Summary:

Pairing-Misaki Okusawa x Kokoro Tsurumaki (BanG! Dream! Girls Band Party!)

Notes:

Welcome to my winter challenge, 12 Days of Holiday Shipping! I'll post 12 works over the course of December relating to Christmas/Winter themed romance! Wanna try yourself? Click here to check out the prompts I made! Holiday Blessings everyone!

P.S. These are separate works because I'm doing cross fandoms, and I'm pretty sure I'll reach the tag limit before I'm done.

...I keep forgetting to change the damn dates I draft this on. Woe is me.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Misaki Okusawa was having a nice, relaxing sleep in bed until she was promptly interrupted by the excited shrills of her siblings. Begrudgingly, she forced herself out of bed, donned some house slippers, and went to go see her siblings. More specifically, what they were screaming about.

“Onee-chan! Onee-chan! Look look look!” they cried, bouncing around the living room unable to contain their excitement. Misaki sighed, already looking to see what pile of presents their mom left for them before heading to work.

But what the kids were staring at wasn’t the small fake Christmas tree in the corner, no, they were staring outside the window for some reason. Curious at what a plain snowy front lawn had, Misaki peered outside the window in curiosity. And immediately cursed out Kokoro Tsurumaki’s name.

Flashback to a week ago...

"Hey hey Misaki! Do you know what you want for Christmas?" Kokoro asked, a light in her eyes that never seemed to diminish no matter what happened in life. Misaki, only recently got out of the Michelle costume, was a bit startled by the question. If she had to be honest, she never thought of what she wanted in a long time. Most of her thoughts of it were just what her siblings wanted for Christmas, not her. She gave a shrug in response.

"I dunno, haven't thought of it in a while. I just focused on what my little siblings want, and that's it, really."

"Woooow! You're making people smile even off the Smile Patrol! You're so cool, Misaki!" Kokoro beamed, the vocalist's energy almost too bright for the DJ to handle. She blushed. It wasn't that long ago that she wasn't praised for much, so getting used to being complimented on such trivial things took her a while to process.

"I-uhm-ag-hm-thanks?" she stammered out, blissfully thankful that the vocalist was a genuine idiot when it came to social cues.

Kokoro, ignoring said cue to tease her girlfriend, asked, "What do ya get for your siblings?"

"Oh, uhm, nothing much. Just a new felt doll for my sister, and some B-grade art supplies for my brother. We don't have that much money, so we just make do with what we have."

"Would they smile more if they got more stuff they wanted?"

"Oh yeah! Whenever mom got a raise and could buy more stuff for my siblings, they always lit up with joy. Mom's careful not to spoil them though. She said they'll turn into brats if she keeps overindulging them."

Kokoro gave a look of confusion. Misaki sighed and dumbed down what she said.

"Basically, lots of stuff every once in a while makes them smile, lots of stuff everyday wouldn't make them smile."

The vocalist perked up like she solved a jigsaw puzzle. "I got it! Thanks Misaki! Oh and ask Michelle what she wants for Christmas too!"

Misaki sighed. She still didn't have the heart to tell the yellow-haired girl that she and Michelle were one and the same. Not that she would listen anyway...

She packed up her things, said goodbye to the rest of Hello, Happy World!, and left.

End Flashback
...In hindsight, given Kanon and Hagumi's birthdays, she should've seen this coming. She really should've. But noooooooooo, she just had to trust that Kokoro wouldn't go overboard this ONE time. A time where gift giving is expected! Sure enough, patiently waiting outside their lawn in front of the ridiculous amount of presents stood her girlfriend, barely keeping still on account of the suits.

Not wanting to lose any more brain cells thinking of how on earth did she drop all these presents in front of their house reasonably, (who is she kidding, the Tsurumaki's make anything happen apparently), Misaki took her ecstatic siblings to go see what "Onee-chan's super cool awesome" girlfriend had for them. While they were fawning about art supplies and dolls that definitely came from professionals and probably costed more than a million yen, Misaki, still not changed out of her sleepwear, went to meet her bouncy girlfriend.

"Misaki-chan! Misaki-chan!" Kokoro cheered, somehow still as bright as ever despite it being freezing outside. Then again, pajamas aren't necessarily built for the cold... "Do you like the presents I got for your family?"

The former was about to decline, before she noticed the suits hovering over the Tsurumaki heir with oddly serious vibe. Misaki retracted what she was about to say, in fear that she wouldn't see the light of day tomorrow if she made her girlfriend upset. "They're...great. My s-siblings love them!" she managed to stammer out, desperately trying hard to pretend to not notice the aura emanating from the suits getting bigger. Kokoro, blissfully, did not question why her "Mii-chan" was so nervous and gave a cheery laugh in return.

Misaki laughed as much as she could as well. Days are always interesting with Kokoro Tsurumaki by her side, and right now? She wouldn't change anything for the world.

...Except maybe getting into some actual winter clothes because she's pretty sure her neck and legs are frozen solid.

Notes:

Later, when Misaki's mom came back home, she was absolutely surprised at the high quality gifts her children got that were definitely not from her. (Misaki got some S-grade felting fabric) She kept demanding they returned the gifts for fear that they were now in debt until the company she worked at called and heard she got promoted to a ridiculously high position.

She never complained for the rest of that night.

(The other members also got ridiculous amounts of presents, in case you were curious, much to the dismay of Hagumi's dad.)
