Chapter Text
🐤Hummingbird, Butterfly🦋
Tenko slowly wandered down the darkly lit corridors of the hospital's pediatric wing, Haruka was just talking quietly next to him.
Tenko was not even sure what he was talking about. His mind was stuck on one topic and one topic alone with his baby.
His little one.
His pup.
It was like a strange sense of relief washed over Tenko the moment Haruka had stated he had time to figure out what he wanted. That no one was going to force the omega to get rid of the pup. To get rid of this precious being that came from something so horrible.
It relieved Tenko to know that at least Haruka was on his side. That the older alpha had his back when it came to this. He could only hope that Yagi felt the same way.
“Tenko. Take a deep breath” Haruka instructed and once Tenko took the calming breath, his red eyes looked into Haruka’s gray ones and all he could see was kindness and understanding.
When was the last time someone looked at him with this unwavering kindness?
It was a strange thing really. To see someone actually care about him.
“We’re here, I know the ultrasound machine is in there as well.” Haruka explained softly and all Tenko did was nod.”there is no need to be scared…..I know you’re on the fence about what to do, but the ultrasound should still be done to make sure everything is going well in there” Haruka smiled kindly.
Tenko felt his hands trembling, and the nerves and anxiety were trying to escape from his throat. Even the butterflies were dancing in his belly.
Or was that the pup?
Tenko shook his head. He had to be delusional. He knew better than to hope that everything was okay. He was Tenko Shimura after all. One of the most hated men in Japan. He used to be one of the most wanted men in all of Japan.
Tenko was pulled from his thoughts when the door clicked open as Haruka opened the door, Yagi looked up at them with red rimmed eyes and Chiyo at least looked a bit ashamed.
“Oh thank god.” Yagi took a deep breath, rising from his chair “we were all worried about you” the retired hero stated, hugging Tenko gently.
There was no malice there, just warmth and a feeling of security. “I’m alright….just needed to clear my head.” Tenko admitted his hand resting on his stomach by the inside of his hoodie pocket. Tenko swore he could feel the pup through his skin.
Chiyo stood up and walked over grabbing his hand gently, “I am sorry, Dearie, I never should have assumed that you would want to terminate that was really rude of me and I apologize”
Tenko looked at her like a gaping fish. “It….I….” He stuttered out. He had no clue what to say, the woman wasn’t wrong, he probably shouldn’t have a pup, but fuck he….he didn’t even know what he wanted.
Tenko felt a hand gently squeeze his shoulders. “It’s okay, bluebell, why don’t get lay on the table for the ultrasound?” Haruka questioned gently.
With that Tenko laid down on the table, his sweater riding up slightly as Chiyo turned on the machine. “Alright, this will be a little cold, dearie” she explained gently, when the gel touched Tenko’s skin, a hiss escaped his lips. “Sorry.” She smiled, placing the transducer on his stomach.
Tenko just watched the grainy screen waiting for something and then he swore the image of a little person just appeared and Tenko felt the sudden reality of it all.
He was pregnant.
Oh fuck! He was pregnant!
His crimson eyes couldn’t leave the undeniable proof that was on the screen. His mind ran through every random possibility that could happen, even though his mind was racing his body was still.
He flinched when he felt another transducer pushed into his skin, and then a noise filled the room, it was rapid, it was harsh, it was….beautiful.
Tears dripped from Tenko’s eyes, he…..he was staring at perfection, even though the picture was grainy and they were only a blob. They were perfect.
“Would you like to know the sex?” Chiyo asked quietly, all Tenko could respond with was a dumb nod. It didn’t particularly matter to Tenko what the baby’s sex was, but he was curious. “This baby is a girl”
Tenko let out a wet laugh.
“You’re gonna be a mama, Toma, she’s gonna love you….foreva and eva”
Katsuki’s words rattled around in his mind, the pup was right, right on the money.
He was carrying a baby girl inside of him.
A baby girl.
He sniffled, wiping his eyes almost roughly, but his eyes continued to linger on the little screen and his ears listened to that rapid heart beat.
“She looks healthy, and you’re around I wanna say two and a half months” she maneuvered the wands like an expert and Tenko just stared in awe.
He heard sniffling off to the side and his head barely turned from the screen, but Haruka was tearing up and Yagi was all smiles.
It eased the uneasiness that seemed to permanently settle over Tenko. “We’re so happy she’s healthy, Young Tenko.” Yagi explained leaning over to squeeze his bicep gently.
Tenko didn’t even know how to react, these two men were happy for him.
They were happy that Tenko was happy.
