Work Text:
Seokjin was lying against his headboard, mindlessly scrolling through his phone. Blue light illuminating his features in the complete darkness. He heard distant yelling coming from outside and looked at the time—1:00 am.
Sheesh, these kids. It sounded like Jimin and Hobi. He knew Jungkook would usually be joining in their late night shenanigans but he was taking his duties as Bam’s dad very seriously. Having to get up early to take Bam out, curtailing his usual antics.
He smiled, he was happy they were enjoying themselves. It was still work and they were being filmed for most of their time here out in the woods but It still felt like a break of sorts. It was nice to spend time together and not be practicing, training, or filming for something. It reminded him a little bit of their early years.
They had also decided that this time around that they should just do what they wanted and not worry about doing everything as a group. It was nice and Seokjin had made himself at home in front of the TV playing games from his youth.
He was feeling quite content but there was one thing that was hard about this trip even if it was only for 4 days.
A light knock at the door didn’t surprise him. He had been making puppy eyes at him all day and Seokjin had seen the frustration written on his face when Seokjin had ignored him.
Taehyung slipped through the door, “Hyung.” He whined.
Seokjin shook his head, “Cameras.”
Taehyung glared at the camera before walking over and grabbing one of Seokjin’s shirts and putting it over the lens.
“They can still hear us,” Seokjin added but he was already pulling back the covers.
Taehyung stopped and with quick angry motions he disconnected the camera and opened the door and placed it outside the room.
Seokjin couldn’t stop a giggle coming out at his boyfriend’s antics. Taehyung closed the door and stalked over to the bed. He flopped down, landing half on top of Seokjin, causing Seokjin to huff out in indignation.
“You’re too heavy Voo,” Seokjin complained as Taehyung arranged them so that his head was pushed into Seokjin’s neck and their limbs entwined.
“You ignored me,” Taehyung huffed into his neck.
“Taehyung-ah,” Seokjin ran his fingers through Taehyung’s freshly washed hair. “You know that we can’t be like we are at home here.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to ignore me,” Taehyung complained. “We haven’t even cuddled in two days. Everyone is going to think you hate me.”
“Because I didn’t cuddle you?” Seokjin asked. “I haven’t been cuddling any of the others either. I don’t think anyone thinks I hate them.”
“But I’m not the others,” Taehyung whined, pushing his face against his shoulder. “And we haven’t seen each other all day except when you ignored me.”
Seokjin cuddled Taehyung closer, “It’s because you’re not the others that I keep my distance while we’re on camera.” Seokjin whispered into hair. He quickly kissed his head, smelling the sweet scent of Taehyung’s shampoo.
Taehyung didn’t speak right away. He turned in Seokjin’s arms so that they were both laying on their backs. Seokjin laid down just enjoying the weight of the man—no longer the skinny boy he had met so long ago—in his arms. He stroked Taehyung’s arms as they laid there.
Taehyung finally spoke, “I want to stay the night. I miss you.”
“Voo,” Seokjin sighed out.
“I know I can’t but I want to,” Taehyung snuggled closer. “I like it here but I just wish.”
“I’ll make it up to you when we get home,” Seokjin wrapped his arms tighter around him and tipped his head so he could kiss his cheek. “I missed you too.”
They laid in companionable silence for a minute, years of being together erasing any awkwardness. Without speaking, Seokjin whipped out his phone again and maneuvered his arm around so that Taehyung’s head was laying on his shoulder. It was a familiar position and echoed their many movie nights spent together.
“What do you feel like watching Voo?” Seokjin whispered in the dark, loud shrieks from outside punctuating the silence.
Taehyung smiled when he heard laughter, “Everyone seems to be enjoying it out here. I’m happy. It’s been nice. I want this when we’re older.”
“We’ll have this when we’re older,” Seokjin kissed his head. “When none of us can stand up straight and our knees creak when we move.”
“So you already,” Taehyung teased.
Seokjin let out a squawk of protest and tickled Taehyung’s ribs in retaliation, “Brat. Well if I’m an old man then you’re dating an old man.”
Taehyung squirmed away from his hand, “Maybe I like old men. Why else would I be with you?”
Seokjin’s eyes narrowed and he quickly flipped them so that Taehyung was underneath him trapped by his knees. He resumed his tickle attack on both of Taehyung’s sides. Taehyung giggled as he half-heartedly tried to block Seokjin’s hands.
Taehyung grasped Seokjin’s hands, “I yield, I yield.” He looked up into his boyfriend’s smiling face.
“Admit that I’m not old,” Seokjin demanded.
Taehyung pulled on Seokjin’s wrists until they we’re chest to chest, “In my eyes you’re ageless.”
Seokjin didn’t answer but Taehyung could tell he was pleased by the blush on his cheeks. Taehyung continued, “Plus, you’re worldwide handsome you know.”
Seokjin started to tickle him again and they played around for another five minutes before settling back into the position they had started in. Taehyung’s head was settled into Seokjin’s shoulder. They decided on a drama that they had watched before. They both kept stopping the drama to act out their favorite scenes.
It was 5 am by the time Taehyung left Seokjin’s bed. Both of them we’re sleepy and barely keeping their eyes open. Taehyung was grumpy about having to leave but Seokjin kept grumbling about needing his beauty sleep.
Taehyung tried to charm him into letting him stay longer, “But you’re already beautiful, hyung.”
“Voo, they’re going to want to start filming soon and someone is going to come look for that camera that’s not working,” Seokjin kissed Taehyung’s pout. “We’ll get to sleep together when we get back. Now go to bed so I can finally get some sleep.”
“Fine,” Taehyung got up slowly and looked sadly at where his boyfriend was cuddled up in his blanket, his RJ pillow smirking at Taehyung.
“And stop making sad puppy eyes,” Seokjin said, not once opening his eyes.
Taehyung glared at him and started to leave when Seokjin softly called out, “I love you, Voo.”
Taehyung stopped, his heart fluttering even after all this time, “I love you, too.”
He stepped out of the room, found the camera and brought it back in. After fixing it he went over and kissed Seokjin’s forehead. His boyfriend sleepily huffed at him and mumbled intelligibly. He looked at him one last time, it always amazed him how beautiful Seokjin was and in slumber he looked like a prince. He kissed him one last time on the lips, thoughts of fairy tale princes filling his head.
Taehyung walked out into the early dawn light, making his way to his room. Taehyung stumbled into his bed, hugging his pillow wishing it was a certain person instead. He fell asleep thinking of a future when they came back here all together in twenty years. In his mind he saw them with their future families and he smiled when he imagined him and Seokjin holding hands, matching bands glinting on their fingers.
