Chapter Text
You instantly know that this isn’t real. You’ve had enough strange dreams and twisted nightmares lately to recognize one; though you have to admit it’s the first time one of your dreams allows you to become aware that you’re still asleep, instead of doing everything it can to make you believe you’re awake.
Strange. You’d say it’s for the best, but something in your gut tells you it isn’t.
Chatter and laughter resound behind you, and you turn around, only to be met with the sight of five little brothers, having a grand old time in the living room. Without you.
You’re about to come inside, but when you take a step forward, your body hits an invisible wall and your head starts to hurt. What the?
Why won’t that stupid dream just let you join them?
For some reason, you know why.
You can’t love others properly unless you properly love yourself.
Don’t you love yourself? You thought you did, but… Ah, you guess you never considered it long enough. Not without brushing it off and thinking about something else…
But you can’t ignore the crushing pain inside your chest now.
Will you ever manage to love them like you should?
And what about them—will they ever manage to love you like they should?
They should, they really should. After everything you’ve done for them…
After everything you’ve done to them.
Looks like you can be aware of more than your own state of consciousness, after all.
They should love you. If they don’t, who will?
If you don’t love every single one of them like a good big brother would, who will?
You can’t know if you don’t try.
With a sigh, you turn on your heels, away from the illusion.
It’s time to wake up, now.