They….Tenko didn’t deserve that.
This baby deserved a healthy….life away from him and the toxic sludge that seemed to hang around Tenko wherever he went.
The blue haired omega wanted to rip his own throat out, the waves of happiness and the waves of despair seemed to smash into him. His emotions were a whirlwind and in the destruction lay his confusion and indecisiveness.
Did he keep the baby? And hope that Yagi and Haruka were there for them?
Did he put the baby up for adoption? And hope that she ended up with someone who was kind and loving like Shouta and Hizashi, not someone horrid like Kai.
What the fuck was the right decision?
Tenko just didn’t know, all he knew was the baby was safe and healthy, and he would do everything in his power to make sure she stayed that way. “Can…can I have a picture of that?” The omega whispered and the beta smiled at him.
“Sure, how many do you want?” She questioned softly.
“Just….just one…..I don’t have anyone else that would want one” he admitted and she nodded.
Tenko could take his eyes off the screen. He was so tired and drained from all the events today, he was given a clear bill of health, a pregnancy confirmation, and two people who actually seemed to care about his well being. He felt the tears fall as his eyes fluttered shut, he knew Haruka and Shouta would keep him safe, he didn’t have much else to think about except falling asleep.
The drowsiness blanketed him as his heart rate slowed, his pup was okay.
His little girl was safe.
Not his, the little girl was okay.
With that thought Tenko drifted off to sleep to the sound of the rapid and healthy heart beat of the pup.
———
Tenko was confused as he looked around a large meadow filled with sunflowers and honeysuckle. The air was clean and crisp, warm and bright.
He was sitting there holding in his lap a little stuffed butterfly, it’s wings were an iridescent white fabric with little well loved frayed edges, it’s body a pastel yellow and the butterflies antenna were gold and iridescent. It’s little plastic eyes were scuffed and well loved but a sparkly pastel pink color. He held the butterfly close, like he knew how important it was.
“Mommy!” Tenko jumped at the high pitched little squeal, Tenko turned and was met with the most beautiful little girl he had ever laid eyes on. “Look! Look! Is a butterfly!” Sitting perched on the littles girl's hand was a monarch butterfly, vibrant orange, black and white clashed with her beautiful crimson red overall dress.
Tenko just stared flabbergasted at the mere beauty of this pup. He even smiled when he heard her little rumbles.
An alpha.
She was an alpha.
Tenko was surprised to see an alpha handle something so delicately. “Mommy, can we take the butterfly home, to Grandpa Haruka’s house?”
Tenko looked around for the child’s mother, his eyes only landing on open fields of sunflowers and honeysuckle.
Tenko jumped when he felt a little hand touch his cheek. He turned and was met with those sweet crimson eyes. “Mommy…..are you having those bad thoughts again?” She whispered, and Tenko purred, leaning into her small palm. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you, Mommy! Is my job as an alpha!” she grinned and Tenko reached forward delicately running his hands through her pale gray hair, his eyes lingering on the small horn in her forehead, and god did she have a beautiful smile.
“No bad thoughts, hummingbird” he promised, and Tenko had to admit that that was the truth… he was gobsmacked. She was just perfect in every way.
Her light and sweet voice.
Her crimson red eyes were so full of love and life.
Her long pale locks.
And of course the little horn on her forehead.
She was perfect in every way. He was curious he had to know.
“Hummingbird, what is your name?” The little alpha cocked her head to the side curiously and giggled.
“Mommy! You’re so silly! My name is Eri Shimura.” Tenko felt the tears fall from his eyes.
“Eri…..you’re just so perfect” Tenko spoke out softly, the tears cascading down his cheeks as he pulled her close hugging her tightly like he was afraid any moment she would disappear into the pollen filled air. He could smell the milky scent of her mixed with honeysuckle and jasmine. “Please don’t leave me.” He begged and the little alpha kissed his cheek and wiped away his tears.
“I won’t leave you, Mommy, we’re stuck together forever” she promised with that sweet smile. “That’s what you always tell me and Daddy!” Tenko raised an eyebrow and off in the distant field stood a man Tenko had never seen before.
His skin was a pale lavender, his hair was curly and a darker shade of purple, he had two horns that swished and curved out the side of his head and toward the back of it, his eyes were black with white irises, his ears were slightly pointed and his cheeks had a spattering of white freckles.
The man’s scent was of cardamom and ginger, Tenko found himself purring at the soft and spicy smell.
The man walked over crouching down slowly, “are my beauties ready to go?” Tenko about, passed out from the thick Italian accent. He was perfect.
