Work Text:
Jack sighed with relief as closing time came around. Don't get him wrong, he didn't totally hate his job but serving coffee all day on the weekends wasn't exactly the seventeen-year-old's dream.
He headed over to the door to lock up only to find that there was still a customer curled up in the sagging armchair in the corner. He turned the sign to make clear that they were very much closed for the day before approaching.
The boy was about Jack's age and had his nose stuck in a book. Strands of white-blonde hair stuck out from beneath a black beanie and bright hazel eyes scanned the pages before them eagerly. He was a good looking guy, Jack decided. Shame he was probably straight.
"Sorry man but we're closing for the day."
The boy startled, glancing up at Jack and then around the room with obvious surprise. Jack couldn't help but smile, he must have been miles away.
"Uh, I know this is a really weird request but would it be cool if I stayed here whilst you like cleaned and stuff? I promise I'll stay out of the way, I just don't really want to go home yet." Jack frowned at that. He didn't want to kick the guy out if he was in trouble.
"Is everything okay? Should I be calling the cops or something?" His eyes widened in mild horror.
"No! No, nothing like that. I... it's really weird." Jack raised an eyebrow.
"Try me."
The other lad blushed as he bit his lip. "My family are putting up the Christmas lights today." Jack frowned.
"I'm not following."
"It's just... well my dad always goes crazy with it. Like he's always trying to outdo the people who live across the street and I'm pretty sure they've never even met but he, like, hates their guts' and is always trying to do bigger and better displays to outdo them. Our house always ends up looking horrendous. Like it's so bright you could see it from space and it's just embarrassing, to be honest."
Jack couldn't help but stare in disbelief. Not because it was crazy or weird, though admittedly it was, but because he knew exactly which house the boy was referring to.
"So you're number twenty-six on Thame Street." The boy flushed scarlet, actively avoiding Jack's gaze.
"Let me guess. You're one of the people who come and stare every year." There were always people coming to watch and laugh at the ridiculous display. "Actually, I live at twenty-seven. You know, the house your dad's competing with."
Their eyes met then and it was clear the other lad didn't know whether to laugh or apologise.
"For as long as I can remember." Jack began as he headed back towards the door. Locking it with the two of them inside. "My family have been the only house on the street to put up Christmas lights. When you guys moved in and your dad started putting up lights my dad took that as him muscling in on his turf and made a silent declaration of war." He took the seat opposite his bewildered neighbour. "Now every year he acts like a total nutbar trying to do bigger and better displays just to prove he's better. He actually paid my sister to watch your house through a telescope last year to see if she could see anything light related that would help him get an edge." He decided not to mention the fact she'd spent more time watching "the pretty boy who plays guitar" than she had anything else.
The blonde shook his head. "They really need to get lives."
"I was thinking something more along the lines of therapy but that works too." That made him laugh. A beautiful melodic sound.
"I'm Jack by the way."
"Alex."
They ended up talking about music whilst Jack cleaned tables and stacked chairs. Alex had excellent taste and he was incredibly easy to talk to. Jack couldn't help but find him more and more attractive by the second.
"I'm afraid we are actually going to have to leave now," Jack said as he finished all the nightly rituals for lock-up. Alex, who had moved from the chair to the counter where he was sat swinging his legs back and forth adorably, pouted. "Do we though?" Jack chuckled, grabbing his winter jacket. "Yep. I'm done for the day and I don't really want to spend any more time here than absolutely necessary." Alex sighed but hopped down and grabbed his own coat.
The walk home was pleasant, full of laughter and light-hearted conversation. Jack's cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so much.
He paused as they reached Alex's house. It was lit up like a homing beacon, flashing red, green and gold. Alex cringed and Jack sighed softly. He knew his own house would look just as unbearably bright soon enough.
"Well, it was nice to finally meet you." Jack offered, unsure of what else to say. Alex smiled warm and inviting.
"We should hang out again sometime." Jack nodded in agreement, watching as Alex trudged up the path towards his front porch before darting across the street to his own.
