Work Text:
It was heavily raining outside, and Bucky made it into their apartment building just before it started to thunder. “Hey, Steve,” Bucky called out to his apartment when he got home from work. He slid off his shoes and shook off his plether jacket.
“You’re late,” Steve called back from his art room. “I’ll be out in a sec, I just need to finish this sketch.”
“Take your time, Babe. Sorry ‘bout that!” Bucky called back after him. He put a pot on the stove and filled it with chocolate milk to get it going for both of them. Bucky much preferred coffee, but Steve had to limit his caffeine intake, and decaffeinated sucked, so they both enjoyed hot chocolate as their preferred hot drink.
“So you better have a good reason as to why you’re...” Steve cut himself off when he saw Bucky. He had a nose ring. He didn’t have one when he left “Late…” he slowly walked over to Bucky and tilted his head at him with a sly smirk. Steve poked at the nose ring and Bucky flinched while swatting Steve’s hand away.
“Ow, no touchy. It’s sore and could get infected.”
“So this is why you’re late?” Steve looked down.
Bucky put his hands on Steve’s hips and kissed his neck and jaw. “No, Steve, I’m fucking a piercing artist on the side and they gave this to me,” Steve smacked Bucky’s chest and Bucky laughed as he grabbed Steve’s wrists and pulled him into a kiss.
“You’re an asshole,” Steve buried his face in Buckys chest and looked back up at him. “Do you like it?”
“I love it, Steve,” thunder lowly rolled in the background.
“Do you think you think you look good? Are you happy with it?”
“Yeah, Stevie,” Bucky smiled. “I’m really happy I have the money and freedom to express myself however I want.”
“Then I think you look really sexy,” Steve pulled Bucky’s head down to kiss him.
Bucky smirked and pulled Steve’s earlobe down. It tickled him, so he shrugged his shoulder to hide it. “You wanna go down the body mod rabbit hole with me? Maybe start with an earring?”
“You spent your entire life trying to convince me my body is perfect and now you’re suggesting I change it?”
“Just a suggestion. You could do a regular single ear done,” Bucky tilted his head and slightly pulled Steve’s pants down to expose his hips. “Or double hip piercings, if you wanna keep it just between us,” he winked.
“A hip piercing?” Steve exacerbated. “That’s really a thing? Why?”
“I don’t know,” he leaned his head back. “I tried to get you to love your boney hips when we were younger, and it worked. Piercings would just highlight it.”
“I’m not going to put a hole in my body,” Steve laughed. “Just not my thing. But why’d you get your nose done?” He teased by putting his finger near his nose but not touching it.
“Like I said,” Bucky took Steve’s wrists in his hands once again. “Been dying to have the chance to express myself, and it’s just part of that. Not everyone can use art to express themselves like you. I just wanted it done, and look,” Bucky cringed at the pain as he adjusted the bar so it was hidden. “See? Can’t even tell I have it if you don’t feel like looking at it. Though, since you’re all short I guess you can see it?”
“Shaddup,” Steve shoved Bucky’s shoulder before pulling him to a hug, tightly wrapping his arms around Bucky’s neck. “Welcome home.”
“Good to be home, Stevie,” Bucky kissed the top of Steve’s head before pushing him back.”Seriously, Steve, do you like it? I know it’s my body, yada yada… But I’ll take it out if you don’t like it.”
“You already paid to get it done, and you like it. Plus you look more hipster than homeless now, so… Yeah, I like it,” Steve grinned. “You going to do anything else?”
“Sure, maybe…” Bucky trailed off as he took Steve’s left wrist and gently nibbled it. “Since we aren’t doing wedding rings, maybe get tattoos? Maybe each other's heartbeats? I know it would cover up or draw attention to your scars, so it could be on the right wrist if you want?”
“I’d like that,” Steve leaned forward to press their bodies together. “Left wrist instead of rings. That’d be okay.”
“Yeah?” Bucky raised an eyebrow then winced when Steve adjusted the nose ring back to place.
“Yeah,” Steve quietly said as he kissed the tip of Bucky’s nose. “Let’s do it,” he walked over to the now boiling chocolate milk on the stove and turned it off. There was a crack of thunder outside when Steve got cups from the cabinet next to the stove. He got a ladle from a drawer and filled the cups. He handed one to Bucky and they sat on the couch that was backed to the balcony door in the middle of the room.
Bucky wrapped a blanket around Steve and himself and kissed his neck as they watched the rain hit the balcony door and lightning streak the sky peacefully listened to the storm outside.
