Summary:

He bolts up and reaches for his phone, looking for the contact, immediately calling it. It rings, somebody picks up.
"Please Dream you have to help me."  "Velvet, what do you mean?" Dream asks, concerned. "I was being dumb, we got in a fight and I said something bad and he ran. I don't know what to do he doesn't have his glasses and it's raining and what if he slips or doesn't see a car coming his way, I can't lose him. Please," Velvet exclaims, tears falling heavily.
"Velvet It's okay, you won't lose him. I'm coming soon, just wait and we will look for him together, okay?"  "Okay," Velvet whispers, slipping to the ground.

Or

Ant & Velvet get into an argument and Velvet thinks he ended their relationship for real.

Work Text:

"I can't believe you think that I would do that, To you of all people," Velvet screams. "I don't know what to believe anymore. You stay out all day and then don't come home until the middle of the night, you keep telling me your working but you won't even tell me where you work," Ant says, tears streaming down his face. "So you think I'm cheating on you?"  "I don't know. You never tell me anything anymore, I get wanting privacy but I'm your boyfriend for crying out loud," He screams, taking off his glasses and wiping his eyes.

"Why should it matter? It's none of your business what I do when I'm not home,"   "But maybe I should know if you don't want me thinking your cheating on me,"  "God I've told you multiple times, I'm not cheating on you. Why do you have to be so stupid?!" Velvet screams, immediately covering his mouth. Ant lets out a sob, "Is that what you think of me, Red?" "No, baby I didn't mean it I-"  "I don't care, I'm leaving. I hope you're happy," Ant says, walking out the door before Velvet can speak once more.

Velvet drops to his knees, putting his face in them while tears drop down his face. Small tears turn into heavy crying and soon he is sobbing, almost louder than the rain outside. He gets startled by heavy thunder and looks up, noticing glasses sitting on the table beside him. They belong to Ant. He picks them, fingering rubbing the sides. That is when the realization hits him, just like a brick.

He bolts up and reaches for his phone, looking for the contact, immediately calling it. It rings, somebody picks up. "Please Dream you have to help me."  "Velvet, what do you mean?" A knock on the is what makes Velvet jump and get up fast, hoping it's his love. He opens the door, It's Dream. He sighs and turns, falling back on the floor, hugging his knees. "How long ago did he leave?" Velvet looks up, "20 minutes maybe, I can't remember." Dream frowns, "Okay, how about I stay here just in case he comes back and you go look for him?"  "But what if he doesn't want to see me? What if I ended it for real?"  "Come on, you guys have been together for three years. An argument isn't going to end it," Dreams says, grabbing Velvet's shoulder. "Okay," Velvet whispers, nodding.

Dream helps Velvet stand and grabs his arm, dragging him to the door, whilst putting an umbrella in his hand. "Here take this, do you have your phone?" Velvet nods, "Okay, text me when you find him," Dream says walking back to the couch and sitting on it, grabbing his phone out and putting it on the couch cushion next to him. Velvet leaves, closing the door gently behind him. He sighs and starts walking down the sidewalk, head down looking at the ground.

Velvet keeps walking, what feels like hours just turns out to be 25 minutes. He continues on, jumping slightly at every thunder that can be heard. Whilst walking he gets lost in his thoughts and starts to think about the night's past events, soon feeling the tears start up again. That is until he hears it, a slight sobbing, it's muffled because of the rain but it sounds almost clear. Velvet looks up, turning his head to look in every direction. It takes a while but soon he spots him, sitting on the curb head on his knees, sobbing. Velvet lets out a relieved sigh and starts slowly walking towards him, opening the umbrella quietly.

Once he reaches his boyfriend, he angles the umbrella above his head and stands in front of him. "I'm sorry, Cutie," Velvet whispers, gently caressing his hair. Ant looks up, eyes meeting with the other. He cups Ant's cheek, wiping his tears away. Velvet plops down next to him, still holding the umbrella above his babe. "I didn't mean it, I was just mad. I'm sorry," Ant gently lays his head on Velvet's shoulder, tears still falling. "It's okay. I'm sorry I accused you of cheating on me, I was angry and was basically missing you."  "That's also okay but I was actually working, to get you this," Velvet pulls a small box out of his pocket, holding it between the both of them. Ant turns slightly, "What is it?" He opens it, Ant gasps, looking straight at him.

"Is this-?"  "Will you marry me?" Ant looks up at him, eyes widened. Suddenly tears start falling from his eyes, Velvet frowns and cups his face, "What's wrong? Did I get it wrong? I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry, I just wante-" Ant cuts him off with a kiss, arms wrapping around his neck. The kiss is strong with love and soon they both fall slightly, Ant's back hitting the ground. Velvet holds himself up still confused, then Ant starts giggling and Velvet swears he fell in love all over again. Ant giggles into the kiss, arms still around the other's neck. Velvet pulls them up and soon they are both sitting up. Ant in Velvets lap and umbrella on the floor, both of them getting drenched.

"Yes," Ant whispers into Velvet's neck, holding him tightly. "What?" Ant looks up, "Yes, I will marry you," Ant smiles, whilst Velvet sighs in relief and laughs, hugging Ant once more. He pulls back to kiss Ant once again and grabs his hand, gently slipping the ring on his finger. He helps him up, grabbing the umbrella in the process, holding it above them both. Also intertwining their fingers, bringing up Ant's hand to place a gentle kiss on it.

They walk home slowly, never letting go of each other, hearts filled with love. Once they get home Dream is still there sitting on their couch, "Oh thank god, I thought I told you to text me when you found him?,"  "Sorry, we were busy and I, fortunately, forgot," Ant lifts his hand, smiling, "We got engaged," Dream's eyes lit up, "Oh! Congrats guys, I'm happy for you!" He looks at Velvet and whispers, "I told you, 3 years." Ant looks over confused, hand still gripping Velvet's tightly. "Okay Dream, the problem is solved so I think it's time for you to go home. I want to spend some alone time with my fiance," Velvet says, opening the door. Dream gets ups, halfway out the door he turns and says, "Once again congrats, even after massive arguments and living in different states you both still managed to stay together."  "Thank you dude, I wouldn't have had the courage to even ask out him if it wasn't for you," Velvet says hugging him slightly, never letting go of Ant's hand.

Once Dream leaves Ant pulls him into another kiss, soft and full of love until they pull away and Velvet drags him upstairs whilst saying, "Come one Cutie,  we've had a long day and I think It's time for bed." Ant giggles, following after him.