Jack was late for gym, again. It wasn't his fault, really. He just had no idea how he was supposed to make it from his English class to the gym in the short time they had between classes when they were on literal opposite ends of the school.
It didn't help that the floor was slippery and wet where people had trudged snow in from outside. The weather having taken a sudden dip into winter. Of course, no one had bothered to clean it up yet.
He felt his feet slip as he took the corner at speed and he ended up colliding straight into someone. "Oof." He landed straight on top of them, a tangle of limbs and papers flying everywhere.
"Shit, I am so sorry." Jack forced himself up into a seated position and immediately started gathering up papers. He could feel people's eyes on him but he ignored them.
"Jack?" He spun around, eyes widening in surprise.
"Alex?"
They stared at each other for a moment before the late bell rang out, snapping Jack back to reality. He quickly handed over the papers he'd gathered before getting to his feet, offering Alex a hand.
"Since when do you go to Dulaney?" Alex asked as he retrieved his stuff from Jack.
"Since always," Jack said, slightly confused.
"Then how come I've never seen you around before?" Jack couldn't help but shrug.
"I guess we don't have any classes together." Apparently, he hadn't considered that.
"What are you doing now?" Alex asked, voice hopeful.
"I am late for gym," Jack said but made no attempt to rectify the situation. Alex's face fell.
"Oh. Well, what are you up to after school?" Jack gave a shrug.
"Nothing planned." Alex's face immediately lit up.
"You wanna hang out?" Jack gave a small smile and nodded.
"Sure, sounds like fun."
The pair ended up grabbing coffee and hanging out at the skate park. It was completely empty due to the bad weather so they were able to sit at the top of one of the ramps undisturbed.
"So Ashley thinks this is fate." Jack frowned in confusion.
"What?"
"Us meeting, again earlier." Jack laughed and shook his head.
"Is she also by chance into horoscopes and crystals?" Alex snorted.
"No, she's not some new-age hippy type. She's just, like, obsessed with cliche romance novels and all that rom-com crap. Fate, soulmates, signs from the universe." He gave a shrug.
"So she's a hopeless romantic?" Alex smiled softly.
"Something like that."
"Well I don't know about fate but it was definitely serendipitous." Alex stared at him with obvious surprise. "What?"
"That's a big word." Jack rolled his eyes, shoving playfully at Alex's shoulder.
"I know big words." Alex just giggled.
They ended up spending most evening's together and Jack couldn't deny he really liked the other boy but he had no idea how Alex felt about him or about other guys in general. Jack wasn't sure how to bring it up.
"So my friend Rian is having a party on Saturday is you want to come?" Alex asked as they slowly walked back to their houses.
"Sounds good." Jack smiled, he hadn't been to a party in forever.
"Awesome! It'll be good to spend time together that doesn't involve freezing our assess off in the park." Jack couldn't help but chuckle.
"So I'll meet you out here at like eight," Alex said as they stopped outside his house. Both their houses were aglow, lighting up the whole street like the midday sun. "I can't wait." Jack smiled.
The pair just stood there a moment, smiling at each other. Jack had a strong desire to lean in and kiss him.
"Jack Bassam Barakat! What do you think you're doing?" They both jumped and Jack sighed softly, sending Alex a sympathetic look.
"I better go." Alex nodded, a small smile playing on his lips.
"See you tomorrow."
Jack headed across to his own house where his dad stood in the doorway with his arms folded and a furious look. The second the door was closed he exploded.
"What in gods name do you think you're doing?" He fumed. "You're fraternising with the enemy!" Jack stared at him in disbelief.
"What?" His dad's eyes just narrowed further.
"That boy is the son of that snake who's trying to take our claim of having the best lights." Jack stared at him in disbelief.
"Do you realise how deranged you sound right now?"
"You can't trust him!"
"Oh Bassam, leave him be. He's allowed to have friends." His mother sighed as she came out of the kitchen, arms folded across her chest.
