You smiled as you walked past your boyfriend of two years, Samy, practising his beloved guitar in his small room dedicated to all things to do with his band. He must’ve heard your shoes, as he looked up and smiled when he saw you. “Hey.” You say, as he smiles and pats the empty chair beside him. “What are you working on?” You ask, staring at the guitar in admiration. “Oh you know, just the usual. Getting ready to go meet the guys at the studio in a bit.” He smiles, strumming the guitar quietly. You smile softly and watch his utter concentration as he changes his fingers, creating a new sound from the guitar. It’s silent for a while, but it’s one of those silences that’s comfortable. Where you don’t mind just being silent with the ones you love, just happy being in their presence.
“Can you play me something?” You ask shyly. “Aw Y/N, you know I’m always willing to play for you.” He replies with a small laugh.“What would you like me to play?” He asks. “Just play anything, I don’t mind.” You laugh back, as Samy shrugs and starts strumming what you soon recognise as one of your favourite songs - ‘No Excuses At All’ by Alice in Chains. You sing the lyrics in your head, watching as he changes chords with no difficulty at all. He stops suddenly, looking up at you with curious eyes. “Do you want to learn how to play?” He asks, a small smile creeping over both our faces. You nod eagerly, as he leans behind him and grabs another guitar.
He shows you the chorus, by what you can piece together. “Ok so this is a G chord-” he says, standing up behind you and placing your fingers on the correct strings. “Now strum.” He says sweetly, bringing his hand over yours and strumming the chord with you. “And this-” he says, moving your fingers to another position. “Is a Cadd9 chord.” He says, again, strumming your hand down over the strings. You loved how he was so concentrated. He looked so peaceful.
He showed you another chord, and you pieced it together to create the chorus. “Add your beautiful voice to that, and I might just give you a kiss.” He says, raising his eyebrow, and you giggle softly. You start playing the chords, singing quietly to the chorus. Samy places his hand by his ear, signalling you to sing louder. You raise your voice as he joins in, and you sing the chorus over and over just gazing into each other’s eyes and laughing when you place one of your fingers on the wrong string.
You soon finish, and Samy takes back his guitar. You hear knocking on the door. “Come in!” You shout, before Samy says “I recall that I promised you a kiss.” He says, leaning forward. You smile, pressing your lips against his, before you hear Arttu open the door into the small room. “Hey Ma-Oh Ok” you hear, before he closes the door, and you both laugh quietly.
