Work Text:

Dream hadn’t let himself slip fully into little space for some time now and the stress was really getting to him.

It’d been three weeks since George had moved in and Dream was quite nervous about George finding out before he was ready for him to.

There’d been a lot of drama on twitter as of late and it kept distracting him from his editing, taking away all of his motivation and will to do it. He’d promised fans he’d get the video out by the end of the month, just two days away. Now, he could’ve asked George for some help with the video, but he was too stubborn to do so. Besides, George was busy with important streams, recordings, and editing of his own.

Just the thought of asking for help pushed Dream closer to slipping. He continued on with editing though, going for hours straight without food or water.

Dream only noticed just how long he’d been editing when his head started to hurt from the bright light of his monitor in his pitch black room. The only other lightsource was a small nightlight on his nightstand behind him.

The throbbing pain only nudged him closer and closer with each beat.

Then he started crying.

He was officially fully into littlespace, everything hurt, his head, his heart, even his fingers and toes. Everything was uncomfortable and itchy, only causing him to cry harder and more violently.

George heard the commotion upon leaving his room for a snack. He rushed to the room down the hall, quickly pushing the door open, worried something bad had caused the crying fit.

George spins Dream’s desk chair completely around towards him, “Dream, hey, are you okay? Did something happen?” George asks as calmly as he can.

Dream’s lip just trembles as he continues to cry.

George crouches down on the ground, resting his hand on Dream’s knee, “Hey, take some deep breaths with me, okay Clay?”

Dream nods shakily, taking George’s hand into both of his own.

“Okay, breathe in with me,” George instructs, breathing in, “Now hold it. And now breathe out.”

Dream does as he’s told, repeating the process a few times before his finally able to calm down.

“Good job Clay, now can you tell me what’s wrong?” George looks up at him patiently, waiting for his response.

“Evey ting lately stress me out,” Dream frowns looking into his lap, trying to hold back more tears.

“Can I ask you another question?”

Dream nods.

“You’re acting and speaking a little bit... differently than usual. Can you tell me why?” George asks lightly, trying not to upset Dream.

“You’re gonna make fun me if I tell,” Dream says shakily.

“I promise you I wont pick fun at you or be mean Dream, I just wanna know what’s going on right now,” George assures.

Dream takes a deep breath, turning around slightly and opening a drawer under his desk, taking a folded piece of paper from it.

“Here, read this,” Dream instructs.

“Oh, okay,” George smiles, slight confusion in his tone as he unfolds the paper.

Dear George,

If you’re reading this that means either A. I’m finally ready to tell you this, or B. I’m acting strange and have to tell you this. As you know, I get stressed out and especially upset at times. I found that, as a way to cope, I use this thing called ‘little space’. Basically, when I get stressed or upset, I shift into a younger state of mind. Sometimes at will, and others involuntarily. This is completely 100% just a way to cope with things. It’s not a kink or nsfw or anything of that sort. I act younger in pretty much all aspects, I’ll talk a bit differently, want childish things such as sippy cups and binkies, and even eat foods that a kid around 2-6 would want to eat. You don't have to do anything with this information but I would really love your help for when I'm ‘little’ or ‘small’ aka in a younger headspace. If you choose, I would very much appreciate it if you took on the role as ‘caregiver’ for whenever I get little. It’s nothing super intensive, just help me out when it’s difficult for me to care for myself. Get me a sippy cup, binky, and make sure I'm fed and such. This is all the information I can fit on here, if you have any questions and I’m big please just ask, if I'm small, bear with me? I’m sorry for dropping this all onto you.

-Clay

“Thank you so much for trusting me with this information Clay, I’d love to be your caregiver and help you out. I’ve actually read up on little space so I think I’m decently prepared to help you,” George smiles brightly.

Dream immediately engulfs him in a tight embrace, both of them now residing on the floor, tangled in each other's limbs.

“There's a note on back Gogy,” Dream informs.

George smiles at the nickname as he flips the paper over and reads the note.

P.S.

when i’m little I enjoy cute nicknames such as, bug, sweetheart, angel, and pretty much anything you’d call a small child.

“Okay bug, do you wanna get changed into some comfy clothes and watch a movie together on the couch?”

“Yes!” Dream exclaims happily at the usage of the name and the possibility of watching a movie.

“I thought you’d like that, do you wanna grab your sippy and or binky to bring to the living room, as well as any stuffies or things you may want?”

Dream nods, crawling and reaching back into his desk drawer for his things. He grabs a bright green baby bottle with little sharks on the outside of it as well as a bright green pacifier customised with his signature smile on it. It’s also a bit larger than a baby’s binky, suited better for Dream’s mouth.

Dream plops the pacy into his mouth, holding his sippy to his chest, big eyes staring expectantly at George.

“Oh! Comfy clothes, sorry sweetie,” George smiles, standing up and opening a few of Dream’s drawers.

He soon finds a pair of pajama bottoms, a nightmare before Christmas design on them. George then grabs a large smile hoodie from Dream’s door and hands both items to him.

“Do you uhm, want help or?” George asks hesitantly.

“Do m’self. Hold dis,” Dream says, handing his sippy to George. “Turn ‘round pease.”

George nods, doing so, “Okay, let me know when you’re done.”

After a few minutes of shuffling, Dream is fully dressed. He grabs an ender dragon plushie from under his bed before him and George head for the couch.

As the pair make their way to the living room, Dream grabs George’s hand in his own, swigging them happily as they walk.

Once they reach the couch, George sits Dream down with a fluffy blanket and sets him up with Disney .

“Here, you can pick out a movie while I fill your sippy cup, what would you like in it?” George asks.

“Jus’ water, make sure it cold! Can I has gold fish too?” Dream asks politely.

“Of course you can Pumpkin, I’ll be right back. Pick out anything you want to watch!” George smiles brightly.

George quickly goes to the kitchen, uncapping the cup and putting in a few ice cubes before filling it with water and re-capping it. He then grabs a bag of goldfish crackers before going back to the living room.

George returns to the couch, sitting beside Dream and handing him his cup and his snack.

“So what’d you decide to watch, Angel?” George asks, looking up at the TV.

“Lilo and Stitch! Movie silly and cute!” Dream smiles happily, frowning at his bag of goldfish before handing it back to George. “Open pleaseee.”

George does so, handing the goldfish back in return for the remote as he starts the movie, Dream automatically snuggling up to George.

The movie plays on nicely, Dream swiftly finishing his snack and sippy before putting his pacy back into his mouth.

George holds Dream close, rubbing soothing circles on the boy’s back before he drifts off into sleep. Soon, George does the same and falls asleep just before the movie finishes.
