Work Text:
They were in the middle of Hero Ethics when a knock interrupted Aizawa, who shot an annoyed look at the door.
“Yes?” he called after a few seconds.
The door opened, and a green haired young man stepped into the classroom, looking as bored as their teacher.
“Hi, sorry for interrupting your class.” he said with a wave. “I’m Midoriya Dabi, I’m the kid’s brother. I need him home for a family emergency – I already called Nezu, he said it was ok for me to pick Izuku up.”
“Sure.” Aizawa nodded before looking at his student. “Problem Child, you can go.”
Midoriya frowned, looking at his brother, but the latter only shrugged.
“What the fuck, Deku?” Bakugo huffed from his seat. “You don’t have a brother.”
His intervention made their teacher tense, suspicious, but he wasn’t the only one. Dabi, who was looking around the classroom while Izuku was putting his things away, froze, turning on his heels to face the blond.
“What did you just call my brother?” he hissed.
“Dabi.” Izuku called, tone placating. “It’s fine.”
“It’s fucking not.” Dabi said, fuming. “That’s him, right? Kacchan.”
“Don’t call me that.” Bakugo spatted back.
“You told us you weren’t in his class!” Dabi said furiously to his brother, who rolled his eyes. “I’m serious. Izu. Why did you lie to us?!”
“Because I knew you’d react like that!” Izuku yelled back. “It’s fine, Dabi. Dad would want me to change class and –”
“He’d be fucking right!” Dabi interrupted him. “Do I have to remind you what that kid did to you?! He’s lucky he’s just a child, by the way. Nothing would have stopped Dad otherwise.”
“What did he do?” Aizawa interrupted them, drawing their gaze to him. “It seems personal, but as your Homeroom Teacher, if there’s a serious problem between you and Bakugo, I need to know, Problem Child.”
“It’s nothing serious.” Izuku said with a wave of his hand.
“Nothing serious?” Dabi repeated with a scoff. “Yeah, right. That kid told you to jump of a roof when you were ten, but it’s nothing serious.”
“He what.” Aizawa said while the class gasped.
Bakugo flinched a little before scowling, crossing his arms on his chest.
“I didn’t mean it, obviously.” he said, rolling his eyes. “And it’s not like Deku did it anyway.”
“Don’t you dare call my brother useless!” Dabi roared, blue flames appearing on his hands. “You bullied him for six years and then you told him to ‘take a swan dive off the roof’ for what? For fun?! Congratulations, asshole, because he did it!”
It was almost like time stopped in the classroom. Bakugo froze in his seat, and everyone stared at Izuku, who was still standing in front of his brother.
“Dabs.” the teenager said softly. “Stop using your Quirk before you hurt yourself.”
His brother didn’t listen, still glaring at Bakugo. Izuku sighed, taking his brother’s hands in his own.
“Izu, wait, I –” Dabi started to protest, flinching away from him.
“You’re hurt.” the teenager said, grip firm on his hands, and Shota could indeed see burns on him. “So shut up and let me take care of it.”
“Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?” Dabi tried to joke, but it fell flat. “The big brother taking care of his little brother?”
“Do you have a Healing Quirk you never told us about?” Izuku asked with a raised eyebrow. “I thought so. So shut up and let me heal you.”
“Healing Quirk?” Aizawa asked, frowning. “I thought your Quirk was enhanced strength.”
That made Dabi look at the Pro, head tilted in confusion before turning to his brother, who was still healing him.
“Nezu didn’t tell him?”
“Apparently not.” Izuku shrugged. “I think he wanted to know how much time it’d take Eraser to find out on his own. I mean, it’s not like I’ve been hiding my Quirks.”
“Your Quirks.” Aizawa repeated. “As in, plural.”
But before either of the brothers could say anything, a black portal appeared in the classroom, making him tense. Neither Midoriya seemed surprised, though.
“You texted Dad?” Izuku asked his brother with a sigh.
“You bet your ass I did.” Dabi deadpanned in return. “But I don’t know if it’s him. He’ll probably stay with Tenko and send…”
Before he could finish, a familiar Pro Hero walked out of the portal, making the class gasp and Aizawa himself raised an eyebrow when he saw the Number Three Hero.
“K – Hawks.” Dabi said. “Tenko didn’t want to stay alone with you, I gather?”
“He threatened to kill me, you mean.” the young Pro said with a huff, making the two brothers snort. “So your Dad thought it’d be better if I came here in his place. What’s the problem?”
