Rain could be heard beating down on the roof today. It pitter-pattered outside, the sky darker than it should have been in the middle of the afternoon. Sitting at the desk in his childhood bedroom, Akiteru was writing a paper for class. Well, trying to write a paper for class. The weather wasn’t exactly motivating, and he could easily just do it the next day, or the next day or the next day…
His girlfriend was lounged back atop the gray comforter of his twin bed, her back towards him. Her bangs flitted to one side of her forehead as she scrolled through nothingness on her phone. In the rather clean room, the leather jacket thrown on the floor every time Saeko visited seemed out of place, but was sort of a comfort. By the front door, Akiteru always offered to hang it up, but she always declined. It sat on the pristine floor of his room as a reminder of how different they were.
Akiteru preferred hosting Saeko at his house rather than him at hers. It’s not that her house wasn’t comfortable, it was, but perhaps it was too comfortable. Saeko’s bedroom at home was always a mess. Her desk and nightstand were littered with empty cans, and ruined makeup. There were both clean and dirty clothes strewn all over, even hanging atop her closet door. Shoved into the corner of her room beneath the window was her unmade bed. Akiteru swore she only used a thin sheet and pillowcase when he visited. So yeah. He definitely preferred his own house to hers, even with just their rooms. He didn’t even want to think about her beloved brother.
His paper was getting nowhere. Akiteru hadn’t made any forward progress really at all this afternoon. The signal had been waving in and out, and it was now growing weaker every few seconds, so he shut his laptop and leaned back in his desk chair. Later he would blame the weather and the signal for his lack of progress. He addressed Saeko, “Wifi crapping out for you too?”
“Yup.” She said blankly, dragging her finger down her phone screen, in an attempt to rid it of the never ending loading symbol.
“How about we go to that ramen place your brother keeps talking about?” He suggested, hoping she’d agree to this. With the current weather, they’d normally opt to spend the afternoon in, but Akiteru needed a change of scenery. He knew Saeko was content with just lounging around all the time, but these days, it seemed like that was all they did.
She dropped her phone onto the bed, and rolled over to face him. First her face was bored as she looked at him, and then a grin came across it with an idea. “That’s all cool and dandy with me, Aki, as long as-“
“You’re not driving.” He deadpanned, already knowing what she was going to say. He might love the woman, but anytime she drove he thought he was going to be launched right out of his seat.
“What, you not trust me or something?” She sat up and pulled on the sleeve of his sweater, teasing him.
Just like most guys, Akiteru could easily be persuaded by his girlfriend. But driving was the one thing he held strong on, not wanting to pray to God at every turn.
“It’s not that I don’t trust you,” He defended, rubbing his hands together in his lap. “It’s that I don’t trust your driving.”
Saeko gave him a blank stare from her spot on the bed, but he knew he’d won the battle. He smiled and swiveled over to where her jacket was thrown on the floor. She stood and allowed him to hold it up for her to slip her arms into.
Turning to face Akiteru in the chair, Saeko ran her hands along his shoulders and cupped his cheek. “If I’m not driving, I’m not paying.” She declared.
Akiteru smirked and stood, towering over her. He loved when she got all feisty. “Fine by me, sweetheart.”
She cringed. “Oh please drop the stupid pet names. You sound like my brother fawning over the volleyball manager.”
He laughed and didn’t push any further, instead leading her out the bedroom door and downstairs to the foyer.
By the door, Saeko had to lace up her boots, so Akiteru took advantage of the extra minute and went to inform his brother that they’d be off.
Outside the living room door, the sounds of a paleontology documentary could be heard playing. As badass as Kei might’ve thought he was, he sure was weird about dinosaurs.
Akiteru slid open the living room door, and was surprised to see his brother and his best friend cuddling on the couch. Tadashi’s head lied in Kei’s lap, and Kei was running his fingers through his hair.
Something about the way Kei’s glasses were unfolded and upside down on the coffee table told Akiteru that it wasn’t from his own doing. He also acknowledged that Kei probably couldn’t see the TV with how bad his prescription was, but he didn’t seem to mind.
Standing behind the couch, neither of the boys noticed Akiteru’s presence. He thought back to all of the nights he and Saeko had spent on that couch, in some similar position. Of course they watched more riveting content, but it was the same nonetheless. He remembered being a teenager, and the excitement of all of the firsts. God, was this their first time cuddling? Were Kei and Tadashi even together?
Reveling enough in his own head, Akiteru cleared his throat to announce himself behind the pair. And boy, was the reaction funny.
His brother immediately turned around, eyes wide glaring at Akiteru. Tadashi got up from his position on the other boy, a blush rising to his cheeks.
Oh God. Maybe Akiteru should’ve just left a note.
The documentary got paused, and now the pair just sat looking at Akiteru, waiting for him to say something.
Akiteru had never known his brother to be an affectionate person. Hell, not even a nice person. With feelings. But the way he’d allowed Tadashi to get so comfortable and close with him completely diminished any idea of swagger Akiteru might have seen in him before.
Stood there awkwardly, a moment passed and nobody said anything until Kei spoke up.
“How long have you been home?” He asked. His voice sounded shaky, like he was nervous.
“Uh, Saeko and I have been here all afternoon, guys.” Akiteru clarified, scratching the back of his head. “So, you two..?”
But Kei didn’t care to finish his brother’s thoughts, instead interrupting, and speaking like he was stating a fact. “You told me you were hanging out at the Tanaka’s house.”
It was sort of funny, Kei trying to act all tough. Especially after being walked in on cuddling with his best friend. His boyfriend?
It was understandable though. Akiteru and Saeko had been walked in on their fair share of times, though for them it’d been in far more intimate positions than just cuddling on the couch. Ryū and Yuu were always way more dramatic when they walked in on him and Saeko, so if anything, Kei and Tadashi should be grateful it’s just him.
However, having any sort of private moment invaded felt intrusive, and perhaps even humiliating. This was especially true for Kei in this moment, as his ‘I’m too cool for everything’ persona was diminished for his brother.
“No, I told you I was gonna pick up Saeko and come back here.” Akiteru stated.
“Oh. I guess I missed that.” Kei avoided eye contact as he said this, but continued, “And I told Mom last weekend, so don’t go acting like you know some big secret, okay?”
The redness of Kei’s face was making it really hard to take him seriously. If he had told their mother, then why hadn’t he told Akiteru? And how long had they even been together?
Akiteru observed how far Tadashi had moved away from Kei. He pulled his knees up to his chest, gave Kei a look, pressing his lips thin, and then looked back at Akiteru. It was pretty obvious that both of them wanted this to end as soon as possible.
