Chapter Text
Corsica, France
The cold rain and the Mediterranean sea in the midst of December often provide solace to the Island of Corsica, even to those of the undead.
The island offers Isolation and peace to those who seek it, security and safety to those who wish to have anonymity.
A pale woman clad in dark garments slowly walks towards the balcony of her personal office to enjoy the view, her snow like locks are blown by the winds as she lights up a cigarette, taking in a deep breath that she usually didn't need to do. Each drag is a need, a salvation for contemplation. To anyone who may see the woman may think that she is in contempt or at peace, yet this thoughts are far from true.
Her mind is currently in turmoil and she is not happy about it at all, which can be seen as her hand trembles whenever she put the cigarette close to her cherry lips, if you would look close enough.
This caused her to cling to a vice that was never needed by her kind yet hold on to it as a means to mimic the motions of the living, pretending that she was once mortal like those others who set their dwellings in this beautiful island. A vice that no mortal should ever practice.
Living for a millennia never elevated her tremors whenever a hard decisions are to be made, and she knows it wouldn't start now. She is currently at a crossroad and she is afraid of the consequences of her futures decisions.
Her dilemma started when her dearest friend Angelique arrived at her office earlier this morning accompanied by a couple from the Olympic Coven; a coven lead by her loving dear friend Carlisle. Angelique clad in red as she usually does was conflicted while she presented them to her, knowing that their arrival was not a good sign, It never was.
Her beloved Angelique cannot be faulted with her conflict as she lead them to sit on the ebony couch, as she knew how her dearest friend clings to control whichever the situation and she knew their arrival brings imbalance to the peace her dearest friend holds dear.
The woman still greeted them though, with a warm welcome regardless of the surprise visit they had made and gestures to hear their stories.
Her female visitor was pixie-like, yet extremely beautiful. Her hair was deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction as she smiled gratefully before starting to tell the woman of their fears while holding the hand of her mate.
"An Immortal child is what they thought our coven had created."
A false accusation of a crime, the woman named Alice mentioned and the need of witnesses to attest on their behalf that no crime was made. The need to locate information was also imperative, as a proof that the child that was seen by one from the Denali Coven is a half-breed; mothered by a once mortal and fathered by a Vampire, a child created by love.
"All we ask is assistance to protect our coven, to locate any help that can assist us in providing that Renesmee is not a threat."
"The Volturi would also be gathering witnesses of their own my dear, if I did provide assistance to your cause what assurance could you have to ensure the safety of those I hold dear?" The woman questioned as she continues to observe the couple, after all it's not every day that his dearest friend Carlisle will send someone to compromise her sanctuary.
Alice then started to provide information of what gift she and his mate possess; Subjective precognition - the ability to see things that might happen, things that are coming, powerful yet hindered by a lot of situations as her premonitions will only surface once a possible concrete decision is made however the future is never set in stone which provides a problem to the woman at times.
Her mate named Jasper however has the ability of Pathokinesis; an ability to sense and manipulate the emotions of those around him, an ability that the woman was able to distinguish as soon as they had entered the room. The woman can feel his ability crawling to her porcelain like skin in an attempt to ensure that no outburst of anger will result from their visit.
Unbeknownst to him though, the woman's calm yet calculated demeanor is actually a result from millennia of control as his ability sadly provided no effects to the said woman.
Their plead was heard and the woman smiled sadly as she asked them to allow her to take the information they had provided and contemplate the next best course of action, not just for the sake of her own and those she values, but also to see what can be done to help them in their own quest.
And now she is presented with this dilemma.
The Volturi is a coven that instigated the law to ensure the safety of the Vampire world, lead by three Monarchs; Aro, Marcus and Caius. It is a coven that had won countless battles and wars from opposing coven who wished to overthrow their reign of power. Memories of those wars and battles they had are still fresh in her mind; a clear reminder that she once had the front row seat to these battles long ago.
If it was any other coven, the woman would have agreed to provide assistance without any doubt. She have the arsenal to give, as she created countless treaties to ensure any conflict between covens will be resolved without the need for the Volturi to intervene, an effort she made as a promise to her Sire long before leaving his care and claim the anonymity she cling to now, after all the woman and the Volturi have a history that runs deep like how blood runs through mortals veins. And if given a chance, the said woman would rather just forget this histories.
