“What do you think you’re doing, Dubu?”
Dahyun looked up from her place on Sana’s bed where she had been writing in a notebook. She really wasn’t sure what she’d done to make Sana mad.
“I’m writing a story,” she said, doing her best to keep a smile on her face. She was scared of what Sana might do to her when she’s angry.
But Sana didn’t get angry; instead, she crawled across the bed and wrapped her arms around Dahyun, resting her chin on her shoulder. Dahyun held her close; she really loved getting cuddles from her girlfriend.
“What were you writing?” Sana asked quietly in her ear. She pulled away from the hug and grabbed the notebook, her eyes skimming the pages.
“A story about two girls in love,” Dahyun answered, her worried expression changing into something happier. She was excited to get Sana’s opinion on her work.
“Two girls, huh?” Sana asked, and Dahyun nodded. Sana looked up from the notebook with an unamused expression on her face; Dahyun’s smile faded.
“You don’t like it?”
Sana tossed the notebook to the side and held the side of Dahyun’s face instead. The grip was rough enough to scare Dahyun. Sana answered, “Why would you make up a story about love when you have your own real love right here?” Her voice was firm and scary without saying anything too threatening.
Dahyun swallowed dry. “I just wanted to write while you were at work, is all.”
Sana’s expression was a terrifying stillness. “Don’t try to use excuses, they won’t work on me.”
Dahyun nodded as best as she could with Sana’s strong grip on her face.
“Do you understand me?”
Dahyun nodded again. “Yes, Sana, I understand. I won’t do it again.”
And as simple as that, the issue was solved. Dahyun would keep her stories in her head, a place where Sana would never find them.

“Dinner is served,” Dahyun sang, setting two plates onto the table. Sana thanked her and kissed her lips before sitting down to eat.
“How was work?” Dahyun asked.
Sana finished chewing before she responded. “It was good. How was my little Dubu doing at home on her own? Did you miss me?”
Dahyun did miss her girlfriend, so she nodded. Sana smiled and reached over to pat her head. “What did you do all day?”
Dahyun thought about it before saying, “I cleaned the house and I watched TV.”
“That’s good, baby. I’m glad you can find entertainment without having to imagine other couples, aren’t you, too? It’s more healthy now that I’m the only person you think of.”
Dahyun didn’t understand how that would be better, but she nodded regardless. She didn’t mention the fact that the TV show she watched was about a couple, as she figured that would get her in trouble. So he kept her mouth shut and nodded.
“Here you go, baby,” Sana said, and Dahyun snapped back into attention. Sana was holding out a piece of meat for Dahyun, who thanked her and took a bite. Sana fed her until she was full, then she left to her room while Dahyun was left to clean the kitchen.
Dahyun really hoped she’d get cuddles tonight; she thought she’d been good.

Sana bent her fingers perfectly inside of Dahyun, who gasped loudly and felt herself come closer to finishing. Sana’s lips moved mercilessly against Dahyun’s, bruising and biting the pink area until it was bleeding and red.
“I love you,” Dahyun said when she came, because it was true.
“I love you too,” Sana whispered, and she lapped up the blood at Dahyun’s chin.

“Sana, can I go out and see Mina? I haven’t seen her in a while.”
Sana paused the motions of playing with her hair. “Why would you want to go see Mina when you have me right here?”
Dahyun held up her phone screen for Sana to read the texts she's exchanged with Mina. “I miss her, so she was thinking we could have a day with just us two.”
Sana handed Dahyun her phone back. “You don’t need to see her. Tell her you’re too busy to visit her.”
Dahyun was confused. “But I’m not busy, am I?”
Sana’s eyes narrowed. “You’re busy. Tell her no.”
Dahyun was a bit bummed out, but she agreed to tell Mina no and made up an excuse. She figured that Sana had made plans without telling her about them, so she couldn’t see her that Sunday. Maybe they could reschedule, though.
But when Sunday rolled around there were no plans; they only cuddled and watched a movie on Sana’s laptop. Dahyun figured the plans were just cancelled, though she didn’t mention it.

“I love you,” Sana whispered against her lips.
“I love you too,” Dahyun answered, because why wouldn’t she?
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
The days were getting boring. Dahyun wasn’t allowed to write anymore so she took to reading, picking a random book from Sana’s bookshelf and getting halfway through it before she heard the front door open.
“What are you reading, Dubu?”
Dahyun held the book out for her girlfriend to see. “It’s from your bookshelf.”
“It’s mine?” Sana asked, snatching the book away. “Why would you touch my things without asking?”
Dahyun had never thought to ask, so she voiced that out loud. She didn’t think that her girlfriend would be so mad at her for reading.