Of course now this is when Saeko entered. Her timing was always amazing. Her blue eyes looked between her boyfriend and the two boys on the couch. She didn’t seem to pick up that this was an awkward moment, keeping her one track mind on getting ramen. “Ready to go, babe?”
She got no response.
“Uh, babe?” She took Akiteru's arm.
“They were uh-” Akiteru started, only to be cut off.
“Cuddling. We were cuddling. Can you two leave now?” Kei finished for him, wanting to be literally anywhere else but here right now.
“Oh.” Saeko said, as she shifted next to her boyfriend. She knew what was taking him so long now.
Since her brother didn't get any action, the closest she’d gotten to walking in on him with a girl, was walking in on him spooning a pillow. Although she was pretty sure she heard him whispering for Kiyoko in his sleep a few nights ago.
Nonetheless, this was a whole new ballgame for her.
So what if they were cuddling, it’s not a big deal. It could’ve been much worse for all parties involved if it had entailed any more.
Saeko had been walked in on plenty of times in her highschool career. Let’s just say her younger brother was subject to most of them, and had now to build a habit of knocking on her door. There were far too many incidents for young Ryū’s eyes that he’d tried to build a habit of knocking on her door, as to not interrupt any sexual misconducts.
The silence among the group seemed to last forever, as it was clear the pair on the couch wanted to be left alone. There was nothing that really could be said other than: ‘Oh whoops, didn’t know about your apparent relationship with your bestie, please don’t have wild sex on the couch once we’re gone!’
Letting her appetite take the wheel in her mind, Saeko put a hand on her hip and smiled, ready to break the tension and get the hell up and out of there. “Well boys, we’re gonna go get some ramen across town. Feel free to go right back to your canoodling.”
It was sometimes painful how straightforward she could be. Akiteru rubbed the back of his neck, cringing as Saeko slipped out the door. On the couch, Kei’s face grew impossibly redder, and Tadashi shrunk down with embarrassment.
Akiteru now stood alone with his brother and ‘best friend’ in the living room. He awkwardly smiled at the pair, who were sitting still, eager for him to get out.
“I’ll just be uhh going now. With Saeko.” He stammered, weirded out at the idea of leaving them in an empty house. “Won’t be back for at least an hour so don’t be getting up to any troub-”
“Oh my God Akiteru we’re not gonna have sex, can you just go with Saeko now?” Kei glared at him, speaking in an annoyed tone. He really must’ve wanted some alone time with Tadashi.
“Yep. Got it. Behave yourselves.” Akiteru said as he turned and left.
As the door closed he could hear both of them release a breath, and the TV turned on again.
Standing by the door, his girlfriend turned to look at him as he put on a jacket and shoes. Saeko looked at him, and studied his face for a moment. “You really didn’t know about them?” She asked, looking at him through her choppy bangs.
“I guess looking back on it, there were clues, but no.”
When he thought about it, there really were some obvious signs he could’ve picked up on in the past few months. Tadashi had been coming over more often, and the door to Kei’s room was always fully shut, sometimes with music playing in the room to block out noise. Instead of coming home right after practice like usual, Kei had been going other places. Akiteru assumed he was finally becoming more social, hanging out with, as he said, ‘just the first years from the volleyball club’ or ‘two idiots he met at a training camp’.
Though, there was also an incident last week. Kei had come home later than usual, claiming that practice had run late. What he hadn’t realized though, was that the high collar of the jacket he’d put on didn’t quite cover the purple marks along his neck. Akiteru had ignored it, remembering all of the strange volleyball-induced injuries he’d acquired over the years.
So perhaps Akiteru was just oblivious to their relationship. He’d just never really thought about the chance that his brother might be gay, or at least be interested in men. Unlike himself, his brother received many love confessions from girls at school, and the occasional manager of another volleyball team. He seemed to attract all sorts of girls. However, looking at it from his new angle, he was sure Kei would’ve dated one of these girls by now, or at least have had a crush on one of them.
Now at the restaurant, Saeko was telling him about the time she had gotten drunk with the volleyball coaches at training camp. Although interesting, Akiteru couldn’t help but be worried about what Kei was thinking right now. He didn’t want his brother to be worried over what he thought of them, or to think he was budding into their relationship when he may try to give him advice.
Right now though, at this moment, Akiteru would just nod and smile at what his beautiful girlfriend was telling him, and needless to say, the ramen was delicious.

It was one of those nights where Akiteru just couldn’t fall asleep, no matter how hard he tried. He’d been tossing and turning for what seemed like hours before checking the time on his alarm clock.
2:16 am
Damn, was that late already?
His forehead was sweaty, blonde hair sticking to it. It's been so hot and humid lately, making falling asleep ten times harder. He pulled the thin sheet back, and navigated his dark room and hallway, then into the bathroom. He squinted after flicking on the harsh light.
He’d been planning to stay the night at Saeko’s, but had just been too tired. Driving home he’d almost fallen asleep at the wheel with how tired he was, but now he seemed to be wide awake.
Since he was awake, he thought he might as well be productive. His biology paper didn’t seem to be writing itself, and he didn’t have to worry about waking anyone up. His and Kei’s mom had left for the weekend. Something about a business trip? Akiteru had tuned it out anyway. And Kei was such a heavy sleeper that Akiteru could scream at the top of his lungs and he wouldn’t so much as move in his sleep.
In the mirror, Akiteru analyzed his face. When he was a teenager, he hated the way he looked. His ears stuck out too much, eyes too far apart, and red bumps spanned his cheeks. A few years later, now an adult, he’d learned to appreciate himself more. He’d asked the barber to leave his hair a bit longer, which hid the tops of his ears. He grew into his eyes. It also helped that Saeko thought his eyes were beautiful, as she’d told him many times. His acne had also faded with age.
It seemed he still pulled the short end of the stick though. At sixteen, Kei was tall, taller than Akiteru would ever be, and was a fantastic volleyball player. He got chased after too, for his looks, by girls he’d never even acknowledge. As a teenager, Akiteru would’ve jumped at the chance for a date with a cute girl, but Kei… well he was already occupied in that department.
Despite his slight jealousy, Akireru liked to think of it as a balance. He was the nicer, more charismatic brother, and Kei was the sarcastic little shit.
The same sarcastic little shit who was embarrassed to be seen with his boyfriend. Again, the balance.
Akiteru remembered when he got the courage to ask Saeko out. Members of the Karasuno volleyball team had been teasing him about it whenever he stopped by, and it felt good to tell them he’d finally done it. Even Kei gave him advice about asking out Saeko, though he’d just brushed it off at the time. What did his romance-repulsed little brother know about dating? Apparently more than he might’ve thought, especially after that day a few weeks ago.