"Joyce that boy-"
"Is just a boy." She cut him off. "He has nothing to do with his fathers choice to put up Christmas light or your irrational reaction to them. This is not a war, it is a form of festive decoration that anyone can take up at any time. Stop being ridiculous."
A heavy silence fell as his mother glared. "Jack go wash up, dinner's almost ready."
"Honestly, the way he'd reacted you'd think it was a mafia turf war."
Jack was sitting in the canteen with his friends Zack and Lisa and complaining about his father's crazy obsession.
"Here's an idea." Lisa laughed. "If you don't want your dad to act like a psycho then don't antagonise him." Jack rolled his eyes.
"I'm not gonna stop hanging out with someone just because my dad's got some crazy war going on with his dad."
"Who is this guy anyway?" Zack asked, eyebrow raised.
"Alex."
"As in Gaskarth?" Lisa asked catching Jack by surprise.
"Yeah. Do you know him?" Lisa gave a shrug.
"Not really, he's in my English class. White-blonde hair, hazel eyes, usually wearing a beanie?" Jack couldn't help but chuckle.
"Yeah, that's him."
"He's so hot." She sighed dreamily.
"He is." Jack agreed instantly catching Zack's attention.
"Aww, has someone got a little crush?" He teased. Jack rolled his eyes, fighting hard against a blush.
"Oh my god, he's blushing!" Lisa giggled. "He is so crushing on Alex."
"Shut up!" Jack hissed, not wanting the whole school to hear.
"Can we not make this into a big deal? I don't even know if he likes guys."
"Have you tried asking him?" Jack gave a small huff.
"It hasn't come up." They both just rolled their eyes.
"Just bring it up casually. Talk about a hot guy you saw or something and see how he reacts." Jack hadn't even considered that.
"Maybe I'll do it Saturday." It would be so much easier once they'd both had a couple of drinks... right?
"What's happening Saturday?"
"He invited me to his friend's party." They both looked stunned by that.
"Wow, check you out Mr Popular." Jack just rolled his eyes.
"Alright. Let's go over a plan so you don't fuck this up." Jack made a dismayed noise.
"I'm not gonna fuck it up!" He argued, genuinely offended by their lack of faith in him.
"You're definitely going to fuck it up." Zack agreed, causing him to huff.
"Fuck you both."
Jack couldn't help but feel nervous as he looked himself over in the mirror one last time. He was wearing black skinny jeans that had holes at the knees and a plain black V-neck. He'd completed the outfit with a thick leather jacket and ankle boots.
He'd actually managed to get his two-toned hair to do what he wanted for once and could only hope it survived the walk to the house.
With a final deep breath, he grabbed his phone and headed out before he could lose his nerve and bail.
"Where do you think you're going?" Jack paused in the living room doorway as his dad raised his eyebrows at him over his paper.
"A party."
"And why is this the first time I'm hearing about it?"
"Because you're always too busy plotting against the neighbours to listen to anything I have to say." The look he sent him was less than impressed.
"Mom said it was fine." He added. He was supposed to be meeting Alex now and he did not have time to deal with his dad's egotistical need to be in charge of everything. "Did she now?"
"Jack? What are you still doing here, I thought you were meant to be meeting your friend?" His mother asked as she reached the bottom of the stairs. "Joyce. What is this about you saying he could go to a party without talking to me?" Joyce rolled her eyes.
"I tried talking to you about it but you were too busy spying on the neighbours to concern yourself."
Jack took that as his cue to leave, knowing full well that this would only develop into his dad throwing a tantrum like a child. He really did not have time for that.
When he got outside Alex was already waiting for him. Grey ripped skinny jeans, boots and a leather jacket. His hair swept forward into his bangs which fell neatly by his eye. He looked stunning.
"Ready to go?" He called excitedly as Jack approached. He nodded wordlessly, unable to draw his eyes away from the beautiful boy. He wasn't sure he trusted himself to keep his hands to himself once he had a few drinks in his system. I'm in trouble.
