Work Text:

Sometimes when class gets boring, a certain raven-haired girl would shout out random words or phrases to entertain her classmates. Though it got her in trouble, Mioda only cared about making the class more fun and making her classmates laugh. She’d been suspended a few times for the disturbances, but the school couldn’t afford to lose her, the Super High School Level Light Music Club Member.

Though the school was for elites, that didn’t mean they didn’t have rules. Sure, some were pretty basic, “Don’t treat the staff or other students with disrespect,” “Don’t use violence against the staff or other students,” “Don’t use your talent against others,” and so on and so forth. Everyone obeyed these rules the best they could, (Saionji being the only one they know of that treats any student like garbage, especially Tsumiki, the poor thing.) Mioda followed most of the rules as well, only breaking a few under the school's noses.

Class had ended 5 minutes ago, and Mioda was jogging to keep up with her fast friends, who were too busy talking to each other to notice Mioda catching up.

“Hiyoko-chan! Mahiru-chan! Wait for Ibuki!!!” The raven girl exclaimed, running toward the two. Saionji groaned dramatically, flopping her arms down to her sides and tilting her head back a painful amount.

“Get away from us you idiot! And how many times do I have to tell you, we are NOT on a first name basis!” Saionji then grabbed Koizumi’s arm and started walking faster. “C’mon Big sis Mahiru...”

Koizumi exclaimed in surprise and turned to look back at Mioda.

“Sorry Mioda-san! I’ll talk to you later!” She turned back around and quietly scolded Saionji.

Mioda sighed, she had stopped jogging a little bit ago, hearing that Saionji didn’t want to hang around her right now. She turned from her spot and started walking -no- skipping to the fountain where Nanami sat, playing on her switch as per usual. Ibuki skipped over giddily and hugged Nanami, which barely fazed the gamer.

“Hey Chiaki-chan~! Ibuki came to see you~!” Ibuki said sweetly, still holding onto Nanami. The pale girl smiled.

“Hey Ibuki-san, how’re you?” Nanami hadn’t looked up from her game, she just smiled and blushed lightly. Ibuki let go of Nanami and sat next to her, swinging her legs back and forth against the concrete of the fountain.

“Ibuki is doing amazing now that she’s with Chiaki-chan~! How is Chiaki-chan doing?” The gamer paused her game and looked at Ibuki, her face tinted pink.

“I’ve been fine, I beat Zelda again, for the like, 50th time,” Both Mioda and Nanami giggled. “I’m glad I made your day, Ibuki-san.” Mioda hugged Nanami from the side, squeezing her tight.

“Chiaki-chan always makes Ibuki happy! Even when she’s not next to Ibuki!” Nanami’s face seemed to get brighter, going from pink to a light red.

“Ah- uh- thanks Ibuki-san,” Mioda only smiled, and squeezed Nanami tighter. The musician then let go and stood up, secretly slipping a ticket in Nanami’s coat pocket. Nanami looked confused at the sudden lack of contact, her eyebrows furrowed. “Where are you going Ibuki?” Mioda smiled and began walking.

“Ibuki has a show! Ibuki will see ya there Chiaki-chan~!” The musician then ran off to, from what Nanami thought by the direction she was running in, either the gym or the music room. She sighed and unpaused her game, and played till the sun fell.

Once Nanami noticed the stars making their way to the sky, she saved her game and put it in her book bag. When she sat up, she noticed a small paper fall out of her jacket pocket. The gamer leaned down and picked it up, looking at it quizzically.

‘What’s this?’ She thought, examining it. Nanami’s eyes widened as she noticed the name immediately.

“Mioda, Ibuki. Performing in Hope's Peak Academy’s very own Light Music Club Room! The performance will be from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm! We hope to see you there!”

Nanami scrambled to check the time on her phone, almost dropping the ticket in a puddle.

“Dammit! Ah!” She fumbled with her phone and the ticket in her hands, before slipping the ticket back in her pocket. She sighed and turned her phone on, checking the time.

“9:25?!” Nanami turned her phone back off before dashing to the music room.

She knew she was going to be late, since she wasn’t very athletic, since she sat and played video games for several hours on end. But to her surprise, the music room was completely empty. Nanami looked around the room completely shocked, she stared as she saw no one sitting or standing anywhere. Was she at the right place? She pulled out the ticket and looked at it again. No, it said the music room. Where was everyone?

“Chiaki-chan~! You made it~! Ibuki is happy to see you!” Nanami whipped around and came face to face with none other than Mioda, Ibuki herself. The gamer gulped back her heart that had seemingly jumped into her throat.

“Ibuki-san? Where is everyone else?” Mioda only giggled, much to Nanami’s confusion. “Is there something I’m missing?”

“This is a show only for you, Chiaki! Did Ibuki not mention that earlier?” Nanami shook her head slowly.

“You ready Chiaki-chan?!” Mioda jumped onto the stage and picked up her electric guitar. “This first song is called, “The Sweet Gamer Girl Who Stole My Bitter Heart!” It’s inspired by you, Chiaki-chan~!” Nanami blushed a deep red, trying to process the song title.

“5! 4! 3! 2! 1!” Mioda called out before letting out an ear splitting scream and strum of her guitar. Nanami winced but didn’t cover her ears, she sat there the entire song and listened to every word that was screamed out of the musician’s mouth.

By the end of the performance, Nanami was sure she was partially deaf, but that was the least of her problems right now. Mioda had put herself out there and confessed to the gamer. It was a unique way, sure, but Nanami wasn’t complaining. It was just so…Mioda. She loved it.

Mioda hopped off the stage, out of breath and sweaty. “Did….did Chiaki-chan like it...?” Nanami nodded and walked to the raven-haired girl.

“I love it, Ibuki-san!” Mioda beamed at that, she hugged the gamer tightly. Nanami’s instant reaction was to hug back, so she did.

“Will Chiaki-chan be Ibuki’s girlfriend?” Mioda asked suddenly. The gamer pulled back and looked at Mioda. Panic instantly went through Mioda’s eyes. “O-Or, you don’t have to! Chiaki-chan doesn’t need to accept Ibuki’s confession, i-it was just a song-” Nanami then kissed Mioda’s cheek.

“Of course I accept your confession, Ibuki.” The musician beamed again, probably even more than the first time.

“Does this mean Chiaki-chan will be Ibuki’s girlfriend?!” Mioda exclaimed, her eyes wide and curious, almost like a kitten. Nanami smiled and blushed lightly.

“Yeah, sure, I’ll be your girlfriend.” Nanami smiled softly at Mioda, and pulled away from their hug again. “But you need to take me on an actual date, okay?” Mioda nodded instantly.

“Will do! Ibuki will make it the best first date ever!”

And with that, the two sat in the music room until the school kicked them out, much to their dismay.

Notes:

Should I make another story where they go on their first date? Like a part 2 or a sequel?
