Chapter Text
As Louis looked over into his bedroom mirror to check his outfit again and to see if everything was looking good he tried to tell himself that he shouldn’t be nervous- there wasn’t any good reason to be.
Yes, he would be meeting whoever this person was that had been sitting with him on top of the roof for countless nights but it really wasn’t a real reason why Louis should be as nervous as he is- it kind felt like he was going on the first date all over again expect that Louis didn’t do that anymore and that this also definitely wasn’t a date anymore. It was just a nice meeting between two strangers who had been sharing intimate moments with each other on top of the roof.
But still, before Louis finally left his flat and went down the stairs to the opposite building he checked his looks one last time. He wasn’t too sure if he actually made the right choice on what to wear but now it was definitely too late. There wasn’t a set time given when they were expecting him to come around but Louis wanted to do his best and stick to the usual times where they would meet on top of the roof. One look at his watch told Louis that for that time he would already be too late.
As Louis pulled his front door open- already slightly out of breath- he realized that he still hadn’t thought about how he was going to find which fault was theirs. And they also hadn’t left him anything on the sticky note about it. Only slowly Louis made his way over the street to the other building until he was standing in front of the doorbells and before he could worry any further he saw that there was a pink sticky note in front of the arrow- that kinda just looked like the last one he had gotten- was taped to one of the signs with a big “here” on it.
Carefully Louis peeled the sticky note off the bell and pressed it down for a few seconds until he figured that they must have heard him by now.
As Louis was waiting in front of the door, waiting for somebody to buzz him into the building he looked up to the top, trying to guess which flat was there. In the lowest flat that was right to Louis’ left he could hear somebody practicing their Violin and a man softly singing along with it. The windows to the flat on the other side were closed but behind the windows the light was one and Louis could see a woman in the shadows, wildly gesturing around with her hands.
Deep into his thought Louis nearly missed the small buzz from the door but he pushed it open at the last minute and stepped into the foyer of the building. It wasn’t all too big and mostly there were just the stairs that were leading up to the different flats but Louis could already feel the heat difference outside. Since the other flat wasn’t too far from his own and Louis didn’t expect that he would be spending much time outside he just simply didn’t bring a jacket with him but even in the warmth of the building his hands were still cold.
Louis shaked his head, it was so typical of him. He knew that he got cold easily and that it was wiser to bring a layer more than a layer less but with all the worries he had about his outfit he forgot to think about it, so now he would have to suck it up.
Instead of further going down that thought Louis went up the stairs- they surely were waiting for him and maybe, through a bit of walking his hands would get a little bit warmer.
Louis didn’t even remember that walking up the stairs was exhausting as it’s turning out to be- not even one flight up and he was already out of breath but he also couldn’t take the elevator since he didn’t know on what floor their flat was and he didn’t want to miss it. So the stairs it was.
Luckily though, when Louis reached the third floor, panting, he saw the open door that would probably be his saving. Leaning against the door frame and looking sideways, he let out a tentative “Hello?” since nobody seemed to be inside.
“Yes, sorry-” A whirlwind of human beings appeared in front of him, smiling at him, “Hey, are you…” He awkwardly pointed to the ceiling, “Rooftop dude,” The dude shrugged his shoulders.
Louis just nodded, because while this seemed to be the flat that he was looking for, this dude absolutely didn’t look like whoever Louis had seen on top of the roof day after day- wait, Louis' brain tried to keep up. It definitely wasn’t his mysterious stranger up it seemed like he was the one that had been on the roof that one night, where he was so sure that it wasn’t the usual stranger but somebody else.
“But you are the wrong stranger,” Louis let out and wrinkled his forehead.
“I-” Feathery brown hair, as Louis decided to name him for now, that he was also beautiful, his hair was looking so soft and his eyes were a warm blue did not matter to Louis, let out a chuckle, “Yeah I’m not the ‘right one’” He drew quotation marks into the air.