Since then, Akiteru had been remembering specific moments he’d shared with his brother in the last few months. One where he’d teased Kei about not having a girlfriend yet, and then Kei got more defensive than usual. If only he’d known. There was another time, when he’d made Kei come with him to pick up flowers for Saeko, and he could’ve sworn he heard him say, ‘Tadashi prefers tulips’. There were so many small things, that if he’d maybe he’d been a better brother, or been more observant, that he would’ve noticed.
If Kei didn’t get so embarrassed about his feelings, maybe Akiteru would’ve asked him how Tadashi was, or ask more questions about their relationship in general. But he hadn’t. Anytime he even might’ve alluded to it, Kei would scoff, or simply leave the room.
It was odd. If someone asked Akiteru about Saeko, he could go on and on for hours with hour smitten he was, which was perhaps why Kei never asked.
Getting out of his head, Akiteru flicked the light off and left the bathroom. In the hall, he had to pass his brother's room to get to his own. He must not have noticed before, but Kei was talking to someone.
And there’s only one person he would be talking to at this time of night.
Akiteru stopped outside the closed door, listening for a moment. There were two distinct voices, one definitely belonging to Tadashi, and it didn’t sound like it was over the phone.
They were just whispering, giggling in fact. He’d never heard Kei giggle before, or at least not in forever. He felt creepy listening at the door, but it’s not like anyone will ever know he was there.
He wondered if their mother knew Tadashi was staying over. Staying the night. Presumably in Kei’s bed. Because of how uncomfortable and fidgety Kei got about his feelings, he didn’t know if their mother had told him not to. She’d always gone a bit easier on him.
When Akiteru was a teenager there were a few rules about having girls in his room. First was keeping the door open, and second was no sleepovers. His mom was insistent to enforce them on him and any girls in his room, but again with Kei, she went easier. Kei was more rebellious than Akiteru ever was, and will just close the door anyway, and their mom doesn’t say anything.
Akitery wonders if it’s because she doesn’t know the rules for him.
The main concern with straight couples is that they’ll get pregnant, and that obviously wasn’t going to happen with two guys.
So maybe she’s questioning the usual boundaries of parents.
Even so, if Tadashi was staying over when she wasn’t home, it had to mean he knew it wasn’t allowed.
And Kei probably thought he was such a badass for it. What a bad boy, breaking the rules. Breaking the rules to cuddle with his boyfriend. Yeah, total bad boy.
Akiteru was surprised Kei didn’t even mention he was hosting Tadashi over, led alone for a sleepover. Akiteru had been up in his room listening to music, so it’s not like he could’ve heard if the front door was being opened. Even if Tadashi had just entered through the front door, he would still imagine him climbing the tree near Kei’s window. That would make it ten times better.
Right as Akiteru stepped away from the door, he heard a distinct whisper between the pair. Then something other than just giggles and muffled sounds (gross).
“I really love you, Kei.”
“I love you too. Tadashi.”
Aww, now isn’t that adorable.
Despite the heat, Akiteru could hear the boys shuffle closer to each other in the room. There was definitely no extra futon set up in there.
This was definitely creepy now. Kei was so uncomfortable talking about his feelings, and with Akiteru now knowing he and Tadashi love each other, he felt invasive. Tadashi seemed like someone who could spill all of his feelings to just anyone, but Kei… Kei wouldn’t even talk to Akiteru about his feelings.
Akiteru took a step away from the door and sighed.
So they loved each other, no big deal. Akiteru told all his girlfriends in high school that he loved them. But he only said it because he thought it was what they wanted to hear, not because he actually did. His brother wasn’t one to say that to just anybody though. He barely even told their mom that he loved her.
This made Akiteru wonder how long they’d been together. He and Saeko didn’t say they loved each other until about four or five months ago. Akiteru needed to find out how long the two had been together.
That was the sort of thing that made Akiteru question how good of a brother he was. Even someone like Kei would tell his brother about a relationship, so why hadn’t he? Did he not trust him, was he annoyed by him, was he overwhelmed?
He turned back into his room. Stepping in, he realized it was abundantly hotter than the hall and bathroom.
“Jesus Christ,” he muttered, fanning himself. He couldn’t imagine being under sheets with another person with the temperature like this.
He leaned over his bed to open the window. It creaked, and he cringed as it opened, hoping the sound wouldn’t alert the boys.
Even if it did, the breeze that wavered in was worth it. Akiteru snagged his laptop off his desk, and settled atop his bed.
As he opened the lid, the brightness level made him look away for a moment. Were things this nastily bright during the day? His eyes adjusted, and he opened one of many rough drafts for the paper he’d given up on earlier that night.
He put on light piano music to accompany him. It was quiet enough for him to enjoy, and drown out the sound of his typing, and hopefully not enough to alert Kei.

Laughing at the cheap restaurant down the road from his house, Akiteru sat with a study group. Exams were coming up, so he and a few other people from his physics class were invited to a study session at a small restaurant. Though, it turned out to be more of just a hangout.
He’d never gotten to know any of his classmates too well, but the group he’d gotten together with seemed pretty cool.
Last week, this girl Mei, with her black hair pinned back, had strode up to him saying she was organizing a study session for their class to cram before their finals. He was pretty sure they’d never spoken before, so he was caught off guard by the up front offer. But sitting bored in his bedroom the night she’d mentioned, he decided to take her up on the offer, and was glad he did.
He walked there. The weather had been growing nicer, and cherry blossoms were in bloom.
He thought he’d like to bring Saeko out to look at them sometime soon.
Their table had decided to do a family style way of eating tonight, so there were different serving trays of dumplings, rice, beef, all of the sort. A girl sitting adjacent to Akiteru, Miko he thought her name was, was passing some curry over, and accidentally spilt the hot plate on the front of his shirt.
It wasn’t a big deal, it truly wasn’t. The shirt he’d been wearing was an old long sleeved polo that he’d probably bought back in high school, but he could tell Miko was embarrassed.
Her cheeks visibility burned, and she quickly took to a napkin and started to help him clean up. She whispered little “I’m so sorry”’s as she dabbed at his shirt.
It did burn a bit, but Akiteru didn’t want her to feel even worse, so he just laughed it off. He took his own napkin from under his plate and took over for her, cleaning up his shirt the best he could. He felt everyone at the circular table gawk at him, so he put his hands up in a defensive motion and smiled. “It’s no big deal guys, crummy shirt anyway.”
The table all let out a breath, thankful he wasn’t upset about it. He took another napkin, even though he knew it would stain.
“Actually guys, this might be the perfect excuse for me to get going.” He stood, and slung his book bag over his shoulder. “Besides, it’s getting late.”
