Work Text:

George, bored and impatient, sits at the bar somewhat anxiously shaking his leg as he is looking at his phone and occasionally glancing at both his best friends. He sighs as they both slowly dance their way over to him. They try to make him dance but there is no way you will catch a sober George dancing, in public that is.

"George, come on," Sapnap slurs, holding onto the bar with both hands to keep himself up. "You're so boring."

"I already had one drink with you since it's your birthday but I have to drive us home. Trust me I want to have more," George states, thinking about how bored he has been and how he wants a better distraction, that distraction being alcohol.

Dream peers into the conversation, after downing the rest of his drink and asking for another from the bartender, "you suck."

They eventually give up on trying to convince him and walk away. Dream separates from Sapnap, walking over to the other side of the room where a bunch of girls are dancing. George can't hear him, but he's certain by the looks on the girl's faces that Dream is flirting with them. George thinks he probably doesn't want to watch that play out, so he searches for his other friend, who is lying on a table and pretending to play an air guitar. Just as he sees Sapnap reach for his drink, he thinks, 'why am I friends with these guys?'

George crosses his arms against the bar and drops his head on top of them, 'this is going to be a long night.'

He almost falls asleep but he asks the bartender to make sure that doesn't happen, so once he feels them tap his shoulder, he lifts his head. He thanks the man who just nods and smiles understandingly before resuming his job, serving another customer. He feels a breeze against his side when Dream sits down next to him.

"How'd it go?" George asks tiredly, immediately regretting the question and hopes he doesn't supply him with the fine details. "No wait don't tell me."

"All I can say is that, the bathrooms are tiny," he nudges George's arm, smirking.

"I said I didn't want to know!" He exclaims quickly with his hands on his ears.

Dream laughs, then pulls them away to say, "I'm joking George, nothing happened."

George seems to relax before furrowing his eyebrows, he hesitates, "why didn't anything happen?"

"The same reason why nothing ever happens," Dream explains. "I just don't know what that is."

He is a little shocked, he never knew Dream had trouble with this sort of stuff. Dream is attractive, he thought everyone knew that. Maybe it's a bit weird that he thinks that way about his best friend. He zones out while Dream asks the bartender for another drink, but comes back to earth when he hears him change his mind and order a second one. He remembers he's looking after two people and locates Sapnap, who is sitting in a chair and looks completely out of it.

He turns to his dirty blonde friend drinking his newly bought can, "I think we should go."

George is worried about how much Sapnap has consumed and how much Dream will consume, which is why he cuts their celebration short.

"George no, we're fine here, I mean look at-" Dream sluggishly tries to defend, as he searches for Sapnap when he sees him pointing to the ceiling and laughing. "Okay maybe not him but I'm fine. I promise you."

Dream smiles lightly as George holds up three fingers and asks him how many he is holding up. The taller boy leans forward, squinting his eyes before concluding confidently, "definitely four."

He shakes his head, lighting slamming his hand on the bar, "nope it was three."

"Okay," he scoffs, "that's like one finger less than what I said. I'm fine George."

George ignores the words that left Dream's mouth and walks over to Sapnap, he starts to hear him counting to himself. He doesn't notice George walk in front of him, which concerns the brunette. He waves his hand in front of his face, "hey, you doing good?"

That seems to snap him out of whatever trance he was in because he tilts his head so fast and his energy is back again.

"Georgie!" he shrieks fairly loudly. It almost embarrasses him since he thought everyone in the building would have heard that.

"How about we go home?" He questions, but finds him to be another unwilling friend. Dream walks over by this point and overhears the conversation.

"See? He doesn't want to leave either," Dream points out, holding his drink down to the side of him which Sapnap quickly grabs. "Hey-"

Sapnap chugs more than half the can, most of it missing his mouth. Dream rips it away from him, "I paid for that, dumbass."

They both stand around the drunk boy, who starts giggling at his own endeavor. "Do you see what I mean now?"

Dream sighs, then hears Sapnap ramble, "you just got told! I don't know what you got told for but you did."

George holds out his hand for Sapnap to grab, "come on let's go home," he lifts the boy up, he wobbles here and there so George makes him put his arm around his head.

"Can we have ice cream?" Sapnap asks, portraying a babyish tone to his voice. George says yes, "as long as you listen to me."

Sapnap starts laughing in a quiet and equally as evil way then he utters, "okay daddy," and laughs louder, back into his normal voice.

George's eyes widen and halts slightly once he realises what he says, he continues to walk them towards the exits, "I'm never babysitting you guys again."

