There is a legend that you and your soulmate are connected to each other by an invisible red string.
Well one day, it became visible, but that just so happened to be when the white hyperkinetic rabbity thing was asleep and dreaming.
But it wasn’t a good dream.
He and his business partner were standing across from one another, the red strings on their fingers leading away from each other.
“I'm sorry max… but no matter how much we want to be together, the universe will not allow it.” Max cries. “But Sam… I love you…” the dog turns away. “I did love you max but… I don't anymore… I need to find the one I am meant to be with. He starts walking away. “Sam… please…” Sam looks back at him. “So long little buddy…” he then walks into the distance, disappearing. Max begins to cry, falling to his knees and hugging himself, the darkness surrounding him getting closer.
Max suddenly woke up, crying. “Sam… why…” he wept into his pillow. His crying alerted Sam, who came in. “max…?” Max looked up, his face wet with tears. “Oh, buddy…” he goes to Max and gives him a big hug. Max holds onto him, weeping into his shirt. “There there… I got you…`` Max hugs him for a bit, pulls back. “C-can i see your hands? Sam nods, showing Max his hands. Max saw that the red string tied around Sam’s right ring finger…
DID connect to the string on his.
Max sighs in relief, smiling and hugging him again, taking his hand in his own. “I knew you were my soulmate!” Sam holds him gently. “Well of course I am max.” he rubs his back gently. Max sniffles. “M-my dream… in my dream, we were not soulmates and you… left me because of it.” Sam gasps and hugs him tighter. “Oh Max, I'm so sorry... I would never leave you! Even if we weren't soulmates… which, honestly the only reason that you wouldn’t be my soulmate is if the universe made some kinda cosmic mistake…” max sniffles. “Thank you Sam… I love you so much…” Sam nuzzles him. “I love you too little buddy.” Max kisses Sam softly, Sam holding him by the waist with one hand, the other entwining max's fingers with his. The string between them formed a little heart.
They pull back slowly, smiling and looking deep into each other's eyes. Sam suddenly gets an idea, snapping his fingers. “Hey max, now that we’ve found our soulmates, why don’t we help others find their way to theirs?” max backs up a bit. “Ehhh… sounds too mushy for me.” but Sam was already going to get dressed. Max sighed and got up. “Whelp, Sam's bothersome sense of do-gooder-ism is at it again…”
