Chapter Text
Do you know what it’s like to wake up to someone you really like? And be able to do nothing but sit and stare? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. But, Luca didn’t. I mean before. Which is why now, Luca has been doing a that for a good couple of hours.
He wonders if today is a good time to confess, then he wouldn’t have to worry about it later. But… if Alberto gets weirded out by it… wouldn’t that also suck? ‘Cause then he wouldn’t want to be around him anymore.
He thought about it for hours, letting the morning slowly creep by, and he knew one person who would have answers.
Grandma.
Disentangling himself from Alberto, he quietly jumps of the building, letting the trees break his fall. When he doesn’t hear his name being called, he then runs to the water and swims as fast as he can, not liking the feeling in his stomach, that was wishing him to be closer to his best friend up in the tower.
“Grandma?” Luca calls out, reaching his home.
“Come in Luca. We have much to discuss.” Grandma says, with a knowing smile.
_______
Currently, Luca wants to go drown in a hole. Not that he can, but he still feels like it. Humans always says stuff like that when they are super embarrassed, and that’s what Luca is. Super embarrassed. So he does the next best thing and swims towards the surface. Not to land, but just up.
His grandma told him many weird but important things. Like how he was created. And stuff about fish mates. But mostly how he was created. That was important, she had said. So no one forces you to do it. As Luca floats there, at the surface, Luca has a very weird thought.
Can he do that with Alberto?
He’ll have to ask him.For now, he should be getting back, he was pretty sure it was no longer morning.
______
“Luca!! Where on earth were you?” I-I was looking everywhere for you, don’t you know how worried I was??.” Alberto yells. He was trying to hide the fact that he was crying, but luck was not on his side because Luca already knew.
“Ah, sorry Alberto, I had to go see grandma, to talk about, uh, stuff.” And just like that, Luca gets reminded of the topic he was close to forgetting.
“What stuff?” He asks, slightly calming down.
“Um.. hahahaha nothing really important, you know normal things your grandma tells you?” Luca should not have said that. He knows it now, it’s to late, it was said, and he saw Alberto flinch and start to get worked up again. Sigh.
“Sorry, I should not have intruded. That was rude of me.”
“No no no no no! I’m sorry it’s just-“ complicated? embarrassing? Good grief.
“Never mind, I’m going back-“
“Wait!!” Alright Luca, it’s now or never.
“What is it Luca?” Yeah, Alberto is definitely hurt.
“It’s just, uhm.” Why couldn’t he say it!?!!?! Meanwhile Alberto just scoffs and proceeds to climb down.
“Alberto wait!!” Luca exclaims, running to the side of the building.
“Alberto go.” Alberto says back, stomping to the water.
“But Alberto!”
“What Luca?”
“I- I love you!”
