"Aaron, wait. Aaron..." He can hear him shouting as he strides down the road. He hears him swear and as much as he wants to ignore him he can't when he hears a thud. When he turns round he finds him hopping on the spot trying to grab his foot
"What did you do?"
"The road...it moved."
"Of course it did." He bites back a smile. "Nothing to do with you bein' a lightweight and letting Cain buy you drinks all night then.” He walks back to him and puts Robert’s arm round his shoulder to hold him up.
"No...Aaron..."
"What?" Robert's heavy, leaning on him as he is, declaring that his legs weren't working and that Cain was trying to kill him.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" He refuses to look at him, part of him was annoyed, the other wanting to smile at his idiot of a husband. "For insulting your sister’s boyfriend or for telling everyone just how good I am in bed!"
"You are!"
"That's not the point. The point is I don't want my private business being gossip in the Woolie!"
"Think that ship sailed when you nabbed the hottest guy in the village."
"S'pose so. Finn was pretty fit I guess." He dodged out of the way as Robert tried to tickle him. "Pack it in. Thought you were injured?"
"You must have healing powers."
"More like you were havin' me on so you could get on my good side."
"You love me though."
"Lucky for you. Not sure you sister will be so forgiving."
"Wait...Vic!" All of a sudden he stands up straight letting up of Aaron and turning towards Keeper's Cottage.
"Robert, what are you doing?"
"Vic...need to apologise."
"It can wait until the morning." He catches up with him grabbing his arm as he goes to knock on Vic's door.
"But..."
"You wake her up now and she'll have your head. Come on, you can tell her tomorrow.”
"She won't hate me?" Aaron shakes his head, amazed that Robert can go from daft to pouting like a child in seconds.
"She might be a bit annoyed but she won't hate ya.”
"I was right though."
"Right or wrong. calling your sister's boyfriend a brainless moron is never a good idea. Now come on, I'm bloody freezing out here,"
"In love though?" He mumbles as he steers him towards Mill. “You love me Aaron, don’t you?”
"Course I do, soft lad.” He sighs. "If I didn't I woulda left you back there wouldn't I? Come on, home.”
“You’re so masterful.”
“Shut up.”