The girl who’d spilt on him seemed to panic. “Please don’t leave because of this, it was an accident I swear!”
His eyes widened, and he held up his hands in defense. “I’ve actually needed an excuse to leave. As much fun as this is, I need to do some real cramming tonight.”
Some others at the table nodded, and the girl sat down.
Akiteru then stood, draping his brown book bag over his shoulder. He pulled out some money to pay for his portion of the meal. “Thank you for the invite. I wish everyone well on their exams.”
He turned around before hearing a ‘You too,’ and left the restaurant.
Walking down the street, it was dark, yet the streetlamps were just starting to turn on. The sidewalk wasn’t crowded, thank God. Akiteru needed to process how awkward that’d been.
‘I need to do some real cramming tonight’? They must think he’s such a loser. He hadn’t mentioned Saeko around them, or that he had a girlfriend at all, so maybe they would think he liked the girl who spilt on him. Yeah, they’ll totally think that. That’s fine.
He sighed in frustration, and a streetlamp across the street flicked on. He processed more words he’d sputtered out. ‘I’ve actually needed an excuse to leave’? They must think he’s so rude. Mei had so graciously invited him, a nobody from her physics course, out, and he’d just left. Left after being embarrassed, wanting to get out of there as soon as possible.
‘I am such a wimp.’ Akiteru thought, and he walked faster as he approached his street. This happened all of the time. He’d just run from mildly embarrassing situations, just to go and feel bad about himself. He wished he was more bold like Kei, and quick to make a comeback. Or more like the Tanaka’s, who were both too outspoken for their own good.
Reaching the front step, he pulled the key out of his pocket and stepped inside. Two pairs of familiar running shoes sat in the entryway, there was soft music coming from the kitchen, and the smell of something sweet filled the air. After shedding his shoes, he stepped down the hall and into the kitchen to investigate.
Upon entering, he was mortified.
For the time of year, it was already hot outside. That combined with the oven made the kitchen almost unbearable to stand in, which was why he was surprised to see his brother and his boyfriend making out against the kitchen island.
Kei was leaning against the counter, Tadashi up on it, heavily invested in each other. Tadashi had one leg wrapped around Kei’s body, and Kei’s hands gripped Tadashi's hair and neck. Their clothes were messy, just from baking, having spilt flour and milk when measuring. The sweat from practice earlier that day probably didn’t help either. For a ‘don’t touch me, I hate intimacy’ kind of guy, Kei sure seemed to be going for it.
“Oh my God.” Was all he said, and the pair jumped apart so fast he swore they’d made some sort of record.
Kei now stood against the oven, leaning his hands behind him. The other boy slipped down from his seat on the counter. Both of them blushed hard, Tadashi less so than Kei, and Kei making a poor attempt to hide it with his hand. Kei leaned over to turn off the stereo.
He looked up to where Akiteru stood in the doorway. “Well?” He accused, eyeing his brother for his rude interruption. He was expecting his brother to scold him, after all, he knew what they were doing wasn’t an activity for the kitchen. To him, Akiteru always seemed to be the perfect brother when it came to rule following, and was still so awkward about him and Tadashi.
“Decided to come home early.” He said stupidly. That truly was it. Usually when Kei and Tadashi hang out, they’re locked up in Kei’s room. They never really hung out in any other places, especially after the incident in the living room a while back.
“Why?” Kei asked him, frustration clear in his face. Could Akiteru at least have texted him? Whenever Akiteru texted him, he used an obnoxious amount of emojis, none of which make sense with what he’s saying, but Kei would much prefer that than being walked in on.
Still standing in the doorway, Akiteru looked down to his faded green polo, holding up the stain on his shirt. There was an awkward silence now, as Kei looked between his brother and boyfriend, figuring out what to say next.
As awkward as his intrusion seemed to make the pair, Akiteru sure did want some shortcake. It was Kei’s favorite dessert, and their mom used to make it all the time when they were kids. It’d been so long since he’d had it, especially since enrolling in university. It was a wonder, some things never change, like Kei’s favorite dessert.
When he looked between the pair, Akiteru could tell he and Kei were having a wordless conversation. They gave each other looks, Tadashi tilting his head and Kei trying not to budge.
It was something along the lines of:
He needs to leave.
He’s your brother.
And..?
And then a sweet look from Tadashi, convincing Kei. He was the only one who could do that.
Fine.
So Akiteru stayed.
It didn’t take long for the shortcake to finish baking. It needed to cool down before being doused with whipped cream and strawberries, so the boys cleaned up. They washed the dishes and wiped off the counters, and at the slight glimpse he got, Akiteru swore he saw a flour handprint on his brother's ass.
It made him wonder how far they’d gone.
He knew it was inevitable; two horny teenage boys were bound to be doing things, but his little brother? His unaffectionate, romance-repulsed little brother? It was weird for him to think about it. He and Saeko already had, they had in the first month or two of being together, but Kei and Tadashi? He didn’t even know how long they had been dating for.
Lost in thought, Akiteru came back to reality as a plate of shortcake was placed in front of him by Kei.
He really wanted him to get out of there huh?
The shortcake was of course delicious, although it was more strawberries and cream than actual cake. Also known as the only right way to eat it in the Tsukishima household.
Akiteru ate quickly, wanting to give the boys a chance to be alone. Tadashi was nice, he always was, and engaged him in conversation, but it was obvious that all Kei wanted was for him to leave them alone. He put his plate and silverware in the sink, and with a small smile from Tadashi, left the pair alone.
Right as Akiteru left, he heard Kei say a ‘finally’ to Tadashi, and got a laugh in response.
Upstairs in his room, Akiteru got out his bookbag again and started to cram for his finals. At least he could tell his classmates that he was true to his word. He connected headphones to his phone, and listened to whatever was playing.
He sure did want more shortcake, but rushed out of there to avoid getting looks from his younger brother.
In the kitchen, Tadashi took his spoon and fed Kei a spoonful of whipped cream and strawberries. There wasn’t any cake left on the plate.
“Oh you have some-” Tadashi began, standing up from the barstool and bringing his thumb up to the corner of Kei’s mouth, wiping off some cream.
He locked eyes with Kei as he leaned above him. Kei looped his arms around Tadashi’s middle, drawing him impossibly closer. Tadashi drew his finger into his mouth, and slowly licked the cream off of it, teasing Kei.
Kei’s eyes darted between Tadashi’s eyes and lips, and he snaked his arms higher on the other boy's back. As Tadashi felt himself being pulled in, he brought a finger to Kei’s mouth to stop him.
The boy looked up at him impatiently.
Tadashi giggled. “Hi,”
Smirking, Kei laughed in reply, and Tadashi moved his finger away to cup his face. “Hi?”
