The desperate patience

Summary:

Jeno Lee, who is confident that he's one of the smartest cops in his department, finds himself in a difficult and exciting situation when one of his nemesis, Na Jaemin, is his prime suspect again.

Notes:

Helllooo!!! NOMIN again :))))) Honestly, if Jaemin says he would love to do dark characters, I would love to write him like the way he would like.
Disclaimer: Most of this isn't mine, this is completely inspired by Brooklyn 99's episode "The box" (S5E14)
Happy reading :D

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jaemin eyed the police precinct and smiled. The walls of this place knew that this visit wasn't his first one. Ah, how much he missed this place and these stupid people. Wonderful day, indeed.

He walked towards the table nearby and tried to talk to the boy working there. He sighed in impatience after a minute or two hearing him speak on his phone about how he was defeated in the battlegrounds. Putting aside the frustration building inside him due to impatience, he wanted to laugh at the boy's childishness.

But, maybe -- just maybe, he might be enjoying the stupidity of this boy a little bit more than Jeno Lee. Ugh, Jeno Lee, that chad, a self-proclaimed Sherlock Holmes who isn't any less than an imbecile in Jaemin's opinion.

“Yeah?” The boy finally looked towards him, putting his phone down.

“I'm Na Jaemin, detective Lee Jeno asked me to drop by?”

His lips formed an 'O'. “Right. The dentist who murdered someone,” he said. “Spoiler alert: they think you did it.”

Yes, finally someone who's definitely better than Jeno Lee.

He looked at him for another second when the boy responded with a gummy smile until a uniformed officer approached him. “Take him to the interrogation room C, please,” he said and looked back at him. “Have fun in there.”

Oh, he definitely would. Punch Lee Jeno's confidence level down to his legs and defeat him emotionally. He definitely would enjoy doing this. Again. And again in the future.

“Thank you,” he said.

6:30 PM

Jeno's lips formed a huge smile watching the person he hated the most struggling in the interrogation room because of the "special arrangements" he had made for him. He is going to end it all today. He was going to break this man into pieces today.

“What are you smiling at?”

Jeno looked back at his Captain, Lee Taeyong and smiled wider. “Just looking at how uncomfortable I made him. Jacked up the thermostat, made one of the chair's legs too short and worst of all, I made Jisung greet him.”

“What did you make him say?” Taeyong asked.

“Just be himself.”

“Poor son of a bitch.”

Jeno sheepishly smiled, “Yeah.” he said and looked back at Taeyong. “Why are you dressed like you're going out for a date or something?”

Taeyong shrugged. “Maybe I am. So, who's this guy?”

“This is Na Jaemin.”

Taeyong raised his eyebrows at him. “The same one?”

Jeno nodded. “Yes, the same one. My prime suspect since the past 16 months-” he abruptly ended the sentence.

The same one who is a serial killer, he wanted to add. But the way he ended his sentence alerted Taeyong and he looked back at him.

“Those cases are closed. Suicides, aren't they?”

Four famous medical professionals were murdered in the same way. Body found rotting in the basement, high on drugs, perfectly framed suicide.

Suicide. He scoffed internally. “That's exactly what he wants you to think, Captain.”

And four of them have a common enemy: Na Jaemin. Too much to assume it to be a coincidence.

“So, what do we have on him now?”

“Clear motive and means, non-existent alibi but the DA won't bring a charge. Says it's highly circumstantial. We have to make him confess. Right here, right now.”

Taeyong smirked. “An interrogation with a ticking clock? I'm cancelling my plans for today.”

Minutes later, the room was still silent. Jeno looked at Jaemin periodically while Taeyong was going through the case files.

“You're right he did it.”

“All of them?”

“Let's stick to just this one, for now, Jeno.”

Jeno exhaled sharply and nodded.

“However, we have no murder weapon, no witnesses, and you didn't find any forensic evidence?”

Jeno shook his head. “The body was found near his farm, rained on for weeks and was being eaten by vultures.”

“Who found the body?”

“The caretaker of his farmhouse,” he said. “Are you going to ignore the body being eaten by vultures?”

“They are scavengers. Nothing I haven't seen before.”

Jeno raised his eyebrows. “It isn't?!”

“Let's start working on this guy.”

“Oh you're coming with me? I thought you were gonna watch me, call me when things get heated, you know -- classic captain stuff,” he smiled.

