Sniper's endless days of fighting never seemed to change. A cycle of sniping, repositioning and sometimes stabbing an annoying Spy, the fight wasn't all too engaging. And that's fine. He'd rather stay still than run. After all, that's when he could do his best-
"HYAHH!"
Soldier's scream seemed to pierce the heavens and almost made Sniper yell, but he knew better. Calmly, he unscoped and watched Soldier land on his feet. Soldier was giddier than usual and stumbled, but managed to balance himself correctly. "I have something important to tell you, Sniper!" "What is it? It must be dire if you're not out front." Soldier placed his rocket launcher on the ground and stood still. Sniper held his breath.
"At first I thought you were nothing but a maggot." Sniper raised a brow. "But you have made many noteworthy acts in the battlefield! And especially towards my heart-" Sniper let out a snort and quickly regretted it when he noticed the deep frown at the interruption. "Sorry! I couldn't believe ya were serious!" Sniper waved his hands around, and Soldier pouted. "Do you think this is a joke, Sniper? My feelings are as real as George Washington, as strong as an eagle's wings and as-" "I get it! I get it!" Sniper propped the rifle below the window and rubbed the back of his neck.
He cleared his throat and glanced at the sight outside. "Uh, why now? We're still defending. You're still needed out there." "Not as much as I need you!"
Sniper let out another snort, this time louder and heavier against the back of his hand.
"Mate, who taught you these... pick-up lines? Compliments? Where the hell did you learn these?" Sniper paused to take a deep breath, and continued. "I could never imagine you sayin' that to me." Soldier scratched his cheek with his finger. "Well, Engineer taught me to be straight-forward, and Spy taught me what I should say!" "Wait- they know?" Soldier puffed out his chest proudly. "Of course! I made sure the entire team knew!"
Sniper sat on a nearby box and covered his face, slowly turning pinkish-red. "The entire team?" "Of course! Why shouldn't I let them know how much I adore you?" With a deep, wavering sigh, Sniper peeked through his fingers and watch Soldier smile brightly at him. The sound of bullets was getting closer, and the explosions even nearer. He wasn't too concerned. "How about we talk about more of this later?" Soldier's smile grew wider.
Demoman reaches Scout's back and pats it a bit too roughly. "I'm just tellin' what I can think of, brotha'. I'm just too imaginative for ya!" Scout yells. Demoman stares and shakes his head. "Alright, get him out of here. He's drunk! That ain't even a good joke." Sniper processes Scout's story, and eventually, he picks him up and walks towards the bedrooms. Both Demoman and Soldier stare, one unconcerned and the other baffled.
"How did he know I'd even do that for him?"