“Daddy, mommy is being silly again.” Eri giggled and the man just smiled. “Having a bad thoughts day”
“Is that so, mela?” He questioned Eri and the little girl nodded her head.
“Well Vita Mia,” those white and black eyes locked onto Tenko, “don’t worry, I will protect you both” the alpha promised, leaning forward and gently kissing his forehead. “We are a family after all”
Tenko felt the tears.
He had a family?
Who was this alpha that treated him like a delicate flower?
Just….what was happening?
Tenko rose to his feet with Eri on his hip, the little pastel yellow plush held tightly to her chest.
The alpha wrapped his arm around Tenko’s waist oh so softly, “let’s get you home, Vita Mia.” The group started walking through the field of sunflowers and honeysuckle when the bright warm air started to dim slightly.
The alpha delicately extracted Eri from his arms and Tenko was frozen in place as the two continued walking and chatting with each other.
But Tenko couldn’t follow. His feet wouldn’t move. He was stuck. “WAIT! WAIT!!!” Tenko screamed more tears falling from his eyes. “Don’t leave me! please!” He begged, and the two turned, both having sweet smiles on their beautiful faces.
“Mommy! Don’t worry! We will see you soon! I promise!” Eri waved, her little butterfly flapping in the air.
The purple haired alpha gave him a sad, but sweet smile. “Vita Mia, we will see each other again. I promise. Ti voglio bene” he whispered.
“I love you too…..both of you” Tenko sobbed, the two disappeared into the air as a group of butterflies, they were vibrant shades or red and purple, the field started to dull and turn cold, Tenko was all alone.
The flowers were Disintegrating around his feet, the sun was quickly covered by clouds.
Tenko could see the field melting around him and he just started running. Screaming.
His heart was smashing into his ribs as he sobbed trying to get to the sunshine field he was in before and before he knew it the melting field was catching up with him and Tenko plummeted into the dark abyss.
——————
Tenko woke up with a start, his hands clinging onto the crisp white sheets on the bed he was in.
Tenko raised an eyebrow at that, where the fuck was he?
Eri?
“Eri?” Tenko called out, confused, why was he so confused? He shuffled around looking for the beautiful little girl he swore he was just holding.
What if she got lost?
What if she got hurt?
What if Kai got her?
“Eri?!?” He screeched once more, he whined when the door opened and the chai tea scent fluttered around the space.
Red met gray and Tenko started to sob his hand going toward his head gripping onto his blue hair. “Bluebell, you’re okay,” Haruka promised, crouching down at the end of the space.
Tenko had wedged himself between the wall and the king sized bed, his knees practically pressed to his chest. “I can’t find her” Tenko sobbed his hands shaking and Haruka raised an eyebrow.
“Who can’t you find, sweet pea?” Haruka questioned gently.
“Eri…..she….she was right here….I swear…..I” Tenko hiccupped his hands trembling as gripped his hair.
“Who is Eri, bluebell?” Haruka questioned, keeping his voice soft as he moved toward Tenko slowly not wanting to startle the omega.
“My baby….she said….she said I was her mommy” Tenko hiccuped rocking himself back and forth.
Haruka nodded. “Eri is still in your belly, Tenko” he promised, softly grasping the omega’s hand to place on his stomach. “She’s still growing” he explained and that seemed to settle Tenko. The omega sniffled, wiping his eyes.
“She was so perfect, Haruka…..just so beautiful and lovely.” He swallowed, leaning his head back against the night stand. “I….she oh my god” he hiccuped his hands clinging onto the pink hoodie so tightly his knuckles were white.
“Of course she’s gonna be perfect.” The alpha agreed, “she has a strong omega for a mother” he praised and Tenko sniffled wiping his red eyes.
“You’re too nice to me” Tenko whispered, looking over at the man.
“I’m just being honest” Haruka smiled and Tenko felt the warmth. All Tenko wanted to do was blurt out that she called him Grandpa Haruka in his dream, but he didn’t want to make things uncomfortable; he already was dealing with too much all at once. “Do you want to tell me about her?” Haruka offered and Tenko caught himself nodding, his hair flopping about.
“She was beautiful, Haruka.” Tenko whispered wiping his eyes, “she had beautiful red eyes, pale white hair, and god she had a little horn on the corner of her forehead. She was so happy, and delicate with everything. She called me mommy. She was a little alpha” he admitted with a wet laugh as he ran his hands through his hair. “She…she was so nice and sweet” he sniffled looking down at the black leggings. Tenko shook his head. “I’m crying over a dream” the omega chuckled, shaking his head.
