Chapter Text
The amount of abnormal creatures that the Straw Hats meet have always been a concerningly high ratio, although the ones they've been encountering haven't exactly been abnormal as much as they've been...mysterious. For as well informed and research prone Robin is, even she was unable to confirm the origin of the creatures.
Not that it was a large concern, that being said. After all, they seem to be good listeners and quite friendly to their crew and anyone else that gains their trust.
The crew can't help but smile and laugh at the sight of Zacian curling up next to their swordsman on the deck, the man's hand placed on the soft, bushy tail of the wolf-like creature.
Anyone not well-versed with the way the Strawhat Pirates rolled would look upon the sight and raise an eyebrow and perhaps choke on air, depending on who it was.
The peace on the crew doesn’t last long, though.
The new island causes many problems. One of the main ones being… Well-
From the depths, a pillar of fire bursts through the rocks. The flare shoots out in all directions and Zekrom immediately is on guard. It discharges volts of electricity to redirect the stray flares away from the group. Rayquaza stirs up a blast of wind with its tail and Suicune shoots down the approaching debris. Zekrom growls and steps in front of the Strawhats. A tinge of pink surrounds its head and it lowers its body, immediately slamming into the culprit. The other creature howls and stabilizes itself. Its blue irises pierce through the smoke. Zekrom freezes in its attacks.
‘Brother?’
No response.
Only destruction as the other lets out a flash of flame.
The creature’s pure white fur is stained by the dirt and rubble of the mine, its wispy mane swirling with the wind; tinges of a sunset color are speckled at the edge of them. The fire from the creature did not do anything to warm the air; it was still chilled and freezing. Zekrom howls and a wave of electricity belts out from its mouth.
The Strawhats watch in shock and awe as they bring the fight to the skies. Zekrom is raging at the world, for he has realized that his brother is non-responsive; cannot hear him. Zekrom howls and cries pure grief. His captain’s eyes are shadowed, fists clenched. He understands his situation, though he has not been in a situation like that — a situation where his brother seethes nothing; is empty and blank.
“Zekrom…let me help…”
The dragon turns and bares his teeth. “Child, I have this covered, don’t stick your nose in places where it does not belong.”
The raven’s eyes narrow. “I beat up Doflamingo for Rebecca and the people who were suffering under him. What makes you think that I wouldn’t help you — you who’s suffering because of Mingo’s misgivings?!” His disposition is still and calm, but the rage burns through his voice, teeth grinding against each other. Zekrom blinks and goes quiet.
He’s already seen what the boy is like on Dressrosa.
Luffy is loyal. Luffy is kind. Luffy may not be the most smart person on the planet, but he definitely is attuned and perceptive to others’ emotions. Even his. And in some way he is thankful for it, but on the other hand, he cannot stand it. He cannot stand looking at the boy, looking into the teen’s eyes and seeing his younger brother in the kid. Somewhere deep inside himself, he knows that it’s his jealousy speaking. The envy of Luffy being able to have one of his brothers safe and sound — despite the risks of the brother’s interesting occupation — but knowing that his own younger brother is still simply a puppet to the selfishness and greed of human beings.
He knows that on the inside, he’s angry and furious… Angry and furious about being a terrible older brother.
He is not like Sabo, or at the very least, was not like Sabo when the two of them were younger. He was aloof; too serious for majority of the time, He was dismissive and too caught up in his duties as charge for the Hero of Ideals to where he was subconsciously pushing his family away. It hurt being shoved in front of that realization only after the disappearance of his sibling. And…this boy seemed to know it, too. The raven stood still; strong, in the face of strength and intimidation and the waves of frustration rolling off the dragon.
Zekrom growls. He resigns himself to the boy and briskly nods before turning his sights back to his other half. “Fine. But we are doing this my way.”
A short laugh escapes the pirate.
Zekrom knows that it will be fine; Luffy is nothing short of a miracle, after all. He has seen it with his own eyes, after all.
“‘Blinding Flare’ Reshiram is the other half of the yin-yang duo of itself and Zekrom. They are a large white-furred dragon whose tail sparks a bright and vibrant red when enraged or energized. Smoke and flames wisp out of its mouth when in a fight. WIth a flap of its wings, whirlwinds of wisps and fire blaze through the sky.
Reshiram destroyed countless cities and buildings; left destruction in its wake. It is extremely powerful and its affinity for fire makes it a large danger to the general public.
Initially spotted as a bright flare in the night sky, they disappeared from the public eye for a long time. They were later seen bursting into a pillar of fire from the depths of the ground on an unknown island. They fought against their supposed older brother ‘Blinding Strike’ Zekrom, before falling to the depths; their fate is unknown.
