Summary
After recently being promoted to Captain, the Survey Corps members have a hard time trusting someone who joined the ranks in such an unconventional manner. In an attempt to prove his dependability, Levi treats his subordinates to a sweet afternoon break. Feeling curious about his reaction, Levi later conducts this experiment on Erwin.
The sugar dissolves on his tongue and the boiled fruit makes his mouth water. The smell doesn’t compare to the treat’s actual sweetness. It reminds him of his childhood; his mother sending him to the market for bundles of sugar that promised to be turned into cake for his birthday or pie for the changing season. After his father died, the occasion grew in rarity. He wonders when the last time his mother baked was. Now that he’s Commander, he thinks he should take the time to send her something luxurious like this.