“Nothing, Dabs is overreacting, as always.” Izuku said with a roll of his eyes.
Hawks stared at the teenager for a few seconds before turning to Dabi, raising an eyebrow.
“Remember when he told us his former little bully Kacchan wasn’t in his class?” Dabi asked, making the Winged Hero tense. “Yeah, he lied.”
“I see.” Hawks said softly. “I’m going to guess it’s the blond kid who’s been glaring at us since I’ve been here? We should handle this before your Dad comes, then.”
“There’s nothing to handle!” Izuku said immediately. “I am not transferring to a different school nor to a different class, damnit!”
“And why not?” Dabi asked, crossing his arms on his chest now that his brother had finished healing him.
“Because being here has been my dream since I’ve been, like – three! I’m not letting this change that! I have friends here! And we’ve faced worse than a fucking bully, Dabs, you know it!”
That made Aizawa perked up, intrigued.
“That’s a conversation for another day.” Hawks said when he saw Eraser reaction. “So you have friends?”
“Of course.” the younger Midoryia said. “Uraraka, Iida, Asui and Todoroki, to name a few.”
He said the last name while looking intently at his brother, who chuckled.
“Yeah, I saw the Sports Festival. It was a good fight, kid. Good job. But that’s not the point. I refuse to let you deal with –”
“Kami, Dabi.” Izuku interrupted him with a groan. “It could be worse. It’s not like we talk that much anyway.”
“He still calls you Deku!” Dabi growled with a glare in Bakugo’s direction. “He shouldn’t even be in UA!”
“That’s what I wanted to ask.” Hawks intervened, turning toward the other Pro. “Eraser, I thought UA checked the records of the students who applied here?”
“We do.” Aizawa nodded. “Bakugo’s record is clean.”
“That’s strange.” the Number Three said.
“It’s not.” Izuku contradict him with a huff. “He was bullying the Quirkless kid, it’s not like anyone cared. The teacher pretty much encouraged him and the others.”
“The others?” Dabi repeated. “You never told us there were ‘others’.”
“Telling you the guy who used to be my best friend became my bully and told me to jump off a roof was hard enough, Dabs.” Izuku snapped back before closing his eyes a few seconds. “Sorry, I – I know you want to help and all that. But I didn’t tell you all for a reason. It’s fine. Apart from the first day, we barely talked since the start of the term. I promise. And I can handle myself, I think I proved that already.”
Hawks and Dabi looked at one another, silently communicating before Dabi sighed, turning back to his brother.
“You have nothing to prove.” he said forcefully, confidently. “To anyone. Dad, Tenko and I wouldn’t even be here without you. It’s just – you shouldn’t have to deal with your former bully everyday, Izu. But if you say you can handle it, I trust you.”
“He can’t be worse than AFO.” Izuku joked.
“AFO?” Aizawa repeated with a raised eyebrow. “Are you talking about All For One?”
“You don’t know about Izu having multiple Quirks but you know about All For One, what the fuck?” Dabi asked, blinking rapidly.
“All Might told us about him, he wanted us to watch out.”
“Of course Ass Might would talk about him.” Dabi said, rolling his eyes. “There’s nothing to watch out for, though, AFO has been taken care of two years ago.”
All Might had told them Tsukauchi was in the known about All For One, so they would have been made aware if the Villain had been arrested. That would mean…
“Are you saying he’s dead?” he asked, and he could hear his students reactions.
“At least you’re quick.” Dabi muttered, making his brother glare at him. “Yes, he’s dead.”
“But that’s not the place to talk about it.” Hawks intervened, stepping between them.
“Actually…” Izuku said in turn, and everyone turned to him. “Maybe we should tell him – tell them. Aizawa Sensei should know, at least. And the class… well. Depending on their reactions, we’ll see about that transfer. After all, if they don’t want me here, I shouldn’t stay. It’ll be their decisions.”
Why wouldn’t they want you here? Aizawa asked himself, and he could see Midoriya’s closest friends frown, clearly worried. What the hell happened to you, Problem Child?
“Izu, you don’t have to – you don’t have to explain yourself.” Dabi growled. “Especially not to that kid.”
“I’m not explaining myself.” Izuku said with a soft smile. “But they deserve to know, I think. And to choose. Aizawa Sensei, you should ask All Might and Nezu to come – Nezu knows everything already, but it’ll be better to have him here. Dabi, can you call Dad?”
“Yeah, but there’s still Tenko.” the fire user frowned, phone in hand. “He wouldn’t want to be here, I think. But he can’t be alone while hurt.”