Dream almost falls over the step on his way out but regains his balance in time. George has to hold a sudden laugh in. They get in the car with Dream in the front and Sapnap in the back. George discreetly locks all the doors when he climbs in, worrying that they might try to jump out the car, though it is still a possibility. George almost drives off when he notices that Dream isn't wearing a seat belt. He tells him off, obviously Dream doesn't want to but George reminds him of the ice cream he promised Sapnap, that's when he shuts up and quickly puts his seat belt on. The radio is playing on the way home which is a 30 or so minute drive. Every now and then a song that none of them know comes on and Sapnap pretends he knows the words to it.

At the end of a song and out of the corner of his eye, he sees Dream turn around to the back seat, and suddenly he complains, "Sapnap hasn't got his seat belt on."

George looks in his rear view mirror and can't see Sapnap, he is obviously lying down, "put your seat belt on!"

He groans very audibly, "but it hurts my neck and I want to lie down."

"Please Sapnap," George starts to feel his heart rate speed up. It isn't that he doesn't trust his driving, he is just paranoid about being safe. "When we get home, I promise you can do whatever you want."

He sits up promptly, still sulking but listens. George exhales the air he is holding and proceeds to drive home. Once the car comes to halt and the familiar structure of home becomes visible, Dream hops out and runs to the door. George goes to call him back for help but gives up last second, knowing he's probably pushed Dream's obeying limit. He gets out and opens the door for Sapnap to do the same.

"Carry me!" Sapnap exclaims again in a baby voice.

"I'm not carrying you Sapnap."

"Aw," he pouts. "Why?"

"Because you're 21 and you can walk yourself," George argues.

"Not today," he slowly smiles. George sighs because he knows that he's right and he can barely stand.

"I'm not carrying you!" He chuckles as he shakes his head.

"Please," Sapnap pleads, holding his hands together in a praying motion.

George holds out his arms, "fine but just this once," and waits for Sapnap to get out of the car. He is so happy whereas George begins to feel nervous, he isn't sure why though. He stutters as he asks, "h-how do you want me to carry you?"

"Koala bear!"

"What?"

"Oh my god gogy like a bear hug! I'll show you," he yells in his normal tone. He stands up and places his hands gently on George's shoulders. "Get ready to catch my legs."

Sapnap warns him so suddenly, that he has no time to process what is about to happen, "wait what?" George usually doesn't like physical touch, which is probably why Sapnap is making him do this, then Sapnap asks, "how else are you supposed to carry me?"

He stares into George's eyes, almost like he's asking if he's ready with his eyes, so George nods. Sapnap jumps, wraps around George's waist and at the same time George grips onto his legs. He instantly blushes when Sapnap is taller than him, he feels slightly overwhelmed but calms himself from panicking too much. Sapnap giggles as they begin to walk towards the front door of their house and digs his head into the curve of George's neck.

Dream is waiting patiently- sorry- banging his head lightly against the door, "finally," as he turns around he blinks to make sure he's seeing them correctly, "what the fuck?"

George explains that he wouldn't get out of the car unless he carried him like this, Dream laughs and grabs his phone to take a photo of them, "I swear to god, if you show anyone."

"What are you gonna do? Ground me?"

"Yes, I'll lock you in the cupboard," he chuckles slightly. "I'm serious though, don't show anyone."

"Aw, does someone have a crush?" he asks teasingly, whilst fake pouting.

George fumbles the keys out of his pocket with one hand, then chucks them towards him, "shut up and open the door."

His mouth drops a little, "oh my god, you do!"

"I don't!" he differs and looks down, well the best he can since Sapnap's body is in the way. "I'm not into anyone at the moment."

'Does he? Surely not, Sapnap's his friend. Not a.. crush,' he thinks as Dream unlocks the door. Sapnap is quiet the whole time but he wasn't really listening to the conversation.

"Well I'm going to bed, good luck with.. that," he points to Sapnap.

"Thanks for the help Dream," George replies sarcastically, then resumes carrying Sapnap to his room. He leans over to lay him on his bed but there was one problem.

"Sapnap let go," he whines.

"I don't want you to leave."

"But I want to sleep, I'm tired."

"Sleep in here with me," Sapnap digs his head deeper into George's neck, if that is even possible and holds onto the back of his neck. George doesn't think it's a good idea to sleep in his bed but he has to get him out of his neck somehow, the act is making George's' stomach feel weird, like hundreds of butterflies are flying around in there. So he agrees, which makes Sapnap giggle, let go and fall down on the bed. The thought of running to his room goes through his mind but he also saw how happy Sapnap looked, he doesn't want to upset him. He slowly climbs under the sheets of the bed and Sapnap quickly follows.

Sapnap smiles, knowing that he got everything he could've ever wished for today, and closes his eyes.

"Happy birthday Sapnap," George whispers to the thin silent air before falling asleep.

The next morning, George wakes up first, surprisingly. His face turns red as soon as he opens his eyes, seeing that him and Sapnap are so close. Sapnap has ended up in the middle of the bed with him on the right. He can't help but stare at him sleeping so peacefully.