“Hi,” Tadashi said again, then leaned down to finally give Kei what he wanted.
Going up on his tippy toes, Tadashi leaned down and pressed a light kiss to Kei’s lips. Kei was obviously eager for more, and Tadashi allowed him to indulge for a moment before drawing back.
He slowly drew the glasses off of Kei’s face, and set them on the counter beside them. It made their movements far easier, without having to worry about the glasses fogging up. He leaned in again, this time matching Kei’s eagerness, wanting more. He felt Kei’s tongue against his lips, and opened them, allowing for him to gracefully slip his tongue in. Tadashi moaned in the back of his throat, knowing Kei could feel it.
Kei pulled away, resting his forehead against Tadashi’s. He brought his hands up around to cup Tadashi’s neck, rubbing circles with his thumb on the cusp of his shirt. Both of their eyes were still closed, but there was no point in opening them anyway. He was blind as a bat.
It was endearing when Tadashi would slip off his glasses for him, because it just meant more. As endearing and sort of heartwarming as it was, it then presented the problem that he couldn’t see. He couldn’t see that happy look on Tadashi’s face as he leaned in close, and fluttered his eyes shut. It’s not like he needed to see. Kissing involves more touch than anything else.
The touch and feelings made up for the lack of sight. The feeling of Tadashi’s warm breath fanning his face, the feeling of his little giggles before he would lean into a kiss. Even the feeling of butterflies rising in his stomach every time they kissed, and hearing all of the sounds Tadashi made, just from his touch.
Kei leaned in again to clasp their mouths together, Tadashi accepting. They stayed like that for a few moments, just with each other. Soft and slow. As fun as it was to explore further, both of them appreciated the moments when they could just take in each other. Nothing fast, just sweet. Just love.
Just love, until Akiteru is back downstairs.
“Oh hey guys, I just wanted to grab more shortcake.” He spoke as he entered the kitchen.
They didn’t jump apart like earlier, instead they leaned back and loosened their grips on each other’s bodies and clothes. Kei pursed his lips in annoyance at Akiteru, and both him and Tadashi stared at the intruder.
Even the ever-so-polite and pleasant little Tadashi seemed annoyed at Akiteru’s interruption.
“I’ll just,” Akiteru spoke, making his way to the fridge, and quickly making himself a humble plate of shortcake and berries. “Well. Behave yourselves-”
“Get out.” They said in unison. Surprised at both of them speaking up, Akiteru took his plate and quickly shuffled out of the kitchen.
He heard them laugh together as he made his way upstairs. Back to studying.
4
Only a few days after the shortcake incident, Akiteru was holed up in his room after exams, and heard his brother come home from practice.
He’d brought Tadashi with him, because of course he had. Akiteru could tell by the way he hadn’t heard footsteps dashing up the stairs right after the front door was slammed shut.
His exams had gone well, or at least he’d hoped they had. He felt good about them, and Saeko had reassured him that he did well. A text from the restaurant study group had wished him luck, so he did so in return. Either the exam was stupidly easy, or he’d misunderstood it entirely.
Sometimes he wished he was as naturally smart as Kei was. In school, Akiteru put in his entire efforts just for average marks. His brother on the other hand picked everything up naturally. He and Tadashi would breeze through their homework everyday and ace exams without much studying.
Though now, Akiteru had developed solid study habits in order to perform at his best. Saeko was his biggest cheerleader, always assuring him he would do well.
Now in his room, he lies on his bed with the windows open. The humidity had cooled off recently, making the house bearable to be in. He was reflecting on his exams, still rethinking the answers he’d put in days ago.
From downstairs, he heard laughter. Since when did they hang out somewhere other than Kei’s room? Akiteru had observed a routine: they get home from volleyball, finish homework, eat dinner, and then Kei walks Tadashi part way home. This wasn’t everyday though, but at least once or twice a week. It’s like they relied on each other, and not just in a relationship kind of way. It’s like they needed to be near each other to function.
It’s not like that was inherently bad though. Akiteru remembered the first month or two with Saeko, when they were like that. Then again, he didn’t know how long his brother had been with Tadashi for. They could’ve been dating longer than he and Saeko had been for all he knew.
The laughter downstairs grew, and it was strange because he could tell it was Kei. Nobody ever got that moody little shit to laugh louder than a mere snicker under his breath.
Akiteru clicked his door handle open, to listen to what they were saying. He really shouldn’t make a habit of this.
“Okay, so how do we get this one?” He heard Tadashi ask.
“Simple, you have to plug it into this formula and then figure out which answer makes sense in the context.” Kei said, kind of sweetly.
“Oh, duh.” Tadashi said in response.
Akiteru forced himself to shut his door and quit listening. He was getting hungry though. It was pretty much dinner time, and He’d been so antsy all day that he’d barely eaten.
He clicked the handle open again, and made his way downstairs. There was a step on the stair, the second to last one, that always creaked when stepped on in the right place.
So of course, it creaked when he got there.
With that, the laughter coming from the dining room stopped. Shit.
There was no going back now, so he walked onwards, sliding the kitchen door open. He was greeted by 2 stares from the table. Kei and Tadashi sat across from each other, both with their marked up math books and work pages. Their school uniforms were tattered from the day, and Akiteru imagined their sweat from practice didn’t help.
“I didn’t know you were home.” Kei said, a blank look of annoyance on his face. God was that just his resting face?
“I finished my exams yesterday, so I didn't have class.” He declared honestly, making his way to the fridge. He examined what they had for leftovers: nothing good. Mom wouldn’t be home to make dinner for a while either.
Kei and Tadashi had returned to their homework, silently writing down answers. He shut the fridge door, and turned back towards them. “I think I’m gonna order takeout, do you guys want anything?”
“We’re good.” Kei said, then at perfect timing, his stomach grumbled.
Akiteru gave him a look. “Don’t be petty.”
“Fine.” He said, maliciously. “Whatever you want then.”
Akiteru knew how to play this game. He ignored Kei’s words and looked at Tadashi. “I’m getting ramen, would you like some, Tadashi?”
Fortunately for him, Tadashi also knew how to play this game. Despite dating Kei, he knew how he got sometimes, and he and Akiteru just had to work around it. “Yes please.”
Satisfied with the annoyed look on Kei’s face, Akiteru stepped off and out, grabbing his wallet on his way out the door. He would get Kei something, and Kei knew that he would get him something, so there was really no reason for him to be annoyed. He just enjoyed sulking for whatever reason, and Tadashi was a saint for dealing with it.
However, Akiteru knew Kei was different around Tadashi. He noticed the looks they always exchanged, and how they could communicate with almost no words at all. He noticed how Kei’s eyes lit up when Tadashi entered a room, and how he’d sulk if it were anyone else.