“So where is the ‘right’ one,” Louis crosses his arms.
“Wanna come inside? I can explain it there when your right one- Zayn is also there,” Invitingly feathery brown hair dude held the door open, inviting Louis inside, but Louis was too sceptical to actually take the step inside, for now he prefered standing outside their door, where he could still pretend that if he turned out to be a murderer or something he could still get into safety.
“No, I do not trust you yet. I will come inside after you explain to me what is going on here,” Louis stayed with his point and stood still where he was.
“Alright, I will tell you something,” Feathery brown hair, “I’m Niall, and as I said, your right dude is inside, and he is called Zayn- i already told you that, he is still perfecting his looks, even though I told him his hair always looks perfect, and under us,” Niall leans a little bit forward, “He is fucking freaking out in there. So you better get your ass inside and don’t disappoint him.”
At that moment Niall sounded very protective of Zayn and Louis though better to not disappoint two people, he still wasn’t 100% sure what was going on but he was at least feeling a little bit better, so he took the step inside.
While Louis was taking off his shoes Niall just closed the door behind him and waited at the door that was probably leading to the living room, or at least Louis was assuming that it did. When Niall closed the front door Louis also only took a short sceptical look at it, before going back to his shoes and focusing on Niall.
“Do you want something to drink?” Niall asked him once he was done taking off his shoes.
“Sure,” Louis shrugged with his shoulders, “I mean you were the ones who invited me over, would be pretty rude to just leave me standing here thirsty.”
Niall let out a laugh and nodded, “What do you want? Are we gonna straight up start with the beer or do you want some water?” Niall opened some cupboard, “Or maybe tea,” He looked back over to Louis.
“I think I will just take a tea,” Louis says, his hands still cold, even though it was luckily warm inside the flat, “I stupidly didn’t take a jacket with me.”
Niall furrowed his eyebrows, “It’s not that far.”
“And I get cold easily,” Louis defended himself.
“Alright, here is our tea you can-” Niall started but he was interrupted by a loud banging somewhere from the back of the flat, “Well, that's probably Zayn- I think I should go check up on him, you can make the tea yourself?” Niall asked, already looking behind Louis.
“Yes? I think,” Louis shrugged his shoulders, not sure what else to say.
“Great, I will be back in a sec and Zayn hopefully too,” Niall disappeared and Louis was standing alone in the kitchen.
For a second he just looked around, not doing anything until he realized that Niall, and this Zayn that he had never met before were coming back soon and that Niall was probably expecting from him to have a tea ready. So Louis went over to the cupboard where Niall had just been standing, when he asked Louis for what tea he wanted. Luckily the options weren’t a lot and the one that was standing right on the front was Yorkshire tea so Louis just grabbed it and closed the cupboard.
The kettle was also luckily standing in plain sight and so Louis could just easily fill it up with water and start boiling it. The only hard thing as it turned out was to find three mugs that he could use. He didn’t even have any idea if Niall, or Zayn even liked tea and if they wanted some but if he was already making it in his kitchen it was only the polite thing to also make them a tea.
Just as Louis was pouring the water into the three mugs Niall also came back into the kitchen.
“Great, you found the tea!” He smiled at Louis, “And Zayn will be here soon too- I promise. He’s been driving me nuts all day” Niall rolled his eyes.
“”What are you saying?” A new voice appears behind Niall and Louis’ brain needed a second to catch up that this would be Zayn then and that maybe he should look over.
Biggest mistake of Louis’ whole life.
Because if Niall was already good looking and cute he was nearly nothing in comparison to Zayn.
“Hey, I’m Zayn,” He held his hand out, “And you must be…” Zayn continued without waiting for Louis.
“Yes, Louis- I’m Louis,” Louis nodded and shook Zayn’s hand.
“Louis,” Zayn repeated, “And I see you already met Niall?”
