Cauldron bubble this cat is in trouble!

Summary:

Tommy loved being his brother’s familiar. He really did!

He just wishes that their families rival coven didn’t kidnap him for information and out of spite. It was very unexpected and incredibly rude of them.

At least they’ll be coming to recuse him while he chills in his animal form waiting.

Oh man he forgot how much of an asshole Dream is….

Notes:

This October I have written fics about 4/4 Halloween sbi, vampires, werewolves, the apocalypse and now witches! It’s spooky season gang!

As you can tell I’m thriving on SBI brain rot. (Plus I’ve seen way too many tik toks about Tommy being a cat lately so blame those for this fic.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

If anyone were to walk into the stone tower secluded from the rest of the castle they’d see a smug Norwegian forest cat casually grooming itself in a cage while an angry magician wearing a white headband paced and complained.

“Smug bastard,” Sapnap muttered as he paced. “Oooh look at me! I’m a clever cat! You’re an annoying motherfucker.”

Tommy paid him no mind and continued to groom himself out of spite. He pretended to cough up a hairball and let out an amused chitter when Sapnap flinched and grimaced.

Sapnap’s coven wanted to trap and kidnap Tommy’s human form and try to use him for information. Sucks for them that Tommy switched forms last minute.

So here he was kidnapped, and essentially stuck, in his familiar form sitting bored in a cage being held captive by his family’s rival coven.

He couldn’t change back even if he tried. The wards on the cage were incredibly strong. Tommy had to begrudgingly admit it was kinda impressive. If the situation were any different he knew Techno would like them.

However, Tommy knew that his brother would not find it impressive in this situation. Techno would be enraged and Tommy knew the pink haired warlock would rain hell on them if they even hurt him the slightest bit.

Tommy sighed slightly as he shifted into loaf position. He didn’t even want to think about what Phil or Wilbur would do.

Phil was Techno’s familiar and was one of the most feared familiars. Phil’s large hulking crow form was fast and agile and known for being merciless. Plus Phil had years of experience. His and Techno’s magic intertwined to the point where Phil could do miraculous feats.

Tommy whiskers twitched as he remembered the wings that sat on his fathers back and the absolute control he had over calling his fellow crows. Tommy was so jealous of that. He wanted to be able to do that! It was so unfair….

Phil would be livid that Tommy got kidnapped.

And Wilbur….

Tommy let out a slight whine and curled into himself further. His fluffy tail that had been lazily waving in the air dropped and wrapped around himself.

Wilbur was his witch. His big brother. The reason that Tommy had a family now. Tommy would do anything and everything to make him happy. He missed him…

Sapnap stopped his pacing and gave him a pitying glance. He quickly muttered something ineligible and threw him a cat treat he summoned.

Tommy ate it with little to no shame because why the hell not. It’s free treat real estate.

‘At least it was Sapnap guarding him, not Dream,’ Tommy thought to himself with a grumble as he shook himself from his thoughts about missing his witch.

The green masked magician was nice but he often switched to a cruel mood at the drop of a hat. It gave Tommy whiplash to try and follow his mood.

Tommy yawned wide showcasing his fangs before his mouth shut with a soft click. Sapnap whirled around and scowled at him a bit.

“You think this is so funny don’t you,” Sapnap said with an annoyed look.

Tommy shot him a look and tried to get across that “I don’t know what you want me to do about it, I'm just a cat.”

Sapnap rolled his eyes as he realized that Tommy couldn’t answer him in his cat form. “You really fucked up our plan, you know that right?,” Sapnap asked rhetorically as he resumed pacing. “God Dream’s absolutely pissed now.”

Tommy’s fur stood slightly on end as he stared with unblinking blue eyes at the pacing magician.

“Seriously he hates when his plans don’t go the way he wants them to,” Sapnap complained, running a hand through his hair. “He’s having a temper tantrum with George.”

Sapnap’s tail end of his headband that held a sigil flared, making him whirl around. He stood still for a moment before turning back to Tommy. “Dream’s gonna speak to you while I go help George with some things,” Sapnap explained with an annoyed look before marching out of the room.

Tommy could feel Dream’s magic approaching. It felt encompassing and sticky like tar.

It was nothing like Wilbur’s soft silken threads of magic, Techno’s strong but gentle thrum, and Phil’s comforting blanket of power.

It felt wrong.

The door slammed open and Dream strutted into the room. His green cloak swirling at his feet. The masked magician let out an audible snarl as he paced.

Tommy’s fur was fully on end as he watched with wary eyes. Phil once told him to never look away from a potential threat unless he had to.

Dream muttered to himself aggressively before whipping around and flicking his hand.

Tommy's ears pressed flat to his skull as the sticky tar energy enveloped the cage. He shuddered and shook lightly.

He missed Wilbur.

He wanted Techno and Phil.

Look Tommy knew they were coming to get him. He knew they were running and probably tearing everything in the path apart.

The collar on his neck let out a slight reassuring hum at that thought making him relax a bit. Most familiars had an item on their animal form that linked them to their chosen.

Tommy’s was an intricate collar done up with hundreds of sigils and protective runes. They had gone a bit overboard but Tommy had to admit it came in handy. His collar even had their family’s coven's green emerald hanging from it. Plus it was a cool red color.

