Work Text:
They're having another Starling City/Central City team up event. Barry and Oliver are flirting, as usual. But those two are dating, so it's to be expected.
Laurel knows they're pretty close to wrapping things up and... she's a little disappointed. Sure, it's great that their teams work so efficiently together and they'll be getting a group of dangerous criminals off the streets, but... it means that Caitlin Snow will be going back home to Central City. And, well...
Caitlin is the most beautiful woman Laurel's ever met. Her smile is just so... Laurel's brain maybe goes a little melty when she sees that smile. And she's brilliant. Without Caitlin figuring out how the powers of the two metas who were part of the gang worked, they never would have figured out how to subdue them. She's silly and fun too... Laurel might be a little addicted to her laugh.
She doesn't want their team up to end.
"You've got pining face," Felicity declared, settling next to Laurel.
"What?"
"You've been staring over at Cisco and Caitlin for the last ten minutes and sighing," Felicity mock-sighed for emphasis. "Soooo, which one is it? Which of my fellow nerds has captured the heart of the brave and wondrous Black Canary?"
"I'm not..." Laurel trailed off when Felicity raised an eyebrow. She sighed. "Sara isn't the only bisexual sister in the Lance family," she finally admitted.
"Ooooooh, Caitlin then." Felicity grinned impishly and waggled her eyebrows. "So is this a new thing? Spill. I need gossip."
Glancing over at Caitlin, Laurel managed not to sigh again. Last thing she needed was to hand Felicity more ammunition to tease her with. "Yeah, it's new. It's nice to feel this way about someone again."
"That makes twenty," Cisco said and Caitlin glanced over at him, confused.
"Twenty what?"
"Twenty times I've noticed you glancing over at Laurel and making doe eyes at her when she's not looking." Cisco smirked as Caitlin blushed.
"What? I have not been making doe eyes at her," Caitlin spluttered.
"Doe eyes. And I note you don't deny staring at her an excessive amount."
Caitlin flushed and crossed her arms. Told herself she wasn't pouting at her best friend. "She just looks... really pretty in that outfit."
"Uh-huh." Cisco patted her on the shoulder. "It's okay, you know. To move on from Ronnie. He'd want you to be happy and in love again, Caitlin."
"I know." Blushing, Caitlin stole another glance at Laurel and felt her heart give a warm little flutter.
Dig glanced at Thea. Thea glanced back at Dig.
"So... since Barry and Oliver are a thing now, does this make Laurel and Caitlin the source of the new betting pool?" Thea asked.
"I think so," Dig agreed solemnly. And then they both cracked up.
"We'll have to get Sara and the Legends in on this one. Think Sara knows she isn't the only bi one in the family?"
"Probably. Maybe." Dig hesitated. "Want to bet on that too?"
"You should tell her," Oliver said.
"Nope." Laurel gave him an arch look. "No telling." She poked him in the shoulder.
"Okay, no telling. Why not? The pining stares are clearly mutual. And I would like my best friend to be happy." Oliver gave her a sad, kicked puppy look that Laurel had learned to ignore back in high school.
"We live in different cities and, unlike with your boyfriend, no speedsters involved. She... probably wouldn't be interested in long distance even if she was ready to move on from her husband's death for someone like me."
"Someone like me, she says," Oliver muttered, "as if she weren't absolutely amazing. You do realize my speedster boyfriend would happily bring Caitlin along with him for Starling City visits if the two of you would stop pining."
"It's not mutual."
"It's is the most obvious mutual pining I've ever had the misfortune to bear witness to."
"It's a secret crush."
"It's really not."
Barry poked Caitlin in the shoulder. "When you're ready to stop pining, I make a wonderful taxi service between Starling and Central."
Caitlin stared at him.
"Just putting that out there."
Groaning, Caitlin asked, "am I really that obvious? You're... the person most oblivious to relationships and you noticed, so I guess I must be..."
"I'm not that oblivious," Barry objected.
Cisco rolled past behind them. "Oliver told him."
"Oooooh, that makes more sense," Caitlin muttered.
"Hey!" Barry pouted. "I'm so close to revoking taxi privileges." The threat was belied by the way he smiled proudly as Caitlin laughed.