“Sure, and I made tea,” Louis pointed to the mugs, “While you were busy with your hair or whatever Niall had been saying.”
“Oh- that’s great,” Zayn let out a chuckle.
“So guys, wanna move on to the living room when we got our drinks all set up?” Niall claps his hands together and without waiting for an answer Niall just moves from the kitchen to the living room, taking his mug with him. And when Zayn also followed him he just wordlessly grabbed his mug and went there too.
For a few minutes Louis just stood in the door, looking over the living room where Niall and Zayn were already sitting on the couch, nearly on top of each other. Luckily kinda on the oppsoite of the couch there was also an armchair that he could sit down on becuase he really didn’t want to squeeze himself onto the couch with Zayn and Niall and whatever hte fuck was going on there. He actually still had no idea about that.
“So…” Louis started when he finally made himself comfortable in the armachair, thinkin about a nice way to ask them what the fuck is going on, “What exactly,” He gesutred around with his hands before he gave up, “is happening here?” Louis sinks down in his armchair, kinda wanting to die from embarrassment.
“Just explain,” Louis picked his question back up, looking over at Niall and Zayn, “Like, why are there two of you and why was it always Zayn that was on top of the roof and then one night suddenly there were you?”
“Alright, I mean- I said I would explain so I guess,” Niall looked over to Zayn, who nodded silently.
“I mean, at first Niall just didn’t know anything about it,” Zayn chuckled and looked over to Niall, “I just went there because I wanted to quit smoking and I need something to distract me- I guess, but then you were there, smoking, and as far as I could tell you were also pretty good looking,” Zayn looked down at his lap and Louis might be a little bit blushing too.
“Anyway,” Zayn cleared his throat, “The next night I went again, I guess just to see if you were there again or something. And surprisingly you actually were there again, just like the night before.”
“But you were smoking that second night?” Louis threw in, “Didn’t you just say you wanted to quit.”
“You were smoking the second night again already?” Niall looked at Zayn, the hurt clear in his eyes.
“I- yeah, sorry, I just needed something so that I could stay there longer, you know. I had no idea night after night if Louis would ever come back.”
“The second night!” Niall exclaimed again, making Louis just as uncomfortable as Zayn probably was but he had no idea if it was a good idea to interfere with them.
“Can’t I just continue? We can talk about this later?” Zayn asked with a soft voice, his hand on Niall’s knew and Niall just nodded.
“Alright, go on.”
“So then I told Niall that there was some cute dude on the other roof on the opposite of mine, and he wouldn’t believe me,” Zayn shrugged, “Can you believe it? And then Niall absolutely begged me to see you too. In the end we thought that if he just went up there alone that you wouldn’t even notice that it wasn’t me.”
“Worked out great, didn’t it?” Louis chuckled.
“How long did it take you until you noticed?” Niall asked curiously.
“I knew it the second that I saw you,” Louis laughed.
“Seriously?” Niall pouted and moved down in his seat as well as closer to Zayn, “That is mean, why can’t I never have cool things like this happening to me, it’s always you.”
“Bad luck,” Zayn just patted Niall’s hair, “Anyway, when Niall saw you and came back down that night he came to me and said, and I quote ‘Dang, this dude would totally be worth it. I like him.’”
Louis looked between Niall and Zayn. While he may now know more about their intentions with going up the roof and why one night there was suddenly somebody else that he had no idea of- that all made sense, but this whole dynamic was giving Louis a headache.
On the one hand, most of the time when Zayn and Niall were interacting with each other it seemed like they were a couple that had been together for ages and at the same time Louis thought that he was there because Zay thought that he was good looking and that he was maybe in a relationship too. He had even openly admitted to thinking that Louis was hot, just like Niall did.
“And I mean the rest is history- we both went onto the roofs every night and saw each other, one day you realized that it was becoming autumn and that it maybe wasn’t hot enough anymore to go onto the roof every night and not freeze your ass off so we had to do something. And here we are,” Zayn concluded the story.
