Summary
When she is fourteen, her father tries to set her marriage to Wei Wuxian and there are scorch marks from Zidian all over Sword Hall until he relents.
“She is my heir,” he warns his wife. “She will need a husband lower in rank, one who will join her sect.”
She sneers, an angry curl of pink lips. “How like you, Jiang Fengmian, to hear lower rank and go straight to servant. Why give your daughter more when you can just raise your beloved Wei Wuxian? It is sad; your insults to our daughter no longer surprise- they are expected.”
Jiang Cheng is betrothed to Lan Wangji when she is fourteen. And here too, she feels second best.