“You know what I miss about being a detective?” Taeyong asked to which Jeno shook his head. “A good interrogation. Talking too fast and then too slow, breaking down suspects brick by brick.”

Jeno's eyes sparkled with excitement.

“Looking right into their eyes and intimidating,” he added, looking right into his eyes.

Jeno smiled wider. “Woah- that's perfect!”

“So can I join you?”

“I mean, a lot of these things work well with two. You know, good cop/bad cop, crazy cop/sane cop, you know what? Let's do this! Let's break this fucker down.”

Jeno and Taeyong entered the interrogation cell. Jeno's frustration was already building up with a grin plastered on Jaemin's face.

“Hello, Jaemin,” he greeted him, while letting the door close behind him loudly.

“Detective. We met again.”

Jeno wanted to punch that grin from his face. “I promise this is the last time, Jaemin.”

Jaemin shrugged. “Maybe or maybe not.” His eyes shifted to Taeyong before Jeno introduced him.

“That's Captain Lee Taeyong. A legend when it comes to interrogation circles. I've seen more than 50 suspects breaking down because of him.”

Jaemin grinned wider. “So you finally decided to bring someone who's better than you?”

The nerve!

Jeno found his face burning with anger. Jaemin was lucky that Taeyong was around. Ignoring that comment, he sat in front of him while Taeyong stood leaning onto the wall. “Let's talk about the night of Thursday the 27th and the night Kevin white was murdered.”

Jaemin nodded.

“I suppose you're the last person to see him alive, right?”

Jaemin closed his eyes and shook his head. “I believe the last person that saw him alive was the one who killed him.”

“Oh nice dodge. You're quick, like a cat.”

“Like a dancer,” Taeyong said.

“Like the flash,” Jeno paused. “Wally west? Considered fastest?”

“Wally can keep the faster speeds for long. And that doesn't mean he's way too fast than Barry Allen.” Jaemin replied, calmly.

“Wait really?” Jeno asked, surprised. “I mean, duh. Everybody knows that,” he quickly retorted.

But before Jaemin could go on, Taeyong interrupted. “Tell us about Thursday.”

“I had surgery late that afternoon. Simple gingival grafting. It wrapped around 7:00 and then Kevin and I talked after.”

“And who else was in the office?” Taeyong asked.

“Our hygienist and anesthesiologist had gone home, and Jin,

who usually locks up, had left early because he had to visit his parents.”

“So it was you and Kevin?” Taeyong asked to which Jaemin nodded.

“No witnesses? That's lucky,” Jeno said.

“There is nothing to feel lucky about because there's nothing to witness. Kevin and I were talking about firing one of our office assistants, Chenle.”

“And that's all you discussed?” Jeno asked and Jaemin nodded. “Nothing else?”

“No.”

“No other subjects at all?”

“We just talked about Chenle.”

“Right and there's no way for me to check if that's true because whoever took Kevin's phone wiped all his calendars. But- all of them backed on to his laptop. So, would you like to hear what the meeting was about?” Jeno raised his eyebrows and flipped his book. “He said and I quote, talk to Jaemin about-”

“Missing meds?” Jaemin interrupted. Jeno looked up at him, unable to contain his surprise. “Ohh, did I get that right?”

Jeno nodded. “The missing meds and firing Chenle hardly have any connection. Do you want to explain?”

“He thought Chenle was stealing the diazepam. That's why he wanted to fire him. Any other questions?”

Taeyong walked towards Jeno and chuckled. “Oh Jeno, you thought you really had him with that one, huh?”

“Well…”

“And I'm pretty sure you practiced flipping that book.”

“Yes, of course I did.”

“Oh boy, you get so excited. Anyway, I would like to move on.” Taeyong said. Jeno looked back at him with disbelief and disappointment. “So you said you and Kevin were business partners. But, it's just Kevin's name on business, right?”

Jaemin nodded. “Well, he was the first one to start and I joined after.”

“Uh- so captain, I have something about the case to talk about. Can we talk about it for a sec?”

Jeno was already done with dealing with Jaemin at the moment. And he wasn't understanding what was up with Taeyong too.

“What are you doing?! You totally undermined me,” he let out.

“I'm sorry, I know. But this is strategy-”

“Really? By making me look like an idiot? Captain, I already lost so many times against him, I can't take chances.”

“Look, I know. I was trying to make Jaemin underestimate you and let him judge me as the superior one. Once he knows that you're not a treat, he'll put his guard down when you're alone with him.”