“And here we are,” Louis mumbled under his breath, “So uh… one last question, if I may?” Louis asked
“Sure, I told you we were gonna tell you everything you need to know.”
“What exactly is going on between you two,” Louis pointed between Niall and Zayn before he leaned forward a little bit, “Because to be honest- this is quite confusing,” Louis leaned back into his armchair.
“Well,” Niall looked over to look out for Zayn’s reaction who slightly nodded at Niall, “We are in an open relationship.”
“In a-“ The words were out of Louis’ mouth before he could even think about it.
“An open relationship- more or less so,” Zayn repeated.
“So you are saying that you,” Louis pointed at Zayn, “Want to fuck me and you,” Louis pointed now at Niall, “Are his boyfriend and are alright with it,” After Louis said that out loud he could feel the dread in his stomach and he kinda wanted to run back home and just curl up in his bed but at the same time he wanted to know more- and he really wanted to know what exactly was going on, because instead of explaining everything to Louis it seemed like it was all just getting more and more complicated by the second.
“I don’t- not per se that I want to fuck you,” Zayn said slowly, “It wouldn’t be a lie but it wouldn’t be the whole truth either.”
“Then tell me,” Louis stood up from his seat and paced around the living room, too much nervous energy to be sitting down right now.
“It’s not the kind of situation where we have sex with other people and everybody arounds us thinks that we are just cheating on our partner and that we think it’s hot.”
“Good,” Louis let out a breath.
“It’s more like- '' Niall continued where Zayn left off, “It’s more like a polymarous relationship, just that right now it’s just us two, but we wouldn’t be opposed to adding somebody new to it. More on the romance level than on the purely sexual based one.”
“So you want to wine and dine me.”
“Exactly,” Niall nodded, looking a little bit proud that Louis finally got it.
Louis sat down in his armchair again and looked at Niall and Zayn who were expectantly looking at him too. He tried to make his mind up but right now this was all too much information for him to process, while Niall and Zayn were looking like they were waiting for an answer from him, so Louis did the only thing that he could think about at that moment.
“So what about the movie that I was invited to watch?” Louis asked out of the blue into the silence of the room.
“The movie, sure,” Niall shrugged his shoulders, but not before looking over at Zayn to see what he was saying. Louis swore that they were talking through telepathy and he would die to know what they were saying.
-
After the movie the only thing that Louis did was that he awkwardly stood up and said that it was late— which was a total lie— and that he better get going. The only thing that Niall forced him to do before he went out was that they should exchange numbers and that maybe they could do it again sometime. Louis just wordlessly nodded and gave Niall his phone number.
On the one hand it was a good thing that they did it— now Louis could at least call them and he knew who it was that he had been hanging out with on the roof but on the other hand he still couldn’t make up his mind with what he should think about this situation. Maybe it was best if he went home and thought about it without them there so that he could make up his mind and then talk to them again.
-
In the next week they did not talk to each other at all. Louis was definitely not keen on talking to either Zayn or Niall again after they made him feel all weird inside so that he know has no idea how he is or even should be feeling. It isn’t everyday that somebody reveals to you that they would be open to you joining their already existing relationship— even though both Niall and Zayn seemed to be fine with it all, Louis had no idea what was going on in his mind and if he was even fine with it.
Why wasn’t he just fine? Why couldn’t he just think that it was weird and that he never wanted to talk to them again? Louis was pretty sure that they had already had that happening to him, but instead he was sitting at home on a Friday night, a week later, still overthinking everything.
In that moment Louis could hear his phone notifications go off and for a second he thought that he was saved from his own thoughts but that was only until he looked at who had sent him a text.
Zayn. It was Zayn that had just sent him a text. And it was Zayn who was asking him, Louis, if he wanted to come over to them again, and maybe eat some dinner because Niall had apparently cooked too much and Louis was the only person that they could think about. Didn’t they have other friends?
