Puffy found her outside the house.
She was alone, on the porch.
Blood was on her claws. There were four fresh tears through the back of her shirt, and in those tears were four scars.
Puffy sighed, then leant down and opened her arms.
Niki, knowing this song and dance, opened her arms too, and Puffy leant down and picked her up with ease.
Later, Puffy'd help Niki with the bandages, and they'd sit in silence while she did them up. Afterwards, they'd lay on the sofa, and Puffy would kiss her fingers, especially the declawed ones, and name the reasons why she loved her.
They'd fall asleep like that, on the sofa, with Niki and Puffy asleep and Niki with her arms draped over her protectively.