“You’re not allowed to touch my things, Dubu. If you want something, you can ask me, and I’ll get it for you. Do you understand?”
Dahyun just figured that Sana was a huge germaphobe, which would explain why she always made her clean. So she agreed to her terms and was rewarded with kisses.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“Why are you getting ready?” Dahyun asked, rubbing her eyes.
Sana paused the action of applying mascara. “I’m going out to the shops today.”
“Oh, I haven’t been out of the house in so long!” Dahyun clapped excitedly, “Can I come with you?”
Sana seemed to think about it. “I would love for you to come, but it’s very dangerous where I’m going. We wouldn’t want you to get hurt, would we?”
Dahyun pouted. “I really want to go, though.”
Sana nodded sympathetically. “I know, Dubu. Maybe next time?”
Dahyun’s sadness subsided. “Okay, I’ll come next time.”
“Hopefully,” Sana agreed, and she finished getting ready. Dahyun was excited to be able to go out with her girlfriend, as they hadn’t been on a date in a while. She would look forward to it.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Sana sucked a mark onto Dahyun’s neck. Dahyun was writhing beneath her, already feeling so close.
“I love you,” Sana said.
“I love you,” Dahyun said, and she was pretty sure she did.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“Who are you texting?” Sana asked, settling onto the couch next to Dahyun.
“Just Mina,” Dahyun answered, turning her phone off.
“Why do you talk with Mina so much? You know you’re mine, right?”
Dahyun tilted her head to the side. “Yeah, I’m your girlfriend. But Mina’s just my friend, so it’s okay if I talk to her.”
“You don’t get to decide that,” Sana said, and there was no emotion in her voice. Dahyun swallowed anxiously.
Dahyun had no idea why she wouldn’t be allowed to talk with Mina. “But I’m not like, flirting with her or anything. I think it’s okay to talk to my friends.”
Sana’s expression seemed blank. “Give me your phone.” Dahyun wanted to say no, but she knew she couldn’t, so she handed her phone over to her girlfriend.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“Can I have my phone back now?” Dahyun asked the next day after Sana came home from work.
Sana frowned. “I’m so sorry baby. I accidentally dropped it at work and I needed to bring it to the shop. You’ll get it back once it’s fixed, okay?”
Dahyun frowned as well. She never knew Sana was clumsy, but anything could happen, so she nodded and let Sana bring her into her arms.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Dahyun moved her hips roughly against her girlfriend’s thigh, her own orgasm impending.
“I love you,” Sana whispered into her ear.
For the first time, Dahyun hesitated.
“I love you too.”
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Dahyun hadn’t gotten her phone back and it’d already been a month. She’d questioned her girlfriend about it but Sana shot down any accusations by simply saying that the workers hadn’t gotten around to fixing it yet.
Obviously Dahyun was sceptical, but she didn’t push the topic in fear of making her girlfriend angry.
Now that she didn’t have her phone to play on, she wasted her days by laying in bed and making up scenaeios in her head. She wanted to go out into the city, but Sana told her it was dangerous to leave, so she stayed inside.
And when Sana kissed her, Dahyun stopped feeling butterflies in her chest. Instead, she felt scared.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“You’re so beautiful, Dubu,” Sana sighed out against her lips. “I love you.”
Dahyu didn’t know what to say, so she said nothing. And when Sana repeated the words in her ear, Dahyun couldn’t bring herself to reply.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Dahyun emotionlessly set two plates on their table. Sana said something, but Dahyun didn’t hear her correctly and didn’t ask her to repeat it.
Dahyun fed herself.
“What’s wrong, Dubu?” Sana asked, but Dahyun didn’t answer until Sana moved the plate of food away from her.
“Why are you lying to me?” Dahyun demanded.
Sana looked shocked. “What am I lying about?”
Dahyun stood up and paced the kitchen. “My phone isn’t broken, I found it in your nightstand while I was cleaning. You lied to me.”
Sana shook her head, standing as well. She took Dahyun’s hands in her own. “Dubu, you misunderstood. I just got it back today and was going to surprise you with it tonight. You’re misunderstanding me.”
Maybe Dahyun was misunderstanding her. There was no reason for Sana to lie to her, right?
Right?
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“What show were you watching?” Sana asked.
Dahyun had turned the TV off as soon as her girlfriend entered the front door. “Nothing. How was work?”
“What show were you watching?” Sana repeated, hanging her keys up by the door. She stood by the window, covered with curtains to ‘keep bad people from seeing in’.
“Nothing,” Dahyun tried, but Sana wouldn’t listen. She snatched the remote from Dahyun’s hand and clicked the power button.
“Is this a romance?” Sana asked, clicking the back button to read the movie’s genre. “What did I say about that?”