Louis stared questioningly at the text for a minute before he let out a sight and gave into his instincts, texting Zayn that he would be over in 15 minutes, or even half an hour depending.
For the first time that night Louis got up from his couch and went to the bathroom to look into the mirror. At first he thought he was not looking that bad, he had been at work today so at least this morning he got properly ready, washed himself and everything but after re-evaluating everything outfits was a catastrophe and it had to change like right now.
Fifteen minutes later Louis was standing in front of his closet, kinda wanting to cry over the fact that there was nothing for him that he could wear. In the end he just gave up and grabbed his favorite black jeans and a graphic t-shirt that always went along with the jeans well and got out of the door as quick as he could, it was embarrassing enough as it was how long he just stood there in front of his closed even though he knew that nobody would even care about his outfit. It didn’t even fucking matter and Louis was making such a big fuss about it. Sometimes he really hated it.
This time finding and ringing the bell and taking the lift upstairs went way faster than last time- but then again, it was already the second time that he was here and he knew where he had to go.
In the elevator he shortly checked out his hair if it really was still looking alright, even though he had only been outside for no more than five minutes it had been ridiculously windy, but that’s what comes with winter in England. In Louis’ humble opinion his hair was still looking decent. Not as good as Zayn’s though, Louis thought to himself.
When Louis arrived at the right floor at the door wasn’t only was Niall waiting for him but now Zayn was there too.
“Hey,” Zayn greeted him, “You actually came.”
“I… yeah I did,” Louis shrugged with his shoulders, suddenly not so sure anymore if it was the right decision to come here.
“Great, at least no food will be wasted then,” Niall said.
“Sure,” Louis stepped through the door inside the korridor and took his shoes off again, just like he did last time, “What did you even make?”
“Oh, I just made an Irish Stew” Niall shrugged with his shoulders, “Nothing special.”
“More than I could ever cook,” Louis let out a chuckle.
“You can’t cook?” Zayn asked and Louis nodded, hoping Zayn wasn’t judging him too hard that he was still not able to cook a proper meal that isn’t total shit even though he was already nearing his thirties more and more every day, “Wouldn’t survive without Niall here either,” Is what Zayn said instead and threw his arm over Niall’s shoulder.
“I know, it’s the only reason why he is still sticking with me,” Niall whispered to Louis, who just let out another chuckle.
“So this better be good,” Louis teased.
“Ohh, believe me, my food is the best,” Niall promised him, walking into the dining area, “Take a seat.”
“Anywhere? Or do you have specific seats?” Louis asked.
“Doesn’t matter, most of the time we end up at the couch anyway,” Zayn shrugged his shoulders and pushed one of the chairs back to sit down.
Louis, who was still standing at the head of the table, looked between Zayn and Niall, trying to decide which side he should choose before he finally settled on sitting down beside Niall.
“So you just accidentally made too much food? Or was this all a plan to get me to come over,” Louis asked a few bites into the meal.
“This happens like all the time,” Zayn laughed.
“It’s the usual portion sizes that work at home, I’m sorry that we don’t have a four headed family here and it’s just us two. These recipes just weren’t designed for something like this.”
“Sure, but I thought by now you knew that you could reduce everything, cut it in half or something.”
“Zaaaaayn,” Niall pouted, “But it wouldn’t taste as good if I would just cut everything in half.”
Zayn shaked his head, looking like they had this argument before, “Well then, as long as nothing goes to waste.”
“We got Louis now,” Niall pointed with his fork at Louis, making him stop in motion for a second, “Don’t we?” Niall looked over to Louis, waiting for him to also bring himself into the conversation.
“Sure,” Louis shrugged, “It definitely doesn’t taste bad.”
“But you are saying it could be better?”
“Well, I don’t know about you, but mothers cooking is always best, and no offense but you aren’t a mother, none the less my mother,” Louis tried to look at Niall dead seriously.