“Shit, I forgot about that.” the youngest Midoriya said. “Is he okay? What happened?”
“He’s fine.” Dabi reassured him quickly. “The dumbass fell on his ass during his shift and broke one of his arm. But you know how he is about hospitals, so Dad asked me if I could take you back home for a quick healing.”
“Ok, new plan.” Izuku nodded. “Tell Dad to open a portal here – and before you protest, Eraser, our Dad has a licence to use his Quirk – so I can go heal Tenko. We’ll be back in ten minutes tops, so Nezu and All Might can get here and Nezu can do his thing.”
“Sure.” Dabi accepted, typing a rapid text.
A few seconds later, a black portal appeared behind them. Izuku did a quick salute before stepping through, and the portal closed.
“This is a bad idea, I hope you know that.” Hawks said immediately after.
“Of course I know.” Dabi growled, closing his eyes with a sigh. “But you know how Izu is when he decided something. And Nezu will be there, so… Speaking of the Rat, you should call him, Eraser. And Ass Might, too.”
The nickname made the class gasp, and Hawks groaned softly, massaging his temple.
“Maybe you should stop insulting Heroes?” he asked.
“Why?” Dabi asked back. “Heroes are assholes, especially Limelight Heroes.”
“Why thank you, honey.” Hawks snarked with a small smile.
“You’re the exception, birdbrain.” Dabi rolled his eyes. “And I guess Present Mic is fine too. But the others? Let’s not talk about them. Especially not about your work partner.”
“Hey, no. You promised me a rant-free week, remember? We’re not talking about Endeavour on our anniversary, that was the deal.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Dabi said, rolling his eyes. “He’s still an asshole and you know it. Anyway, where’s –”
“Dabi, Hawks.” Nezu said, appearing at the door with All Might. “It’s been a while. To what do I own the pleasure of your presence in our school?”
“As if you don’t already know.” Dabi muttered with an eye roll. “Izu will be back in a few minutes with Dad, to explain things. About us. And AFO.”
“Wh – what?” All Might spluttered, white as a sheet.
“You heard me.” Dabi hissed, clearly angry. “And just a small tip, Number One: if you want to kill someone, make sure they are dead before blazing in the glory of a battle well fought. Asshole.”
“Dabi.” Nezu said softly. “I think All Might will understand his – errors. But aren’t you forgetting something?”
“If you’re talking about Present Mic and Midnight, I was counting on you to decide.” the green-haired man said, shrugging. “If you think they should be there as well.”
“I already called them.” the principal said with a smile, and a few seconds later, said Heroes arrived in the classroom.
“Helloooooo, Little Listeners!” Present Mic said, ever enthusiast, punching Eraser on the shoulder when he joined him, but he frowned after taking the class in full. “Where’s my favourite Listener? And Hawks, what are you doing here?”
“My brother-in-law was in trouble, so I came to help.” the young Hero said with a little smile.
“Your brother-in-law?” Midnight asked with a raised eyebrow, standing near her friends.
“Well, not yet, technically.” Izuku said when he reappeared at the door, head tilted on the side. “Unless you two eloped. If so, I’ll kick your ass.”
“Well…” Dabi said, shifting nervously.
“You’re kidding. Right?” his little brother asked, clearly hurt. “Am I the last one to know?”
“I – Dad was our witness, for my side anyway. And we told Tenko a few hours ago. I didn’t want a public wedding, I didn’t want to have to invite Number One and Two and I –”
“Couldn’t you have wait for a few days?” Izuku asked. “I would have loved to be there. I don’t understand why –”
“I wanted him to be able to take our name.” Dabi blurted out. “As soon as possible.”
“You sap.” the youngest Midoriya said after a pause. “I can’t believe Tenko was right, you’re whipped for your hero-boyfriend. Well, hero-husband, now.”
“I’m not –”
But Izuku ignored him, turning to his new brother in law.
“So, ready to be known as a Midoriya to the world?” he asked with a wink. “Midoriya Keigo has a nice ring to it, that’s for sure.”
“It does, doesn’t it?” Hawks – Keigo answered with a smile. “And as much as I want to talk about that, I think we digressed, unfortunately.”
“We did.” Nezu intervened. “Dabi, Keigo, congratulations on your wedding, we’ll have to celebrate someday. But we’re not here to talk about that.”
He then turned to his student.
“I assume he’s waiting outside?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah.” the teenager said. “I didn’t want to freak them out. And he’s probably psyching himself up, too. He’s okay with telling everything, but well… Tenko is kind of a bitch when he’s hurt.”