The few moments he’d witnessed of his brother alone with Tadashi made him seem like an entirely different person. He was so sweet, and gentle, and his remarks were less mean-sarcastic and more flirty-sarcastic. He seemed more himself, more vulnerable. For whatever reason he’s afraid for others to see him in that state. Ever since the day Kei had come to his volleyball game and found out the truth, he hadn’t been the same.
Which was kind of a stupid fucking reason.
At least in Akiteru’s humble opinion.
He could understand being upset for like a week, but Kei wasn’t even in highschool yet, and he acted like someone close to him had died.
So all because of that, because Akiteru wanted to appear as the cool older brother, Kei was the person he is today. Great.
So he left to get ramen.
And he watched Tadashi eat it gratefully. Kei was silent and he and Tadashi carried on friendly conversation. He asked about volleyball, and Tadashi asked about his exams.
Kei sat in silence, spitefully eating his ramen.
He would get over it.

In the long summer days that were still upon them, Akiteru sure did appreciate the cool air at the gym. He’d gone in hope of improving his serving technique.
Tadashi had been more than enough help when explaining his tips and tricks for the perfect jump serve. He’d gotten so good at it that he was put on the starting line up, and other teams whispers echoed of, “Watch out for his serve” and “He’s got a nasty jump float”.
So he was grateful to have a sort of mentor, rather than the extremely unhelpful neighborhood league.
He’d borrowed Kei’s headphones, and was listening to songs he’d heard on the radio a million times, but still didn’t know the words to. The headphones had been sitting on the kitchen counter, which was odd, considering Kei almost never left them out of his sight.
Nonetheless, he had, and Akiteru was able to borrow them (hopefully) without Kei’s notice. They were nice headphones, a little worn in, but it made sense considering he wore them everyday. He wondered if Kei was one of those kids who wore their headphones around their neck at school, thinking they were cool for it.
There’s no way he wasn’t.
He got done with his practicing, after getting a few solid serves in at the end. He felt good about it; progress was made and will continue to be. It’s not like he was talented enough to play in university, but it was still fun to keep up as a hobby. Afterall, his brother was so talented at the game naturally, and he had to keep up. Akiteru wouldn’t be surprised if Kei went on to play in university.
On the car ride home he put the headphones around his neck, and thought about teaching his future children how to play volleyball. His future children with Saeko. They’d talked about it before, agreeing on names and different rules (the rules mostly suggested by Akiteru) and how they wanted to be able to grow and change with one another. Akiteru didn’t understand how some people couldn’t want a person to be with. He’s so smitten with Saeko it’s hard to see how anyone wouldn’t want something like that.
He then wondered if Kei and Tadashi discussed similar things.
The street of his house was in view, and he made the turn in and pulled over to park across the street. Another car was parked on the driveway, meaning his mom was home. Thankfully, this also meant that the lights that showed through the front windows was her cooking dinner, and not whatever his brother and boyfriend were doing a few weeks ago.
God that was awkward.
He played with his keys, and unlocked the front door.
A shout came from the kitchen. “Aki, is that you?”
He shrugged off his shoes and put the headphones around his neck. “Yeah mom.” He shouted back, and made his way to the kitchen.
There were bags of groceries on the island counter, and his mom had her hands pressed against the counter, evidently taking a breather from bringing them in from her car. Her graying blonde hair was thrown up into a twist and held in place with a clip, and she was visibly tired from work.
“How was work?” Akiteru asked as he took to a bag to help out his mom.
She shook her head and opened up a bag. “Same old, same old, never changes.” Before giving her son a chance to reply, she asked him in return, “How was the gym?”
He laughed as he thought of his response. “Sweaty.”
“Oh?”
“I’m improving on my serves though. Little Tadashi’s advice was pretty helpful.” He told her.
“Well I’m glad. He sure is a good player huh? For such a timid kid…” She trailed off.
“He sure is. He’s such a nice guy, can’t imagine why he hangs out with Kei.” He stated, coming off meaner than intended.
His mom swallowed a laugh, and lightly hit him with the back of her hand. “You can’t say things like that about your brother. He may not be the most pleasant, but Tadashi makes him happy.”
He smirked in response. “And Tadashi is the only one who can do that.”
She smiled, and held it for a moment before replying. “Yes he is.”
They finished putting away groceries, Akiteru mostly helping his mother with things meant for the top shelf. As she’d said, “Your damn father’s genes gave you that. If only he’d stuck around long enough to see you grow up.” All five feet of his mother frequently made comments about the boys’ father, and how he’d basically left her with the kids. With the consequences of their actions from years and years ago. She was almost envious that her sons’ looked so much like him, even if much of it was their height. They’d gotten her blonde hair, Kei her bad vision, and Akiteru her kind spirit.
The headphones still hung on Akiteru’s neck, and his mother stopped him on his way out of the kitchen, and leaned him down to observe the headphones. She smirked and sighed, “You better get these back to your brother before he notices.”
He noticed them again, and slipped them off from around his neck. “Oh, thank you for reminding me,” she nodded. “And yeah, I’ll go put them in his room before he gets home.”
“Alright honey,” He turned around again to leave before she stopped him again. “Oh! Is Saeko coming by anytime soon? I miss her.”
Somehow his own mother liked his girlfriend more than himself. “I think I’m seeing her later this week?”
She nodded. “Okay good. You can leave now.”
He smiled and nodded. “Okay.”
Since Kei wasn’t supposed to be home from practice for another hour, Akiteru slipped the headphones back on to listen to what he was listening to before, at the gym. He made his way up the stairs and down the hall into Kei’s room.
He’d expected the lights to be off, and the room unoccupied, but boy was this so much worse than the kitchen-shortcake incident a few weeks before.
Little Tadashi, or maybe not-so-little Tadashi, sat on the bed, head thrown back and leaning back on his hands. His legs were spread apart and bare, and Kei sat on the floor between them, on his knees. Sucking dick.
Oh how Akiteru wished he hadn’t put on those headphones on his way upstairs. The music must have drowned out the sounds of… that in the hallway.
Why today. Just why.
Akiteru stood like a deer in the headlights in Kei’s doorway. The boys noticed the intrusion right away, and they ripped away from each other as fast as humanly possible. Kei had leaned back and wiped his mouth on his sleeve before standing up. His glasses were off, probably lost somewhere in the room, and Tadashi threw a blanket over his lap.
Kei’s eyes widened. “What the fuck, Akiteru? Get out.”
Why did things like this happen to Akiteru? He didn’t want to think about his little brother having sex. He liked to think that sex was something between himself and Saeko, and nobody else.
