Chapter Text
The first prank MC and Satan did was on Mammon when he came home from school. Satan said it was because he was the most annoying although MC didn't really understand what about Mammon was annoying; he was fun! Honestly MC did feel kind of bad about tricking him but it had been hilarious to watch the 2nd eldest find a decent pile of grimm only to realize the coins were those fake chocolate ones. Mammons face going from excited and giddy to confusion when one of them began to melt, then to outrage and sorrow when he realized he had been duped had moth giggling and squealing as they ran away with Satan. Plus when Mammon realized that MC was part of the little prank they swore he was trying to hide a smile.
the difficult thing about setting up the whole thing was keeping Beel away long enough for Mammon to stumble upon the suspicious pile of shiny gold foil wrapped sweets. the poor guy looked like a kicked puppy and only left when MC and Satan allowed him to take a few. MC managed to sneak one for Belphie later knowing that he must be really lonely up there, he deserved a little treat!
when MC fumbled up the stairs again the cow themed demon was already waiting by the door. "back so soon twerp?" he asked through a soft yawn.
"mmhm! i has a pesent for you!" MC declared digging in their pocket and procuring the chocolate. "today me n' satan twicked mama with fake moneys but its really choc... choc-o-late." they sounded out the difficult word while kneeling on the floor and slid the little round coin through one of the many openings in the door. MC didn't get the reason for a door with a bunch of holes in it, it was pretty yes but it didnt really do the things a normal door was supposed to.
"and you're giving me one?" he asked looking at it with a small frown.
"yeah, cuz you didn't get to hewp and you're lonely so i wanted to cheer you up!"
Belphegor sighed softly and took the chocolate coin. "thanks." he said. he had to admit he didn't expect this little human to do pranks much less with satans grumpiness but it seemed even for a human MC was decent at worming their way into his brothers lives. he popped the small sweet into his mouth and looked at the pudgy kid for a few minutes. "you gave me the treat so why are you still here?" he asked.
MC tilted their head a bit "i already told you, you're lonely right? when i was left all alone i wanted was someone to pway with... or talk to." Mc messed with the velcro on their shoes "so I had the idea that I'd talk and pway with you too!"
ugh this kid... their kindess was enough to make him sick. he resisted the urge to make a face or growl. He would never admit it but Belphegor was kind of lonely... he missed beel so bad. "whatever kid... anyways how are the... friendship marks coming along?"
"Oh uh... i dunno they show up on my back so i cant see them, an' i dont feel them can you check?" They asked getting up and turning as they clumsily began to lift their shirt to show the other. Belphegor almost choked on his spit when he saw Satans pact mark right below Asmos. Holy shit! Mc actually managed to get Satans mark?! "well? what do you see?" they asked snapping him out of his shock.
"you uh... you got 3 twerp, good job." he said before clearing his throat. "listen, uh.. the next is my brother beel." he said as MC turned around with a giant smile happy for another mark. "he's gunna be a bit difficult, you have to earn his trust for him to give you a mark okay? but you cannot under ANY circumstances tell him that you know where i am okay?"
"why not?"
"because if he knows then he'll get really mad and might get in real big trouble okay? can you promise you wont tell him?"
"okay i pwomise, no telling beel."
"okay, good. work on him next and we'll worry about lucifer later. he's going to be the hardest one to get a mark from. now go on to bed its getting late and we dont want you getting found out."
MC scrambled up and nodded giving a quiet goodbye before making their way back down the stairs. unfortunately when they got to the bottom of the steps they were met with an unamused looking Lucifer. MC froze and just kind of stared at him while Lucifer looked down at them, raising a brow and crossing his arms.
"I thought i told you not to go up the attic stairs MC." He said his voice hard.
"i-i... uhm..." Mc could only focus on how tall Lucifer was right now, how scary he looked with his glowing red eyes and how he loomed over them. they were in trouble. they messed up and they were in big trouble! tears pricked MCs eyes as they held onto their stuffed shark tightly their hands beginning to tremble.
"There is nothing for you up there as I am sure you found out. I told you not to go up there for your safety, there are many things in the attic that can hurt you."
"m's-sowwy..." they mumbled looking down at the floor as their lip quivered. they hoped their punishment wasn't too bad. they heard Lucifers disappointed sigh and looked up through their lashes to see an outstretched hand. MCs breath hitched and they flinched back squeezing their eyes shut as they prepared for a hit.
Lucifer had been disappointed yes but he couldn't really blame a 3 year old for not listening. when he reached out to pick MC up he saw their flinch and his stomach dropped. right... this human had been abused. of course they would think he was going to hit them. with a deep breath Lucifer just gently picked them up. he didn't mean to scare them but at the same time they had to learn that they needed to listen. "easy MC, it's okay." he said as he gently reached one of is gloved hands up to wipe at the tears that began to slip down their reddening cheeks. "I am not angry at you, nor will i be laying a hand on you like your previous guardians have. no need for tears now little lamb."
MC sniffled and tried to stop their shaking as Lucifer tried his best to gently soothe them. "i s-sowwy... i-" they hiccuped a little as more tears fell down their cheeks.
"I know little lamb I know. you know what you did wrong and you apologized for it so you are forgiven. lets get you some warm milk and honey hm?" He asked already taking long strides down the hallway towards the kitchen.
"not mad?" they asked softly as they rested their head on Lucifers shoulder.
"no, i am not mad. disappointed you did not listen yes, but not mad. you are still a child and have much to learn, i cannot fault you for your curiosity. no more going into the attic yes?"
Mc nodded softly despite feeling the churning anxiety in their stomach knowing they were actively lying to Lucifer. They didn't like lying, lying was bad... but belphie needed help, and helping was more important than not lying. helping would always be more important.