“You know I wasn’t planning on hurting a familiar today,” Dream said conversationally. “But you really put me in a bad mood.” He flicked his wrist again.

Tommy shuddered as he felt cold all over. Like his energy was being sapped. The tar like magic, was too strong.

Tommy forced himself to breathe and fight through Dream’s tar as he tried to remember what Phil promised him once he joined their coven years ago.

Something about how they’d be able to feel if something was wrong with Tommy from even the slightest change in his breathing.

Tommy narrowed his eyes at Dream as his nose twitched. His tail curled around himself tighter. Fuck this shit.

Tommy knew they were tracking him and were probably almost here. But he couldn’t fight against Dream’s magic forever.

So he improvised.

Tommy froze and held his breath. He blinked rapidly as the seconds passed by and the tar like magic writhed around him in anger. His lungs ached a tad but he held it.

If Tommy was in his human form he would have laughed hysterically when he felt the ruins on the collar burn brilliantly.

‘Guess Phil wasn’t lying after all,’ Tommy thought sluggishly to himself.

Black spots started to appear but Tommy held his breath. If he passed out he passed out. The moment he breathes in Dream’s magic will do wherever the fuck it wants to him.

Tommy watched as Dream flicked his wrist again. His tail dropped limply to the floor as the weight of Dream’s magic hit him. Tommy couldn’t keep this up despite the encouragement the burning ruins were giving him.

The familiar managed to keep it up for a couple of more seconds before his eyes shut and he slumped limply to the floor of the cage. He was unconscious.

Tommy’s collar was whirling now and if he was awake he would have known that Wilbur was absolutely freaking the fuck out now.

But he wasn’t.

What happened next was a bit of a blur for Tommy.

He remembered his ears flicking a bit when he heard faint sounds of a fight before warm arms scooped him up. Tommy knew those arms and let out a weak chirp.

Wilbur shuddered slightly and held Tommy closer to him. He ran a hand through Tommy’s fur and scratched at the sweet spot behind his ears. Tommy melted in his arms.

As Wilbur held him he was feeding Tommy more energy and power input. Tommy forced his eyes open and squinted around.

Oh that was Phil surrounded by a murder of crows absolutely wrecking Dream’s ass he noted with a blink.

After another blink he noticed Sapnap and George unconscious by Techno’s feet. Rip those dicks.

Wilbur held him closer and Tommy sighed in content. His witch. His brother. His other half. “Let’s go home sweetheart,” Wilbur murmured as they approached Phil who knocked Dream out.

Soon Techno joined them and all four of them disappeared in a blur of crows. The coolest fucking way to travel.

If Tommy was more awake and coherent he’d gush about how fucking cool Phil was. The best familiar to ever walk the earth period.

But for now he was more than content to be held in his witch’s arms as his comforting magic washed over him as he fell asleep

The next morning Tommy woke up to lying on top of Wilbur’s chest. Wilbur had a pinched look on his face and looked unhappy. Probably the reason Tommy had woken up first. So Tommy made the obvious choice. He slapped his face a couple of times with his paw gently.

Wilbur startled before relaxing in relief at the sight of Tommy on his chest. “Welcome home gremlin,” Wilbur said softly. “You gonna change back or is it an exclusive cat day?,” he asked.

Tommy hesitated before shaking his fur out and in a blink of an eye there was a human teenager where there was once a cat.

Wilbur pulled Tommy impossibly closer. “There’s my Tommy,” he quietly said as he rested his head on golden locks and cuddled the teen.

“Hi Wilbur,” Tommy muttered.

“Hey toms,” Wilbur muttered back, running a hand through Tommy’s hair.

Tommy shifted slightly and let out an amused huff when Wilbur’s arm only tightened around him. “You’re gonna be super clingy now aren’t you?,” Tommy sighed.

“After yesterday? Oh absolutely,” Wilbur answered before placing a kiss on Tommy’s crown.

And sure enough Tommy was coddled by all three coven members. Yes, even Technoblade. His brother gave the best belly rubs when he was in cat form. Still second best to Wilbur though.

Tommy was only slightly annoyed when his collar was changed to a more updated one.

They put a fucking bell on it. A bell!

Even though he had to admit it was fun when he batted it and it made a noise. Not that he’d ever admit that out loud.

Still though regardless of how he was treated like glass and like he was going to disappear if he wasn’t next to them at all times he was glad to be home.

In their shitty cabin in the middle of the woods. With Phil’s bird form sitting on his head while they stalked Techno and Wilbur.

With Techno reading his books in the library and the pink haired man giving him pets with one hand.

And Tommy’s all favorite pastime annoying his witch. Nipping at Wilbur’s heels and jumping up and perching on his shoulder causing Wilbur to swear and try not to fall over from the weight of pure fluff.

Life was good with his coven. His family.

Notes:

There’s so many amazing writers and fics out there and so many of our ideas overlap sometimes. We may be on the same wavelength and come up with similar ideas but our ideas are our own.

I had to say something because I hate conflict and had a lil panic attack about it. Just wanted to say this.