“No- no I’m not,” Niall wheezes out, nearly falling out of his chair laughing.
“But you could be,” Zayn waggled with his eyebrows, nobody really taking him seriously.
“As long as they got your genes,” Niall shrugged with his shoulders.
“Oh I see how it is,” Louis crossed his arms and leaned forward, “You are already thinking about children then?”
“Yes,” Niall dramatically grasps his chest, “We both just feel so ready for children.”
Zayn looked Louis dead serious into the eyes, “We are so ready, I don’t think a child would survive more than a week with us. We are totally ready.”
Louis and Zayn both tried their best to stay serious and hold eye contact but as they heard Niall wheezing in the background they also couldn’t stay serious anymore.
Continuing like this they only took a few bites in between, when they remembered that they still had food on their plates, otherwise just laughing and chatting to each other and it was the best that Louis had felt in a long time. He did not remember the last time that he had laughed so much.
What felt like just a few minutes, but in reality had been an hour, they also finished their plates and their bellies were full and hurting, even though none of them knew if it came from all the laughing or if they just simply ate too much.
After Niall went into the kitchen to bring their plates away and clean the table up a little bit Zayn offered Louis to show him the roof of their apartment building and even though Louis suspected that it would not be looking all too different from his he still agreed willingly to come with Zayn.
Because it did feel kinda magical, the roof had always been their place, since Zayn started to come regularly, and now he was invited to see it all from Zayn’s side. Louis felt honored that Zayn was taking him with him, Louis himself had never taken anybody with him onto the roof because he just couldn’t imagine being there with anybody else.
The only exception now was Zayn, who he had only met and who he was still incredibly confused about but where at the same time Louis could not imagine not meeting and not being in this place.
The elevator takes them up onto the tenth floor. On the ride Louis just looks over to Zayn, not sure what he should say, trying to fill the awkward silence between them, so he just lets it be before it gets even more awkward.
When they reach the tenth floor they both get out of the elevator and Zayn just straight up goes to the other end of the floor, Louis following him a little bit like a lost puppy.
“Here,” Zayn held a door open, behind it Louis couldn’t see much besides another staircase, “We have to go up another floor, its kinda like a attic dunno why they didn’t build and elevator up there too but from there we can get onto the roof.”
“Sure,” Louis nodded and went up the stairs, where another door greeted him, this time thought Louis is the one pushing it open for Zayn.
Louis is glad that once they finally step onto the roof he doesn’t feel the deep need anymore to fill the silence between them, because now he had other things to concentrate on and take in.
Taking in a deep breath of the fresh air Louis takes a look around the roof. As suspected it is very similar looking since it is just a roof, there is not a lot that can be special about it besides the people that are on it.
“So how are you?” Zayn asked from behind Louis.
“What?” Louis turned around quickly, looking at Zayn who was just calmly sitting down on the floor.
“How. Are. You?” Zayn repeated the question slowly.
“I’m good-?” Louis answered, still confused, “Why are you asking?”
“Because it seemed like your feelings were all over the place today, but I, too, would be pretty confused in your situation.”
“I… uhm, no,” Louis tried his best to defend himself and not make it seem like Zayn was exactly hitting the sore spot.
“Sit down,” Zayn patted on the floor beside him and Louis just compiled and sat down beside Zayn, who took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket “Want a cigarette?” Zayn asked, still fully calm.
“I thought you were supposed to quit?” Louis asked, holding his hand out.
“It’s not that easy, you know,” Zayn said, taking the first drag of his cigarette, “But this isn’t about me right now, we can talk about that later, we were talking about you.”
“Sure,” Louis stared at the ground, not wanting to go back to him and his feelings.
“I’m guessing you are mostly scared?” Zayn asked into the darkness of the night, not even looking at Louis.
“I… you…,” Louis tried to find the right words, “How do you even know this? Or are you just guessing?” Louis settled on saying.
