故事发生在维罗纳名城 Two households, both alike in dignity

Yuna, Yuna had changed, Sakuya thought. Gone was the dutiful girl still clinging to her promise to be kind. Gone was that smile. Instead nowadays Yuna seemed tired, and when she wasn't exhausted she was on her legs ranting about Kamihaman Magical Girls, thieves, traitors and all. As Sakuya filled in her transfer form she wondered to herself- were they were going down the right path? War was a waste. She had lost enough friends during the Gang Wars- Yuna had lost more. Yet in spite of the losses, Yuna wanted to start another one. Another War. A War with girls whose only crimes was succeeding at saving themselves at the expense of others. Sakuya had never met a Kamihama Magical Girl, and the school excursions to Mizuna District did not last long enough to allow her a chance at befriending the locals. But she wondered, were they really that different? Kamihama and Futatsugi? If given the chance would Futatsugi not have done the same? Sakuya paused briefly, before she remembered her pledge to the Old Yuna, to be at her side, to follow her and never leave her like the others did. No, right or wrong. Yuna was her Leader and she would follow her orders. For Promised Blood she would fight.

"For the sake of Hinomoto?" Once Ryouko would have laughed at those words. A country which betrayed it's faithful servants was not worth fighting for. She would have not have died for the country that sent her mother to her death, nor for a Clan that claimed to be for the greater good of Japan yet sold miracles to the highest bidder. That was until she met Shizuka. A naive, gullible girl from the country, but an earnest one at that. While Ryouko did not share Shizuka's unquestionable love of country, she came to respect her. A Main Branch Leader who believed in working for the good of everyone in the nation and not just a few? She could get behind that. Plus Shizuka liked meat, anyone who liked meat was not a bad person in Ryouko’s eyes. For Shizuka of the Tokime Clan she would fight.

有两家门第相当的巨族 In fair Verona, where we lay our scene

Kamihaman Magical Girls may have been scum according to Yuna, Sakuya mused, but even she could not deny that the city deserved it’s title as a rising food capital. As she watered down her wagyu with a sip of tea she looked back on the past month since transfering to Kamihama Affiliated. She had joined the track team, got onto the starting side, and yet despite her fawners and admirers on the field and on the seats, Sakuya had not made many friends in Kamihama. But then again, she thought, she didn’t need that many.

"Mmm mmmm moarrr"

Sakuya grimaced as she watched her newfound friend scarf down her third plate of steak. Even she, athletic though she was, did not eat this much protein in a single meal.

"Yo--u mmm hafta ...eatzz more...it mm so good." Her ‘friend’ mumbled with a mouth full. Sakuya sighed, what an idiot. Then again, Natsu Ryouko was an idiot who declared her to be a good person on nothing more but how toned her legs were. She had no idea what Sakuya did, was forced to do, or even willingly did. Sakuya knew she wasn't a good person. Far from it.

"Don't talk with your mouth full or did the monks never teach you that?" Sakuya scolded Ryouko. A lecture promptly ignored as Ryouko continued stuffing herself mid-speech. Still, Sakuya considered, it was good to have met Ryouko. She was the one who opened her up, broke down her barriers, and helped her fit in on the track team. For that, she could be thankful. She knew she should not be getting close to others, she could not afford to lose them again. But when she was with Ryouko. When she was by this idiot's side, she felt at ease.

累世的宿怨激起了新争 From ancient grudge break to new mutiny

In a dimly-lit Mizuna sidestreet by the imposing Mizuna Castle, Sakuya met Ryouko. Sakuya had found out Ryouko was a Tokime, and she knew what this meant.

"We can't be together...you know that...don't you?" Sakuya asked, her heart breaking with every word. After opening up again to someone, she was pushing them away.

"It's for the best you know, it's for the best. She's a Tokime. You're enemies. She's with Union. You're enemies" Sakuya told herself but in the back of her mind she heard another nagging voice. Why can't Tokime and Futatsugi be friends? Why can't they be more than that? Why can't I love someone because of some stupid war? Why am I still listening to Yuna? Why?

Tears began forming in her eyes and she felt her soul gem darken as her heart broke, shattered and broke again. Then, then Sakuya felt her back pushed against the wall. Glancing, she saw Ryouko trapped her escape route with her right arm and her face was close. Very close. The gap closed and Sakuya felt Ryouko's warm lips on hers. She closed her eyes and embraced it. The safeness, the security, the warmth. And as suddenly as it began, it ended with Ryouko pulling back.

