Chapter Text
Haato was nervous. In a few minutes, she was going to start her first stream in her new apartment. She had everything she needed to stream and double and triple checked the soundproofing, but she still felt nervous.
:”If you want, Haachama can stream instead,” Haachama offered. Their struggle for control over their singular body was quite the fiasco. Unfortunately, some of their internal conflict moved onto their channel in the form of multiple streams where they would be in and out of control. When the whole situation was sorted out, Haato and Haacahama started sharing the channel and streaming on different days.
Thanks for the offer, Haachama, but I’ll be fine, Haato took a deep breath. It was just a chatting stream. Haato had been on break for a week as she prepared to move and she posted publicly on Twitter that she would be moving for school, so she decided to return with a chatting stream just to talk about what was going on and her schedule for the foreseeable future.
“Alright,” Haato muttered to herself as she finished setting up OBS. After a couple more clicks, she was live on YouTube.
She smiled when she looked at her chat. Despite just having started, a substantial amount of people were already watching and interacting with the chat.
Among the emojis that were being spammed by the members, she could see some conversation happening.
“Oharuuju!” Haato pressed the hotkey on her steamdeck to switch screens. “I missed you all!”
Haato Virus: Welcome back!
KFP ASMR Connoisseur: Welcome back Haato!
Pinky: AHH HAATO! WELCOME BACK!
Ollie Ch.: Senpai!
EatingMikeTysonsAss has donated $100 USD
“Hi Ollie!” Haato waved in real life knowing that it wouldn’t transfer to the live 2D.
“Thank you…” Haato squinted as she slowly read the English letters, “eating… Mike… Tee… Tyson’s ass… for the superchat!”
EatingMikeTysonsAss: Success
Shoto: Kusa
Pinky: Kusa
KFP ASMR Connoisseur: Kusa
Haato Virus: Kusa
Ashyboi: Kusa
Korone Ch.: Haato-senpai no!
“D-did I say something yabe?” Haato asked. She opened up DeepL and typed in the username.
“NO!” She screamed out when she read the translation. “I AM NOT EATING MIKE TYSON’S ASS! I’M SORRY!”
The shriek was followed by chat spamming the kanji for grass along with several emojis.
“Anyways,” Haato cleared her throat. “I made it to my new place safely! The school year hasn’t started yet, so the streaming schedule won’t change much then, but I’ll probably be streaming more in the evening when school starts.”
Haato Virus: That’s good! How’s Australia?
Pinky: Australia? How did you get that?
Haato Virus: Her Twitter. Where else?
“Actually something came up, so I’m still in Japan, but I’m in a really special place, apparently,” Haato explained. YAGOO had approached her about UA only a day after she made the tweet about going to Australia.
Brainage: So youre in that part of Japan
KFP ASMR Connoisseur: That part?
Brainage: There’s a certain region of every country where people with superpowers or quirks exist
Brainage: The information isn’t exactly hidden from the public eye, but governments don’t go out of their way to alert the populace.
Pinky: Yeah. We don’t get many visitors from outside the region.
“Yeah. It’s pretty weird, but it’s alright. I’m excited to start school.” Haato said. “There are superheroes here, though! I ran into one the other day! It was so cool!”
Smallmight: Which one did you run into?
“I think he said his name was… All Might?” Haachama tried to remember the name of the hero who helped her through the walls of UA High. “He looked like a big deal. I really need to do my research, though.”
Smallmight: yOU RAN INTO ALL MIGHT
Smallmight: HE’S THE BIGGEST HERO IN JAPAN
Smallmight: YOUR SO LUCKY OMGOMGOMG
Ashyboi: Calm down fanboy. He’s not all that great
Smallmight: You take that back right now
“Really?! That’s really cool!” Haato’s eyes widened at the realization. “I might have to ask for his autograph if I see him again.”
Haato continued to talk with her chat. She talked about some of the quirks she saw out when she was out and about. She wanted to talk about Toga and Dabi, but she didn’t think that Mane-chan (who Haachama lovingly nicknamed Haaton Prime) would appreciate that.
Pinky donated 500 yen: Are you going to a hero school?
Haato looked at the question. She quickly went over to her Discord and messaged her manager.
Akai Haato/Haachama: Am I allowed to answer?
Mane-chan: You mean the superchat?
Mane-chan: You can answer, but you’re not allowed to say which hero school you’re going to
“Thank you for the superchat! Mane-chan says it’s okay to answer, so yes, I am going to a hero school,” Haato answered. “I’m not allowed to say where I’m going, though.”
Pinky: That’s so cool!
Smallmight: That’s amazing!
Smallmight: Good luck!
Haato Virus: Good luck!
“Thank you everyone!” Haato said in response to the good will.
“Do you want to continue the stream?” Haachama asked. The stream had been going on for about an hour at this point and Haachama could tell that Haato was still nervous.
I guess. I think I’m just tired, Haato sighed. For some reason, she felt more drained than usual from streaming.
“Thank you all for coming to the stream! Sorry it’s ending a bit early, but I still need to finish moving in,” A lie, but Haato was tired and she just wanted to rest. Not caring to read the chat, she switched screens to the outro. She muted her microphone and leaned into her chair.
That was tiring, Haato thought to herself. After a couple minutes of deep breaths, Haato ended the stream and moved to her bed.
“Well, at least you don’t have anything planned,” Haachama replied. “If you’re gonna sleep, can Haachama use the body?”
If you use the body, it’ll still be tired when I use it again, Haato pointed out.
“Fine. Get some rest. Haachama will have her turn tomorrow.” Haachama pouted. With that, Haato fell into a dreamless sleep.
Instead of being woken up by her alarm, Haato was instead woken up by the sound of her phone ringing. She groggily groped around her nightstand before picking up her phone.