“Everything is always scary. Yes I can only guess how you are feeling but you are alone in this and suddenly there are two dudes you met because you went onto your roof that now want something from you. I would be pretty confused too- I was pretty confused. So?”
“Yeah,” Louis slightly nodded, “It’s confusing as fuck and I have no idea what to do now.”
“Allow yourself to try out, don’t be so scared and take the risk.”
“And what if I break your heart? Or Niall’s? What if it doesn’t work out?” Louis finally voices all the thoughts that had been running around in his mind for the past week, that he had nobody to talk to about.
“I said don’t be scared,” Zayn looked over to Louis.
“Alright,” Louis looked back over to Zayn and nodded, “Easier said than done, but I will try,” Louis let his shoulders sink, giving into Zayn and everything that he had been scared about the whole last week.
“Good,” Zayn smiled at him, “We can start slow, go on a few dates and all that. Wine and Dine. Now the only thing you still have to do is to tell Niall.”
“Jesus fuck no,” Louis heavily breathed out, “As if this wasn’t already hard enough.”
“Those are the rules, babe.”
“Nobody ever told me about them, that is totally unfair!”
“I assumed that these were just rules that everybody knows,” Zayn shrugged, “Not my fault that people usually have the decency to talk to their future partners themselves.”
“Fuck you,” Louis shoved Zayn on the shoulder and quickly got up.
“Wanna go back down?”
“Yeah, nothing I can do to avoid it, and I really don’t want to run away.”
“I told you don’t be scared, that would probably also count with running away.”
“Fuck you and all your rules. In the end I will just sit at home as an emotionless ball,” Louis let out a tiny laughter.
“That wouldn’t be my problem, would it?” Zayn held the door open for Louis and when they were both inside he closed it behind them again.
Going down the stairs and in the elevator Louis got lost in his own thoughts, trying to think about what he would say to Niall, what the best way to phrase his words would be.
“You can do this,” Zayn encouraged him just before the doors of the elevator opened with a silent ping.
When they stepped to the left, where the flat from Niall and Zayn was, Louis could already see Niall standing in their door, waiting for them.
“Had fun?” Niall waggled with his eyebrows.
“Yep, we made plans to run away from you and leave you all alone in this flat as well as talk about how Louis is going to become an unemotional blob that only sits on the couch all day,” Zayn nodded, satisfied.
“Well great, I just made us some tea again in the meantime! Wanna come in and sit down,” Niall stepped out of the door and let them back inside.
When they all had their teas in their hands they sat back down in the living room, in the same constellation that they had the first time that they sat here just that this time it was Louis who held to tell them, Niall, something and not the other way around. At least Zayn already knew.
And as soon as they were all sat down and comfortable in their chairs and Zayn was giving him these looks, making it feel like he wanted to make Louis feel even smaller instead of encouraging him. Niall meanwhile just sat in between them, looking between Zayn and Louis, trying to figure out what was going on.
At one point Niall crossed his arms in front of his chest and cleared his throat, “So what did you talk about on the roof that I do not know anything about? And why is Zayn throwing you all these looks?”
“Yeah Louis,” Zayn looked at Louis.
“Well, Zayn and I talked,” Louis didn’t know whether he should look over to Zayn and Niall or if he should stare at the ground, trying to disappear. But lucky for him Zayn laid his hand back on Niall’s knee before he could make some sort of comment.
“And… we said that maybe we should go on a few dates with each other and see how it goes.”
“Yes,’” Niall jumped off the couch, “Zayn my saviour.”
“Uhh,” Louis looked over to Zayn who also just shrugged with his shoulders.
“But I’m gonna get the first date right? You both already had all that time on top of the roof that I was excluded from,” Niall pouted.
“Sure,” Zayn raised his hands and shrugged with his shoulders, both of them now looking over to Louis who just nodded.
“Why not.”
“Yay,” Niall let himself fall back down beside Zayn, “This is amazing.”