“You know, a lot of tribes I have visited throughout my years of traveling believe that the omega is connected to the child to the point they can almost speak with each other. Maybe Eri was just letting you know she’s okay?” Haruka offered with a kind smile and Tenko looked down at his lap.
“She deserves better than me,” Tenko admitted, looking up at the speckled white ceiling. “I can’t give her what she deserves…”
“Tenko, you just escaped from one of the most terrifying places I have ever heard of. You’re strong. Mind, body, and soul. You pulled yourself out of that hell to save Katsuki and you, that takes guts, BlueBell.” Haruka stated, a soft smile on the alpha’s face.
“How is Katsuki?” Tenko questioned looking over at Haruka.
“He’s alright, his speech is still slightly slurred and he’s still really nauseous so they’re keeping him another night, but otherwise he’s okay, he was talking to me on the phone earlier all about his new friend Toma” Haruka smiled with a slight laugh, “I told him your name was Tenko, but I think he was still a little too out of it. To properly try”
“Yeah he was really struggling when we talked yesterday, he told me my pup was a girl, and I about died when he ended up being correct.” Tenko admitted with a slight shy smile.
“Kids just know shit don’t they.” Haruka smiled sweetly, “are you feeling up to going to the nesting store today?” Haruka questioned and Tenko’s eyebrows shot to his hairline.
“I….I can have a nest here?” He whimpered, wiping his eyes.
“Of course you can, sweet pea, why wouldn't you be able to?” The alpha questioned with a cock of his head.
“Kai used to tear my nests up, and….and would say only weak omega’s needed nests….i've learned to live without it…..my omega doesn’t really feel safe anywhere” he admitted with a timid shrug.
“Yagi and I will never touch your nest, we will also never scent anything you don’t want scented.” Haruka promised, “this upper level is all yours, we moved downstairs because Yagi can’t handle the stairs, bad knees and all” Haruka teased, making Tenko giggle.
“I would love to….but I don’t have any money” he admitted biting his lip. “I don’t know when I could pay you back”
Haruka just laughed, shaking his head. “Tenko, Yagi and I both have enough money for multiple families, let us help you, and don’t even worry about the money, okay?” Haruka stated and Tenko bit his lip, but nodded.
“Okay” he whispered, the rest of the morning seemed to go by in a blur, Yagi was super friendly and kind.
He had gone out and bought Tenko more hoodies and leggings in various pastel colors.
Tenko’s personal favorite was the mint green one with bunny ears on the hood, and he wouldn’t lie, he let them both scent it before he put it on, the chai tea and the blueberry pie smell made his omega relax.
So he was dozing in the back of the car while Haruka drove them towards a local nesting store which was something Tenko did not know existed.
The heat from the car was enveloping Tenko and he just enjoyed being warm, he also enjoyed listening to the light chatter from the front and the loving gestures Yagi and Haruka did for each other.
They honestly just fit and it was so nice to see.
When they pulled up Tenko looked at the sign of the nesting store and giggled. “Nests and More, very original” he muttered to himself as he followed Yagi and Haruka into the store and the moment Tenko’s eyes landed on all the soft and plush materials his heart was racing and his eyes were glowing.
Yagi quickly stepped forward grasping Tenko’s shoulder, he gave him a soft smile. “Omega,” Tenko chirped at him which made Yagi rumble. “We’re gonna go look at stuff together okay?”
Tenko nodded his fingers wringing together. Yagi looked at Haruka who just smiled. “I….this is normal right?” The blond questioned gently.
“Yes, when I took Shouta the first time when he was 5 or so, the boy leaned so hard into his secondary gender he was almost nesting in the middle of the department store” Haruka smiled as they followed closely Haruka making sure to hold onto Tenko’s hand.
The blue haired open wandered his fingers grazing over the blankets as they passed.
Tenko stopped as he yanked a tiger printed blanket, purrs erupted from him and he looked at Haruka. “You.” He chirped out, placing the blanket in the cart Yagi had grabbed.
Haruka chuckled gently, “thank you, Tenko” the alpha knew that meant it symbolized him. Tenko continued to peruse the blanket section happily little chirps and purrs could be heard, he grabbed a black and yellow striped blanket along with a rainbow one with kittens on it.
Yagi and Haruka were pretty sure they knew who those blankets represented.
