Chapter Text
After many healing sessions with Recovery Girl and various other doctors with healing quirks, Izuku was finally able to be discharged from the hospital. He still wasn’t back at one hundred percent, but he was close. He did feel sluggish and tired from all the healing, though.
He felt very awkward being led to his teachers’ car. Aizawa slid into the front passenger seat and promptly fell asleep while Yamada drove. Izuku closed his eyes and listened to the radio and Yamada humming along. The gentle vibrations from the car lulled him into a peaceful state. There wasn’t a single thought running through his brain for the moment. Soon enough, Izuku’s head fell against the car window, and he was asleep.
He woke sometime later slow and disoriented, the soft voice of his teacher reaching his ears. “Midoriya, wake up kiddo. We’re back at the school.”
He blinked his heavy eyes open, focusing on his teacher. He still felt disoriented, but the fog was slowly clearing up. Sluggishly, he unbuckled himself and dragged himself from the parked vehicle. “Alright kiddo, you can either head up to your dorm room or you may come to the teacher’s dorms and hang out if you would rather not be bombarded by your friends,” Aizawa said.
“I’ll be okay, Sensei. I want to see them anyway,” Izuku said a small, tired smile on his face.
“Alright, kiddo. Just remember that you can come to me or Yamada or any of the staff at any time. The invitation to come to the teacher’s dorms is open, too, if you get too overwhelmed or need a break. What you went through-”
“Thank you, Sensei, it means a lot.” Izuku cut him off, not wanting to think about any of that for the moment. Then he blushed and profusely apologized to which Aizawa said, “It’s alright, kid. Now go visit your friends, I’m sure they are bursting at the seams to see you.”
The three of them made their way into the student dorms, Midoriya standing in between the two teachers, soaking up their silent comfort like a sponge.
The common room was lively when Izuku finally walked in. He had stood outside of the door for a moment, bracing himself for the many many questions that were most likely to be asked. Brace himself for the tear fest that was bound to happen, knowing his friends.
Once the door opened, he was greeted by the sound of laughter and yelling. It helped lift that heavy weight that settled over his chest the moment he woke up in the hospital.
“Denki! You cheated!” Mina whined.
“I didn’t! I won that round fair and square!”
Suddenly, a silence fell over the room as Izuku made his presence known.
It didn’t last for long, soon enough, he had several bodies slamming into him with yells of his name, nearly knocking him to the ground. But Izuku didn’t feel anything but warmth and happiness. He felt safe in the arms of his friends.
“We missed you!”
“We’re glad you’re back, Midoriya!”
“Good to see you, are you okay?”
“We were just about to start a movie, wanna join?”
It was overwhelming, but not the bad kind. Izuku found that he really missed this. He had only been gone for two weeks, but those two weeks had felt like millennia to him.
Not to mention nearly 6 days of that was spent locked in a basement with the only real contact being his mother…
His mother…
It felt like a betrayal to her. Here he was so happy to see his friends when she would never be able to see any of her friends again. She would never be able to do anything again.
Suddenly, his mood fell and guilt hit him with a force so strong it knocked the breath out of him.
“Midoriya?” Kirishima started. “Are you okay?”
Izuku forced a smile back on his face. “Yeah, I’m sorry…just a lot on my mind.”
“It’s alright, we understand. We are here for you,” Uraraka said softly.
“Thanks, guys.”
And soon, they were sitting draped over each other in the common room watching a cartoon that Izuku forgot the name of. Izuku finally felt himself relaxing for the first time since he had been kidnapped. His eyes started to feel heavy as a sense of peace washed over him. He let his head fall onto Todoroki’s shoulder.
“Maybe we should take him to his room?” Someone whispered, Izuku was too tired to figure out who it was.
“Nah, I don’t wanna wake him, besides, we don’t have classes tomorrow, remember? Sensei’s said that it would be okay-” Izuku decided to not listen anymore and succumbed to his body’s request for sleep.