The walk wasn't long and the music could be heard from the street. Jack was pleasantly surprised to find it was Green Day.
The house was packed full of people he didn't know but vaguely recognised from school. He was going to need a drink if he wanted to get comfortable with all these strangers.
"Alex!" His whole face lit up as a brunet boy pulled him into a hug. Jack had to fight hard against the pang of jealousy that sat heavy in his chest.
"Rian, this is Jack. Jack this is Rian." He introduced as he stepped back from the embrace.
"It's nice to finally meet you dude," Rian enthused as he offered Jack a hand. "Alex never shuts up about you." Jack didn't really know what to say to that but he made a mental note of the deep blush that stained Alex's cheeks. He'd overanalyze that later.
A few hours later Jack found himself stumbling down into the basement where a beer pong table had been set up.
He didn't remember when or where exactly he'd lost Alex but he had absolutely no idea where he was now. He had to find him, he still had to enact Zack and Lisa's plan.
He stopped rather abruptly when he found Alex. He was standing under a rather large branch of mistletoe tonguing a brunet guy that Jack didn't recognise. Well, that certainly answered a lot of Jack's questions. It was probably a good thing he was drunk, this was going to suck a hell of a lot more come the morning once he'd sobered up.
He ended up back in the kitchen, leaning against the counter talking to a guy he thought was called Matt but he wasn't one hundred per cent sure. He laughed a lot and told lame jokes so Jack was pretty content to distract himself with his company.
"I'm gonna go dance. You wanna come?" Maybe Matt asked as he pushed away from the counter. Jack shook his head. Jack did not dance. His companion shrugged before heading in the direction of the living room where everyone was busy grinding on each other.
"There you are."
Jack startled as Alex appeared out of nowhere, leaning beside him. Their shoulders brushed making Jack shudder.
Alex had taken off his jacket and was now in a red and black flannel shirt. He looked so damn hot. His eyes were bright with alcohol as he smirked at Jack, enjoying the fact Jack was checking him out.
"What happened to the other guy?" Jack blurted, unable to stop himself. Alex frowned with confusion.
"What guy?"
"The guy you were swapping spit with in the basement." Alex giggled.
"Oh, you mean Mr Mistletoe."
Jack just sent him a confused look. "I don't know what his name was," Alex admitted with a shrug. "I just got caught with him under the mistletoe so I had no choice but to kiss him." Jack couldn't help but laugh at that.
"It looked like it was pretty good." Alex just gave a shrug, leaning in a little closer.
"I've had better."
Jack was painfully aware of Alex's proximity. He could feel the heat of his body and his breath was teasing his neck. He was really close.
"I didn't realise you were watching." He said, his tone tinged with something Jack couldn't quite identify.
"I wouldn't really say I was watching," Jack mumbled, his cheeks heating up.
"I just saw." It definitely wasn't the same thing.
"You jealous Jacky?" He practically purred causing a shudder to run down Jack's spine. "You want me to kiss you under the mistletoe too?" Jack swallowed, turning to face him with surprise, their faces barely a couple of inches away from each other now. He didn't have it in him to respond.
"I want to kiss you." Jack startled a little.
"There's no mistletoe." He somehow managed to say. Alex just smirked as his eyes darted from Jack's eyes to his lips.
"I won't tell if you won't."
Jack wasn't sure which of them closed the gap but the next thing he knew their lips were pressed firmly together. Alex's were soft and warm as they moved against Jack's. His breath caught in his throat at the feeling.
His hand made its way to the small of Alex's back as he opened up, allowing Jack to push his tongue into his mouth. He tasted sweet from whatever he'd been drinking. Jack liked it.
Alex's hands gripped tightly at the back of Jack's neck and the kiss started to grow heated. Jack couldn't help himself. He wanted, no needed, more. He liked Alex and he hadn't expected to get the chance to kiss Alex and now that he was he couldn't control the desire flooding through him.