“I assume he never considered me as a threat and this feels as if you're defining the dumb cop/smart cop.”

“Listen, I thought he was done for at the calendar reveal. But he's too nice. He's not easy to take down, Jeno. And I thought we need to do something spontaneous to make your flustered moment an advantage on our side.”

Jeno sighed. “Yeah. I get it. So, what you want me to ask dumb questions?”

“Dumb questions, grammatical errors, losing train of thoughts and maybe some of your movie references? What do you say?”

“Me agree.” Jeno paused. “You know, dumb version.”

“Look, this isn't against you, Jeno. We both have to bring him down.”

Jeno nodded.

“And oh- maybe we'll give it a try making him uncomfortable another time. Physically?”

Jeno curved his lips and nodded. “Okay, let's get intimate.”

==

“So that night you met Kevin in your surgical suite. Why not in your office?”

“I was preparing for the next day's surgeries. I usually don't depend on my assistants, I'm very meticulous and I'm very careful about stuff-”

“So careful that you-” Jeno interrupted. “Wait -- what was I -- ? Nevermind, come back to me later.”

“We had a sweep in your surgical suite. It had been scrubbed to remove traces of blood and DNA.”

Jaemin nodded. “It's gone through industrial sterilization. People bleed in there everyday, we have to clean it by law.”

Jeno was now walking in circles and walking all over the tiny room. This for sure isn't the best thing he has ever done. Nevertheless, he tried to stay in his character.

“Oh, I remember what I was going to ask. Did you kill him?”

Jaemin exhaled. “No.”

“Ahh, I almost had ya!”

“So after you and Kevin had fought…” Taeyong began.

“Talked.” Jaemin corrected.

Taeyong hummed. “You left your office and you didn't take your car?”

“I had a plan on dropping by one of the bars and I didn't want to drive after I got drunk, so I took a cab.”

“Oh, so you didn't want to drunk text anyone so you didn't take your mobile either?” Jeno asked.

“My battery died and I didn't realize I left my phone until I got out of the building.”

“Oh damn… I can't leave my phone even for one second! I can't look away from my cats.”

“This isn't the right time to discuss your cats, Lee Jeno.” Taeyong said, furiously.

“Okay, chillax.”

“Anyway, talking about your phone-”

“Why are you so bothered about my pho- ah, things would've been easier with my location, doesn't matter, didn't have it with me.”

“We talked to the managers from the bar you visited and nobody remembers you coming there.” Taeyong said.

“It's not surprising no one remembers.”

“But let me ask you this, you killed him, didn't you?” Jeno asked.

“Nah. The bar was totally crowded that night. Wasn't helping with my mild claustrophobia.”

Taeyong looked at his phone and looked back at Jaemin. “Let's take a five,” he said.

“Maybe, I can take it from here?” Jeno asked.

“That sure will be…” Taeyong paused, nodding. “Very helpful,” he said before he left the room.

Jeno walked towards Jaemin, sitting on the table while he placed his hand on the chair he was sitting on.

“So, let's start.”

Jaemin shrugged. “Or maybe we should wait until your Captain comes back.”

“Smooth again. You sure would like that to your advantage, don't you?” Jeno smiled. “You're scared,” he whispered.

Jaemin grinned wider.

“Let's play archery, but with my questions, shall we?”

Jaemin rolled his eyes, his smile still not leaving his face. “Sure whatever.”

“These will hit you so hard, right fuking here,” he said, pointing to his heart.

Jaemin placed his hand on his chest and pretended to be in pain. “Already hurts.”

Maybe the darts Jeno referred to were coming towards him. The goals are always perfect on Jaemin's side.

“What kind of car did Kevin drive? And what did he wear on the day he met you, and which night does the cleaning crew sterilize? Have you been there where the body was found? And did you kill him? Were you partially or totally drunk and what did the cab driver look like?” he breathed out and looked into Jaemin's eyes.

“This seems like a huge waste of time, but here I go, babe,” he said. “Kevin drove a SUV, he wore his formal clothes like he usually does. They sterilize it on Tuesdays and Fridays. I've not been to Kevin's farmhouse since high school. And no I did not kill him, I was not very drunk for my preference, the cab driver had red long hair, tied into a ponytail, I apologize for not getting his license number.”

Jeno sat straight and nodded slowly. “Wow.”

Jaemin nodded. “Yeah.”

