Here’s the thing: The von Karma family is haunted by the spectre of perfection, and it took her father, her wretched, saint-like father, sent to the gallows spitting her brother’s name, but she is his own blood, flesh of his flesh and so on and so forth, marching imperiously forwards into the dawn. Her father is set to be executed in a state prison sometime soon, and her brother is dead and gone, and now only Franziska is left. So it is, so it goes.