"We'll be together." Ryouko replied with a grin, as if she was answering all of Sakuya's uncertain questions with a certain answer. "Even if we have to wait for the next life."

Smiling, the two of them turned their backs and walked the opposite way. They entered that alley as friends, became more than that for a minute and left as enemies.

鲜血把市民的白手污渎 Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

"Ao..are you okay? Can I come in?"

Sakuya knocked on the metal door to the room where Ao had locked herself in. She asked to be let in, to give Ao someone to cry upon but she knew she had nothing to say. What was a killer like her suppose to say? That it gets easier? That you can forget the pain with time? But she knew she had to be the one there for Ao. Juri and Yuna were no use. They were celebrating, outright jeering Ao killed a Union Magical Girl. Like she had win some kind of sick lottery prize. So Sakuya kept knocking, knowing that the fact Ao was crying was some small measure of comfort. At least it meant Ao was still alive and hadn't taken her life.

The news of Ryou Midori's death did not effect Ryouko too much. She barely knew any Kamihaman Magical Girls but having a name to the dead still added some impact. She was thankful at least, that from all the accounts she heard, Sakuya was not the killer. But it was no comfort. She knew the day was coming when they two of them would meet on the battlefield. She entered the main hall of the Temple, one adorn with dozens of statues and filled with the scent of incense. Ryouko bowed to the head priest before lighting an incense, a single incense in memory of Ryou Midori.

是命运注定这两家仇敌 From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

Ramrod and eyes straight, Sakuya listened to Yuna's speech. It was the day of the Final Battle. The Last Fight for Kamihama. She prayed Ryouko would not be there.

The Final Battle with Promised Blood. The Day was here. Union had requested the renewal of their alliance for this one battle, and Shizuka acceded. Ryouko laid still as she meditated, clearing her thoughts as best she could before the final battle like a Samurai following his Lord to war would have done in bygone days. But she was distracted. Thoughts of Sakuya kept coming to her mind, and she wondered if they would face on the battlefield. And if they did? What would Ryouko do? Her Lord? Or her Beloved? Ryouko gave up, she would not be able to relax tonight. Instead she did what she knew would help. She walked to the hall and lit five incense candle and one, one just for Sakuya.

生下了一双不幸的恋人 A pair of star-crossed lovers take their lives

Standing amongst the rubbles of a ruined construction site, Ryouko and Sakuya huffed. It was a long battle, and they are promised each other that they would both give their all for the Leader they believed in. It would be a disrespect to the each other to have done anything less.

The two straightened and lunged. Ryouko gave one final silent prayer- that they would be together in the next life.

Two gems, Garnet and Teal, shattered at the same time.

他们的悲惨凄凉的陨灭 Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Yuna was inconsolable as she sobbed over the prone body of Sakuya, one of her last friends and her second most trusted lieutenant. And deep down she knew, she had done this. She had done it. She had killed Sakuya. If she hadn't started this War, Sakuya would still be here. With her by her side. She had plunged the knife into Sakuya's heart and twisted it. She pulled Sakuya's body closer and howled in grief. Another name was added to the list of friends she would never see again.

The Tokime Clan was in mourning. Mourning over their lost friend, and distant relative. Tears dripped from their faces onto Ryouko's sheets. Worst of all was knowing that if they had been there sooner Ryouko could have lived, but they were too late. "She died for the sake of Hinomoto, she died for the sake of Hinomoto" Shizuka muttered to herself, a comforting lie to dab away the tears. A lie of little use as the droplets continued welling in her eyes. The Leader of the Tokime Clan joined the rest of her retainers in grief.

和解了他们交恶的尊亲 Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.

Yuna waved Iroha off as she stepped onto the next train bound for Kamihama. She would not forget Sakuya, she could not take back what had happened but, the least she could do in her memory was make sure none of her friends die again. And this time, she would make Futatsugi a better place by doing what she should have done from the beginning. Working together with Iroha to expand the barrier not fight a bloody war over the shared salvation of ALL Magical Girls.

As she walked down the stairs she saw Shizuka Tokime. Their eyes met. Yuna walked up to Shizuka and held out her hand. A minute past, maybe two. And then Shizuka took that hand and shook it. Yuna's glum mouth curled into a smile.

For the first time, in a long time, Yuna felt hopeful.