“You didn't fall for my "did you kill him" trick.”

“Nope.”

“Although, it's very interesting that you knew the body was found in Kevin's farmhouse, when the news wasn't released to the public.”

Jeno could feel Taeyong smiling watching where this was going.

“That information seems like it's something only the killer would've known.”

Jaemin's face changed colours, or that's what Jeno could infer from his expression.

“I can't believe you assumed I was the dumb cop,” Jeno scoffed.

Jaemin exhaled. “Kevin's girlfriend was the one who told me about it. I've been there comforting her.”

“It was a confidential information and we asked her not to tell, she-”

“She has been going through a lot, she might not remember.”

Jeno internally wanted to give up, again. “Okay, what did you mean when you said you haven't visited his farmhouse since high school?”

“My dad's friend lives there. I used to visit him a lot in my childhood. It's how I and Kevin met. You can ask him if you want to,”

“Everything you say connects, doesn't it? Well, we'll sure find out, we've got you, Jaemin.”

9:40 PM

Taeyong shook his head. “We don't have him.”

“What? I just told him that I got him!”

“He said he hasn't visited for so many years.”

“No neighbours?”

“The housemaid lives nearby but we haven't been able to contact her.”

“Then that's it! He doesn't know that, so we might just say the maid saw him that night.”

“You want us to lie?”

“I want me to lie. He'll crack for sure!”

“It's a tactical mistake. What if Jaemin was never there? You're guessing what happened.”

“Captain, I'm so sure he was there that night! I've a feeling in my gut. And it's legal! I once told a perp that I'm friends with Super Junior Donghae.”

“No, Jeno. What if it goes wrong? There goes our credibility and our leverage. Jaemin would know we haven't got anything against him. We need something else.”

The times when Jeno screamed with his guitar trying to prove that he's unstable so Jaemin would give up at one point, or even trying to break a chair and let him know that violence was also his chance and all the embarrassing things he had done came to his head.

Maybe he was being unstable all this time.

He couldn't find any other option other than lying, well, it isn't the worst thing he has done in his life. He could give up his self-respect for a minute but he wasn't going to let this man go for another time.

“So doctor,” he began.

But before he could go on, Taeyong chuckled. “Doctor, it's funny how people call dentists doctors."

Jaemin clenched his jaw. “We are doctors. We did four years in med school.”

“Yeah but it's called dental school.”

“But we learn about the entire body!” Jaemin paused, trying to collect himself. “You know it's hard to get into dental school, right?”

“Yeah because there are less dental schools. You won't call a dentist if you have cancer.”

“It's not that we are college professors calling ourselves doctors.''

“Not the same thing, my friend. PhD is a doctorate.”

“We are not amateurs. Try surviving in a world without dentists. I hope your teeth are taken care of well. Well enough to not rot and stink.”

“Uhm, captain, I think we should refocus,” Jeno tried to say.

At this point, Taeyong's face was furious. “No! You know the problem here is medical practitioners have co-opted the word doctor-”

==

And the next thing Jeno knew was Taeyong sipping in water. It was notable that Jaemin had kept his cool while both of them proved themselves to be flipping.

“Apparently that's a trigger for me.”

“Apparently. So can we lie now?”

“No.”

There has to be some way.

“Should I get angry?”

Taeyong looked back at him. “It won't work, Jeno. You have already executed this and it didn't work! it can't be intimidating to him or worse, you'll be laughed at.”

“But I can break something.”

“No breaking stuff!”

3:30 AM

“Tell us more about your relationship with Kevin,” Taeyong asked.

Jaemin sighed. “We have been over this a hundred times. We got along well.”

“So you never fought, at all? About anything?” he asked.

“I mean, we disagreed sometimes. But we had a great partnership. For instance,” he paused and smiled. “He never skipped a party so he could micromanage me as I tried to do my job. Isn't that what's happening here? That's why you're dressed like this, right?”

“I just skipped dinner plans. It's no big deal. And I'm not here to micromanage anyone. I'm here because I enjoy interrogating scum.”

“Yeah, scum like you.” Jeno said.

“That was implied.”

“I thought we had a good beat going.”

“We do.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Jaemin laughed. “You don't think the fact that he skipped a date has nothing to do with trusting you?”

“He trusts me.”

“Right. Then why did he make you the dumb cop?”

“He did not make me one. And it's not any of your business. We agreed on a strategy.”

“Right. But why isn't he the dumb cop?”

