Daichi’s phone rang, breaking the calm silence of the study session that him, Kiyoko, and Koushi were having. The three of them stared at the phone before Daichi picked it up, saw the caller, and immediately sighed. Koushi snorted and Kiyoko’s lips twitched. Before Daichi answered the call, Koushi tapped his shoulder.
“Dude!” Koushi said. He snorted. “Put it on speaker!” Kiyoko was nodding along. Daichi knew it was a losing battle. He answered the call and put his phone on speaker. The three of them leaned in closely.
“Hello Tanaka,” Daichi said. “What’s up?”
“H-hey Daichi! I need your help, it’s an emergency! Like, really, really emergency!”
“T-Tanaka,” Daichi said, pinching the bridge of his nose. “What happened?”
“Uh… can’t tell you that.” The three of them heard some shuffling and another voice that sounded suspiciously like Asahi’s.
“Where are you?”
The other end of the line went silent. “S…somewhere.”
“Who’s with you. Don’t lie.”
The other end of the line was silent for a bit. “Uh… Noya and Asahi?”
“Dear lord…” Daichi mumbled to himself.
The captain sighed as he watched Koushi and Kiyoko hold back their laughter. They caught his gaze and curled into themselves, laughing harder.
“Tanaka Ryuunosuke, I swear to-” sirens, along with two voices, one that was definitely Asahi’s could be heard in the background. “Is that the police?”
Koushi was leaning back on his chair, silently crying of laughter and Kiyoko was wheezing and banging the table, her other hand clutching her side. Daichi glared at them. It only made them laugh even harder.
Daichi heard the sirens at the other end of the line get louder. “Jesus, take the wheel!” Tanaka shouted. They could hear Asahi’s panicked cries loud and clear from the speaker. In the background, they heard Nishinoya, who sounded like he just woke up.
The other two cackled and wheezed even harder. “I can’t breathe!” Koushi wheezed and Daichi heard Koushi fall out of his seat and onto the floor.
“No Tanaka, do not make Asahi take the wheel! Tanaka!” Daichi shouted. He really needs a new team. They could hear car tires screech over the other end of the line. Daichi dragged his hand down his face. He could feel the white hairs growing. Koushi must have noticed, because he let out a squawk of laughter.
They could hear tires screeching before Daichi yelled “TANAKA RYUUNOSUKE, I SWEAR TO- you know what? Have fun explaining this to the police. Goodbye.”
With that, Tanaka’s (along now with Asahi and Nishinoya’s) shouts were cut off abruptly as Daichi’s finger pressed the ‘end call’ button.
The captain sighed heavily. Koushi was rolling on the floor, wheezing and crying from laughter. Kiyoko, on the other hand, was taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm down. It wasn’t working.
Daichi dropped his head and his phone onto the table and sighed again.
