Work Text:
Midtown high were all gathered in the main hall for a whole school assembly, something everyone hated. The minutes seemed to tick on slowly when suddenly the doors burst open and a group of armed men stormed in. One of the men fired a couple of shots in the air to silence everyone. One of the men made their way to the front of the hall whilst the rest spread out amongst the room as if looking for someone. Peter, without anyone noticing, sent an alert to FRIDAY using his Stark Watch Tony had given him.
"Now," the man at the front of the room began with a predatory grin, "which one of you is Peter Parker." Everyone gasped in shock, what could they possibly want with Peter. Peter considered his options, he could hand himself over, try and fight then men and reveal his identity, or he could let his class and teacher be put in more danger and potentially get shot- really he only had one option- so much for a secret identity. All he had to do was not get killed, keep everyone safe and hold off the men until Tony got there- should be easy, right?
Peter, much to the shock of his teachers and the students there, stepped forward giving a rather awkward wave the the armed men. Everyone turned their guns onto Peter. The man who asked for Peter took a step closer to him, Adrien Toomes sends his regards." The man snarled. Peter somehow kept his cool composure, but on the inside he was panicking at the mention of The Vulture. Peter could tell on of the men was about to take a shot at him so he skillfully and gracefully leapt out of the way. He used his web-shooters to pull the gun from the mans hand, knocked the man out. This spurred everyone else into action, Peter barked at students and staff to all get back so none of them got hurt in the cross-fire.
No-one could quite process the scene in front of them, Peter Parker- resident nerd, the boy who has been failing sports since, well always, was Spider-Man and he was fighting off several armed men. Although Peter being Spider-Man didn't matter too much, they more cared that he, and everyone else, got out of this safely. Somehow, Peter managed to fight off the majority of the men, leaving only one, who Peter assumed was their leader.
"You know I almost didn't believe Toomes when he said Spider-Man was a high-schooler. I never understood how a man like him could be taken down by a child." The man begun as Peter went for the attack.
"Yeah well, both of you made the same mistake." Peter quipped.
"Oh yeah, what's that." The gunman retorted.
"You underestimated me." And with that Peter knocked the man out. He breathed a huge sigh of relief, he'd done it, everyone was safe. Before Peter could do or say anything else, the doors burst open as Iron Man himself blasted them with his repulsors.
"Jeez took you long enough." Peter sassed as he beamed at Tony.
"I got here as fast as I could, anyway looks like you had it covered." Tony replied proudly as his suit de-materialized around him. He made his way over to Peter and assessed him before getting FRIDAY to scan for any injuries, who came to the same conclusion that Tony did- Peter was okay.
"I swear I'm going gray because of you kid." Tony uttered before pulling Peter into a tight hug and whispering an apology for not getting there sooner to protect him. Peter assured Tony that it was okay and that he and everyone else was okay. Had Peter not just fought of several people and revealed that he was Spider-Man to his entire school then they would have been shocked by this interaction. When someone cleared their throat Tony and Peter turned around. Peter gave a weak 'surprise' and did jazz hands at them whilst Tony rolled his eyes and sighed heavily, this was going to be a long day.
Tony, by some miracle, manage to defuse the situation so Peter's identity as Spider-Man wouldn't be revealed to the world, which peter was grateful for. At least it was going to remain somewhat of a secret. After Tony got everything sorted, he took Peter back to the Tower for the day, which no-one objected to as he did just save everyone. Tony said that was the reason, Peter deserved the day off, but really he didn't want to let Peter out of his sight in case someone else tried to hurt him.
When Peter returned to school he made the decision to stop hiding his Spidey powers and just use them openly, he might as well seeing as everyone there knows his secret. It made sports super interesting for everyone and boring for Peter at times.
One lesson they were given a makeshift obstacle course to do, as best as the school could make- whilst some struggled to get to the end and some didn't even manage to complete it, Peter reached the end in five minutes, much to everyone else's dismay as they still had to do the full hour of sports. Peter asked the teacher if he could leave and do other work or do something else but he wasn't allowed to so he had to sit bored whilst everyone else took part in the lesson. However, one advantage to using the Spidey powers in sport was when they played dodge ball, whoever was on Peter's team always won, until Flash complained about how unfair it was, so Peter was made to go on a team alone against his whole class, they were sure that all of them combined could win. Peter sent them all a smirk as he got ready for their ambush- he dodges bullets on a regular basis, this would be a piece of cake, a walk in the park, as simple as 1,2,3- you get the picture.
The coach blew the whistle for them to begin- Peter, being the gentle(spider)man he is, allowed for the opposing team to take all of the dodgeballs to their half. In synchronization, they threw all of them at Peter thinking that by striking all together they stood the best chance, the logic was there, but logic didn't exactly hold up against Spidey-senses. Expertly, Peter dodged everything that was thrown at him, a right timed jump, a side step here, a front flip, a back flip- like a true acrobat (or should that be acro-spider). As the last ball arrived to his side he caught it mid-flip and did a signature 'superhero landing'. He tossed the ball up in the air and caught it, smirking at the other team. It was at this moment they knew, they fucked up. It's fair to say they never stood a chance and whenever anyone suggested dodgeball again, they were quickly shut down. Peter was unstoppable.
On top of this, Peter broke all of the schools sporting records, every single one was held by him and would be indefinitely- unless the school somehow gets another enhanced student, but that's unlikely.
If the students or staff of Midtown saw Peter completing his work whilst on the ceiling then that became completely normal. Or if he walked along the ceiling in the busy halls to get from one place to another then no-one batted an eye, it was just Peter, being Peter. Over time, Peter became more and more spider-like and everyone just embraced that. He was still the nerdiest kid in all of Queens, who just happened to be enhanced thanks to a spider-bite.