Jeno opened his mouth to say something to be interrupted by Taeyong. “Please, you never would've bought that.”

“What?” Jeno asked, taken aback.

“It's just uhm, between us you're more believable as-”

“Dumb?” he raised his eyebrows.

“Yes. The-uh, dumber of the two options.”

Jaemin let out a chuckle of shock. “Woo, that's rough.”

“Alright, you are not interrogating us, we are interrogating you,” he said and heard a "yes" from Taeyong. “Tell us about diazepam. If Chenle didn't take it, then who did it? Because we're pretty sure it's you.”

“It can be anyone, all of them have access to the storage room… I know it's stupid but, I trust the ones I work with.”

“Captain is only with me because I want him to be here.” Jeno explained.

“Really? So you're incharge?” Jaemin asked and Jeno nodded. “So all the strategies were your ideas?”

“Right.”

“And you signed on for it?” he asked with a pitched voice.

“Well…” Taeyong began. Jeno looked back at him.

“Ooh, this is so sad,” Jaemin said in disbelief.

“Shut up.” Jeno retorted.

“Your captain thinks you're dumb, ooh, this is so sad.”

“Okay that's enough, you punk!” Jeno raised his voice. “You think you'll get away with all this? You think you're smarter than us? I'm gonna tear you apart with one atom of inconsistency in all your stories. Your imperfect clumsy ass-”

Jaemin laughed. “Not me.”

“-will expose itself and after all years of rotting in prison, your body will be the dinner for those vultures!”

Jeno breathed out after letting out and sat back. There was silence with Jeno and Jaemin glaring at each other until the latter broke into fits of laughter.

“You're asking me to take you seriously with that?” and he didn't stop laughing out loud for the next few minutes.

==

“Do you feel like I lost the upper hand? I still think we're equal,” Jeno said.

“I told you getting angry won't work!” Taeyong said, impatiently.

“Well your strategies didn't work either!” he retorted with the same impatience. “The only thing that would work is lying!”

“No it won't. It'll backfire.”

“It won't, captain!”

“It'll jeopardize the whole thing.” Taeyong argued.

“Oh so, Jaemin is right. You don't trust me at all.” Jeno shook his head.

Taeyong's face dropped. “You know that's not true, Jeno. You're one of my best detectives.”

“Then let me do this my way,” Jeno begged.

“I let you but it didn't work well. That's why I had to jump into dumb cop strategy. I'm sorry, I know he's under your skin, frankly mine too. And I know you're frustrated. But the fact is, we have less against him and we may not get a confession, it happens, Jeno.”

Jeno sighed. “You're right.”

Or maybe not.

“I'll use the bathroom and clear my mind…” he said.

Taeyong nodded.

Jeno walked out of the room to barge into the interrogation cell making Taeyong panic.

“Guess what, fucker. We talked to the maid and technically the neighbours of Kevin's farmhouse and they said they saw you around that night. I've got you!”

Taeyong facepalmed watching the entire thing.

“Interesting,” Jaemin replied. “But I don't think the maid saw me.”

“Why because you thought you were so careful?”

“No, because she's been dead for years.”

Jeno's face changed. “Oh,” he said. “Well, I'm friends with Super Junior Donghae.”

5:45 AM

“So this is what's been happening?” Jaemin's lawyer said. “You were lying in the attempt to frame my client?”

“No no no,” Jeno said. “Even if we lied about having a witness-”

“Which you were."

“Well, Jeno's point is he can legally say whatever he can in an interrogation.” Taeyong defended.

“True. But it doesn't work the same with the jury. You screwed up and my client is leaving.”

“No, you can't dismiss him until you have my permission!”

“You've had him for more than 10 hours, another 15 minutes, we file a harassment claim.” the lawyer said.

“Then he'll stay for another 14.”

“Seriously? Are you a child?”

Jeno showed the lawyer his tongue. “Maybe I am.”

==

“Jeno, I told you not to lie!” Taeyong said, angrily.

“I thought it would work!” Jeno replied. “And I wanted to be the one who got him.”

Taeyong glared at him. “Is this about your ego? You want to prove to the world how wonderful and great you are?”

“It's not about everyone, okay?” he paused. “I wanted you to know.” Jeno paused, thinking.

He processed a tiny detail. "Not me" he remembered Jaemin saying.

“Oh my god. Oh my god,” he said, going through the case files and the photos of the surgical suite and smiled. “I got it," he said, showing it to Taeyong and ran towards the interrogation cell with excitement.

