Chapter Text
“No no no no no no no.”
“Marinette.”
You said we could take a break, now look what happened.” Marinette was pacing the classroom, having a full-on meltdown.
“Marinette!”
“I get akumatized for one second and everything goes off the rails. What am I going to do?”
“Master Marinette?”
“I can’t believe we let the miracle box gets stolen. I have to be the worst guardian ever.”
“Marinette, you need to stop freaking out.”
“What am I going to do?”
Alya sighed, Marinette was spiraling. At this point, she was mostly focused on the disaster of the miracle box having been stolen, which meant that the fox miraculous was now in someone else’s hands. Alya turns to Adrien pointing at Marinette, “Can’t you stop her?”
Adrien turns to Marinette, stops her pacing, and grabs both her hands, “Milady, breathe.”
Marinette lets out a breath and closes her eyes, leaning into Adrien. Alya mostly stood in shock, usually, you would have to wait for her to stop her spiraling after a couple of minutes.
Adrien releases both of her hands, “So, what’s your plan.”
Marinette sighs as she straightens herself, “I’m still working on it, but for now we just have to ask Duusuu where she lives.”
Nino frowns, “Why don’t you just ask who her owner is?” Marinette and Adrien look at him with a weird look.
“Kwamis can’t say their owners’ name. Am I right Tikki?” Marinette turns to her kwami. “Of course not Mari-” Bubbles float out of Tikki.
“Well,” Duusuu came forward. “My owner has a son, which happens to be you.” She points at Adrien.
Marinette tried her best not to smirk as she turns to Adrien, mostly not to hurt her partner. “Well, at least we know where we have to go now.” She shifts Adrien to a chair and pushes him onto it.
“Still pushing me to a chair Milady?” Adrien looks to Marinette, trying his best to smile. Marinette sighs frowning at him, “You are welcome to faint onto the floor if you need to. But just take a moment to register what Duusuu said.”
Marinette looks to the class, “Well I have a plan, I’m going to have to bench all of you just in case.”
The response was mostly explosive from the class, some being torn about it and arguing.
“Look, I very much remember how you guys fought me. I recall some of you crashing into each other. I’m sure Luka can tell you how many more times he saw the fight. Basically, you guys were a disaster, no offense kitty.”
“But Marinette, wouldn’t you need a full team to get Hawkmoth?” Everyone turns to Juleka, who for the first time raised her voice.
“Of course I do. But, in the case we fail at least there will be a backup team that can help us. I’m pretty sure some of you are pretty tired right now.” Marinette turns to Luka, who was trying his best not to collapse at the desk he occupied.
Alya looks at Marinette, “Aren’t you exhausted?” She was greeted with a stare, “No? Look, I’m used to having late nights.” She waved her hands in dismissal. Not that Hawkmoth ever let us get proper sleep anyway, she thought.
Marinette turns to Adrien, “You doing ok?” Adrien looks at Marinette giving thumbs-ups, “Pawsitively so.”
Marinette frowns, “Kitty like you said, I can tell when you’re lying too. The puns don’t help either.” Marinette went back into her head, should she be benching Chat noir too? Would this be too close? What about the fox miraculous? If Hawkmoth has it that means there would be illusions to deal with. She couldn’t possibly be going in on her own. “Oh no, what to do!”
“Milady, I’ll be fine.” Marinette’s gaze shot up, looking at Adrien. “No.”
“I’ll be fine, we just need to take down Hawkmo- I mean my father.”
Marinette’s face fell into a deadpan, “Adrien, do you have any idea what this means for you?”
“It means we take down the villain.”
“No. It means you won’t have anyone left to take care of you. You wouldn’t have a family to get back too. Are you ready for that?”
She was met with silence. Adrien had his head down thinking about it.
“Look, I’m not going to let you go through this alone. You are my partner, I never want you to feel unwanted.” Marinette gave his head a stroke, Alya mostly looking in shock. “So I’m going to have to bench you too, I do have a new team plan to-”
“No, we are the cat and bug team. We have to do it together.” Adrien looks up fire burning in his eyes.
“Adrien, you can’t just expect me to let you go anywhere near the fight.”
“I can and I will.”
“I will chain you to the chair again, we can’t just accept what happens and deal with the consequences later.”
“I mean good riddance, I don’t have to go for Chinese classes anymore.”
Adrien and Marinette were arguing at this point, no matter what Alya did she could not get them to stop. The fight was interrupted by Marinette’s phone ringing, “This isn’t over.” She turns and answers it, “Hello?”
“Marinette, I do not agree on being benched.” Kagami looks at both of them before ending the call.
Marinette groans, “What’s the point of choosing you guys to be heroes if you guys all want to throw yourselves into danger constantly.”
“You do it all the time.”
“That’s not the point!”
Alya grabs Marinette by the shoulder, “Marinette, you choose us all to be heroes. We all accepted and we are all stubborn enough to want to save Paris. Let us help you.”
Marinette looks at Alya and the rest of the class, she sighs. “Fine. Here’s the plan.”