But with the Volturi's involvement and the visit of the couple in her safe haven, it's only a matter of time before the paradise she created for herself will crumble to dust.
"It's no use" she mutters as she exhale the smoke from her lungs before discarding and crushing the butt of the cigarette to the nearby ashtray on the table. Her final decision formulating in her mind.
"Nothing is ever of no use to you Pandora" Angelique who remained once the couple left earlier spoke, her British accent slipping into her words as she stood up from the dark velvet couch, while tying her blonde hair and starts to venture towards the balcony. "This is just a sign that you may need to face your past sooner rather than later." she continues before stopping beside her dearest friend.
"I'm still not ready, and I'm sure you are aware of that Angelique, millennia may have past but what I've left behind still drags me to the ground till this day. An inconvenience that's burns me till now." the woman huffs.
"Yet what course of action would you like to take? My dear if you really were afraid, you would have declined their pleas as soon as we entered the room"
"It's foolish isn't it Ange, years of seclusion and hiding in the shadows to keep myself from their grasp yet as soon as Aro touches Alice my location will be revealed like a ribboned gift" as the words left her lips her hands start to tremble once again but tries to cover it with a force laugh. "He won't stop in his pursuit this time around, I have no more cards to show to sway him otherwise"
"Ce salaud d'homme would need to face me first" The blonde woman growled, eyes darkening as her accent hardens before looking at the other woman. "Even his guard won't be able to stop me from tearing him apart once I willed it" Smiling with conviction as she starts to imagine how she would tear apart the said Volturi Monarch, giving her satisfaction at the thought.
Pandora showed a genuine smile at the thought before looking back at her friend, seeing her protective nature in full effect. She would never regret turning Angelique when she met the said woman years ago, after all her friendship with her and her mate provided her a family that she craved to have once upon a time.
Through Angelique she gained a bond that was once crushed by her own mistake, a mistake that she still blames herself through this day. And as she wrap her arms around the said woman to calm her and herself down, she knows that she needs to grasp at control once more. This dilemma has already presented itself and the best way to ensure control at the situation is to act upon it as soon as possible.
"Assisting Alice and Jasper would be the best course of action for now and the rest will follow, the Amazon Coven would be the most helpful coven to contact to get any information to assist them. I'll make sure to let them know of your arrival to avoid any more surprises." Pandora whispered finally deciding on a choice.
"And with the Volturi?" Angelique inquires.
"Work in the shadows as usual until the time my whereabouts is revealed once more. I will contact Sebastian to join you, I'm sure your mate is aching for another adventure" Pandora replies without any doubt before fully smiling at her last comment.
"And if our interference is needed?" The blonde woman inquired further.
"Then act as what is needed of us to ensure no innocent lives would be taken, I'll make sure to linger close by and once this situation is done with I will ensure to hide myself once more."
"Very well, I'm sure the seer had already seen your decision so I'll join them now so we can prepare for departure" Angelique concludes before putting a kiss in top of Pandora's head as the said woman said woman releases her from their embrace.
"Ange" the woman calls out to the retreating blonde. The said woman looked expectantly after opening the door. "Be careful, all of you"
"Don't fret my dear, we will." Angelique replies before winking and closing the door as she leave.
The road to take had been decided and Pandora only wish that her decision won't affect to a multitude of heartbreak and pain. She hopes that this time her decision won't result to a mistake anymore. After all, it's been a while since she's seen Aro and as the years pass she's certain that the Monarch is no longer who he was before.
She is certain as she changed as the time flies, so did he yet at the back of her mind, she knew if there's something that won't change from the man, there could only be one thing that she can be sure of.
How many years may past, he would still be power hungry as she knew him before, whether Pandora denies it or not, she's aware that this false accusation to the Cullen's was just an excuse to execute Aro's main goal. To get the gifted individual of the Olympic Coven. This was not the first time he eradicated an entire coven to get who he wanted, and she couldn't help but shiver from the truth.
As the sound of the breeze and rain starts to takes over once more, Pandora grabs her phone as she contacts a specific number she knows too well. She really does hope this was not a stupid mistake.
"Bonjour mon cher" A silvery voice said in greeting.
"Sebastian j'ai besoin de ton aide" Pandora pinch the bridge of her nose before setting her sights to the sea once more. "Contact Kachiri and visit them, Angelique and some friends will be on route to you soon.."
