There was all sorts of food bits in their bedsheets.
So much. There was cookie bits, there was bread bits, fruit seeds, chocolate, there was all kinds of things in there. It was getting... abit annoying. Because yes, she could change the bedsheets in a second, but then they had to wash them, and water wasn't limitless in outer space, you know? And they didn't have a limitless amount of spare sheets.
Makkari had to admit that maybe she had gone a bit too soft on Druig, specially after the beach incident. After thinking that he was gone for all that time, just him there, with his stupid smile... it was hard to be mad at him, specially when his face was like that (so pretty!! so squishable!!) and he had so many little nice gestures with her.
He sometimes cooked for her, dishes that he remembered she had enjoyed through all of time and all their different locations, sometimes he answered with passages that she loved, sometimes he just picked up on her insecurities or anxiety and let her vent. Or offered advice, whatever she needed.
He was a pretty good boyfriend, partner, soulmate, whatever the hell they were. (Actually Makkari didn't mind the "boyfriend" thing, because was a boy -he really was- and he was her friend, always been even when they were kissing, even as they shared a bed. He was her boyfriend, but he also was a lot more than that). Usually, he was great.
Makkari didn't mind his apparently awful singing in the shower (Thena said it was terrible. The vibrations weren't that bad, though?) and she didn't mind his sometimes a bit too brutal sense of humour. The Ikaris bashing, either, she was all in on that. Sometimes, she wanted to do a lot of things, move, read, find solutions, go go goooo and he just wanted to continue sleeping, which frustrated her.
Neither of them were perfect, but they tolerated and accepted each other's flaws. But the food thing, was not something to be tolerated. If they had to save the world again, if they needed to convince the other Eternals, maybe even fight the Celestials, they needed to be well rested, right?
She was eating a sandwich of cream cheese and thinking of all the bread crumbs that were in the bed, and how icky and unpleasant it was, when after a whole of trying to find answers, you went to bed and it was ful of... bits. This needed to be adressed.
He came in and started eating a banana, because of course he would. Did he ever stop eating?
Druig , she signed, come here . We need to talk.
And so she came, and sat in front of her, in a backwards chair because he thought himself cool. Which Makkari found quite endearing, but he didn't need to know that.
It's about the whole eating in bed thing. I get that you love eating, and I know that lately we've spent a lot of time on bed, but I would really appreciate if instead of just leaving all those crumbs around...
But Druig wasn't paying attention. He was looking at some point near her mouth with fascination and then... Apparently, there had been ome cream cheese left in her face, and he just... As if it was the most valuable treasure in the world, Druig took it with index finger, so soft, so low, like a long caress just so close to the mouth.
And then, again really fucking slow, licked his finger, getting to every little part of it, every molecule of cream cheese, while making eye contact with her, something about those pale blue eyes speaking to parts of her that had been dormant for thousands of years. Ughhh. And then he closed his eyes licked it again, an expression of pure pleasure in his face and Makkari... just.... what
Sorry, babe, you were saying something?
Makkari had been saying something. She'd been absolutely convinced of something that she was supposed to be saying to him, but now it was gone. Where they were, what they were supposed to be doing, hell she barely remembered her own name. There was only his finger in her face, the blue eyes watching her and telling her things not suitable for any audiences without a single word, and then, just closing his eyes, and his mouth... his tongue....
"Thena, you know what this was about?" Druig asked their warrior friend, while she read. "I think she was saying something important but I wasn't paying. And now... I don't know I made her glitch with sexiness."
That sounded so stupid, and yet... felt accurate. Thena deserved an award for having to share a house (ship? ship-house?) with these two.
"She's been complaining about you eating in bed, leaving all the crumbs. Maybe it was about that."
He went back to Makkari, who seemed to have returned to her senses a bit.
Is it that you wanted to talk to me about? the food on the bedsheets? Because I'm not gonna stop eating in bed, but if you want I can clean afterwards, if it bothers you. It's not a big deal.
Makkari couldn't believe that she'd been so angry about that just a few minutes ago. She was looking at the man she shared a bed with and thought that this was possibly the most perfectly intense, ravishingly smart and drop-dead gorgeous man she'd seen in her life, and decided that a bit of bread crumbs in bed was not too high a toll to pay.
Screw the bedsheets. We'll just take them off if we need to. And Druig, my love, it would be nice for you to clean up (I will! Anything to keep my dear Makkari as happy as she should be) but honestly... I want you to do anything you want in bed. ANYTHING.
And so they left, with the whole ting of cream cheese, and a mischievous smile.
Thena just looked with a little smile, thinking about how disgusting these two were. Even their fights ended up in sweetness and them being somehow even closer together.
Now, the tension from earlier in the day was gone.
And there was cream cheese in the bedsheets.
