His hands draw back from Binghe's neck, and the warmth of his closeness is gone, like a door to a hearth indoors slammed shut, while Binghe is crouched outside in the cold. Binghe stares at Liu Qingge's fingers, stained with blood. His blood.
He watches, transfixed, and Liu Qingge wipes the blood off on the flat edge of his blade. Binghe feels something sizzling frantically inside him, like the blood on Liu Qingge's skin is still a part of him. In a way, it is, but it's never worked like this before, not before it's been absorbed into someone else. Binghe imagines slicing his own neck open, letting his blood pour out over Liu Qingge like a fountain, a river — engulfing him, drowning him, smothering him, until he's gasping for air but all that is left is Binghe's blood, seeping in through his skin and deep into his bones.
