"Hey guys, check this out! I got this new water thing. It's apparently thick kinda like jello I guess?" One of Izuku's classmates walked into the dorms holding a plastic bag. They grabbed out a bottle, then a second one. They set both bottles on a table near the kitchen.
It peaked his interest, he sauntered over to his huddled class.
"I got two bottles so we could all try it!"
One of the bottle made its way around one way, and the other was cracked open and passed around the other way.
"Oh that's kind of weird! Not sure if I like it," one classmate said somewhere to the left of him.
"Yeah. It's definitely interesting!"
"If none of you want any of it after everyone's done, I'll take it!"
There was a variety of responses to the strange half-liquid.
When Izuku got the bottle, he looked at it hesitantly, he wasn't sure what he thought about it, it reminded him of something. He couldn't put his finger on it.
He brought the bottle to his mouth and let the water slide in.
'Oh.' That's where he recognized it from. He felt the sludge on his tongue, down his throat. He started to hyperventilate.
He dropped the bottle.
"Deku?"
"Midoriya are you okay?"
He felt the villain encasing his body in sludge. He couldn't see. He heard the villains voice.
'A perfect sized invisibility cloak!'
'nononononono' He clawed at his mouth trying to get it away.
"Someone get Aizawa Sensei!"
They were frantically trying to get him to calm down. People were running around.
'It'll only take a second.'
It didn't it felt like forever. He could still feel it in his mouth, burning his nose. It was down his throat.
"Breathe with me Midoriya, in and out slowly."
Nobody's words seemed to reach him.
He couldn't breathe.
He cried as he vomited his own stomach acid onto the floor. It was in his lungs, the sludge was in his lungs. He could feel it fill up his body.
He couldn't get it off. He couldn't get it out. He barely remembered what the villain had said to him before he passed out in the attack.
"Everyone back away and go to your rooms. I will handle this."
Someone touched him, put their hands on his shoulders.
"Midoriya you're having a panic attack. You're okay I promise, you're at UA, in the dorms. You're safe. Whatever is going on in the mind of yours isn't here. I want you to take a deep breath."
Izuku was shaking on the ground. His heart rate was through the roof. His breath was shakey and uneven.
"Midoriya look at me," he tried, he really did.
He couldn't look his teacher in the eye right now. He felt embarrassed, a sour smell hit his nose and he scrunched his face.
"Can you talk right now?" Aizawa's voice was calming.
He shook his head. He felt that if he opened his mouth, sludge would inch it's way back into his mouth. He shivered.
"Okay I'm going to have you point then, is that alright?" Izuku nodded, he was confused but nodded.
"Good good, can you point out four things you can see for me?"
Aizawa had let him go by this time. He looked around him.
He pointed at the teacher in front of him. Looked again, and pointed at the horrible bottle of thick water.
'Two more, come on Izuku, you can do this.'
He saw a face peering around the corner, he pointed to whoever it was watching them.
'Purple hair. Doesn't look like Jirou or Mineta. Is that Shinsou? Why is he here?'
He looked at the ground and immediately found the source of the smell. He pointed to the puddle of vomit on the floor. He felt ashamed. He didn't mean too. He didn't even remember that happening.
"Don't worry about that, we'll have someone get that cleaned up. Now can you point to three things that you hear?" Izuku nodded again.
He immediately pointed at Aizawa, then to his stomach, which had just made a noise. He was hungry.
He heard Shinsou sneeze and pointed to him again.
'Why is he still here?'
"Good, now how about two things you can feel?"
He felt the carpet beneath him and pointed, he's lucky he missed the carpet and just hit the tile in the kitchen.
He felt something heavy on his shoulders and found Aizawa's scarf on him. He felt the fabric. It was a good combination of rough and soft. He pointed to it.
Aizawa smiled. "Okay good, last one. Can you point to one thing you smell?"
Izuku nodded and wiped his eyes. This one was easy.
He pointed to the puddle that lay on the floor.
"Yeah I smell that too," Aizawa chuckled.
"So-rry." His apology came out rough and broken.
Shinsou, who was still in hiding, shifted his weight and stepped onto a creaky floor board.
"Shinsou could you wait outside please?"
They heard the door open and close a second later.
"It's okay kid, no need to apologize now. Do you think you could tell me what happened?"
Izuku was silent for a few seconds debating on whether or not he should tell him. I mean he was just overreacting wasn't he? He looked up and saw concern in his teachers eyes.
He nodded slowly and took in a deep breath, he could still taste the tang of the vomit on his tongue.
"Um, ba-back when I was still in middle school. Well you-you know how Kacchan was attacked by the s-sludge villain? It was on the news. The ki-kid that ran out was me then All Might came. But you already knew most of. But anyways. I was at-ttacked by that villain not long before that. I ended up passing out at some point. It was- it was pretty horrible. Their entire body was just sludge and they... there was sludge surrounding my body, in-in my nose an-and down my throat. I couldn't breath and I could feel it in my lungs and my stomach." He felt like he was going to be sick again.
"Breathe Midoriya, take a deep breath. You're safe here, and that villain in prison, I promise."
"I-I know it's just... I thought I was over this by now but apparently not. And it's embarrassing."
"I promise you it's nothing to be ashamed of. All of the teachers, including myself, have bad days like the one you're having today. With all of the messed up stuff we have to deal with and all off the horrible horrible people we have to witness, it's hard not to have days like this. You're not alone in this."
Izuku smiled sadly at Aizawa.