He pushed him back against the counter as he pressed himself closer and Alex moaned in approval, tightening his grip on the taller lad. They continued to kiss fervent and eager and Jack knew that Alex had to be able to feel his cock twitching with interest but he couldn't bring himself to care. Kissing Alex was like walking on air, dancing in starlight. He felt on top of the world, like together they were invincible and glowed brighter than all the stupid lights on both their houses combined.
"Maybe we should take this somewhere more comfortable," Alex mumbled breathlessly as he pulled back from Jack's lips. Jack nodded, unable to find words.
Alex took hold of his hand and pulled him up the stairs, seeming to know where he was going.
They found an empty bedroom and then Jack was being pushed down onto the bed, Alex pressed flat against him as their lips moulded together once more.
Jack's hands were quick to start exploring, slowly trailing over his clothed skin. Mapping out every inch of him as they kissed like their lives depended on it. The hand Alex wasn't using for support had slipped up Jack's shirt and was trailing fire over his skin. It had him shuddering repeatedly and releasing soft whimpers into the kiss.
He began to slowly press open-mouthed kisses down Jack's neck as his hand moved downwards, palming at Jack's cock through his jeans. "I really want to suck your dick." He groaned, pulling back to meet Jack's gaze. Jack didn't think the words existed for just how badly he wanted that.
Alex kissed down his body, over his t-shirt, until he reached his waistband. Jack hummed softly in approval, doing his best not to squirm. Alex paused a moment, glancing up at Jack through his eyelashes Jack gave a nod, swallowing thickly.
Alex had his jeans and boxers down by his knees in seconds and was eyeing his cock hungrily. He ran his tongue up the underside, slow and teasing. Jack released a sharp gasp as he shuddered from head to toe. This was already so much better than anything else he'd experienced.
Alex reached his head, lapping at his slit and smirking as Jack whimpered.
Jack choked out a moan as Alex took him into his mouth, sucking hard. He already had Jack's toes curling and he'd only just gotten started.
He took him to the base, swallowing around him before pulling back to the tip and repeating. He didn't even blink, taking it like it was nothing. Clearly, he was a pro at this and Jack was too drunk and overstimulated to overthink that.
Alex hollowed his cheeks, sucking harder as he continued to bob up and down Jack's length.
Jack moaned from deep in his chest, his hand coming down to grip tight in Alex's hair. He hummed in approval, and Jack felt the vibrations all over. "Fuck." He groaned. He could tell from the sparkle in his eyes that had his mouth not been full Alex would have been smirking.
Jack continued to moan softly as Alex continued to work his magic, his tongue teasingly trailing over the sensitive appendage as he swallowed him down over and over.
Pleasure was pulsing in every cell of Jack's body and his brain was hazy. He couldn't focus on anything but how good he felt. Alex's oh so perfect mouth tight around him was driving him wild. It was stoking the fire that burned bright in his stomach and he knew he wasn't going to last much longer.
His orgasm tore through him like a hurricane as his back arched off the bed whilst his muscles tensed. Alex swallowed his release easily enough, working him through his orgasm as he sucked him dry of every available drop. Satisfied, he pulled off, smirking up at Jack as he struggled to breathe.
Once he'd gained some semblance of control Alex was reconnecting their lips and kissing him fiercely.
Jack's hand made its way into Alex's hair as he kissed back eagerly. He could taste himself on Alex and whilst it wasn't particularly pleasant it was kinda hot. He could also feel Alex's erection pressing against his hip and that was so very sexy.
"God I've wanted to do that since I first saw you behind that damn counter at the coffee shop," Alex whispered against his lips. Jack could only groan in approval, grateful he wasn't the only one who'd felt the instant attraction.
Wordlessly he reconnected their lips, desperate for more of the intoxicating contact.
A few moments later and he pulled back again, fully prepared to ask Alex how he wanted him to return the favour. It was the least he could do really given that Alex had just given him one of the best orgasms of his life.
The door suddenly flew inwards, banging against the wall and making them both jump.
"Oh hell no."