“Tenko’s always a bitch.” Dabi said with a eyeroll. “The guy has the most destructive Quirk between us and yet he’s the drama queen of the family.”
“Like you can talk, M. I-hate-Heroes-and-yet-I-married-one.” Izuku snarked back with a smile.
“And what about you?” Dabi said with a teasing smile. “Midoriya I-hate-Heroes-but-I’m-in-Hero-school Izuku, right?”
“Boys, stop fighting.” a new voice said, sighting, and Izuku saw three of his teachers tensed, clearly surprised.
His dad entered the room, cloudy green hair flying above his head, blueyish wary eyes observing the classroom – his former classroom – before he put his hand on his and Dabi’s shoulder.
“We’re not fighting.” the fire user said. “I’d already have kicked his ass otherwise, and you know it.”
“Oh please, as if I’d let you – ”
“Oboro?” Aizawa whispered, loud enough for the whole class to hear him and to be silenced.
“Shouta.” their Dad said with a nod. “Hizashi. Nemuri. It’s… it’s been a while. Nezu, a pleasure, as always.”
“Likewise.” the principal said with a little smile.
“…Shirakumo?” Midnight said, clearly shocked. “You – you’re alive? We – we thought you were…”
“It’s Midoriya now, actually.” Oboro said softly. “And yes, I am. Sometimes I wish I…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, but Izuku and Dabi both knew what he wasn’t saying. Sometimes, he wished he wasn’t alive, he wished he died all those years ago. And apparently, Izuku’s Homeroom teacher understood too.
“What happened to you?” he asked softly. “It’s been fourteen years since you di – disappeared.”
“I was taken by a Villain.” Oboro said after a few seconds. “His name was All For One.”
That made All Might gasp, but one look from Nezu silenced him.
“He wanted me to become a puppet of sort.” Oboro said with a shrug. “All For One had a doctor, and he liked to… experiment with Quirks. He gave me a new one – the portals you all saw earlier. I still have my Cloud, of course, but they’re different now.”
“Wait – he gave you a Quirk?” Present Mic said. “That’s not – that’s not possible.”
“All For One could take any Quirk he wanted from anyone.” Izuku explained. “He could keep them, or he could give them to someone else. He was part of the First Generation of Quirks, two hundreds years ago. He had a longevity Quirk and built his little Empire slowly. That’s how he became the ruler of the underground.”
“But why would someone like him want you?” Aizawa asked Oboro. “A Hero student – ok. But your Quirk…”
His Dad didn’t need to say anything, Izuku could see his teacher connecting the dots alone. His eyes widened, and he paled, looking like he was a second away from throwing up.
“He didn’t want you.” he said softly. “He wanted me.”
Present Mic immediately tensed, and the whole class gasped too, shocked.
“He wanted me.” Aizawa repeated. “Oboro, I’m so –”
“You don’t have to apologise.” Izuku’s Dad interrupted him. “Never apologise for not having been kidnapped, Shota. And it’s better, that it was me.”
“Oboro!” Present Mic protested immediately while Aizawa took a step back, as if someone just slapped him.
“I’m not just saying that because we’re friends.” Oboro said softly. “It’s a good thing AFO never got his hands on Erasure, trust me. And you did good as a Hero, you all did. Anyway, where was I?”
“You said All For One wanted to make you a puppet.” All Might said, face blank.
The oldest Midoriya stared at the Number One Hero for a long moment before he turned his eyes on his former classmates and friends.
“I’ll spare you the details, but it didn’t take.” he said with a shrug. “So AFO relegated me as a sort of caretaker, for the children.”
“The children?!” Mic repeated, clearly appalled.
“Yeah, the children.” Oboro nodded, tightening his hold on his sons’ shoulders. “Most of them had run away from home, so AFO could do anything he wanted with them. That’s how I met Tenko and Dabi. I took care of them for a few years, before…”
“Before…?” Aizawa asked after a few seconds of silence.
“Before AFO took me, too.” Izuku said, making everyone in the class freeze. “I was ten.”
“Problem Child…” his homeroom teacher said slowly. “What happened to you?”
Izuku’s smile was painful and he knew it, but he couldn’t muster anything better at the moment. “When I was four, I was diagnosed Quirkless.” he revealed. “My father left us not long after – he didn’t need a useless son after all. And my friends? Well, let’s just say lacking a Quirk in today’s society is not a good thing. The first time someone told me to kill myself, I was six, I think.”