“He won't be answering any questions,” Jaemin's lawyer said.

“That's okay, I'm not asking any,” he said and looked back at Jaemin. “Well damn yes. I'm about to monologue, babe.”

Jaemin smirked. “Hurry up, then. You've only got 6 minutes.”

“Then, let me paint you a beautiful picture of Na Jaemin, a successful periodontist and a businessman who has been addicted to diazepam, a sedative you take because you're a junkie scum. Your rival doctors know about this but by god's grace, you were lucky. They were all drug addicts-”

Jaemin shook his head, “Not true." His lawyer nudged him to be quiet.

“-You found the exact time for them to be vulnerable and god blessed you again. Blessings were on your side and all of them were high on the drugs. Hence, a perfectly framed suicide.”

Jaemin kept on shaking his head while his lawyer was trying to shut him up. “Not true," he said again.

“But this time, you panicked. Your luck wasn't on your side. One day, you're working super late and your partner surprises you and tells you that he's found out that you're stealing the meds, again, addiction is a disease, I would be super empathetic if you didn't murder someone. He says he's going to file a report. You can lose your license. You fight and something snaps, you grab the first thing you find and hit him with it.”

“You didn't don't have the murder weapon.”

Jeno pulled out two photographs and placed him in front of them. “Don't worry. He's the picture I found in the suite shot six months ago and this is the picture our crime scene photographer took 2 weeks ago. You'll notice the difference of the missing heavy glass awards which were 5 the last time and now they're only 4. What happened to the missing one? You murdered Kevin with it.”

“That's not true,” Jaemin said.

“You lost all control and hit Kevin with it. The blood must've been everywhere but you were lucky again because you were in your surgical suite, you could've never gotten away with it if it was your office. You're lucky that the suite is sterilized-”

“That's not what happened.” Jaemin said.

“Don't speak anything, Jaemin.” his lawyer warned.

“-people would hear all the screaming but you're lucky again that Jin went to visit his parents. You put Kevin in the wheelchair and shoved him in the elevator. It's a miracle that there wasn't blood everywhere. You panicked, you left your phone and car keys at the office but Kevin's weren't. You took his keys and drove off. You can't believe what you've done. But then you remember- Kevin's farmhouse. You got lucky at every turn, you're the luckiest son a bitch-”

“No. It wasn't luck,” he said.

“Yes it was!”

“No. You're wrong about everything. Even about the doctors,” Jaemin began standing up. “None of the doctors were drug addicts and I was the one who gave him an overdose without their notice, yes perfect suicide. And about Kevin, I knew exactly where I was driving. I left my keys and phone on purpose, I was in the surgical suite by design and I didn't use some glass awards that any idiot would see missing. I made a rod out of a dental polymer, killed him with it and melted it back down. It's already in the mouth...babe.”

Jaemin blinked a second later. The colour and the confidence now completely gone.

Jeno breathed out after the confession as a tiny smile formed on face.

“Oh my god,” that was the first thing Taeyong said to disturb the silence in the room.

“Yes. Oh my god!” Jeno said as he tiredly walked out of the room, leaving behind a Jaemin who collapsed back on the chair. He let out a laugh of defeat.

“Sunlight,” he said, as he felt the morning rays hitting his face. “Wow, I usually don't appreciate little things.”

He and Taeyong chuckled together. “But, I have something I still don't understand. Did you know about the doctors and about the wrong murder weapon?”

Jeno gave him a smile. “I love the question, Captain. Yes, I knew about both of them. I immediately saw the glass award missing, and it turns out it was some cleaning lady who knocked over it.”

“Then why did you run in there like that?"

“Because while talking to you, I realized that Jaemin's fear was that we would think he was some dummy who got lucky.”

Taeyong raised his eyebrows. “He had the perfect crime planned and it killed him when he was called impulsive.”

Jeno nodded with a smile.

“Good job, Jeno.” Taeyong said, patting on his shoulder.

“Thank you, sir.” he smiled.

“Now let's go get some sleep?” Before Jeno could nod, Jisung entered the building with his bag.

“Hey guys, good morning,” he greeted them with a smile.

“Oh, it's -- morning…” Jeno chuckled.

“Well, in that case, Good morning.” Taeyong said and Jeno nodded with a smile and left him alone to enjoy his victory in solitude for the next few minutes.