'Wait why? No, look away,' George thinks as he tilts his head towards the ceiling. Sapnap wakes up as if he hears George's thoughts stirring but it's probably from the rapid movement in the bed when George looks away.

He yawns, "morning."

"Morning, how are you feeling?" George asks kindly, also trying to keep his previous thoughts away.

Sapnap seems to realise the same thing, the distance is bit too close than they're used to. Though George did have to deal with that almost all night, "um my head hurts and I'm a little confused, how did you end up in my bed exactly?"

"You didn't want me to leave, I- I'm sorry, I should have just left. I'll go," he knew this was a bad idea, he knew Sapnap would be completely different when he woke up but of course drunk Sapnap wouldn't let him go. George pushes the blankets off, beginning to leave the awkwardness of this situation, when Sapnap swiftly grips onto George's arm. This action causes George to glance back at the hold Sapnap has on him, "no- no, it's okay. I'm glad that you stayed," the way he quickly says this, lets go of his arm and supplies a genuine soft smile, makes George's stomach flip. 'Why did he have to say it like that?! Why am I feeling this way?!'

Sapnap questions what happened the night before, George tells him about how drunk him and Dream were, he goes over every detail that he himself can remember. He talks about the car ride home and how Sapnap wanted him to carry him inside. He's confused on why he called the carrying position koala bear, and George agrees strongly, then looks at the minimum amount of light coming from the curtains, "but um yeah that's basically it."

"There's something you're not telling me," he hesitates in a doubtful tone.

"What? No, I think that's it," George faces the confused man but his eyes still shift around the other features of his face. Everywhere but his bewildering blue eyes.

"No, you're lying. You're not looking me in the eyes, you do that when you're lying," Sapnap argues confidently.

"I-" he begins to disagree but focuses on the wall behind Sapnap and loses his ability to testify against Sapnap's claim. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"See! You did it again," Sapnap exclaims and also rapidly says, "George please, I wanna know. I promise I won't judge or get upset or anything. I promise."

"It's just that," George turns his whole body so he's fully facing Sapnap, he feels nervous as he attempts to tell him the secret he was keeping, "I liked it- carrying you. It was- it felt-" he cuts himself off, being frustrated that he can't find the right word to describe the way he was feeling yesterday.

"Safe?" Sapnap questions, George nods, "yeah, safe."

This time, it's not George who looks away and there's a suspenseful silence, "that's what I feel when I'm around you."

"What do you mean by that?" George asks nervously.

"Like right now," his volume lowers. "You being here with me, it makes me feel safe and happy."

George hasn't broken the eye contact since Sapnap glanced back at his eyes, this changes when he notices Sapnap's eyes flicker down.

"I don't really know how to explain it but I feel better when I'm around you George," George's tummy flips around again when Sapnap moves closer to him. Sapnap's eyes keeps shifting from George's lips to his eyes, until their lips are almost touching. The brunette freezes, having so many things to say and so little time to actually form the words. Lips brush lightly over George's which sends shivers down his spine. He only slightly feels his lips against his own, he grins softly and impatiently asks, "could you kiss me already?"

"Yessir," Sapnap snickers before leaning all the way in, pressing their lips together. It's gentle at first, passionate. Then hands are cupping George's face without warning, pulling him closer but the brunette doesn't seem to mind, he just copies the same action to around the back of the other's neck and deepens the kiss. George's mind is sending out signals of love, he knows this is right, having him in this way. The part he was missing, him.

They break the kiss to stare into each other's light lustful eyes, then Sapnap pushes him, so that he falls on his back gently. Sapnap uses this to his advantage and climbs on top of him, lying his body on top of his after checking for any signs of discomfort from George. Every part of him seems to lock into George, like Sapnap is the puzzle piece that always goes missing from the puzzle box. A trail of soft kisses spread from the corner of George's mouth to the crook of his neck, George smiles before pulling his head back in for a kiss, this ends up with him rolling Sapnap over so that George is on top.

"How's your head?" He asks, letting them both take a breath.

"It was worse when I woke up," Sapnap answers, softly rubbing his arms faintly up and down.

"So this-" he kisses him quickly. "Helped?"

He nods his head, "like I said, you make me feel safe."

"Well," George smiles playfully, lifting himself off of Sapnap and his bed altogether, "maybe we should try it again sometime."

"I didn't realise we were done."

George giggles, "come on, I'll make everyone breakfast."

Sapnap sighs but gets up and follows George into the kitchen, he wraps his arms at the top of his belly and tucks his head over his shoulder, "can't we just go back to bed?"

"The bed can wait," a quiet chuckle leaves the brunette when Sapnap groans, "can you go see if Dream's okay?"