Still standing in the doorway, Akiteru leaned his body down and set the headphones on the bookshelf near the door. On the bed, Tadashi looked dead embarrassed, which, of course, made sense given the circumstances.
Unfortunately, Akiteru could relate. When he and Saeko had gotten more comfortable with each other, they’d began to experiment with different things. Completely natural right? It’s completely natural and fun and everything at once, until you’re interrupted. By her little brother.
Not one of his finest moments.
He imagined Kei wasn’t nearly as embarrassed as Tadashi, or if he was, he wasn’t showing it. His whole badass aesthetic wasn’t fading away anytime soon. Not even being walked in would let the facade slip.
Tadashi shifted uncomfortably. Kei took note, and wanted his stupid brother out of there as fast as possible.
God this was so bad. Akiteru locked eyes with Kei, though Kei probably couldn’t tell, and said, “We’ll talk about this later.”
And the door slammed shut. Akiteru quickly dashed across the hall into his own room, and shut the door behind him. He leaned against it, slipped down to the floor and processed what had just happened.
‘So Kei and Tadashi aren’t at practice, like they’re supposed to be.’ He thought. ‘And I guess they’re sexually active. Okay.’
He sighed.
He wondered if either the two of them had received a ‘new and improved’ sex talk, beyond just where babies come from. He was worried, just as a good brother should be. Contracting any sort of STD was the last thing any teenager wanted, and it was more likely in their case.
By the way Kei had reacted, which was even worse than usual, he could guess that this was all new to them. It was sort of sweet; they were all of each other’s firsts. Akiteru and Saeko had both experienced all of the firsts with other people, but then again with each other. Though it was still a magical experience, he wondered if it would’ve been more thrilling, or more special, if it had been with each other.
He’s not gonna lie, he and Saeko have pretty good sex.
It had been awkward at first, just like he’d expected, but they’d gotten into a rhythm. They changed things up, tried new things, and now it was fantastic. Saeko was the more experimental one of the two, wanting to push the both of them past their limits, and get more and more of each other. It was almost intimidating to Akiteru. He had this beautiful bold girlfriend who would tell him everything she wanted straight up.
And now his brother was going through all of his firsts, with his first.
So later, after Kei and Tadashi had somehow gotten away with telling Mom that they’d gotten out of practice way early because, and according to them, ‘Some of the other guys needed to work on serves so Ukai kicked us out of the gym.’ Yeah, smart excuse.
That she somehow believed. She really did baby Kei. That or she just had a soft spot for Tadashi.
And Tadashi left, without much conversation with Mrs. Tsukishima, which was unusual. She asked Kei if he was in a rush to get home, and he just shrugged in response.
Kei left to abandon his mom and brother in the kitchen. Typical. “I’ll go talk to him, see what’s up.” Akiteru told her, and leaped upstairs.
He knocked at Kei’s door, though it really didn’t do anything now. He heard a quick ‘yeah?’ from inside, and entered.
Kei was lying down on his bed, the windows blowing in cool air. Akiteru took a spot in his desk chair. “So.”
“So?” His brother sassed in return.
“Ya know, for someone who was just in on some action, you’re awfully moody.” He smirked as he delivered.
Kei eyed him, seeming serious. “Please just knock. Like you did just now.”
Uh uh, he did not get to say that. “In case you hadn’t noticed, you and your little boyfriend were supposed to be at practice. Mom probably knew you were lying about it too.”
“Okay fine, maybe we just wanted to be alone, okay? Is a little privacy that bad?”
“It is when you’re gonna be doing things like that without Mom knowing Tadashi is over.” Akiteru took a breath. “I’ve been in your shoes before okay? I know it gets exciting, and heated pretty fast, but you need to be more responsible about it.”
His brother dropped the smug look, and seemed to be taking the advice graciously.
Akitery continued. “No more skipping practice okay? And just be… generally responsible about it. Like consent and stuff.”
“Yep. Got it.” Kei looked uncomfortable now, but at least he was listening.
There was a pause, and Akiteru spoke up again. “You guys haven’t like…” He trailed off, hoping Kei knew what he was implying.
He shook his head and scoffed, crossing his arms. “No.”
Akiteru nodded his head awkwardly. “Okay.” Another break. “Just know that you can always talk about this stuff to me-”
“My straight brother.”
“Well yeah. I might be straight but I like to think it’s nice to confide in another person instead of just the internet. Or porn.”
“Okay.” Kei said simply, cringing that his brother thinks he goes to porn. Not that he doesn’t not use it as a resource, but still.
“And, and you can’t be a little shit about it okay?” This caught Kei off guard. Akiteru was finally standing up for himself. “If I’m helping you out you gotta be at least a little nicer to me.”
“Yeah okay.”
Akiteru nodded, hoping for more elaboration, but didn’t get any.
“I’ll just, uh, leave you to it then.”
And he shut the door on his way out and collapsed atop his own bed.
At least now that was over with.

Like the good brother he was, Akitery was observant. He noticed things. He couldn’t help it, it was just one of those traits he had, and he’d been noticing more and more things about his brother lately.
He’d been coming home later, claiming practice had run late.
After returning home, he’d book it up to his room, or the shower.
And he seemed strangely happier. At least happy for Kei Tsukkishima. So there was less backtalk and sass.
There was only one explanation for this.
He was getting some. Or giving some, Akiteru didn’t want to assume anything. Or maybe they were just getting more adventurous. Either way, he didn’t want to ask.
So now, on a Friday evening in Miyagi, he was at a convenience store not far from his house, and was buying condoms. And lube.
Should he get the flavored stuff or not? Important decisions. Strawberry? That could be fun. He ended up leaving with 2 packs of condoms and a small tube of lube. He didn’t want to look too crazy.
Saeko had invited him over that night, and that meant it would probably lead to places. Her parents were gonna be out, and her brother would be at Yuu’s house for the night. Thank God. Ryū could be fun, but sometimes he wouldn’t take the hint that they wanted him gone.
Needless to say, Akiteru wanted to take precautions.
Upon getting home, he noticed a note on the fridge from his mom.
‘I’ll be out with my coworkers tonight,
behave yourselves.
Love, Mom’
Good thing he bought extra condoms. Not only was Kei probably sexually active now, but he was probably planning something with Tadashi tonight.
So another awkward sex talk was due. Akiteru’s life just kept getting better and better didn’t it? In all honesty, he thinks Kei should be grateful for how cool of an older brother he was. He had covered for him and Tadashi, gave him advice, and is now supplying for the two of them. He was such a good older brother.
At that moment, he heard the door open, and Kei ran upstairs right away. He was by himself though, and thank God for that. Akiteru didn’t want to walk in on any more… more.