“Oharuuju…” Haato muttered with a tired voice, “Who is it?”
“Ah, Akai Haato! It’s a pleasure to be speaking to you again,” The voice of Nezu caused Haato to perk up.
What would the principal want at this hour? Considering it was still dark, Haato could only assume that was the weather really early in the morning or the middle of the night.
“What do you need, principal?” Haato asked. She spoke politely, but she wouldn’t be surprised if the rat-bear thing picked up on her irritation.
“I forgot to notify you that you that despite the fact that you’ve already been accepted, we still need you to take the entrance exam so we can get a gauge of where your abilities are, both physically and academically,” Nezu explained while Haato rubbed the sleep from her eyes, “I suggest you study up while training both your body and your quirk.”
“Thank you. When is the entrance exam?” Haato asked.
“The exam is in four months. We would normally have you take the recommendation exam, but since your admission was done as a favor to a friend rather than a recommendation from a pro hero, you will have to take the normal entrance exams,” Nezu replied.
“Sounds good. Thank you for the opportunity,” Haato nodded to herself before hanging up.
“What are you going to do now?” Haachama asked, “Will you start getting ready or will you go back to sleep?”
Well I’m already fully awake, Haato replied as she got out of bed. She finally got an opportunity to look at the time. 5 am. It was a couple hours before she woke up normally, but that just meant she had some time to go on a morning stroll before she officially started her day. I guess I’ll go ahead and do something.
“That’s what I hoped you were going to say.”
Izuku placed a note on the table saying that he was going out to exercise for the morning. It had been a sort of routine that he had set up. At first, his mom worried about him, but they had discussed it and she had allowed him to go out every morning. He technically wasn’t lying, but she didn’t know he was out training with his idol.
He smiled as he went to the door. This was the highlight of his day. He would train every morning and evening, before and after school to prepare for the entrance exam. Summer break was coming up soon, though, so he would have even more time to train.
His thoughts of training instantly screeched to a halt when he opened the door and turned to see only that Haato was heading out at the same time as him. In fact, they had opened their respective doors at the same exact time.
“H-Haato?” Izuku blurted. He wanted to shout, but at the same time, he didn’t want to wake his mother. “W-what are you doing up so early?”
“Oharuuji!” Haato waved enthusiastically at the young man, “My phone woke me up and I can’t go back to sleep so I decided to go for a morning stroll? What about you?”
“I-I always get up this early s-so I can exercise,” Izuku replied. He was too stiff and nervous to come up with a convincing lie, so he just decided to tell the truth.
“Oh, that sounds like fun! Can I join?” Haato perked up. Izuku started to panic more than he already was. He couldn’t let anyone know about his training with All Might. It seemed that Haato didn’t know how big of a deal he is, but she could have easily done research since they last talked.
“U-uh… I already have a friend I’m working out with!” Izuku held his hands up frantically. He expected Haato to push further, but she paused for a second. The blank stare was a little unnerving, but nowhere near as unnerving as the thought of someone finding out his secret.
“Okay! Maybe we can hang out some other time,” Haato smiled again, but Izuku didn’t need to have an empathy quirk to know that she was disappointed.
“T-thank you for understanding,” Izuku, looking for a way to get out of the uncomfortable situation, nodded, “I-I’ll see you around!”
With that, he dashed out and down the stairs as fast as he could.
“He’s acting suspicious,” If Haachama had control of the body, she would be narrowing her eyes. “We should follow him. See what he’s up to.”
Are you sure we should do that? I don’t want to invade his privacy, Haato looked slightly uncomfortable by the idea. He’s been nothing but nice to us. Plus, have you looked at him? I think he’s just always that uppity.
“Still, Haachama thinks you should follow him. You said you’re going on a walk. You never said that you wouldn’t walk the same path he was,” Haachama suggested. “Just trust Haachama, okay? Haachama has a feeling that something will happen.”
“Fine… I’ll trust you,” Haato mumbled aloud as she walked down the steps and went in the direction that she saw Izuku going.
“He made a right here,” Haachama said. Haato silently thanked her counterpart and made the turn.
Do you know where he went next? Haato asked.
“Nope. Haachama guesses you have to wander around, then,” Haachama sighed.
Well, there’s still a lot to explore. This is a good opportunity! Haato smiled. Haachama grumbled a reluctant agreement as Haachama happily wandered throughout the empty streets. Eventually, she found herself herself in front of a giant trash heap,
“Dagobah Municipal Beach,” Haato read aloud.
“This is a beach?” Haachama scoffed. “This looks worse than Haachama cooking.”
Are you admitting your cooking is bad? Haato asked.
“Haachama cooking looks bad but tastes amazing,” Haachama corrected.
Hey, maybe we should clean this beach up! Haato suggested. There are a bunch of large things like refrigerators and washing machines. We can also make some practice targets and stuff for your fire from the junk we find here.
“It’s not really our problem,” Haachama pointed out. “YAGOO provides us with more than enough money to afford a gym membership.”
Is it wrong to help out, though? Haato countered. I’m sure we can call it community service or something.
“Fine, You win. There are a lot of upsides to cleaning up this beach,” Haachama acquiesced.
Well, might as well get start—
“Wait!” Haachama cut Haato off before she could start. “Someone’s here.”
Haato stopped and listened. She could hear two people conversing, but they were too far away for her to make out the words. She snuck further into the beach and hid behind a large tv on top of a box. She peeked out to see Izuku laying on the floor, panting and a thin man standing over him.
“You’re making good progress, young Midoriya,” The skinny man said. “Perhaps you will be able to inherit my quirk in time for the exams.”
Izuku pushed himself up into a sitting position and a tired smile parted from his lips. “Thank you, All Might.”
