yet. Once again, you’ve let your anger and hatred blind you from seeing everything clearly. Your anger rules you, Katsuki, control it.” She finished in a hiss.
“OTHERS WILL AGREE WITH ME!” He roared, his fists clenching at his sides and shaking from anger. You snuggled closer to Ochako, who was visibly shaking.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Mitsuki snapped sarcastically. “You’re not the only pig-headed, arrogant wolf in this pack! But you are the biggest one.”
The prince snarled at his mother, sending you a hateful look with a growl of warning that shook your heart before he stormed away from the main area in the cave, disappearing through one of the many openings inside the much larger room.
Mitsuki sighed, shaking her head. “I’m sorry. My son is fearless and powerful. He has a good heart - he cares for his pack…but he is also entitled, arrogant and rude beyond comprehension.” She scoffed, shaking her head. “He thinks he knows everything and will not listen. A fault, I’m hoping, that will disappear with age and experience.”
Mitsuki wasn’t about to convince you that that volatile wolf had a good heart, but you weren’t about to argue with your apparent host. You just nodded meekly, not wanting to be cast out into the dark woods. Logically, you knew this was bad and probably an unsafe place to be…but you doubted Ochako and you would be better off wandering the woods in the cold. You could easily die out there.
“Please rise,” she said softly, a sharp difference from her earlier harsh tone as you and Ochako got to your feet. “Izuku, please show them to a chamber and see that they have what they need.”
The handsome, green haired wolf inclined his head at her and looked over to you and Ochako. Your tense body relaxed slightly when you saw his eyes and face looked kind at least. Unlike the other male who had dragged you here and definitely more than the angry prince.
“Can I retire?”
You looked, seeing the yellow haired wolf suddenly next to you as you tried not to tense. He looked exhausted, his handsome face dropping weakly.
“Yes, Denki - and thank you for patrolling.” Mitsuki smiled.
He turned to you, making you jump in surprise when he winked, your face flushing before he strode away. He had been nasty and now, he was…flirty? Was it because he now saw you as no threat?
“Thank you…” you and Ochako said in unison, Mitsuki smiling and looking excited at what you were there for.
You and Ochako weren’t excited, though. When he left you both in a room with a bed made of furs, you and Ochako laid down and cried for what must have been hours. You were both scared, unsure of what would happen and homesick. At least you had each other, but you knew you’d rather be alone than put your best friend through this too. You had to force her to drink the water that had been on the table, fear clear in her eyes. You doubted they’d give you a room just to poison you both. That didn’t make any sense. It was clear they could easily kill you and fuck, maybe even eat you. You had to convince her by drinking it yourself and showing her nothing was wrong.
When Ochako finally cried herself to sleep, you wiped your eyes, rolling over in the furs and looking at the crackling fire. The red in the flames made you think of the prince's eyes, the one who clearly hated the both of you. It was obvious he hated humans, but you didn’t know why. You also didn’t know why it bothered you so much, but you concluded it was the fear. It was clear he wouldn’t attack when Mitsuki was around, but she was a queen. She couldn’t hover over you both every minute you were there - however long that would be.
You let out a shaky breath, your eyes finally fluttering as sleep claimed you, ruby eyes full of hatred stuck in your weary mind.