He ran upstairs and knocked lightly on the door, carrying a pack of condoms and lube behind his back.
“Come in.” He heard Kei say.
Upon entering, Kei didn’t look up from the spot on his computer, and his leg bounced in a rhythm under the desk.
Aww, he was nervous.
“I got a little something for you.” Akiteru said, leaning back and forth in the doorway.
Kei continued his scrolling on… Twitter? Was he really on Twitter right now? He didn’t look up. “What is it?” He asked boredly.
Akiteru kind of leaned his head forward, hoping Kei would at least look up at him, but he didn’t. He set the box of condoms and lube on the desk.
The scrolling stopped, and Kei shut his eyes and processed.
“You didn’t.”
“Oh yes I did.” Akiteru smirked and crossed his arms.
“I, we don’t need the...” Seeming embarrassed to even say the words, Kei gestured to the lube and condoms.
Akiteru looked at him confused. “You really should be using protection, dude.”
“Neither of us can get pregnant, so why does it matter?”
Shaking his head, Akiteru sighed, and took a spot on the bed. “You really haven’t done any research, have you?”
Kei looked at him like he was the stupid one. “It doesn’t take a genius to know a man can’t get pregnant-”
“But you can get STDs. For you and Tadashi, it’s especially important that you’re using protection, not just for yourself but for each other.”
“Oh,” Kei nodded his head. “Makes sense.”
“Yeah. So be smart.” He pointed to the condoms and lube on the desk. “And be careful. I know it’s all new and exciting, but make sure you get proper consent.”
“Well obviously I’m gonna get consent.” Kei sassed, acting like it was an obvious statement.
“Good. You just gotta make sure neither of you are being pressured. Just because you’re together doesn’t mean you have to do it every time.”
Kei nodded. “Yep, got it.”
“I figure you’ll be the.. the um… the more…” Akiteru painfully tried to string together words. “The dominant one?”
Kei pursed his lips, weirded out by his brother's words. “Okay.”
It didn’t help that Akiteru kept rambling. “Or, or not ya know? It’s not like you have to be, Tadashi seems to be well off in that area if you’re not and that’s okay too right?”
“Oh my God stop talking!” Kei rose his voice, now tired of his sexual health talk with his brother. Sure many of the things he’d mentioned were helpful, like preventing STDs and getting proper consent, but he really did not need to bring up who was gonna be on top. Kei himself didn’t even know who would be.
Laughing rather awkwardly, Akiteru said a quick, “Alright.” And clapped his hands together for whatever reason. “Mom left a note too, so she won’t be home until late. And I’m going to Saekos. Please just behave yourself-” He backed into the doorway and got cut off.
“Got it!”
The door shut swiftly, and Kei was now thankfully alone. He swiveled back in his desk chair, and stretched his legs out in front of him. He got a text from his brother saying he was leaving for Saeko’s.
He might as well text Tadashi.
To Tadashi Yamagucci <3: Hey.
From Tadashi Yamagucci <3: hey ;)
To Tadashi Yamagucci <3: I’m home alone tonight.
From Tadashi Yamagucci <3: is that an invitation or..?
To Tadashi Yamagucci <3: Come over. My brother finally won’t interrupt anything.
From Tadashi Yamagucci <3: be there in a few babe ;)
Kei’s heart fluttered. He hated hearing his brother address Saeko as babe, but being called it felt adoring.
And Tadashi was soon there, and Kei led him upstairs. They did the awkward ‘hi’ before kissing, and Kei’s glasses were swept off his face. Tadashi must’ve seen the supplies laid out on Kei’s desk, because he went all in.
He played with the hem of Kei’s shirt while nibbling on his neck. Kei let out breathy words of ‘fuck’ and ‘you’re so good at this’ out. He soon reached down to take his own shirt off, and reached for the hem of Tadashi’s.
Tadashi was leaning over him, greenish hair sweaty and sticking to the back of his neck. He kneeled in the space between Kei’s spread legs. They locked eyes, and Kei asked, “Is this okay?” and Tadashi nodded.
Soon more clothes were off, and both were eager to let off some steam. Kei reached to his desk beside the bed and grabbed the lube and box of condoms while Tadashi kissed down his stomach.
Looking up, Tadashi stopped what he was doing and watched Kei fumble with the box, trying to get a condom out. “Already?” He teased. “I thought we were just getting started?”
The way he was positioned above Kei’s body, how his hair stuck to his forehead and how he was leaving kisses down Kei’s torso made him at a loss for words. He blankly stared at the gorgeous sight of Tadashi’s body.
Not thinking Kei was even paying attention, Tadashi climbed down, and right next to his ear spoke, “I’m just teasing babe, do you want to?”
Their arousals grinded together, and in that exact moment Kei let out a rather loud moan in pleasure. Embarrassed, he brought a hand to cover his mouth.
Tadashi moved his hand away, and whispered into his ear again. “We can just keep doing this too, I’m alright with that.”
Finally responding, Kei shook his head. “No, I- I want this. I do. I just don’t know how we should go about it.”
Tadashi leaned their faces closer, and rubbed their noses together. “Well why didn’t you just say so?” Kei didn’t reply, so Tadashi leaned over to grab the supplies behind Kei. “How about I’ll go on the bottom, and tell you what I want?”
“But don’t you have to prepare for that?” Kei asked, nervous and concerned.
“Who says I didn’t?” With that, Tadashi sat up, and started shuffling his pants off, and Kei mirrored him.
Both sat in their boxer-briefs now, Kei unsure of what to do next. “I can put it on you if you’d like.” Tadashi suggested, holding a condom between his fingers.
Kei had been zoning out, staring at all of Tadashi. “What?”
“The condom? Are you sure you’re okay with this, Kei?”
Kei shook his head, leaning up to kiss Tadashi. “I want this more than anything. My stupid nerve is just getting to me, but I want this, and I’m okay with it.”
Straddling Kei’s lap, Tadashi wrapped his arms around Kei’s neck, and pressed their foreheads together.
“Put it on me.”
“Okay.”
So they shuffled around, got situated. They undressed each other too, laughing over some things, and letting it be awkward, because after all, it was their first time, and it wasn’t going to be perfectly romantic.
Afterwards, Kei collapsed beside Tadashi on the bed. They were both breathing heavily and sweating, smiling wide.
“We should definitely do that again sometime.” Tadashi claimed.
“Definitely.” Kei agreed. He’d gotten over his nervousness after a few minutes, and was now all giggles.
A beat passed as they both pretended to be interested in the ceiling.
“Well, are you busy right now?”
Kei pretended to check a watch on his blank wrist. “We’ve got all night.”