"Fine," he lets his arms fall but keeps his head on his shoulder for a second longer to kiss under his cheek, "I'll accept defeat on this one."

Sapnap wakes Dream up, which results in a pillow being thrown at Sapnap's head. He returns to George and attempts to get him to go back to bed again but he shuts him down again and asks him to help cook. Once they finish cooking, Dream has finally made it out of his room, he takes two pills for the apparently booming headache he has and sits down at the table with his head in his hands.

They serve the food, which is pancakes, bacon and eggs, and sit down too.

"You good Dreamy?" Sapnap asks since he's still in the same position he was in when he first sat down.

"No, I have a headache Sapnap, I told you," he replies annoyed.

"Aren't you glad that I'm a good sober driver and drove you home early?" George smiles, finishing his first pancake. And to his surprise, Dream smiles back and thanks him.

"Look about what you told me last night-" George began, he doesn't know why he brings it up, then Dream nervously interrupts, "what did I tell you?"

"Oh um, I don't think I should say, it's kind of personal," he explains, respectfully keeping Dream's personal business private.

"I told you about my dating problem, didn't I?" He questions, with an embarrassed look on his face. George nods once. "I don't mind if Sapnap knows, as long as he doesn't bully me with it."

"What problem? How come I'm always the last to know?!"

"Well, you were drunk last night," George mumbles, then thinks to grab Sapnap's hand from under the table. "Anyway, all I wanted to say was that you don't need to look for someone because the right person, the person that will say yes, will find you."

"When did you get so inspirational?" he asks.

He gently squeezes his hand before replying, "I don't think there was a specific time."

Dream isn't paying attention but Sapnap is smiling like crazy. Their hands stay intertwined for the whole of breakfast. They move on from the topic of Dream's dating life and start talking about what they're going to do today. George suggests they have the whole of today to celebrate Sapnap's birthday again, Dream instantly says no but George promises no alcohol this time, which is why he thinks they should celebrate it again. They probably don't remember much of yesterday anyway. They all agree but there is one problem that George is sure Sapnap is also thinking about. Can they keep their hands off of each other for a whole day? Surely, but George knows that this new whatever it is, is much too new not to. He squeezes his hand to grab his attention, and points his head in the direction of the tall man that is still holding his head in pain.

"Hey Dream," Sapnap says, alerting the room of what is about to happen. "What would you do if you lived with a couple?"

Dream pokes his head up from staring at his food, "I don't know, I guess I would feel a little left out but I think it depends on who the couple would be. I'd probably hang out with you guys a lot more then be at home though."

George chuckles a little, which Dream mimics, "what's so funny?" Also why would I be living with a couple when I'm living with you guy-" he cuts himself off with a quiet gasp, "you two- are you?"

"We could be," he shrugs with a small smile.

"What?!" Dream exaggerates his question, "I mean I was only kidding last night but you actually like him?!"

Both Sapnap and George start laughing at Dream's confusion. Dream wants to ask them to prove it but also doesn't want to pressure them so he just leaves that conversation as that. Dream helps George do the dishes because Sapnap helped cook. George questions Dream about what other things Sapnap likes to do, so they can all do that today. Dream suggests Disney World, which he knows Dream mostly loves but he adds it to the list anyway. They all go shopping first and much to Sapnap's disapproval, George pays for everything he wants to buy. Dream managed to bribe him to buy the Disney World tickets. It seemed like Dream was completely okay with being around a couple, he just stuck with himself if George started talking Sapnap or if it was the other way around. He also got very cheery when they actually arrived at his suggestion.

When they return home, Dream and his collection of prizes run off to his room, leaving George and Sapnap to carry the rest of the stuff inside. They go to bed early since they had a very big day. George is lying in Sapnap's bed again, he's snuggling up to Sapnap, holding hands and wrapping their legs around each other.

"Hey Sapnap?" He asks through a whisper.

Sapnap acknowledges him with a small hum. So George continues the rest of his question, "are we a couple?"

He sits back a bit and rubs the side of my face, "if you want to be, then yeah."

"Do you want to be?" he emphasizes the 'you' because he wants him to be okay with it too.

"I do," Sapnap replies before resting his head against George's, their lips connect sweetly for a second and George grins, "me too."

George falls asleep with one thing on his mind, 'He's mine now, my missing puzzle piece.'

Notes:

Thanks for reading all the way to the end, it means a lot. I hope you enjoyed! If I've made a mistake or if you have any feedback, I would love to hear it. Just don't rude about it :)

I don't know if I've said this but please tell me if any person that I write about is uncomfortable with people writing about them. Dream and George have said they are okay with it and I'm pretty sure Sapnap is too (correct me if I'm wrong). I will take it down if anyone is uncomfortable.