Izuku could feel his Dad, his brother and Keigo near him, and that was a good thing. He didn’t think he could explain all of this alone.
“I jumped off a roof when I was ten.” he said bluntly, making everyone tense. “But someone found me before I – well, before I died. It was AFO’s Doctor. And for him, a Quirkless kid was a golden opportunity, right? I was a clean state in term of Quirk factor, they could experiment everything they wanted on me. So he took me to AFO. And when I woke up, I was pretty surprised to find myself in front of the father who’d abandoned me when I was four for being Quirkless – AFO was my deadbeat of a sperm donor, as you liked to call him, Kacchan.”
His revelation was met by nothing but silence, before his former bully spoke.
“What?” the blond asked, blinking furiously. “Your fucking father is –”
“Kacchan?” Oboro interrupted him, voice soft and dangerous. “The ‘Kacchan’ who isn’t supposed to be in your class?”
“Not now, Dad.” Izuku said with a wave of his hand, because he could see that All Might was finally reacting, and it was bad.
The Number One Hero was straightening himself at his full height, and his face changed into his sneer, while his eyes hardened, staring almost hatefully into Izuku.
“You’re his son!” he snarled, taking a step forward.
But before he could say anything else, Izuku’s Dad moved too: a second later, he stood protectively in front of the teenager, and Izuku didn’t need to see him to know he was staring angrily at the Hero.
“One more step.” he said, voice clipped. “You take one more step towards my son and, Number One Hero or not, Symbol of Peace or not, I will end you.”
“And I’ll help him.” Hawks chimed in quietly. “Can’t let you threaten my brother, after all.”
“Izuku’s story is not over.” Nezu said in the silence that followed. “It would be most… informative for you, All Might. Of course, I can’t let you stay if you threaten one of our students, I’m sure you’d understand?”
“Of course.” All Might said after a few seconds, taking a step back, eyes still fixed on Izuku. “Where were we?”
“Problem Child?” Aizawa asked after a few seconds of silence, Izuku and All Might still staring at each other. “We can stop, if you need to.”
“That’s fine.” the teenager said, taking his eyes away and smiling softly at his homeroom teacher. “So. Because I was Quirkless and because AFO was my biological father, it was easier for them to experiment on me: to give me Quirks and to take them away after a while. I met my Dad and my brothers during our… captivity. And because I was a useful test subject, I was given more liberties. So we started to plan for our escape.”
“It took us two years.” Oboro said. “When Izuku was twelve, we were able to get out. AFO and the Doctor were killed, and all their research were destroyed. I didn’t really know what to do, so I contacted Nezu and he helped us settle down.”
“Are you saying All For One is dead?” All Might summarised, clearly skeptical.
“He is.” Dabi nodded. “And no thanks to you.”
That made the Symbol of Peace grit his teeth, but before his could say anything back, Bakugo intervened:
“Wait.” he said. “What about Auntie?”
That was enough to make Izuku flinch, and he had to take a deep intake of breath before he could answer.
“Yes?”
“I – the old hag told me years ago that she moved to go live with that deadbeat sperm donor of yours, but if he was a Villain I guess she didn’t? But Mom didn’t have news since then so.”
“Oh.” Izuku said softly. “You don’t know.”
“Don’t know what?” Kacchan growled.
“That’s not the best place to talk about that.” Oboro intervened. “We should wait –”
“Deku, what happened to Auntie Inko?” Bakugo demanded to know, little explosions bursting in his hands.
“She’s dead.” Izuku said, making his childhood friend freeze and the class stop. “He killed her, after – after he took me. Because she didn’t – she didn’t want me to go with him, I guess? He made it look like we moved abroad, I think.”
“…what?” Bakugo asked after a few seconds of silence, still frozen.
“It’s one of the reasons everyone took my name after – after.” Izuku added. “I mean, they asked me to, and I didn’t want to be the only one carrying Mom’s name. And I think she’d have loved them.”
“She would have, yes. They take care of your sorry ass, so of course she would have.” Kacchan nodded absently. “Deku, am I responsible for Auntie Inko’s –”
“No.” Izuku interrupted him before he could finish. “It’s not your fault, Kacchan.”
“I told you to jump.” the blond said, voice still absent. “I didn’t mean it, obviously, but I told you to jump and you did it. The scumbag took you and killed her. It’s my fault she’s dead. I killed her, Deku.”
“No.” Izuku repeated forcefully. “It’s not your fault, Katsuki. I didn’t jump because of you.”