Tenko paused looking at the massive wall of blankets in front of him, his eyes were wide and full of excitement, the blankets were all video game themed and Tenko…..well Tenko loved Video Games, especially puzzle games and his eyes landed on the perfect fleece blanket he gently tugged it out printed across the black blanket with white lettering all it said was -THE CAKE IS A LIE- Tenko instantly fell in love. He couldn’t get enough as he grabbed a few more random video game blankets. “Do you like video games, BlueBell?” Haruka questioned and Tenko nodded almost hesitantly.
“Yeah….” He chirped, “was safe” he admitted biting at his bottom lip, if Tenko could he would have taken the whole wall of video game blankets.
“Do you play on a system or the computer?” Tenko could barely focus on the conversation with Haruka as his eyes lingered on all the soft materials.
“I….I built the computer and had a switch….cause Animal Crossing” he slurred out, ripping the small companion cube plush off the shelf. “It wasn’t….great….but it was mine” he whispered, remembering how he would pull computers and things out of dumpsters to get parts it took ages before he had a working computer, and access to video games. He was embarrassed about it, but he had managed it.
He built it successfully. “Would you like something like that?” Haruka questioned and Tenko cocked his head confused.
“I left it all at the hideout….” He admitted thinking about his refurbished switch he had paid for by returning pop cans. It had been covered in stickers and little notes in sharpie from Twice. “And I’m sure the police raided it already….and my stuff was probably destroyed” he shivered as he squished the cube in his hands, purring at the soft texture.
Haruka nodded gently, Tenko watched him turn to Yagi and they were talking. Tenko's mind was too cloudy to really pay attention as Yagi wandered off, The Omega let out a whine and Haruka rumbled deeply. “He’s just going to get a few things, let’s keep shopping” The alpha prompted leading the younger man through the nesting store.
More blankets were thrown into the cart after Haruka prompted the omega multiple times reassuring him that he could and should get whatever he wanted.
Tenko paused at the exotic nest section curiously cocking his head to the side as he ran his fingers over the orange feather boa hanging from the wall, the feathers were so soft, and so gentle against his fragile skin. “Have?” He looked up with curious red eyes and Haruka rumbled.
“Go ahead BlueBell” he nodded, Tenko pulled the soft feather boa and placed it in the cart, more things were shoved into the cart, at Haruka’s insistence.
Tenko could actually feel his omega happily pacing back and forth, purring and chirping. Tenko swayed slightly leaning into the alpha’s side. “Thank you” he whispered, wiping his eyes as they watered.
Haruka was a godsend.
Yagi was too.
Both alpha’s had been a positive push Tenko needed, he felt safe and secure and like he belonged there.
For once in Tenko’s life he felt like he belonged. Like he could stay without worrying about someone hurting him, or belittling him, and his omega knew. His omega knew that these men were safe and would never harm him.
It was refreshing.
It had him relaxing and feeling ways he had never felt before.
Safe.
Content.
Cared for.
Tenko sniffled, giving the raven haired man a wet smile. “You’re welcome, Sweet Pea, do you need anything else? Or want anything else?”
Tenko’s eyes raked over the cart, “I….I I need a blanket for Yagi” he whispered looking at Haruka and the man smiled and nodded.
“I’m sure, this store has an All Might Section” he teased and Tenko snorted.
“It would be fair he was the number 1 hero,” Tenko admitted biting his lip. He still felt guilty about that battle. That Nomu had done some serious damage.
Tenko watched from inside that Alpha command practically screaming that he didn’t want this, he never wanted to go around murdering anyone and everyone.
Yet he did.
“BlueBell, no guilt, okay. This is a good day, and Yagi and I want to spoil you and get some lunch.” Haruka smiled and Tenko bit his lip, nodding his head as they continued to wander.
For Yagi, Tenko finally settled on a velvet pillow that smelled like blueberry pie. It was so lovely and sweet, he was tempted to buy more scents, but he restrained himself.
On their way to the check out, Tenko froze as his eyes lingered on the plush section, his feet were moving before he could stop himself.
“Sweet Pea?” Haruka called after him as he followed the alpha paused when he looked over his shoulder and saw what Tenko was holding. “Do you want it?”
Tenko looked down at the pastel yellow butterfly plush with trembling hands. The eyes were a bright and shiny pastel pink, the wings were a white iridescent fabric, the antennas were gold iridescent fabric.
It smelled like honeysuckles and warmth.
Tenko shakily held the butterfly over his stomach in shock.
This had to be a sign right.
This had to mean something!
Tenko looked down toward the little bulge under his hoodie.
Tenko could smell Haruka behind him when he swallowed thickly. “I’m keeping the baby” he stared finality in his tone.
His hands clutched the butterfly plush for dear life.
“Eri is staying with me”