Alex pulled himself away from Jack enough to glare at the room's new occupant. It took Jack a moment to realise it was Rian.
"Do you mind?" Alex said with a huff.
"No. Get out of my bedroom."
Alex made a noise of frustration as he sent the other boy a beseeching look. "Twenty minutes?"
"No."
"But Rian-"
"Now Alex."
He closed the door to give them a moment to make themselves presentable.
Alex gave a heavy sigh as he rolled off of Jack so he could put himself away. "Dick." He muttered softly, glaring at the door.
"Sorry." Jack offered, unsure of what else to say. Alex just gave a shrug.
"It's not your fault." He sighed. "I just really wanted to sit on your face." Jack started a little at the bluntness.
"Yeah?" Alex nodded, not registering his surprise.
"Yeah... though most people aren't willing to give a rim job so I totally would have gone for fingering instead if that wasn't your thing."
Jack had never eaten anyone's ass before to know if it was his thing, but given the wistful look on Alex's face at the thought, he was pretty sure that, for him, he'd be willing to try.
"Next time," Jack promised and Alex's whole face lit up.
"Yeah?" Jack nodded.
"Sure."
Alex grabbed at the back of his neck and pulled him into another dirty kiss, and as Jack's hands slid down Alex's body to his hip and they pressed closer together once more he couldn't help but wonder if next time was going to happen much sooner than they'd expected.
The door came flying in once more and Rian made a frustrated noise. "Alright, out you go." He insisted and Alex grudgingly pulled away from Jack to glare at him. "Cock block." He huffed as they got to their feet.
"Pretty sure you've had more sex in here than I have so quit complaining." Jack couldn't help but laugh at their bickering.
Jack woke up with a soft groan. He was in a living room he didn't recognise with predawn light spilling in through the open curtains.
He glanced down and was surprised to find Alex curled around him on the couch. He was wedged in beside him with his head on his chest and an arm and a leg flung over him. It was adorable and made Jack's heart flutter.
He glanced over to the clock on the mantlepiece and groaned when he saw it was nearly six am. He was supposed to be home at two. His parents were going to kill him.
"Alex." He hissed, carefully shaking the older boy. He needed to know where he was so he could figure out how the hell he was meant to get home.
Alex released a soft groan, opening his bleary eyes and squinting at Jack with a thoroughly unimpressed look. "What?" Jack suspected he'd sound more annoyed if the word hadn't come out as a yawn. "Where am I? I was supposed to be home hours ago." Alex blushed as he sat up.
"We're at mine. My parents are away." At least he didn't have far to travel.
Alex walked him across the street and they paused awkwardly at the start of the path up to the porch.
Jack knew he shouldn't linger, should just get in and pray his parents were asleep so he could pretend he'd been there on time, or at least not as late as he currently was. He just couldn't bring himself to move. There was so much still unsaid between them.
"I... I'm sorry" Alex said, glancing down at his feet. "I've made things weird haven't I?" Not what Jack had been expecting.
"I'm so sorry. I'm just... I'm kind of a slut when I'm drunk and I shouldn't have said or done any of it."
"I'm glad you did." Alex startled, meeting his eyes with a surprised expression.
Carefully Jack reached across and took his hands. "At the risk of making things weirder. I really like you, Alex. I was hoping to talk with you about it last night but then I saw you with that other guy and I figured you weren't interested but then everything happened and I just... I just needed you to know." Alex was smiling softly, the flashing Christmas lights making his eyes sparkle.
"I like you too Jack." He whispered, gently cupping Jack's cheek. Jack could keep the grin off his face as his heart skipped a beat.
They both slowly leant in and their lips met. This time it was sweet and passionate. It lacked the desire from before but it was just as intense, just as all-encompassing. Jack sighed happily into it.
Alex slowly pulled away, like it was a struggle to force himself to do so. "I'll text you if I survive the lecture." Alex grinned, shaking his head softly. "You better. You still owe me for last night." Jack barked out a surprised laugh.
"Well, we can't be having that."