Dahyun tried to grab the remote back, only to fail. “I don’t see why I can’t watch this, Sana. It’s not cheating on you.”
“It’s wrong, that’s why,” Sana said, turning to hold Dahyun’s face in her hands. “I told you already.”
Dahyun shook her head. “It’s just a TV show.”
“You’re mine, Dubu, do you understand? Mine.”
Dahyun stepped away. “I’m my own person, Sana. I’m not doing any harm by watching a TV show.”
Sana stepped forward, her anger clear on her face. She grabbed a handful of Dahyun’s hair and yanked it to get her attention. “You can’t speak to me like this when all I’m trying to do is protect you.”
“This is your fault!” Dahyun said, losing her composure. “You need to let me decide things too, Sana. This is too much now.”
Sana shook her head and snarled, “Don’t try to blame me for this, you’re mine, Dahyun.”
“Why are you like this?” Dahyun yelled, tears springing to her eyes. She was about ready to run out the front door and never come back.
“I’m like this because I’m worried, Dahyun.” Sana spoke, her voice softer than before. “I want to protect you from other people out there, Dahyun. Mina’s one of them, too. She hurts people; they all do.”
Dahyun wouldn’t listen. “There’s no way. I’ve known Mina since I was a child; she doesn’t hurt people.”
Sana shook her head sympathetically, her hands moving to cup Dahyun’s cheeks. “That’s why she wanted to meet up with you. I’m protecting you, Dahyun. You need to trust me.”
Dahyun shook her head. This had to be a lie; she knew Mina.
But why would Sana lie?
“You do trust me, right?” Sana asked, and she sounded so hurt, so worried.
“I trust you,” Dahyun said, though she wasn’t sure if she did.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
“I’m so close, Sana,” Dahyun moaned out, her back arching off the bed.
Sana held her waist tightly as she pumped fingers in and out of her. “I love you,” Sana spoke.
“I love you too,” Dahyun lied, and she was coming.
✮*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Dahyun’s bags were packed and she was getting ready to leave when she heard the front door open. She panicked; her girlfriend wasn’t supposed to be home for another few hours, which meant she was supposed to have enough time to leave before Sana discovered she had left.
“What are you doing?” Sana growled, and Dahyun looked up from the floor. She knew she couldn’t lie; she was surrounded by a few duffle bags and there was no other reason to have bags packed.
“I’m leaving,” Dahyun answered.
Sana looked furious. “You’re not leaving. It’s dangerous out there; you’ll never survive without me.”
Dahyun shook her head. “I spoke with a few friends and they told me that nothing has changed. I’m leaving today.”
Sana reached forward to hold Sana’s chin. “You’re gonna get hurt in the real world. You’ll regret this.”
Dahyun pulled away from her. “I don’t think I will. Goodbye, Sana.”
Sana tried to grab her arm but Dahyun yanked it away. She grabbed her bags and rushed to the front door, expecting Sana to try to stop her. Sana just followed behind her saying, “You can’t leave, they’ll try to hurt you, Dahyun.”
Dahyun couldn’t remember a time where her girlfriend had called her by her real name.
Dahyun’s hand rested on the door handle, ready to open it and leave. But she hesitated; what if Sana was right, and there would be people waiting for her outside the door? Sana took her hesitation as a sign to grab her and pull her back harshly, enough to make Dahyun’s shoulder hurt.
Sana looked so scared.
“You can’t leave, they’ll hurt you. They’re looking for you.”
But Dahyun knew it wasn’t true. She stepped away and swung the front door wide open, so hard it hit the wall and made a frame fall.
And nothing was different outside. The sun was shining brightly and the breeze wasn’t too cold; it was the perfect season for hanging with friends and for going on dates.
And no one was waiting with a knife to kill her.
“Dahyun,” Sana tried, and Dahyun turned to look up at her.
“You’ll regret leaving me. You”re nothing without me. You’re mine, Dubu.”
Dahyun shook her head. “That’s not true. It’s you who’s nothing without me.” She shrugged her bag further up her shoulder.
Sana shook her head. “Fine. Leave me. No one will ever treat you as good as I treated you.”
Dahyun raised an eyebrow and nodded. Sana was desperately grasping at straws now; she was weak. But Dahyun was strong.
She was all the way to the widewalk before Sana spoke again. “I love you, Dahyun. My door will be unlocked so you can come home once you realize what a big mistake you’re making.”
Dahyun gave Sana a smile. “I love you too. But I’m never coming back.”
And she left.
And while she lived with Mina, she was allowed to read, and write, and watch TV, and she wasn’t forced to cook and clean. And she was given as many kisses and cuddles as she could ever desire.
Dahyun was free, at the expense of losing the love of her life.
But she wouldn’t have it any other way.