“Don’t lie to me, Deku!” Bakugo hissed.
“I’m not lying.” Izuku insisted. “Did it hurt, what you told me? Of course it did. But whenever you like it or not, I know you, Kacchan. I knew you regretted those words as soon as they left your mouth. Were you an asshole to me when we were young? Absolutely. But you never crossed that line before that day. So, in a way, that helped. You hurt me that day, I won’t deny it, but I knew you didn’t mean that.”
“Then why did you…?” Bakugo asked.
“Why did I jump?” Izuku asked with a bitter laugh, doing everything in his power to not look at All Might. “I was on a roof, after school. Not to do anything, just to think – heights helped me, back then. A Hero stopped by, one of my favourite Hero, a complete coincidence. I asked him if someone Quirkless could be a Hero. He said no, that I needed to be realistic and to give up. Let’s just say it was enough to turn a bad day into a nightmare. When he left, well, the edge of the building was suddenly very appealing. So I jumped.”
“Who was it?” Bakugo asked after a few seconds, clearly angry.
“I’d like to know that too.” Dabi intervened, frowning. “Just to have a discussion, I’m sure you understand.”
“Don’t worry, I’m handling it.” Nezu said when Izuku didn’t answer.
“What?” the teenager said. “No! I didn’t tell you so you could –”
“So I could what?” Nezu completed with a raised eyebrow. “Investigate the discriminatory behaviour of one of my teacher?”
He could see when All Might realised they were talking about him: the way he tensed and how he took a sidestep to back away from Nezu. And by the way Aizawa frowned, he wasn’t the only one who saw it.
“WHAT?” the class said as one.
“That’s so unmanly!”
“Of course Midori can be a Hero, Quirk or no Quirk!”
“That kind of behaviour is not suited for a UA teacher!”
“Why are you going to do?” Izuku asked the principal, his classmates complaints drowning in the background.
“I’ll have a conversation with them, and depending of the outcome of that conversation, some punishment might or might not be given.”
And that was more than fair, Izuku realised before shrugging. “Well, it’s your staff.”
“Why yes is it.” Nezu nodded with a smile, making him roll his eyes. “Well, if no one has any questions…”
“I do.” Aizawa interrupted him, making everyone turned to him. “What are the kids Quirks? I can’t train him right if I don’t know.”
“Wait, you really still don’t know?” Dabi snickered. “Tenko owns me ¥2,000! He said you’d have them figure it out by now!”
“Why am I married to you again?” Hawks said with a groan, making Izuku laugh and Dabi pout.
“To answer your question, Aizawa Sensei, I have three Quirks: Enhanced Strength, Healing and Stealth.” Izuku said. “And I really thought you knew, sorry.”
“How the hell would I know about that?” his Homeroom teacher asked with a deadpanned look.
“Izuku asked Nezu to tell you.” Oboro intervened. “But we had our own bet going, so I asked him to wait. I also wanted to know how much time it would take you to notice his Quirks. Sorry for not telling you, sprout.”
“You bet on me with my dead friend?” Aizawa drawled in the Principal direction.
“Shirakumo wasn’t dead.” Nezu said with a little smile. “You were just unaware of his survival. He wanted to tell you all in a few months.”
“Sometimes I wonder why I work for you.” Aizawa groaned, looked tired and making the other Pro Heroes in the room snicker at him.
“Well…” Izuku said when the silence stretched in the room. “I’m gonna go – I think?”
“Go where, Problem Child?” his homeroom teacher asked him. “Classes are not over.”
“Are you saying you still want me to…?”
“To what?” Aizawa repeated. “Be in class? Of course, Problem Child. Don’t think that I’ll show favouritism because you’re the son of one of my best friends, though. Back to your seat, Midoriya. You still have English and Homeroom.”
“And… is everyone ok with that? With me staying?” Izuku asked his classmates, because he needed to be sure.
“Don’t be a dumbass, Deku.” Bakugo said after a few seconds, making his brother and father hiss at the nickname. “You can’t hope to beat me if you leave, right?”
“I think that’s the nicest thing you ever said to me, Kacchan.” Izuku said with a wet laugh, making his old friend roll his eyes.
“So, drama’s over?” Dabi asked after a few seconds. “Can I meet the kid you’ve been crushing on, then? What’s his name again? Hitoshi or something?”
All eyes went to the General Studies transfer student, who joined their class barely a month ago. And Izuku dropped his head on his hands, groaning.
“Dabi. You’re an asshole.”
